Fortunate Son
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white, and blue
And when the band plays hail to the chief
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no senator's son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves now
And when the tax man comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no
Some folks inherit star-spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war
And when you ask 'em how much should we give
Ooh, they only answer more, more, more, more
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no military son, son, son
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, one, one
It ain't me
It ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, son, son

Sacred And Eternal
I am fortunate to be a poet with words periodical
I am fortunate to write poems sacred and eternal.
I am fortunate to see the world in new look
I am fortunate to be in poetic imagination
With evergreen colors sacred and eternal.
I am fortunate to be a part and parcel of the world
That is yours and only yours
And you are for all sacred and eternal.

Love's perfection
Oh I am so fortunate.
In the past and in the present.
We fell in love, and loved
and it was total
and unexpected
and revelatory
and unique, of course
and consuming
and falling in love with the whole world too
and with life itself
and a compass
and the possibility of a map
and lacked nothing
and was everything.
And it was so perfect
that now
when I see your double around the town
who looks just like you
and was you
there is no need for nostalgia
or regrets
or how-it-might-have-been-if
or even self-congratulation
because it was so complete
and completed.
I am so fortunate.
I would like to think
(for we talk, easily, but never of the past)
that it is the same for you
for that way, completeness is doubled
and something, perhaps
given to the world.
We are so fortunate.

She be as fresh as a bud.
He is fortunate who is blessed with a bride
As virgin as a bud, err it be blown.
He is fortunate who is blessed with a wife
As chaste as a rose, ever in bloom.

If You Ever Turn Your Eyes My Way Again
I was fortunate enough
To have made your acquaintance
When you had your father's name
But I wasn't fortunate enough to be the man
For whom it would later change.
You may have heard I was disoriented
And I was holding flowers in the rain
When I learned you were married.
I tried to talk to you
Before you fell in love with him
But I met with such heavy resistance
From every corner of my existence:
There was sickness and death,
Family obligations of the heart,
I was living in a place
Where I thought my soul
Would be torn apart.
What purpose is there to contend
With the capricious gods of fate?
You would have never seen me
As more than a friend or ever accepted
I loved you more than him.

Eyes Wide Open
I'm a fortunate son of a fortunate son
Living large on the wrong side of town
Too many friends and the fun never ends
Drinking and hanging around
I wanna rule the world wanna swallow it whole
At least I could kick it all down
I wanna kick it all down
Eyes wide open I can't see
Eyes wide open what you mean
Eyes wide open I can't seem to be
My eyes wide open I can't see
Eyes wide open what you mean
Eyes wide open I can't seem to be
I don't take the bus and I never walk too far
The furthest I got was my own backyard
With a fist full of cash that somebody else earned
Send me some more when it all got burned
I wanna take control

How Fortunate the Man with None
From the play "Mother Courage"
You saw sagacious Solomon
You know what came of him,
To him complexities seemed plain.
He cursed the hour that gave birth to him
And saw that everything was vain.
How great and wise was Solomon.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's wisdom that had brought him to this state.
How fortunate the man with none.
You saw courageous Caesar next
You know what he became.
They deified him in his life
Then had him murdered just the same.
And as they raised the fatal knife
How loud he cried: you too my son!
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's courage that had brought him to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.
You heard of honest Socrates
The man who never lied:
They weren't so grateful as you'd think
Instead the rulers fixed to have him tried
And handed him the poisoned drink.
How honest was the people's noble son.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's honesty that brought him to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.
Here you can see respectable folk
Keeping to God's own laws.
So far he hasn't taken heed.
You who sit safe and warm indoors
Help to relieve our bitter need.
How virtuously we had begun.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's fear of god that brought us to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.

Some Folks Lives Roll Easy
Words & music by paul simon
Some folks lives roll easy as a breeze
Drifting through a summer night
Heading for a sunny day
But most folks lives, oh they stumble
Lord they fall
Through no fault of their own
Most folks never catch their stars
And here I am, lord
Im knocking at your place of business
I know I aint got no business here
But you said if I ever got so low
I was busted,
You could be trusted
Some folks lives roll easy
Some folks lives
Never roll at all
Oh, they just fall
They just fall
Some folks lives

Because of Christ's resurrection--and His guarantee that He will resurrect all who believe in Him--we are the most fortunate, the most blest people on the planet Our faith is effective, we are not in our sins, our departed loved ones are with the Lord, and the labor we do for Him is not in vain.

The Act of Inaction by Those who Are Powerless
Credit only needs to be given where its been proven.
Justification of how acquired is not necessary never has been.
The less fortunate, find it more fortunate to be less and know that they weren't responsible for the mess.
But their inaction is one and the same.
We can all point the finger and blame.
And live in shame.
Or fix it, imagine that claim to fame.
It's a sensation trying be sold everyday.
Do it my way, no do it my way.
In an argument of an agreement, neither have got the entire solution as a whole.
But its together in which it's deployed.
Each what they most desire.
But in a compromise of selfish deeds.
In which the loss of most important to be.
It fades and soon you no longer see.
What hides behind those clouds.
A shroud, to protect you from the wholesome truth.
In all the ugliness.
In all the craziness.
Self sustaining is just no longer possible.
Not in the face of denial by systematic trials of those who have and have not been proven.
So with one lost, comes one win.
Human suffering is where it all begins.

Colorful
Written by brian vander ark
The show is over close the story book
There will be no encore
And all the random hands that I have shook
Well theyre reaching for the door
I watch their backs as they leave single file
But you stood stubborn, cheering all the while
I know I can be colorful
I know I can be gray
But I know this losers living fortunate
Cause I know you will love me either way
Most were being good for goodness sake
But you wouldnt pantomime
You are more beautiful when you awake
Than most are in a lifetime
Through the haze that is my memory well
You stayed for drama though you paid for a comedy
I know I can be colorful
I know I can be gray
But I know this losers living fortunate
Cause I know you will love me either way
Look ahead as far as you can see
Well live in drama but well die in a comedy
I know I can be colorful...

Okay At Christmas
First let me say merry Christmas
Hope you haven't yet spent up to the max
For again this is such a time of the year
When you should take a little more care
And for Christ's sake do what's fair
Prepare yourself to do a little charity
Then let those with much help others fairly
Even if you can't afford to do a great lot
The Saviour sees and knows what you've got
Just do your best He will do the rest
Do the work of love you'll be blessed
He whose birthday you're hoping to celebrate
Doubtless you guess He requires no less
Than for everyone to have a merry Christmas
Join me with a cheer for who takes care
To help the less fortunate share a Christmas
Happy be your spirit all along the way
The Child who was born upon this day
He reigns, our Saviour Christ the Lord
Three cheers to all for a merry Christmas
Let everyone give thanks for Christ the Lord
The beloved Son of God came to us at last
Who went on the cross and paid the cost
He did it to stop man from getting lost
Lift your hands and say merry Christmas.
