Practice

The novice musician sits down to play
His scales and the piece for the simple joy
Of self-improvement. While he seeks to find
Mastery, only through the failures can
He progress—Only through perpetual
Repetition can he remember songs
That he systematic'lly practices
Until he's better than how he began.
He alters his gestures—articulates
His movements—away from what sounded wrong,
What discordant tones came forth to destroy
The precise sequence of notes he had planned.
Through gradual change, each sound will belong
To something greater: something to enjoy.

George Santayana

Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

A World That Is Learning

Their words are killing you
Your fear is part of their agenda
You feel them shaking you
And if you question their offended
Can you really risk the failure of never being wrong
Can you really take the chance
that you just don't belong to
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning that everyone is blind
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning
TV is changing you
You lock the doors and seal the windows
You feel so paranoid
It's like your dead before they get you
Can you really risk the failure of never being wrong
Can you really take the chance
that you just don't belong to
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning that everyone is blind
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning we're running out of time
This world is killing you
You've lost control of all your senses
The speed is shaking you
Things change so fast you can't remember
Should you play it say and write somebody elses songs
Or write your own though there's a chance
that you just don't belong to
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning that everyone is blind
A world that is searching to find
A world that is learning that we're running out of time
A world that we just can't afford
With half of us counting on the coming of the
Lord
A world that is searching for love
A world that is yearning

Back Where You Belong

I heard you're askin how I'm feelin
I guess I'll play it day by day
I'm still around now my heart is healin
But something's never gonna change
Cause now I know love ain't easy to find
I let you go, now I'm changing my mind
I know that love, it don't come easy
Took so long, it's been hard to find
And so, love, you must believe me
Ain't gonna let it slip away
I know I was wrong
I want you back where you belong
Want you back where you belong
Back where you belong
I've played around now
I've done some dealin
I found that love should be with you
And so you're gone now
My head is reelin'
Don't wanna be with someone new
And so I go with a feelin inside
Because I know what I'm leavin behind
I know that love, it don't come easy
It took so long it's been hard to find
And so, love, you must believe me
Ain't gonna let it slip away
I know I was wrong
I want you back where you belong
Want you back where you belong
Back where you belong
I guess in time
I'd stop and think it over
Everything that we've been through
This heart of mine may never find another
Who loves me just the way you do
I heard you're askin how I'm feelin
I guess I'll play it day by day
I'm still around now my heart is healin'
But something's never gonna change
Cause now I know love ain't easy to find
I let you go, now I'm changin' my mind
(repeat chorus

One By One

I remember wasting time
Watching as the planes fly by
I remember hearing the engines echoing through the sky
And they used to say
That someday you'll forget it
You won't hear them
And they used to say
That time goes by
That nothing changes
[Chorus]
I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
One by one I'll prove you wrong
I remember every night
Sitting by the runway side
I remember waiting for a reason to say goodbye
And they used to say
That someday you'll forget it
You won't hear them
And they used to say
The day goes by but you can't change it
[CHORUS]
Sometimes I think I've been wrong
But this is the place that I think I belong
And everytime I speak my mind I'm leaving you behind
and I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
I won't miss my flight again
I'm not where I belong
So give me just one chance
And one by one I'll prove you wrong
one by one I'll prove you wrong
one by one I'll prove you wrong
one by one I'll prove you wrong

Do you remember failures?

Are you asking me? Yes, I remember my failures
Lots and lots of failures in my life,
I look back again and remember these failures
And my God, how deeply was I hurt,
I cried on some of them,
When friends left when love was lost
When relatives did not give support
When I was all alone

When I finally rise again
And recovered from the past, when I learned
And met success again

When I have become stronger
Rising from every fall, recovering from every failure

I always remember them with fondness
The hurts diminishing, the blames now faint

As the new sound of success reverberates
Claiming new friendships and new approaches

And the comfort that life is like that
Success and failure? A seesaw that we really have to play.

She Believes (In Me)

While she lays sleeping
I stay out late at night and play my songs
And sometimes all the nights can be so long
And it's good when I finally make it home,
All alone
While she lays dreaming
I touch her face across the silver light
I see her dreams that drift up to the sky
And she wakes up to my kiss ,and i say it's alright
And i hold her tight
Chorus:
And she believes in me
I'll never know just what she sees in me
I told her someday if she was my girl
I could change the world...With my songs
I was wrong
But she has faith in me
And so I go on trying faithfully
Forever in my heart she will remain
And i hope and pray
I will find a way....find a way
While she lays waitin
I ask myself why do i hurt her so
Whats calls me on along this lonely road
Why don't i turn around and head back home
Where i belong
While she lays cryin
Cause she knows my heart is ripped in two
I'm torn between the things that i should do
She deserves it all , and i'd give it if i could
That a love is true
Chorus:
Cause she believes in me
I'll never know just what she sees in me
I told her someday if she was my girl
I could change the world
With my songs
But i was wrong
But she has faith in me
And so I go on trying faithfully
Forever in my heart she will remain
And i hope and pray
I will find a way....find a way
While she lays
while we waits for me

Anticipating Others' Schemes

in bed we finally find the chance
to know what is there
outside it rains what is there outside
the rain what is in it that makes the rain
we keep our silence
we have not found the word
to describe the calamity that we know
she is here
we do not invite her because she is a discordant voice
that we respect that we know shall hurt us
somehow we always make her prevail
we belong to her
but she does not belong to us anymore
she intends to stay
but we do not mind her anymore
she is a piece of paper and we do not intend
to write any letter
not even a slip of our tongues
she is rain herself and then we pretend
that we like getting wet
that we are stones.

Love Is Like A Big Brass Band

For our first time together I wanted everything to be just right
I prayed for good weather
For we were going to a concert in the park that night
I wanted violins and sweet romantic melodies
But when the band began to play
It didnt turn out quite that way
For there were trumpets and trombones making sad sounds and glad tones
And notes that I will never understand
And there were tin horns and oboes and saxophone solos
Now you know and I know love is like a big brass band
We wasted no time now, we planned a wedding for the first of june
Hear the wedding bells chime now
And see the folks all watching for the bridge and groom
Waiting for violins and sweet romantic melodies
But when we started down the aisle
You should have seen the preacher smile
For there were trumpets and trombones making sad sounds and glad tones
And notes that I will never understand
And there were tin horns and oboes and saxophone solos
Now I know and you know love is like a big brass band

Back Where You Belong

I felt so sure of the love that we shared
There was no reason on earth to be scared
Then I heard a rumor, it started to grow
Slowly but surely, the truth began to show
Then I started wonderin, as I picked up the phone
And a man started askin, if you were at home
You treat me like a fool, but youre so wrong
Im gonna send you back where you belong
I put my trust in you, but I was wrong
Im gonna send you back where you belong
You treat me like a fool, but youre so wrong
Im gonna send you back where you belong
I never had any doubt in my mind
Now you have shown me, love can make you blind
Back where you belong, back where you belong
Back where you belong, back where you belong
Back where you belong, back where you belong
Back where you belong, back where you belong
Back where you belong, back where you belong
Back where you belong...

Observation

Where do I go now from here?
Is there any place somewhere?
I can sit peacefully for a moment
Watch gracefully all the movements

I found nothing wrong with the nature
It existed and all were there for future
Birds flew in raw with nice formation
Why then all of sudden such transformation?

River too had musical and orderly flow
Fragrance in air with sweet voice of cuckoo and crow
All added to the beautiful surrounding and weather
Nature had it all with glory to its feather

I still need to search the soul
Not to smell rat and find the foul
May be that I lack the vision and sense
Why can’t I see all across the fence?

We may fail to notice gradual change
It may have its own sphere and range
Still there is so much to observe
Best efforts to maintain and preserve

We have changed a lot in comparison
Not much in common and act in unison
Indulge in loot, murder and arson
I find no logic and solid reason

Nature may have its noble role to play
It has its roots and relation with the clay
We may act different and hold the sway
One thing for sure we are drifting and going away

Will it deliver anything good?
Millions may perish for the want of food
Alienation from nature is not good indication
Unhealthy environment may lead to suffocation

Let us not starve ourselves for simple reason
Not to act in haste with any of the season
Believe in natural law with respect to all
We may flourish together with humanity call

Let Us Learn How To Play!

Life is a game,
Full of anxiety,
Full of excitement,
Who is the player?

I, you and we are players
if we are all players,
for what we play?
For what we have to play?
For money or name,
Or to gain some toys
to feel only more pain?

We take nothing at the end,
trophies and medals,
will not have meaning,
why we run here and there,
Jump and hop,
laugh and weep, Why we strive to win?

We never know causes,
Whose effect is this life?
We don't know our cause here,
And we talk of causes!
What cause may take us where?
Useless to think, just play your game!

Find the player
who play and enjoy all alone,
Creating own ground and arena,
He plays and enjoys the game,
so many things bring us shame,
Our own thoughts and deeds,
Who is enemy of us greater than these?
Let him play his game,
Pray him for rest,
sit and meditate at his feet,
Or get the yellow card for wrong play!
Anyway find a way to sit aside,
Let others play,
let us rest a while,
Watch and learn how to play!

Tapped or Trapped or Rapped?

The world, when wide, demanded empires vast.
Economies of scale appeared to be
uneven, and applied imperfectly,
as sound and fury buttressed ruling caste.
But times have changed, fresh horoscopes are cast,
Pluto downsized, Galileo, Copernicus, Vinci,
excommunicating Ptolemy.
This does not mean we’ve banished to the past
self-centered viewpoints, understood at last
small rhymes with beauty, ending poverty.
Newton, then Einstein, new technology
engendered, superstitions overcast.
One constant challenge cannot be bye-passed, -
Man’s nature alters slowly, ‘progress’ fast.

Man’s nature alters slowly, but Mankind
is t[r]apped within a spiral none control.
Few men pretend to understand the role
they’re meant to play, and ‘constantly’ we find
old infrastructures fissure. Though the mind
grows outwards while the race would race to bowl
all trace of old established tenets. Soul –
if soul there be – seems out at ‘see’, purblind
become, while standards must be redefined
against a background where, from pole to pole,
the sole remaining constant – change – no goal
dares guarantee, with ‘Change’ ‘Chance’ intertwined.
Interdisciplinary walls fall fast,
Past’s foundation bulwarks overcast.

Alzheimer's Ballroom

Do you remember how that song sounded
Before the record was scratched and skipping?
Now, it seems like the notes are surrounded
By fuzzy white noise and constant clipping.
The melody dances out of focus…
The orchestra dissolves in the speakers…
But… do you remember the two of us
Waltzing? My memory must be weaker…
I can recollect how I felt back then,
But the music… is fading. You… are fading.
Ev'rytime I enter that fog again,
I'm closer to forever evading
What I've lost in all the things that I've found.
I don't remember how that song should sound.

The Welsh Rugby

The Welsh have feelings about rugby

No other Nation can describe

They sing all their rugby songs

To keep the game alive.

We hate to lose at rugby

And cannot stand defeat

Their songs are sang much louder

As they stand out of their seats.

The Millennium Stadium

Is their National rugby ground

You need to see a Welsh rugby match

To enjoy the immense sound.

The Three Feathers as a logo

Sits right above Welsh hearts

They sing their National Anthem

Before the Rugby starts.

So come on the Welsh rugby teams

Play the game like a proper side

Because the Nation is behind you

So play the game with pride.

Divine existence

We can’t deny divine existence
There should not be wrong notion or insistence
It is for us to know real value and its place
Hough there is fast life with mad race

We have polluted thoughts and environment
Every action of our speak of adverse comment
We have left no room for slight adjustment
Only selfish motives behind every movement

You are strong individual and remain continuous
You can prefer to act role that can be called dubious
Yet the reality may remain as it is for time to come
We have to adjust accordingly and welcome

You should not try to see the hollowness of sky
Your mind should not be perturbed and ask why
The stars may twinkle and moon may appear without fail
You should set priority, set target and avail

You can’t disregard sweeping change
Even person tend to become fragile with age
The environment too may witness gradual transformation
We must analyze and respect the relation

Kings have disappeared and despots have taken over
Public is tired of and now finding shelter or cover
This may also find disappearance in phased manner
The change has to come later or sooner

You can remain mere spectator
The gradual change is simple indicator
You got to live with changing world
As you are supreme with your soul which is not yet sold
