Ritual Union
The sun splits open, spilling an orange rust,
And it corrodes the distant horizon.
The settling clouds of thick ashen dust
Hover above the motionless ocean.
The warm air rises, blowing time away
With the lingering shadows of the past.
The shoreline crumbles in the gentle sway
Of erosive waves and haze overcast.
Lighting halves the sky. Then, thunder whispers
In a language of long-lost memories.
The glowing embers cool in the vespers,
In the ebbing tide of these reveries,
And light slowly fades into its stream
As if it were nothing more than a dream.

Land and Sea
Land and Sea
As though by some eternal decree,
Land and sea are destined to disagree
Over where the shoreline should be.
At tide time the Sea rises in anger,
Roars with a sound like thunder,
Summons all the power it can muster.
The Sea advances in waves,
Pushes the shoreline in steps,
Overwhelms Land's defences.
The Land retreats stage by stage,
As the Sea extends its range,
All the while dissipating its rage.
In time, the Sea is pacified and content,
Calls upon its waves to beat a retreat,
To rest and get ready for the next fight.
The land watches with delight
As the shoreline follows the retreat,
And reclaims the land that was lost.
Both contenders must for a time rest,
For there will soon be another contest,
One which is continuously won and lost.

Ships Passing In Night Born
ships are sailing upon turn tide flowing river waters
light is dance happy mellow yellows closing long day
soon sunset will add flame reds fingers yellow gold
sun sets sinks into still sea upon horizon home shores
dust light fades shadows creep in stealth murky images
suddenly black dawns night deep darkness speaks in glory
starlight sparkles upon enchanted waters river ebbs flows
passage across bar out into ocean waves rocks emotions
soon short journeys made upon ocean waters salts senses
watch shoreline beach grey sands invisible stretch wet away
waters dark painted ocean oil black sparkles in flow waves
beach sands perfume night with residue heat breeze vapours

The Ghostly Ship (Fantasy)-Triquatrain Poem
In the blue sky height, the red strange sun’s waves of light
Rend here and there the painful horizon making it to be mobile.
Touching the Southern Bight, they seem to reach the night,
Making the sea to be more empowered and more ennoble.
The sea waves transgress, the diaphanous moonlight is in a mess
And cannot displace the waves of the painful horizon in universe.
The moon's whispers, nevertheless, can touch the sea with finesse.
The stars are sky's tears, their light is really true in reverse.
At the horizon's frontiers, from another life, a ship appears
To reach the ghostlike moonlit memories on the shoreline.
The past sinks its fears into the inaudible music of the spheres.
We're on that illusory ghostly ship and you are forever mine.

Endless Sea
By the sea she dreams in quiet longing
Sea gulls fly free, clouds drift with out care
Waves swell and playfully role
I see her from a far, the beach is ours
Blue skies shine on golden sand
The season for love has finally arrived
Her hair falls down in the morning sun
Her soft eyes look far into the distant sea
I can't keep from watching her
Foot prints in the sand, sea weed, shells
Feel the sensual sun warm the salty air
The universe is alive, sea gulls glide free
The sea is a great comfort to her
Flowing waves bring a sense of calm
She smiles and slowly walks on the sand
Is love a sea where the soul feels hope?
Drift wood washes a shore
Mystery, enchantment, romance,
She puts her feet into the cool water
Tides roll and splash her body
Renewal, revival, mystical gentle asylum
Blue green waves shimmer with light
ever changing boundless energy
Myth, pirates, discovery, mermaids
Shall I approach you? Who are you?
I sit in silent delight in awe
Are you a poem I like but do not understand?
Strangers in the sunlight and soft wind
Wondering about life, love and meaning
The great mystic sea unites us
The shoreline seems endless
Ships in the distance seem small
The sea is our friend, a lovely dream
Eternity in moments by the sea fill her eyes
Ancient visions visit open hearts and minds
We are quiet lovers listening to the ebbing tide
We are drawn to the sea to learn of love
We drink from Neptune's great cup
Serene wisdom teaches us peace
Shadows grow, the wind is starting to blow
Day turns to dusk and it is time to go
I will see you again my dear by the endless sea

Dancing to the Sunset
Melodies of romance harmonize
with aquamarine ocean
Constant waves gently touch
golden sandy beaches
Oceanic breeze embraces palms
in a passionate motion
Blowing towards the land
a refreshing ventilation
As the time goes by evening sun
slowly dips down
Sparkling glow timely fades
on the distant horizon
Melting the beauties of the day
on crimson sky
Lighting lumninous flambeaus
by the seaside
Bangles of precious pearls
swirl spirally on her arms
Decorative blooming flowers
swing rhythmically around her garb
Naked feet move briskly
on smooth crystal sand
Evening fades, silhouette dances
swaying sinuous hands...

Lingers
The rain is gone,
It's pitter patter silent,
It's accompaniment of thunder quiet,
It's ensemble of lightning dark,
but the smell still lingers.
The soft breeze carries the scent,
A cool night with damp grass,
The animals hide in dry brush,
The people tucked away at home,
The air thick with the weight of silence,
The thunder once so loud and startling,
Now distant and still moving further,
The lightening once so bright and threatening,
Now a distant glow that illuminates the horizon,
The storm has passed.
And like the rain,
you are gone for now,
Too far from my grasp,
For now my arms are empty,
But your smell still lingers.
The breeze from the open window carries your scent,
A cool night with warm sheets,
The restless hearts calmed,
The racing thoughts slowed,
The air thick with new memories and feelings.
The sounds once so crisp and real,
Now the silent rise and fall of chests,
The light in our eyes once so bright and alluring,
Now hidden behind closed lids,
The storm has passed.
The rain now as calm as our dreams,
And the storm as silent as our breathing,
Until once again the lightning will strike,
And our eyes light up again,
But for now, the smell still lingers.

Bubbling up
from within
life giving,
quench my thirst.
Gathering in the grotto
spilling over its rim.
Trickle down,
a new begins.
Babbling brook.
Gentle stream.
Rapidly flowing river.
Ragging currents.
Frothy unsettled turbulence.
Under toe from beneath,
take
me
away.
Falling over rocks below.
Finding its way to open waters.
Great lakes
perhaps
beaver ponds.
Tributaries,
watersheds,
over abundance,
flood planes lie ahead.
Sediment washes away
to oceans
vast seas.
Sail upon them to distant shores,
explore the unknown.
Ebbing tide
called forth
mesmerizing moon.
Fathom deep
depths unknown.
Waves crashing ashore,
secluded bay
private lagoon.
Listen,
sirens song
calling.
Lift the Cong shell to your ear,
tell me
what
you
hear.

Why Fades A Dream
WHY fades a dream?
An iridescent ray
Flecked in between the tryst
Of night and day.
Why fades a dream? —
Of consciousness the shade
Wrought out by lack of light and made
Upon life's stream.
Why fades a dream?
That thought may thrive,
So fades the fleshless dream;
Lest men should learn to trust
The things that seem.
So fades a dream,
That living thought may grow
And like a waxing star-beam glow
Upon life's stream —
So fades a dream.

Love Sonnet 178 I trodded memories in foggy lanes,
I trodded memories in foggy lanes,
Marked by shredded dreams strewn along the way,
A glimmer sheds its light on love that wanes,
To bring recall, without which hearts can stray;
For thus, shadows are cleared from misty past,
Where gossamer of doubt has spun so thick,
Now covering the truth, it riles aghast,
That lamp so pure had burned with liars' wick;
Oblivion balms the cruel stripes of Fate,
To numb the pain that from the blows proceeds,
Or may requite the coast that waves vacate,
So bare, when ebbing tide of love recedes;
.....Memories a lifetime make, till undone,
.....By strings of broken hearts till fog is gone.

The Evening Darkens Over
The evening darkens over
After a day so bright,
The windcapt waves discover
That wild will be the night.
There's sound of distant thunder.
The latest sea-birds hover
Along the cliff's sheer height;
As in the memory wander
Last flutterings of delight,
White wings lost on the white.
There's not a ship in sight;
And as the sun goes under,
Thick clouds conspire to cover
The moon that should rise yonder.
Thou art alone, fond lover.

Fading Shades of Gray
An autumn leaf descends toward a fire—
Slowly, like a feather in the soft wind.
Dehydrated, its orange body is crisp
And brittle enough to crumble in hand.
In the past few weeks, the branches above
Have grown barren—so quickly they have thinned—
And the brisk air has become harsh and cold
As if to say nature's warmth must expire.
What was once green covers in the thick smoke
That pillows up from the crackling land.
The smolder of time takes each fading shade.
Orange becomes red and black edges expand
‘Til the veins flow gray. The leaf, ashen-skinned,
Becomes the dust of seasons to transpire.

An Epiphany In The Car
The gathering black clouds-eerie feeling-
spread over blue sky, putting me in a pensive mood.
Not long after, dark clouds commence
raining and slowly seceded from the rest and leaving
open to view, a silver disk setting in distant west.
Being overcome by flaring orange- red
then and there, the sun falls into the warm arms
of the fiery glow.
Looking into his face, hints of grey down the side that,
seemed to further the water flow down window panes and eyes:
Childhood days were recalled from distant memory of
walking out the sun right into the cool rain.
Too, raindrops on window sounded like Momma's ever whipping tune:
'I told you…beat, beat, beat...not to play in the rain…beat, beat, beat…
'OUCH, 'her lyrics and beating continued hours, it seemed.
Still, we sat in car looking out on the rain, I felt the warm
sunsets and the years of Momma's missed presences.
Closing distance between then and now, still in awe, of blazing
sun to the right, clouds raining tears from distant sky on my left,
and with much effort futhering my own sunset.

Let the Light Enter
"The dying words of Goethe."
"Light! more light! the shadows deepen,
And my life is ebbing low,
Throw the windows widely open:
Light! more light! before I go.
"Softly let the balmy sunshine
Play around my dying bed,
E'er the dimly lighted valley
I with lonely feet must tread.
"Light! more light! for Death is weaving
Shadows 'round my waning sight,
And I fain would gaze upon him
Through a stream of earthly light."
Not for greater gifts of genius;
Not for thoughts more grandly bright,
All the dying poet whispers
Is a prayer for light, more light.
Heeds he not the gathered laurels,
Fading slowly from his sight;
All the poet's aspirations
Centre in that prayer for light.
Gracious Saviour, when life's day-dreams
Melt and vanish from the sight,
May our dim and longing vision
Then be blessed with light, more light.

Internal Reverie
In the darkness on a starlit night
I lay close to the shore of my memory and imagination-
Waves of anger and recollections of personal injury,
Mistrust and betrayal are flooding over me as
A tidal wave would, splashing tears of hurt and doubt
From my eyes as the moon laughs ridiculing
The fear that has me immobilized-
Starlight is dim as any hope left inside,
The light of the moon, figments of my imagination and
Feelings of rage are overwhelming me as
Rain begins to fall and as raindrops hit the ground I feel an upsurge of emotion-
I cannot control as the starlight becomes dimmer
- Inside my mind a clock is ticking rapidly-
Flight of time is terrifying as the waves of resentment
Splash upon the imaginary shore where I lie-
Lost hope and the pain of self harm induce once hidden fears to resurface-
Ships sailing in an ocean without direction, in the darkness of this starlit night
I would board a ship and search for another destination as
I ride the waves, no land in sight- Overcome by bleak darkness as the moon disappears
Behind the clouds and the rain pours down in torrents,
Blinding me- I never believed there was a god or a heaven,
I never believed in angels singing or
Patron saints that would bring me towards some sort of salvation-
Life has been a tragic musical of which I am the star-
Lost inside my own world from which I was snatched away-
I lived in a world where the sun rose in the very early morning and
People never deceived one another and starlight was bright in
The early evening, into the dawn of the next day-
Waves were gentle, washing over a shore of freedom and
Rain never fell, obliterating my horizon-
I ride my ship into the night as the stars and moon have disappeared-
Waves are closing in on me and I am searching for an island of serenity –
I hear for the first time angels singing their most heartrending melodies-
Perhaps it is only a dream- but in my mind dreams are my only reality as
I can see the stars appearing on the horizon as candles would brighten a
Home on a winter’s night, I keep on riding that ship still trying to find redemption-
Islands of expectation and trust that may appear in my wildest reverie-
In fate and luck I am a believer whether or not a God exists-therefore
Even though light may be dim, a gentle ocean breeze shall
Perhaps carry me towards that island in my fondest dream where
The sun shall appear from behind those clouds of misfortune, which shall
Become none but lost memories of the past, never to reemerge.

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
A tiny brown triangle on the finger tip
Promises to explore distant lands on a trip
Lying back slowly to relax and be easy
Drinking clear fluids not to feel queasy
Warm waters rush from my toes to my head
Translucent images surface slowly from ahead
Beautiful crystals dance to Rock & Roll tunes
While the stars twinkle on early afternoons
A kaleidoscopic mirage is born from the light
While words spoken in whispers calmly excite
Snowflakes of feathers are refreshing in July
A dragon is crowned visiting from Shanghai
Strawberries become mountains to explore
A room without doors I'm trying to ignore
From the corner the North Wind is blowing
Green marbles in a vase are brightly glowing
Seductive rivers displaying waves in pastel
Raining on the angel of truth casting a spell
Reminiscing about a time that seems long gone
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was the song

It's haze, hard haze...
It's haze, hard haze,
As a veil as a shroud...
And there, in two steps,
It is war behind the haze.
And the battles go on,
But we can't take part in them,
We're absolutly chained by haze to earth now -
We are the air workers of the war.
It's haze, hard haze
On past events, on life.
And so far, in distant land
There is our house fine.
And in front dugout hut
We are dreaming of the child,
That we were in past, but now we to adults grown -
We are the air workers of the war.
It's haze, grey haze...
It will come and again.
And so far in distant land
There is love behind the haze.
And the brides will wait for long,
When we could from war return,
And, alas, not all will then return to home...
We are the air workers of the war...

When the Sun Shines
I am always here
I am in the wind
That whispers thru the pine
I am always here
I'm the achingly beautiful melody
Playing across your mind
When the sun shines, when the sun shines
I am always here
I am the emptiness in the night
Keeping you in memories until dawn
I am the past and future
Lingering on and on
I am always here
And sometimes I call your name
I play across your mind
On waves of memories
When the sun shines, when the sun shines
I am here.
Dena, may you find laughter and dance and song now
Tell Me
Tell me, tell me, tell me what hides behind my skin—
Like whatever's in a window when you're in a room
Watching the curtains flutter in the wind.
Tell me how the weather is
When you're looking outside to somewhere open
With cloudless skies and blue space covering.
Tell me if it's warm where you come from
Or where my thoughts of you come from,
And tell me if the sun drapes over the horizon
And deep into the orange, dusted canyons.
Tell me if there is something
Like a garden, blooming with the spring
Of my youth, next to something sort of like an ocean,
Or something relaxing, with the waves parting,
And something I like, though I don't know what that is.
Tell me about the white nowhere
That percolates through my pores and from my dreams,
And between the no language of tongue speak,
And blank canvases and whatever I wondered
Would remind me of you.

Our last Swim (R.I.P. Anne Mary Simon)
Our last Swim
By Renee’
For my beloved Anne Mary Simon
An Image of you in a cloud rolls by
The sky opens up, somewhere in my mind
A vision of you in a pale blue dress
Tears falling down, you took my breath
Memories of you...
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
The time is near, the time is nigh
To answer the call, to answer the cry
My head still spins, my body aches
The wind stings my eyes, my face
I look around, no one’s there
Will anybody notice, will anyone care...
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
I sit on this beach, your beach
I see the waves roll in endlessly
I hold you tight against my bosom
Tears fill my eyes as I see you running into the ocean
You are laughing and so happy
Memories of you...
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
It’s time to take our final swim
My eyes fill with tears
I can’t move, but I must
You are waiting for me
My legs ache, my body is frozen
You are calling me, “come swim Renee’ “
Memories of you…
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
I feel the warm ocean lapping at my feet
I slowly walk deeper, and deeper
Still holding you so tight
“Please don’t leave me! ”
I desperately cry
Stay with me a while longer
Don’t leave me yet
I am holding you so tight
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
I feel you touch my face
I feel your loving embrace
I see your warm smile
“Please Anne, stay a while”
I see the last glitter of your eyes
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
Opening the urn, I see you leap and dive
I see you swimming around me
Why are you so pale and grey?
Then the reality strikes deep into my heart
This is our last swim together
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
Why are you smiling?
Why are so happy?
Why do you want to leave me so quickly?
Why? Why? Why?
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
Walking from the water
I turn to look for you
I catch a glimpse of you
You look so happy my love
Then my heart skips a beat
I see you wave then turn away
Swimming and having fun
Memories of you…
Rain will always hide these tears in my eyes
When the thunder laughs my soul will die
Will I hear your voice?
Will I touch your skin?
Will the ocean waves let me in?
Sitting on the beach
Watching the ocean
Knowing that you’ll always be happy now
I will visit you soon my beloved Anne
Soon we’ll swim together again
Rest in Peace my sweet love
Rest in Peace

Time's dominion
Mountain,
silent warrior,
bearing time’s scars
in its noble crags.
Ocean,
mountain’s mirror,
refusing time’s ravage,
without form and void.
Mountain,
decayed, honest,
embracing time
with dignity.
Ocean,
time’s subconscious,
internalising
polluted memories.
Tide,
ocean’s heartbeat
on the shoreline,
outside of time.
Mountain,
living.
Ocean,
dying.
Its soul unfurling
to time’s dominion.
