For Atheists on Christmas Day

It is my goal to find every spiritual experience I can,
So I became curious about what an atheist church might be like.
I sought out a place where I could go
To test myself, and question whether or not anything holistic
Could exist, challenging all my metaphysical quandaries
To find if I could, for that moment, believe in no deity—
Whether or not I actually do is irrelevant to understanding—
Or anything supernatural.
When I found that temple of doubt,
I realized what they were talking about,
Or at least became convinced that God had gone blind
Or has an astigmatism or needs glasses or something.
I lost my faith in all things right there.
I even lost my faith in my species,
Hoping that Descartes was completely wrong with
Cogito Ergo Sum, and that I wasn't real,
And only an illusion to something else
That makes no sense to me,
If me is what I am.
That's when I decided that I'm never going to Wal-Mart ever again.

An Atheist believes that a hospital should be built instead of a church. An atheist believes that deed must be done instead of prayer said. An atheist strives for involvement in life and not escape into death. He wants disease conquered, poverty vanished, war eliminated.

Traffic Jam: The Trap Of Traffic Light

It's not only test your luck, but also test your patience
It's not only test your guts, but also test your instinct
It's not only test your sanity, but also test your obedience to law
It's not only test your ethics, but also test your fidelity
It's not only test your sight, but also test your reflex
It's not only test your estimation of time, but also test your street knowledge
It's not only test your ego, but also test your kindness

I am atheist in a very religious mould. I'm always asking myself the big questions. Where did we come from? Is there a meaning to all of this? When I find myself in church, I edit the hymns as I sing them.

Come Out, Come Out Wherever You Are

As a 'precocious' child,
And extremely curious...
The playing of hide and seek,
Was fun until it wasn't.
Yes...
I use to peek to see,
Where the others would hide first...
Before I found a place impossible,
To be found.
Then I would leave the neighborhood,
To walk around and adventure.

And when I returned,
Those same kids would be hiding.
To be sought.

Today?
Those same 'kids' are hiding,
To be sought.
And there is something about that,
I no longer find amusing.

Come out, come out wherever you are.
Your children have become crazed.

I'm not a big fan of religion for that reason. But I am a true believer in God, and I have great faith, and I think that a spiritual connection with something is a really important part of our experience. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the church.

Wicked Teacher

Experience a wicked teacher
You push us into test
And examine our stuff
Before you begin to teach

How rigid you are
Your lessons linger on
Your scars never fade
Your memory ever fresh

Experience a wicked teacher
You don’t care about age
You teach the young
And warn the old

Experience a wicked teacher
You don’t pity our scars
But leave us with time
To bind our wound

Experience a wicked teacher
You never stop your test
Often we dodge it
But to meet it ahead.

Setup To Fail

When you come to test someone,
You believe is unprepared?
AND with a confidence,
You will be the one to pass...
YOUR 'test',
Easily!
To then leave and be on your way?
Be sure your activities,
Have not been scrutinized...
Prior to administering 'your' test.

What appears to be simple...
May keep your brain twisted,
For the rest of your life.
Riddled with doubts you question.

When you come to test someone,
You believe is unprepared?
AND with a confidence,
You will be the one to pass...
YOUR 'test',
Easily?
Remember this...
You just may be the one,
Being setup to fail.

Some Have Steeples. Some Don't

What do I think of church?

'Yes! '

Church?
Like in 'church' church?

'Yes! '

Well...
Some have steeples.
Some don't.
Some have people.
Some wont.

Some are religiously political.
And some are politically religious.

My vehicle is my church.
And that's all I care about.

'Oh?
So your 'car' is your church? '

Oh.
No no!
My 'body' is my church.
It is my sanctuary.

Now...
Keep in mind,
I am not devoted to keep it as pure,
As it should be.
But I do the best I can,
Not to be led away by temptation.

But everyday I pray to be forgiven,
Of those 'sins' I know I should not enjoy!
However...
You can find me anytime,
Self righteously defending...
My point of view.

Less Than Pure

We're going to go downtown
I hear this great new place has opened up
And when we get there
I don't know It's taken ages
Don't you know
How long how long
Will this go on
How long how long
Time drags on
How long I find I
can't go on much longer now
But the place in question's hard to find
Not a cab ride to the door
As you wonder in your doubtful mind
Is it really worth all that and more
We seem to be a little lost or something
I'm not really sure about the choice we're making
The toil it's taking on
How long how long
Will this go on
How long how long
The time drags on
How long
I find I can't go on much longer now
But the place in question's hard to find
Like an illness with no cure
And our heads are getting wearier
And our hearts are less than pure
Less than pure
How long I find
I can't go on much longer now
And the place in question's hard to find
Not a cab ride to the door
And our heads are getting wearier
And our hearts are less than pure

The Vow

The test of the vow comes,
In the latter, not the former.
For better, richer and in health are all easy.
For worse, for poorer and in sickness,
Is the true test.
Love, honor & cherish?
Myself, or the one?
To whom was the vow made?
To the one in front of God,
Or to God in front of the one?
Love will never be complete,
If we do not finish what we started.
We fall in and out of love.
Love, as a feeling.
Does the one pick you up when you fall?
To carry you through,
As was promised in the first place.
Like innocence and guilt,
Love must also be proven true.
Not by words, decision or mind.
All can be changed.
But by spirit, patience and conviction.
All enduring to the end.
The end of ourselves in the spiritual.
What we choose to live by.
What we choose to uphold.
Was really the promise we made at the start.
It is really the test of another.
That proves the test of our love,
To the one that created it.
Which is what proves us to be true.

At Her Place

To make love at her place,
But, how long will this be in your heart?
And like your love based on mine in the land of my muse,
With 20 years of experience.

You are like the critter in question today,
Amazingly! !
But with the works of love as exposed to others as well,
However, i will always find my way home.

Ensuring,
Studies,
Described;
But it makes salmonella look like a picnic! !
For you made love to her at her place.

Meaning Of Life

What is the meaning of life
Is it to be born and then to die
To that question once again I have thought
As once again for that answer I have sought.
Just to understand just why we are here
Is it to bring joy and hopefully not a tear
to live strong each and every day
And then every night to kneel and pray.
Is it to see how far that we can go
Or how much knowledge we can place in our soul
Is it to marry and then take a husband or a wife
Or is it just simply to help others with their strife.
As I look out my window and as I do think
Life can either end or begin with just a wink
We are here and then we can be gone
And after all in the end we are all but just one.
Is it just an accident that we are born
Was it an accident that our world was formed
Are there a reason that we are here to stand
Truly I wish to that question I could just understand.
To understand our life and our being
Many have said that research is never ending
As there is no true answer just why we are here
And if there was would our hope and wonder disappear.
As I think to myself could life itself be just a test
To see how far we make it in life's quest.
Where our soul and conscience is the preacher
And then GOD himself is our Teacher.
