British Conservative Government Provokes Punters
British conservative government rises to power
on band wagon promise to abolish university fees
now with stiff upper lip their punters are stiffed
betrayal is rabid 300 percent rise in university fees
a policy like giving new home owners a free front door
then smiling innocently as you steal their castle houses
bring down clowns as fraud squad removes government
real clowns are dedicated professionals aiming to please
putting in hundreds of hours of dedication to get act right

Siren Singing
You would not
let me write.
You do not
support it.
You do not
understand it.
You would steal
time with moods
childish tantrums
endless cups of coffee
cigarettes smoked
like obsolete
steam train.
You would
be my chain and ball
I Prometheus Bound
heart eaten out
day and night
by craven
of cowling despair
siren singing
plied pity song
to founder
lost souls
upon destruction rocks
counting skeletons
former adventurers.
Who journeyed
upon odyssey
culminating
upon these fed
isle wreck shores
rib caged despair
broken dreams?

Tears Shed Still Flood The Earth
men were described as beasts
before an apocalyptic flood and after
before legendary Biblical flood and after
men no longer strut across landscape like giants
men crush landscape all obstacles into dust particles
men raise up great monuments giant skyscrapers into skies
men dominate landscapes all available resources earth sea skies
but tears still ever flood the earth shed by staring millions

Ending up-front fees should make it far easier for all students to go to university as they will no longer have to pay up to /1,125 out of their loans at the start of each year. Student loans will also rise to meet average living costs.

If the British government is prepared to say that the Unionists will not have a veto over British government policy and that guns, vetoes and injustices will all be left outside the door, then there is no good reason why talks cannot take place in an appropriate atmosphere.

An inciting concert (or so was thought at the time)
I drive my yellow Bmw
with six cylinders roaring powerful
beneath a group of students
five pressed into the back
and three of us in the front
to listen to Koos Kombuis,
Johannes Kerkorrel, Bernoldus Niemand
and the Gereformeerde Blues Band
at the voëlvry tour.
The Afrikaans rock and roll concert
is banned at Stellenbosch
by the university
(probably by order of the government) ,
but another venue is found
where thousands of students turn up
at the Drie Gewels hotel
and it goes really jolly
and policemen with cameras
come to look
at who looks like communists
and whom they later
can crack down on.
Songs are sung
about government ministers
so and so
and we were told
who and what they really are
and we know
Johnny isn’t dead,
he’s just passed out
from all the drugs
and maybe in heaven
but probably
already in hell
and the maid Sara
makes green tea
for the man with the Bmw
that every now and then
embraces her
like a mother
and every thing goes well,
but for the policemen
who act like a group of clowns
trying to play spy
while criminals run loose
at other places
murdering, robbing
and stealing cars
and dealing out drugs to kids.

I believe in an America with a government of men devoted solely to the public interests — men of ability and dedication, free from conflict or corruption or other commitment — a responsible government that is efficient and economical, with a balanced budget over the years of the cycle, reducing its debt in prosperous times — a government willing to entrust the people with the facts that they have — not a businessman's government, with business in the saddle … not a labor government, not a farmer's government, not a government of one section of the country or another, but a government of, for and by the people.

Send In The Clowns
Isnt it rich? are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air,
Send in the clowns, send in the clowns,
Isnt it bliss? dont you approve?
One who keeps tearing around,
One who cant move,
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns,
Just when Id stopped opening doors,
Finally knowing the one that I wanted,
Was yours,
Making my entrance again with my,
Usual flair,
Sure of my lines,
No one is there,
Dont you love farce?
My fault I fear,
I thought thar youd want what I want,
Sorry my dear,
And where are the clowns?
Quick send in the clowns,
Dont bother, theyre here,
Isnt it rich? isnt it queer?
Losing my timing this late,
In my career,
And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns,
(? )
Send in the clowns. (x10),

Dictated Dialogue
It’s crazy time at university
first term final essays due
students are scurrying bees busy
checking references facts never knew.
Writing stereo-typical answers
making lecturers more brilliantly blue
these are research required formats
that which all rabid mind-clogs do.

Another clown
the clown with red nose
the clown with green ears
the clown with yellow cheeks
the clown with webbed feet
the children don’t like the clowns
all clowns
all the children are scared by all clowns
the child with orange hairs
the child with blue eyes
the child with pink smiles
the child with wide eyes
the clown don’t like the children
all children
all the clowns want to kill all children
the clown get back at home
He shouts: I hate the children
then he eats the soup of day
quietly smiling
the child get back at home
He shouts: I hate the clowns
then he eats the soup of day
quietly smiling
But the worst is forthcoming:
one child among one million
will become a clown
Me I am not a child
I am not a clown and
I do not like the soup
luckily
all sad stories have an end
and here I write a full stop
