Cross Vast Unknown Seas

like Viking Nordic adventurers of old
we too must cross vast unknown seas
to our own Vineland never realizing admitting
ancient Egyptians Israelites Romans voyaged
these vast once crossed current charted seas
where went what did remains history untold

Vast Times And Vast Spaces

VAST TIMES AND VAST SPACES

Vast times and vast spaces
Preceded our being here
Vast times and vast spaces
Will be should we disappear-

Yet our hearts tell us
A revelation from God we be-
And wherever the Universe takes us
We’ll go on for Infinity.

Andrew Mcauley

He is out there with Nature his is a watery grave
The man who loved adventure but he was truly brave
His kayak was found capsized just out of Milford Sound
A day or two and he would be with family and friends and safe on solid ground.

Andrew Mcauley the Australian adventurer was so close to history
To be the first to kayak from Tasmania to New Zealand across the Pacific sea
He was a brave adventurer one who lived without fear
And he must have known to history that he was very near.

He did not make it to land this time luck not on his side
But he was a true adventurer and on his greatest adventure he died
He went so close to history till things for him went wrong
And amongst the great adventurers he surely does belong.

Somewhere in the vast Pacific his last remains now lay
And he did not live as many do for to grow old and gray
Dear Lady Luck ran out on him in his greatest ever test
And he died in his late thirties doing what he liked doing best.

Where I Belong

Float me out on the evening tide,
And I will sail the ocean blue,
Give me a boat and I will glide,
Across seas, to adventures new.

Give me a craft, strong and nimble,
That will chase the waves so free,
One that will be like a symbol,
Of the adventurer, that is me.

Let me face the thundering storms,
That range o'er this ocean vast,
And as each menacing cyclone forms,
I'll oppose every powerful blast.

I shall ride the winds that wildly blow,
That will take me journeying on,
And whether they travel fast or slow,
These seas are where I belong.

Song Of The Viking

I am a viking of some note
Knuts my name and here I float
Out on the sea in a great big boat
And Im the one who beats the drum in time
To stroke the oars that drive our galleons on
And while we rowed we had our song
And we had our god, and it may seem odd
But at least there was a cause
Caught a wind and we upped the sail
Lost two ships when it turned to a gale
Down went a third when she rammed on a whale
Though we despaired we could not fail
And through it all we never faltered
Late at night I lay on the decke
Wondering whye I risk my necke
Picture myselfe in a sinkinge wrecke
Ande downe ime goinge notte knowinge whye
I just cant quite recall the reason why
Its such a drag to carry on
But there was a cause, but there was a reason
If you like Ill be your viking
Sit you down to a nordic meal
Give you strength that you might wield
A viking sword and a viking shield
And off well sail in mighty ships of yore
Perhaps we shouldnt let our hands get sore
We need someone to pull the oars
And to do the chores
So we need a cause, so we need a reason why
(erik is here!)

Humility

When feelings of
Pride and vanity
Overwhelm me,
I close my eyes
And imagine…
The lofty hills,
The deep seas,
And the vast skies,
Humility overtakes me.

Saint Augustine

People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.

The Vengeance Of The Earth....

the earth is unfeeling
as man ravaged its forests
and poisons its seas and rivers
the earth does not say anything

it simply welcomes every destruction

and then it comes with its vast vengeance

Crescent Moon

If you're a galleon

I envy you
Calmly you sail the sea of night
Roughly I sail the seas of life

Where is your port of call
If it is certainty
Take me aboard
And keep me from
A fate to me unknown

Pick up my woes
and in the high seas
All of them jettison

Please take my love
And bring it forth
To a love one
Who's in a distant shore

Sailing On The Seven Seas

You say that love will capture me
But not unless you give it free
Were sailing on the seven seas
Sister ray is on tv
The light of love that shines so bright
That the f.b.i wont sleep tonight
Because Im so in awe of you
That I dont know what to do
And Im sailing on the seven seas so blue
Sick and tired and I dont know why
Skin and bone wont touch the sky
Sex and lies cant bring me down
Because Ive sold my soul all over town
Because Im so in awe of you
That I dont know what to do
And Im sailing on the seven seas so blue
People try and drag us down
So we learn to swim before we drown
Because Im so in awe of you
That I dont know what to do
And Im sailing on the seven seas so blue
And Im so in awe of you
That I dont know what to do
And Im sailing on
The seven seas so blue

The Roman Gravemounds

By Rome's dim relics there walks a man,
Eyes bent; and he carries a basket and spade;
I guess what impels him to scrape and scan;
Yea, his dreams of that Empire long decayed.

'Vast was Rome,' he must muse, 'in the worlds regard,
Vast it looms there still, Vast it ever will be;'
And he stoops as to dig and unmine some shard
Left by those who are held in such memory.

But no; in his basket, see, he has brought
A little white furred thing, stiff of limb,
Whose life never won from the world a thought;
It is this, and not Rome, that is moving him.

And to make it a grave he has come to the spot,
And he delves in the ancient dead's long home;
Their fames, their achievements, the man knows not;
The furred thing is all to him - nothing Rome!

'Here say you that Caesar's warriors lie? -
But my little white cat was my only friend!
Could she but live, might the record die
Of Caesar, his legions, his aims, his end!'

Well, Rome's long rule here is oft and again
A theme for the sages of history,
And the small furred life was worth no one's pen;
Yet its mourner's mood has a charm for me.

The Seas of England

The seas of England are our old delight:
Let the loud billow of the shingly shore
Sing freedom on her breezes evermore
To all earth’s ships that sailing heave in sight!

The gaunt sea-nettle be our fortitude,
Sturdily blowing where the clear wave sips;
O, be the glory of our men and ships
Rapturous, woe unheeding hardihood!

There is great courage in a land that hath
Liberty guarded by the unearthly seas;
And ev’n to find peace at the last in these
How many a sailor hath sailed down to death!

Their names are like a splendour in an old song;
Their record shines like bays along the years;
Their jubilation is the cry man hears
Sailing sun-fronted the vast deeps among.

The seas of England are our old delight:
Let the loud billow of the shingly shore
Sing freedom on her breezes evermore
To all earth’s ships that sailing heave in sight!

My illusions

Thousands of thoughts rise in mind at a time
It compels me to think seriously sometimes
It may not relevance as of now or today
But I can’t keep aloof from it and go away

I look at vast sea line and think of its deepness
How blue water in it reflect my simple face?
Big and small fishes run here and there
They face no hurdles or problems anywhere

Who can reason out the waves reaching at the shore?
Why do they separately dash against it and try more?
They seems to be in hurry to unite and show the strength
The waves may rise high and low with varying length

I think of vast blue and hollow sky
How it hangs without support and also why?
What keeps it in to spread with vast horizon?
No conclusion can be arrived or simply be drawn

Now we have different varieties of flowers
They are cross bedded and altered
Not original fragrance might have lost
But nothing more is left to trust

I rarely believe in speculation
Yes some propaganda is put deliberately in circulation
I may not really know about it and only wonder
I can stand under the sky and wait for clouds to thunder

What I want to know is not the mystery
It is also not needed to know complete history
As an intellectual you may have fascination for more knowledge
You want something to be written on blank page

Old Cemeteries

I love to go to old cemeteries
I’ve seen them all ‘cross country
Some are deep in the forest
They are so beautiful to me

Others are in vast prairie land
Small stones where children lay
I could almost hear voices
While they ran around in play

I’ve seen them in New Orleans
Folks are buried above the ground
It’s like a flash of history
With old cemeteries I have found

Of course there are the military
Like Vicksburg in Mississippi
Oh yes, I find cemeteries truly are
Part of American history!

In Port

Out of the fires of the sunset come we again to our own
We have girdled the world in our sailing under many an orient star;
Still to our battered canvas the scents of the spice gales cling,
And our hearts are swelling within us as we cross the harbor bar.

Beyond are the dusky hills where the twilight hangs in the pine trees,
Below are the lights of home where are watching the tender eyes
We have dreamed of on fretted seas in the hours of long night-watches,
Ever a beacon to us as we looked to the stranger skies.

Hark! how the wind comes out of the haven's arms to greet us,
Bringing with it the song that is sung on the ancient shore!
Shipmates, furl we our sailswe have left the seas behind us,
Gladly finding at last our homes and our loves once more.

A Palimpsest For Peace

Cross words cross across crossed wires.
Cross-purposes cross reconciliation off the list
As, crosswise, clockwise and counter-clockwise
Fight for costly cross-border dominance.
Cross voices cross between cross and crescent.
Quiescent sense lessens strength and ends
In senselessness as curses crush courtesy.
Cross-eyed viewpoints squint crossly
As cross-cultural conferences collapse.
Yet, crucially, crossed-fingers aloft,
If antagonists acquiesced in crossing over
To foster lost respect and tolerance,
We could cross off the past of bitterness,
Gross antipathy and once-crossed swords,
As cross-cooperation is consummated
As effortlessly as simply casting away
An anachronistic acrostic cryptic crossword.

The Desolate Field

Vast and grey, the sky
is a simulacrum
to all but him whose days
are vast and grey and --
In the tall, dried grasses
a goat stirs
with nozzle searching the ground.
My head is in the air
but who am I . . . ?
-- and my heart stops amazed
at the thought of love
vast and grey
yearning silently over me.

H2o

Bubbling up
from within
life giving,
quench my thirst.

Gathering in the grotto
spilling over its rim.

Trickle down,
a new begins.

Babbling brook.

Gentle stream.

Rapidly flowing river.

Ragging currents.

Frothy unsettled turbulence.

Under toe from beneath,
take
me
away.

Falling over rocks below.

Finding its way to open waters.

Great lakes
perhaps
beaver ponds.

Tributaries,
watersheds,
over abundance,
flood planes lie ahead.

Sediment washes away
to oceans
vast seas.

Sail upon them to distant shores,
explore the unknown.

Ebbing tide
called forth
mesmerizing moon.

Fathom deep
depths unknown.

Waves crashing ashore,
secluded bay
private lagoon.

Listen,
sirens song
calling.

Lift the Cong shell to your ear,
tell me
what
you
hear.

Sea and oceans

I trust in the sea.
I trust in the deep blue seas and oceans.
I trust in these becuase they can help me.
They can take me out of this world.

The seas are my friend.
When I go there I feel at peace.
If I die in the sea it'll be quick.
I can not swim.
But I am a bit dim.

The seas I'm now in.
Ready to drown.
You may think I am a clown.

But I am serious.
At sea I shall drown.

Thy Ship

Hadst thou a ship, in whose vast hold lay stored
The priceless riches of all climes and lands,
Say, woudst thou let it float upon the seas
Unpiloted, of fickle winds the sport,
And of wild waves and hidden rocks the prey?

Thine is that ship; and in its depths concealed
Lies all the wealth of this vast universe –
Yea, lies some part of God’s omnipotence
The legacy divine of every soul.
Thy will, O man, thy will is that great ship,
And yet behold it drifting here and there –
One moment lying motionless in port,
Then on high seas by sudden impulse flung,

Then drying on the sands, and yet again
Sent forth on idle quests to no-man’s land
To carry nothing and to nothing bring;
Till worn and fretted by the aimless strife
And buffeted by vacillating winds
It flounders on a rock, or springs a leak
With all its unused treasures in the hold.

Go save thy ship, thou sluggard; that the wheel
And steer to knowledge, glory and success.
Great mariners have made the pathway plain
For thee to follow; hold thou to the course
Of Concentration Channel, and all things
Shall come in answer to thy swerveless wish
As comes the needle to the magnet’s call,
Or sunlight to the prisoned blade of grass
That yearns all winter for the kiss of spring.

Cross My Heart

First time I crossed my heart I was beggin baby, please
At your bedside, down on my knees
When I crossed my heart
When I crossed my heart
I crossed my heart, pretty baby over you
Second time I crossed my heart rain came in from the south
I was lyin there with something sweet and salty in my mouth
When I crossed my heart
When I crossed my heart
When I crossed my heart, pretty darlin over you
Well, you may think the worlds black and white
And youre dirty or youre clean
You better watch out you dont slip
Through them spaces in between
Where the night gets sticky and the sky gets black
I grabbed you, baby, and you grabbed me back
And we crossed our hearts
We crossed our hearts
Yeah, I crossed my heart...
Little boys, little girls
They know their wrongs from their rights
Once you cross your heart
You aint ever supposed to lie
Well, life aint nothin but a cold hard ride
I aint leavin til Im satisfied
I cross my heart
Yeah, I cross my heart
Well, I cross my heart, pretty darlin over you
