If You Ever Turn Your Eyes My Way Again
I was fortunate enough
To have made your acquaintance
When you had your father's name
But I wasn't fortunate enough to be the man
For whom it would later change.
You may have heard I was disoriented
And I was holding flowers in the rain
When I learned you were married.
I tried to talk to you
Before you fell in love with him
But I met with such heavy resistance
From every corner of my existence:
There was sickness and death,
Family obligations of the heart,
I was living in a place
Where I thought my soul
Would be torn apart.
What purpose is there to contend
With the capricious gods of fate?
You would have never seen me
As more than a friend or ever accepted
I loved you more than him.

Love's perfection
Oh I am so fortunate.
In the past and in the present.
We fell in love, and loved
and it was total
and unexpected
and revelatory
and unique, of course
and consuming
and falling in love with the whole world too
and with life itself
and a compass
and the possibility of a map
and lacked nothing
and was everything.
And it was so perfect
that now
when I see your double around the town
who looks just like you
and was you
there is no need for nostalgia
or regrets
or how-it-might-have-been-if
or even self-congratulation
because it was so complete
and completed.
I am so fortunate.
I would like to think
(for we talk, easily, but never of the past)
that it is the same for you
for that way, completeness is doubled
and something, perhaps
given to the world.
We are so fortunate.

Fortunate Son
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white, and blue
And when the band plays hail to the chief
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves now
And when the tax man comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no
Some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war
And when you ask 'em how much should we give
Ooh, they only answer more, more, more, more
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one, one
It ain't me
It ain't me

Clear fountains of pure life
Penetrate the hurting with love
My family has died
Clouds drift over the blue sky
Sometimes I am afraid too love
I do not want them to die
It can be a terrible thing to be alone
Why I am here I do not know
I wished I was home or felt at home
I do know there are many like me
There are many hurt and grieving
Many lost and confused
Maybe I am broken for a purpose?
I think Gods love reaches for the hurt
Pride and self-righteousness does nothing
When I contend and try to be right
When I puff up and think I am better
Then I do nothing in Gods love
A friend was over yesterday that had a stroke
He could hardly talk and his right arm shook
Another good friend has cancer
Another friend is dying of alcoholism
His face has blotches
They need nothing except real love
I am the novice

Sacred And Eternal
I am fortunate to be a poet with words periodical
I am fortunate to write poems sacred and eternal.
I am fortunate to see the world in new look
I am fortunate to be in poetic imagination
With evergreen colors sacred and eternal.
I am fortunate to be a part and parcel of the world
That is yours and only yours
And you are for all sacred and eternal.

Unexpected
I was talking to you on the phone for very long on, which makes me happy because
It been two years since I heard your voice
It's not same without you here
You are living in Orlando to go college
I can't wait to see you soon when you come done for Thanksgiving break
Unexpected
I change to a bad girl by sneaking out of house after you text that you want to see me
I have so much mixed emotions, and I don't know how I feel right now
As I was walking down the street in the middle of the night, you call me and my heart start beating fast
You stop your car right in front of me, so you can come out to hug me and it all feels so right
You sitting in your car, holding my hand, smiling way you do, and looking me in my eyes as we talk
I forget how mad I was
When we talk and catch up about our life, it makes me realized how much you have change
I feel like nothing could go wrong
Then we drove around to have time of our life
I rather be there with you and no one else
We did crazy things in the car and act like no one else is around
We finally park somewhere quiet and ten minutes later we have fight about stupid stuff
That made me walks away from you in the first place
You drove me home and few words were spoken
Unexpected
You said wait when I about to leave because you want a hug and I was confused
It's really over or it wasn't?
The next day, I talk to my friend who I haven't heard in awhile
She found out that you were lying to me
You are back with your ex and cheating on her with me
I can't believe you lied to me
How can I ever trust you again?
Tell me that you never cheat and is your friend's cousin who does it
You will never change
You always be that guy who breaks my heart
I never want to speak to you or never ever want to see you again
I though give you a second change means that everything will be different this time
It wasn't and always going be way I left
I am one putting all the effort to give us another try, but
Unexpected
You won't do the same and said you want to, and lied again
I am being strong and not crying for someone who doesn't care for me
I have to go and get off your train
All I have left of you is smell you left on my clothes when you hug me
Unexpected

Mommie, Aint That Daddy
The snow was fallin swiftly and it mounted on the street
Little footprints in the snow made by our childrens feet
As I walked them to the good will store to get some clothes to wear
As we turned around the corner I saw you standing there
I tried to turn the children and walk the other way
I prayed they hadnt seen you then I heard the baby say
Mommie, aint that daddy holding out his hand
Begging for money from that other man?
They asked me aint that daddy?
And yes I had to say
And I wondered if Id failed you
And made you turn this way
No, you didnt fail me, my weakness was just too strong
Because you see, I thought more of the bottle than our family and our home
No, you didnt fail me sweetheart, you loved me all you could
You had my babies and you loved me like no other woman ever would
You know I guess Id be better off dead
Than in the awful ship Im in
But death just dont seem to have a place for those that stay drunk on whiskey, wine and gin
You see I die a constant death over and over every day
If I could change, you know Id do it for you, the babies and our home
But you might as well forget me for Im just too forward gone
But I wish you would do me one last favor and do it just for me
When they ask you, momma aint that daddy?
Just say it used to be

Sharing Of Christmas
There is a Christmas story that I must tell
Of a family who were known quite well.
They never had much in their lives.
They did not have any wealth or fame
But they was loved just the same.
Two little children, a boy and a girl
But they were worth more than
any diamonds or pearls.
This family shared a bond which
You very rarely see, and they had hearts
Which were made in heaven
And with a smile on their faces 24/7.
Many times they were seen with
their clothes torn and tattered
But for the ones that knew them
That did not matter.
The little that they had they shared with others
For it was something that they did see
That they weren’t the only ones living in poverty.
They would attend mass every week
For comfort and guidance they did seek.
They prayed for the blessings from above
From the father that they loved.
It seemed like every week they had food to spare
And with the less fortunate they would share.
Then for the holidays he received bad news
Either his hours cut or his job he’d lose.
He took the cut and retightened his belt
This was a heartache like he had never felt.
Neighbors heard of his plight
and the word spread like torrential rains
Upon the neighborhood streets.
That he was in dire need, without gifts
For his family or even food to eat.
He awoke on Christmas day and took
Out the meager gifts that he was able to buy
And under the tree he put them to lie.
His wife and kids awoke and they shared
The birth of our savior, who was
lying under the tree in his manger.
When they heard a knock on their door.
He opened the door and a loud scream
Pierced his ears.
“MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR”.
All the neighborhood was at his door
With all sorts of gifts and presents galore.
“This is for all the times that you helped
Others, when they were in need
And because of your generosity you planted a seed.
You taught us how we should live
And that it doesn’t take much to give.”
“This has become a tradition that they now share.”

When Someone Is Gone
Why it is that when someone is gone
We realized how precious our love one;
Why we often see the emptiness only
When we could never behold thee.
My heart bleeds for I have not done
The wishes of my father for this son;
It bothers me with so much agony
For I failed to fulfill my father's inquiry.
My father wanted me to be a lawyer
But fate never let a gold be discovered
For at an early age I married untimely
To someone who was an unfaitful lady.
I regret that when we've been together
I never ever said ' I love you Father'
For I find it so insignificant to tell orally
My great love for him and to our family.
I just hope my father will understand
That I'm shy to accost my heart's plan;
But He knew I love him so tenderly
With the love he showed to the family.

Someone
Someone
Im searching for someone wholl be true
Wholl change my life of blue
Into a dream of golden rainbows
Where are you?
I seems Ive been searching
Searching more than just one lifetime
My heart is a magnet all for you
Ill know you when I see you
Within my heart is carved a sculpture of your love
Life is worth less than nothing without love
Love is the force from which all beings live
Dont you see, its the purpose of living to love and be loved
Again and again
Where are you
My heart cries for you
My eyes long to see you
My soul is all for you
Oh where are you, someone?
Dont you see, its the purpose of living to love and be loved
Again and again
Where are you
My heart cries for you
My eyes long to see you
My soul is all for you
Oh where are you, someone?

Fear
Reject
Are you no one
Feel you nothing
You know I'll bet you think
You have a good reason to be living
In the limelight of the fortunate ones
you're too weakened by the poison
That they feed you in the living lie
They don't believe you
Carr to no one
Trust in nothing
Little impotent one
I don't want to be innocent

Sonnet XCVI: Life the Beloved
As thy friend's face, with shadow of soul o'erspread,
Somewhile unto thy sight perchance hath been
Ghastly and strange, yet never so is seen
In thought, but to all fortunate favour wed;
As thy love's death-bound features never dead
To memory's glass return, but contravene
Frail fugitive days, and alway keep, I ween,
Than all new life a livelier lovelihead:—
So Life herself, thy spirit's friend and love,
Even still as Spring's authentic harbinger
Glows with fresh hours for hope to glorify;
Though pale she lay when in the winter grove
Her funeral flowers were snow-flakes shed on her
And the red wings of frost-fire rent the sky.

Is There Life Out There
(susan longacre, rick giles)
She married when she was twenty
She thought she was ready
Now shes not so sure
She thought shed done some living
But now shes just wonderin
What shes living for
Now shes feeling that theres something more
Chorus:
Is there life out there
So much she hasnt done
Is there life beyond
Her family and her home
Shes done what she should
Should she do what she dares
She doesnt want to leave
Shes just wonderin
Is there life out there
Shes always lived for tomorrow
Shes never learned how
To live for today
Shes dyin to try something foolish
Do something crazy
Or just get away
Something for herself for a change
Repeat chorus
Theres a place in the sun that shes never been
Where life is fair and time is a friend
Would she do it the same as she did back then
She looks out the window and wonders again
Repeat chorus twice

Prayer
For the love of my Lord God
who gives me unconditional forgiveness
Let your Love's light shine
That there not be any shadow
Abiding in me.
Grace my brow with your wisdom
And understanding, ease my guilt
that forbodes me making my heart heavy
Turn my sickness to joy
All my grief to requite
Burden me with only goodness
And kindness that I may share
Willingly with the less fortunate
Til again I'm paupered in spirit
And come seeking your greatness again.
Amen

American Soldier
His face against the window the boy starts to cry,
Out of all days on his birthday the 9th of July,
His father had just left to go back to Iraq,
And the boy didn't know if he'd ever come back,
This wasn't the first time his father went away,
But everytime he did the boy would pray,
That his father would return,
Without even a burn,
It was realy hard to have faith,
That his father would be safe,
When everyday on TV,
He'd hear about another injury,
The boy would lose hope everytime he heard a knock on the door,
And it wasn't his father coming back from the war,
Every night before going to sleep the boy thought about the war,
How his dream to be like his father in the army was not anymore,
One morning the boy woke up and he went to eat his breakfast,
And when he did he saw the one that for a long time he missed,
He tried but couldn't hold in his tears,
After realizing that God had heard his prayers,
Never again will I leave his father then said,
I have realized now all the tears I have caused to be shed,
Wether it be to family or to a friend,
This is THE END!

The Victory
Hark--how the church-bells thundering harmony
Stuns the glad ear! tidings of joy have come,
Good tidings of great joy! two gallant ships
Met on the element,--they met, they fought
A desperate fight!--good tidings of great joy!
Old England triumphed! yet another day
Of glory for the ruler of the waves!
For those who fell, 'twas in their country's cause,
They have their passing paragraphs of praise
And are forgotten.
There was one who died
In that day's glory, whose obscurer name
No proud historian's page will chronicle.
Peace to his honest soul! I read his name,
'Twas in the list of slaughter, and blest God
The sound was not familiar to mine ear.
But it was told me after that this man
Was one whom lawful violence had forced
From his own home and wife and little ones,
Who by his labour lived; that he was one
Whose uncorrupted heart could keenly feel
A husband's love, a father's anxiousness,
That from the wages of his toil he fed
The distant dear ones, and would talk of them
At midnight when he trod the silent deck
With him he valued, talk of them, of joys
That he had known--oh God! and of the hour
When they should meet again, till his full heart
His manly heart at last would overflow
Even like a child's with very tenderness.
Peace to his honest spirit! suddenly
It came, and merciful the ball of death,
For it came suddenly and shattered him,
And left no moment's agonizing thought
On those he loved so well.
He ocean deep
Now lies at rest. Be Thou her comforter
Who art the widow's friend! Man does not know
What a cold sickness made her blood run back
When first she heard the tidings of the fight;
Man does not know with what a dreadful hope
She listened to the names of those who died,
Man does not know, or knowing will not heed,
With what an agony of tenderness
She gazed upon her children, and beheld
His image who was gone. Oh God! be thou
Her comforter who art the widow's friend!
