Echopraxia

I can see myself
Clearly in the reflection
Of my mirror,
A fluid glass pane.
I am a ripple,
A skipping stone
Dropped in the depths
Of the parallel world
That seems to exist
On the other side.

I am dripped in the water,
Drying out in the sodium deposits—
Dehydrated and drowning
Simultaneously.
I plunge deeper still,
Unable to adjust
The shifting sands
Spiraling down, around me.
They rub away at
My pearl lined pupils.

The pressure increases
The further I go.
My lungs,
Like oxygen balloons,
Blow up with pocketing air,
Packed and condense,
Popping before I surface.
They collapse as
Elastic shrapnel
Buzzing as I breathe.

My chest fills with blood
While I slowly sink, sink, sink.
The salt stains
The leaking aqueducts
That stream from the sea of myself
Or who I think I am.
In thick, murky algae water,
Do I really have control
Of that which I see?
Do I really?

I stretch outward,
My muscles twitch
As my arms reach
To grasp at the current
That pushes me,
That tosses me,
Dizzied and disoriented,
Plummeting into nowhere,
Down the whirlpool
Which contorts my reflexes.

Through the crystal skin,
The diamond crusted shimmer,
A spectrum of liquid clarity
Radiates
And pours through the space
That separates my fingers.
What do I find in this,
But an echo of myself
Trickling backwards
To the source?

I Am Ready to Jump

My body trembles;
I am ready to jump,
my entire body moves slowly as I take a few steps back,
I run- my arms feel like lead.

As I reach the edge,
I realize this wasn't so smart.
Now as I fall down, down, down,
through the air, I start to cry.

Salty tears slide up into my hair,
the vast body of water looms ever closer;
should I close my eyes?

Surely when I hit the water
I will die instantly.
Or will I find nothing but frothing water
and agonizing pain?

In an instant, I plunge into the icy water,
I'm not dead, I don't feel any pain.
But something keeps pulling me down,
and so I sink into the icy water.

'I'm not ready to die! ' screams a voice in
the back of my head.
And so I try to swim upward,
moving my arms that feel like lead.

No longer am I in a sea of salt and water,
but of porridge;
thick like mud.
So I stoke harder, faster;
going nowhere.

Exausted with fatigue I look for a shore line,
there is nothing but water.
As far as my eyes can see,
there is nothing but water.

And so I give up,
no more trying.
I fall back into the water;
eyes still open, stinging.

I fade into the depths of the water,
praying silently to my God;
singing my last song,
as I start to drift and nod.

Deep Water

Is it a crime for me to be feeling this way
I'm going out of my mind and there's
no change from a runaway love
Is it a dream (is it a dream)
That I'm throwing in the wishing well
I'm losing control my body and soul
(body and soul)Standing here waiting
for a train that may never come
I saw the signs I read the books
I should of had a second look
ut you caught me dreaming
nd there were times you'd come around a
we'd agreed to just be friends tell
me who it's fooling oooo
Deep water I'm drowning
Deep water I'm slowly drowning in deeper
Deep water I'm drowning
Deep water I'm slowly drowning in deeper
what do I say(what can I say)
where words have failed me before
what do i do when i'm feeling so blue
and there's no place for me to run and hide
I saw the sun inside your smile and wished
for then just awhile cause boy you caught
me dreaming a giant step into the dark
and we through caution to the wind tell
me who we're fooling oooo
Deep water I'm drowning
deep water i'm slowly drowning in deeper
Deep water i'm drowning
deep water i'm slowly drowning deeper
i'm drowning
deeper deeper i'm drowning in deeper
oh i saw the signs i read the book
i should have had a second look
cause boy you caught me dreaming
and there are times youd come around
and we'd agreed to just be friends tell me who it's fooling
Deep water i'm drowning
deep water i'm slowly drowning in deeper
deep water i'm drowning
deep water i'm slowly drowning in deeper
deeper deeper deeper
i'm drowning in deeper
(drowning in drowning in drowning in)
deeper deeper deeper
so deep is the water
(drowning in drowning in drowning in)

You are into a relationship

You are on a ship
In a traveling crowd
Alone
And you look at the sea
You have no direction
And seeing you lonely
The sea says
“come into me
my love for you is boundless
my resources for you are limitless”

and you look at yourself
on a ship
you have no choice
you have nothing to lose
you take nothing with you

and you jump
into a relationship
with the sea

the sea makes love to you
you feel nothing
you sink
you sink deeper & deeper
into a relationship
and you feel
you are all wrapped
all over with its waves
your arms bound
your hands can not move
you can not help yourself anymore

you sink
you sink deeper & deeper & deeper
you see everything about the sea

the sea loves you
with all its resources
with all its love
you feel nothing

you sink
you sink deeper
you feel nothing
you are dead

you were already dead
a long long time ago

when you were
on that ship
you did not make any scream against your own shadow

Time~

Time waits for no one
Tick tocking itself along
Even measured seconds
Morphing into minutes
Minutes into hours
Into days, months
And, yes years;
Where did it all?
Down the drain?
Much like the water
Draining in the sink...
This sink that we call life
This sink that once held it all...
The sink, my sink, once full now empty
Down the drain
Kind of like my life;

No Sea Change

I plummet downward in your gaze
Of viscid blue—
A blue muted in the sea of malaise.
Deeper now, light withdrew
In the darkness.

To you, I've become a drowned man,
And my eyes fix
As unflinchingly steady as they can
When salt and vision mix.
What do I see?

Only a crusted reflection
Somewhere below
In the black pools of broad disaffection!
As whirling rage does show,
I watch myself.

I watch as the prolixity
Of my breathing
Fades into the trenches of obscurity
And of cryptic seething.
I watch air slow.

I notice how my lungs deflate
Like they're punctured
Balloons popping against silence's weight
And tension's sharp juncture.
You are quiet.

You stare through me. Further, I drift
Into nothing
When I wanted to dive into the rift
To find something soothing
As I find you.

Don't Ask For Water

I hate this old place
And what it represents
And I hate who I was
And who I ended up since
But if you learned how to swim in case you'd drowned
Don't ask her for the water
Cause she'll swallow you down
And she's ten miles of peace
And the hardest of nights
And her belfry's got arch
But her rooftops all right
But down here in the sewer
I'm smelling a rat
Don't ask her for the Whiskey
Cause her waters all that
And what horses we rode
Through what somber fields
With our lovers at war
And the dust on their heels
And the infidels screamed, ?it's all but a lie?
Don't ask her for the water,
Cause she'll teach you to cry
Don't ask her for the water
Cause she'll teach you to cry
And her weapon of choice is a red-patterned dress
And a sac full of stones
With her hands on her chest
And a book full of quotes
And a tight fastened lip
Don't ask her for the water
Cause you'll sink like a ship
Don't ask her for the water
Cause you'll sink like a ship

Ping One Down

We'll return to the ocean
Ride the tide again
Taste the water, jump right in
And try to swim
So ping one down
Let it sink
Sink on down
Like heavy metal
We should take off the lotion
Let the sun shine in
Admire the holes with shaded eyes
And fry again
And ping one down
Let it sink
Sink on down
Like heavy metal
Ping one down
Let it sink
Don't ponce around
Like poor old men
Colour clean
This sterile scene
Move as we please
No use in complaining
Purify now
Saints alive
We're all deprived
Be careful what you're saying
We've been on a safari
Just collecting skin
Head to toe in camouflage
But high again
So ping one down
And let it sink
Sink on down
Like heavy metal
Colour clean
This sterile scene
Move as we please
No use in complaining
Purify now
Saints alive
We're all deprived
Be careful what you're saying
Careful what you're saying
Careful what you're saying

Helium

Fuel emotions, killing me
Pure devotion, cut and bleed,
Your the crystal, the ecstasy,
The drug that keeps feeding me.
So come on.
Torn together we sow the seed,
Bring the pleasure back for free,
The world is frozen but
I can taste new life every time I breathe.
So come on, get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high kicking in.
Change the system, break the shape,
New connection hands to make,
Find the honey and learn to taste again,
Bring it back again,
So come on.
Burn forever, learn to feed,
Find the pleasure its yours to keep.
The world is frozen,
But I can taste new life every time I breathe.
So come on, get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high, kicking in...
Get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high kicking in...
Come together, feel the heat,
Suck the life left right out of me,
The world is frozen,
But I can taste new life every time I breathe.
Every step I take,
Every drop I bleed
So come on, get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high kicking in...
Get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high kicking in...
Get in,
Take a ride, till you sink,
Come on, get in,
Lets feel a new high kicking in...

Overcome

even now the world is bleedin' but feelin' just fine all numb
in our castle where we're always free to choose never free enough
to find i wish somethin' would break cuz we're runnin' out of time

and i am overcome i am overcome holy water in my lungs i am overcome

these women in the street pullin' out their hair my master's
in the yard givin' light to the unaware this plastic little place
is just a step amongst the stairs

and i am overcome i am overcome baby holy water in my lungs i am overcome

so drive me out out to that open field turn the ignition off
and spin around your help is here but i'm parked in this open space
blockin' the gates of love

i am overcome i am overcome holy water in my lungs i am overcomed

beautiful drowning this beautiful drowning this holy water
this holy water is in my lungs

and i am overcome i am overcome i am overcome i am overcome

You Find Yourself Drowning

You find yourself drowning-water going into your nose and mouth.
You find yourself drowning of that you have no doubt.
Your arms are flaring wildly as you struggle to reach the top
You know you must continue- you know you can not stop.

You know you’ve been in this position
Many times before, but you always seem to
Make it to the far distant shore.
You take a deep breathe as your instinct
For survival comes into play.
You know you have to fight to live another day.

You reach land and you know a new battle
Will begin- peer pressure, life s pressures
How are you going to win?

You ask yourself: how can this be?
You can drown on land- not just in the sea?
Every time you’ve survived
Who do you think was there
It was JESUS giving a helping hand.

He’s been by your side, every minute
Of every day, he will pick you up
He will not turn away.

So do not get discouraged, do not despair
Put your faith in GOD, he is always there.

Praecaveo Lectoris (Reader, Beware)

We watch the fireflies flicker
dim and dangerous in the darkness
and dream of stars above so bright
that they outshine the moon

We laugh at water rushing in around us
as we sink, sink, sink
and drown eventually
in our fears and even our hope

We shape the heavens in our dreams,
wondering at the impossibilities
and glitter at the clouds,
and dance for the stars and sing for the lost

We look at one another,
laughing, grinning, joking, enjoying...open our eyes
and gasp at the mirror before us
throwing back nightmares and fear

It is not the predator that hunts us,
that lingers in the afterglow, waiting
It is not the shadows that plot against us,
waiting for us to blow out the light

It is the crushing feeling in our chest
that leaves us empty, choking, wanting,
It is the flash of heat in our back
that paralyzes us and chains our tears

and smiles silver in the moonlight...
pushing us deeper into the night
where the sounds whisper in our ear to let it go...
to let the chance pass

We take ourselves home for the day
and rush, rush, rush to arrive
and search the tube for meaning
and think dark thoughts...

Until the scent, so common now,
wakes us up to eat and drink and laugh...
and fall asleep
like practicing for death

Visual Snow

My sight fills with television static.
I disconnect as my vision impairs.
The blue field debris becomes erratic.
Faint, shaking particles stipple the air.
They grow heavier as my breathing thins,
And my bones melt, osmosing through my skin.
I feel my muscles slowly liquefy.
Sweat bathes my brow. I sink to petrify
Where I stand—where the sound has panned away.
I hear a muffled chorus hum beside me.
A high-pitched tone drones almost endlessly.
My thoughts as they were scramble and decay.
I'm disoriented, and my loss grows
Beneath falling mounds of visual snow.

You Cant Put Your Arms Around Whats Already Gone

I saw red, stayed at home
Placed a big pillow over the phone
In this town where Im from
Ive learned two is so much better than one
But you left me alone
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Watch you sink like a stone
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Well, you hurt to the core
You used to kiss like no one had done before
And your taste turned me on
Now you drive me real crazy just by being born
Cos you left (left left left) me alone (left me alone)
And you cant put your arms around whats already gone
Watch you sink like a stone
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Baba b-baba b-baba ba
Baba b-baba b-baba ba
Took the tram round the bay
Where everyone tells you to have a nice day
And my pride almost broke
When the tears dont fit you, you look like a joke
And you left (left left left) me alone (left me alone)
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Cryin eyes gettin worn
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Hey, you left (left left left) me alone (left me alone)
You cant put your arms around whats already gone
Watch you sink like a stone
You cant put your arms around whats already gone

Island of time

As I lay here
in my ocean of thoughts
letting my emotions
flow around me

I wonder how long
will I stay above the water
before I start to sink,
sink in the memories of my past

I think of him
and all that has been
I begin to feel the current
getting stronger

I start to go under
so I hold my breathe
waiting for the thought
to pass

I pass out
and awake on a beach
the only place I'm safe
from my thoughts

The beach is my present
reminding me to live for here
and now
reminding me my past is gone

I stare to the forest before me
I do not know
What is to come
as I travel into the unknown

Deep Water

I'm drowning, I'm sinking.
down. down. down.
I can breath but not a lot.
I reach for the surface,
but someone pushes me deeper down.

I look up to see the waves above my head.
I'm drowning, deeper. deeper. deeper.
I can't seem to catch myself.
Help! I scream, but no one hears me.

Is it all a dream? I ask.
Is it only a nightmare? I ask.
No. it's real. I tell myself. It's real.

I'm going even deeper,
then out of the blue,
someone reaches in and pulls me out.
I'm soaking wet at first,
but then I feel dry all of a sudden.

All my pain, soarness, agravation, hurt, and anger,
he took away from me.
Now I am calm, happy, considerate, and pasionate.
I am eaisy to let it go.

I am no longer drowning, and i never get to deep.
I know know how to float.

In the chain of being

Me and you
Breathing
In the chain of being

Being recharged under the rainbow
Burying its blue
In the blue liquid of the sea

Which is in fact a big mirror
Reflecting our images backwards
Left to right
(They never reverse left and right)

When our thoughts nervously break down
(They are still alive)
Especially when they become so blue
In the salty liquid of tears
They slowly start to become blue-green algae
In the salty liquid of sea

Our feelings
Are scissored by words
Until they become evidences

And our dreams
Are shackled by old chains
Of the same hate

Our wounds still bleed
In the shell of soul

You choose an angle of light
Created by the moon
To slowly step
From past to present
And back again.

I see your blue uncertainties

We drink water
From the melted ice
Of the moon

I still want to do
Something incredible
That can make me happy.
However,
I don't know any longer
What exactly I want to do
Anyway,
There's already nothing we can do
Anymore

Baby,
It's really nothing
We can do

But we can try
To understand
Who we really are

You and me
Chained in the same being
Near the blue of the rainbow

Waiting
The last sandcastle to
Irreversibly

Lullaby

In sleep, you keep lingering on
Blooming with the blossoming dawn-
My penetrating piece of mind
Pretending this time, fate is kind.
So now we go, let loose, sow seeds,
Plant in mother Earth what she needs;
Stewing synapses, boiling blood
Because we're playing in the mud.

Pockets of perfume in the air.
I act like I've been unaware,
But the scent sends itself to me.
Surrender my senses to thee.
My chances… They haven't been blown.
Together, we are now alone.
A breeze to please, breathe in, release.
Tension teases us toward peace.

There's something attractive in
The fire catching in your skin.
Cares caressed as we rest regrets,
There's no reason to be upset.
All the bad things: they disappear.
Through the smoke screen, the signal clears:
Glowing bright in the soft, low lights
Of the pyre we built tonight.

Soaked in your sweat and salty tears,
Dive deeper than the sea appears.
Washed over, riding on the waves
Feel how the rhythmic flow behaves.
Then when words waft with the current,
We will wonder where the time went.
Plunge back in, then splash, sink or swim;
Sink and swim, spasm of the limbs.

Rigor Mortis

Watch slowly drying up
Her eyeballs sink in deep
Pale-colored cheek cups shrink
As the body rests in sleep.

No rising of the chest to breathe
No movement of the arms
Stiffness envelops it with
A darkening of her charms.

Color slowly fades the hands
Darkened fingers stiffen
Legs straight in a mute stand
Death forcefully had taken.

All men will fall in a salute
To the Conqueror of finite things
Eternal sentence to commute
Unwelcomed, but he is coming.

No choices made, we all but follow
And march towards the grave
Our naked destiny for tomorrow
For rich, for poor, and for the brave.
