Letter to Prof Wole Soyinka
to the stone that sharpens axe,
kudos.
to the stone that grinds pepper,
kudos.
to the bird that swallows snake,
kudos.
to the woman who swallows man,

to the hunter who returns
from exploit, when the day breaks,

Kudos
Don't you feel a mess,
When you don't get those kudos?
Kudos.
Those expected kudos.
Kudos.
And don't you feel a wreck,
When those kudos don't come through?
Kudos.
Those expected kudos.
Kudos.
Then you find a life,
Watching mice eating cheese.
Sitting in your kitchen nibbling rice and beans.
While looking out a window hopscotching over dreams.
And there's no kudos.
No kudos.
Have you ever 'tripped',
When you didn't get those kudos?
Kudos.
Those expected kudos.
Kudos.
Did you get upset,
In a mood with no kudos.
Kudos.
Those expected kudos.
Kudos.
And then you chased the mice,
With a broom you swung.
Knocking over lamps and feeling dumb.
And then the doorbell rings,
And a neighbor is there...
With noodles.
Meatballs and noodles.
Don't you feel a mess,
When you don't get those kudos?
Kudos.
Those expected kudos.
Kudos.
And don't you feel a wreck,
When those kudos don't come through?
Kudos.

Meatballs and noodles.
But no kudos.
Sitting in your kitchen nibbling rice and beans.
While looking out a window hopscotching over dreams.
And there's no kudos.
But now you've got some noodles.

Kudos Cuckoo
Even the acerbic neem becomes honey
When your doubled, tripled coos-symphony
On the margosa
Gets contrived a harp-harmonica
'Bitter turned into sweeter'
Does say the crow
Pecking up the neem fruits
Up the tree flies like an arrow
To incubate your eggs
'Better do it faster'
So you utter
Knowing the reason sweeter
You coo coo and cuckooo
Your coos much we ooh
'Clappers we the listeners'
Down you then find us
Hap hap happily flapping wings
Safely then out your babes
You coo coo cuckooo....Kudos, kudos

To HelenKeller
You lit the fire of Heaven
To gross over the wisdom of the gods
Holy wisdom and ain't holy dark
Your eyes.. whilst your heart visioned
You retrieved godliness to spark
Booming erstwhile darkness
In blind silence and silent sound
Back into its own unanswering depths
And Madam, you're the topnotch
The world with your deliverence and applicability
With your message of courage and help
Parading construed blindly in sound silence
Profoundly acclaiming 'kudos, kudos'

Kaumaram-5
Tiruttani-fifth of six special
abodes of Lord Muruga
Ichcha be desire and caprice and nomad
Who else than Thee can conquer 'Ichcha'
Ichcha be masqueraded as Valli
Masqueraded hunter Thee to espouse then
On valorous peace seated, a mystic myth
Tiruttani that allayed Thine heart causally
In pacific confinement blissful Thee
Sage Agastya to master birthed 'Tamil'
An ambrosial spread around the earth
Ah, Thanikachala, inebriated so many versifiers
Sing and praise and extole 'Arohara, Arohara'
Kudos, kudos...so too we 'Vel, Vel, Vetrivel'

I do think that, for instance, we've been very lucky to have theatrical careers and be associated with Shakespeare which sometimes gives you a kind of bogus kudos.

For some ungodly reason, I end up being naked in a lot of stuff. But there is a certain grace and kudos that come with taking your clothes off on the first day, a respect that is given by the rest of the cast.

Lucid are the lunatics
Bright are the autistics
Secure
Founded dreamless honesty
Serene a w'ld of grudgelessness
Where happiness overshadows pain
You observe they laugh at nothing

Do observe you frown at nothing!

Do
Everything he
Feels like doing, if he
Gets his

In on time
Just as his teacher instructs
Kudos goes to he who
Loves
Math
Now he does have the
Option to

Quietly
Read and do
Schoolwork
Today after lunch
Unless he doesn’t do
Very
Well on his math problem

Yet he
Zealously gets his schoolwork done.

Kudos, Dittos And The Indifference Of Dildos
She told me my green urine was disgustingly vulgar
And she found my mere mention of it to be distasteful
Forget about the fact that I made reference to it only
As a metaphor to describe the facts as they be
In that man can waste his time popping supplements
From Vitamin A tabs to caps of Zinc
And yet nothing is as healthy for the body
As what his mind ingest from a daily diet of God’s word….
This is why I don’t write for the kudos
But I am made stronger by the dittos I receive
When two or more among us come together and agree

Milk Chocolate
On my fingers, on my tongue-
Your taste a sweet and pleasing one.
I unwrap you greedily
And nibble on you speedily.
Milk chocolate, I can't resist-
in miniatures or in a kiss.
Three musketeers are worth the fee-
all for one and one for me.
In a pudding or a bar
I enjoy you in my home or car.
In drink, you warm my winter day
once my shovels been put away.
We all owe Milton Hershey thanks
For inventing chocolate bars.
Kudos goes for M &M’s
to his competitors from MARS.
Intoxicating like fine wine,
Your antioxidants are all mine.
I sneak away with you, my treasure,
an old fat man's one guilty pleasure.

Am I Alone?
Amongst the living,
the fluid,
the alive,
Am I alone?
Amongst the happiness,
the joy,
the sarrow,
the pain,
Am I alone?
When I share my heart with none,
but believe all the same.
When I don't feel anything but
the heat of another's body,
Am I alone?
When I lay in bed,
and the air is as empty as my hallow heart,
Am I alone?
When I've read a hundred books,
and written a million poems,
when I understand all of the mysteries,
and when I unravel the troubles of the world,
Am I alone?
When tears roll down my cheeks,
and hands wipe them away,
but there is a tear in my heart,
that no mere hand can mend,
Am I alone?
Will I forever and always be,
alone.

Tramp With Cramp
Loneliness within a horde of humans
Moving like wildebeest across the earth!
Hoping for a handout, not a sermon,
For money, not a cup of tea,
Nor food they watch me eat
Instead of drugs they think I'll buy later.
No alcohol upon my breath, yet still condemned
By the prejudice against every tramp.
Beggars can't be choosers.
Take pennies as well as pounds
And foreign coins given by smart alec sadists.
Brave the chill in my bones.
Autumn turns to Winter.
Extra socks! Long Johns under grimy trousers.
Wouldn't do to wear clean ones.
No sympathy, no kudos, no street cred!
Just looks of disdain, only more so...

Sonnet: Omnipotent Is God Alone
Kudos to Man, superb has been his brain;
His inquisitiveness has paid rewards;
Science- his research tool is boon, also bane;
To know the Almighty is in his cards.
The more the grey areas, man attempts to clear,
Newer vistas and frontiers get opened;
The 'High- Tech World' of modern Man is near;
Man's Hope in Science and Self appears strengthened.
Yet, Man can't Nature's fury contain still;
Nor dare to ev'r estrange himself from God;
The Soul's Spirit of today's man is ill;
But Science can't make man superior to Lord.
All hairs are numbered; even desert –sands!
The Universe abides by God's commands.

Sonnet: Poetic Limits
Can words depict the true beauty of things?
Can words describe the truth of every scene?
Can words expound the hearts of all earthlings?
Can words decode the joy of things unseen?
Can words bring out the beauty of music?
Can words suffice to explain mysteries?
Can words repaint the beauty of a ‘pic’?
Can words spell out the taste of foods/berries?
And yet, the poet slogs with words and sounds;
With mastery and skills, unique, unknown;
And takes the reader’s hearts to divine grounds,
Or earthly terrains akin to their own.
Kudos to Bards! Who pen and sing supreme,
To create things felt/seen or in a dream.

abodes of Lord Murugan
His wonderment ocean-king hurrays
Lapping Thine each victorious grain
Commendably circumambulating celestials
In Thine ambient prcincts lauding
O' Thou valour on demon-slaughter
Exult Thine herd 'Vel, vel, vetri vel'
In nectarean Naazhikinaru in silence
Thine abluted wary paroxysm solaced
Penancing on pithy PanchaLingas
Pleading Thee for incaved Valli
Blessed Brihaspathi portending omen
Beatified Panneer tree broadcasting kudos

Rabbit Hunting
Kudos to a failed hunting
The net was laid perfect
No chances for a rabbit to escape
The expertise of an experienced
Hunter and his flesh lust
I waited
And she ran into the trap
My favorite snow white rabbit
“Oh not again” I heard her uttering in dismay
And she wore the gestures of horror and disbelief
Smoke stained lips and teeth
Forming into an loathsome grin
I snorted “I want your flesh”
Caressing the barrel of my favorite gun
“Go eat your deer” spreading her eyes for
An escape she yelled back
“I am tired of vegetables”
Penetrating the gum gaps with toothpick
I replied her quite bored
“You had your share of my flesh…many times…”
I saw her eyes flowing helplessness
“I don’t care…I want I want to taste your tender flesh
And the warmth of your blood”
I aimed my gun at her
A moment’s silence
She leaped and disappeared
Into the large snake hole, I missed
Cussing violent and mad
Caused by an unexpected failure
I wrapped the net neat into its case
And returned home
I ate my deer
I was hungry
I slept snoring
I was tired from hunting and eating
Vegetable.

The Opening in the Sky to Heaven
in the eyes of the swallows
the sky winds its way into
a mysterious golden
- cool luminous opening
to where heaven is
on and on the excited swallows
would sing wishing one day
it would be able to explore
what is inside
on and on the swallows would sing
as they cruise the sky
delighting all earth's inhabitants

K.S.R. Dental College
The day I saw the campus first,
I fell in love with it;
The place looks neat and tidy kept;
The college seems quite fit!
I love the way the place is run,
And how the buses ply;
I love the way all things are done;
Children here do not cry!
I know my child will love this place;
She’ll make a doctor fine;
She’s sure to win this lovely race;
In limelight, she will shine!
I know I’ve found the place I sought;
I need not change my plan;
My child is in the dental slot!
Why should I worry, man?
Five years will fly off very fast,
Although it looks so long;
Let no one brood over the past;
Just sing a happy song.
Kudos to him whose fore-vision,
Had built this college great;
The student has all things within;
One need not reach the gate.
Oh, what a lovely dream come true!
A dentist earns a lot!
But one must toil, persevere too;
And use the wisdom got.
One’s college life is full of bliss;
Yet, one must slog somewhat;
May be, your home, awhile you miss;
‘Cheer up and learn! ’ so what?

Dementia
Age never bothered her
She never showed her age
She was a new age women
Never to mind her age.
Proudly she went to a plaza
Fond of shopping home away
But came out just eating pizza
It had made her day.
Body searched her purse
Could not find her key
Also did not find her car
Nothing to giggle and glee.
Wrinkles showed on her face
As she approached a PCR*
Was directed to the police station
To file an FIR**
She returned home with satisfaction
Informed her hubby with some reservation
Shocked, he stood with a mug of beer
' But honey, didn't I... dropp you there?
' did you dropp me? Oh God!
Oh Yes! I forgot; ' stunned as she was
Then where is our car? exclaimed she
beckoning him to the window for the testimony.
Rushing out, found the gate open
dazed, both now looked aged
car was nowhere to be seen
thought they, finally it has been stolen.
Soon they were surprised
and had a hearty laugh
they saw their own son
driving in, to park.
Age do takes its toll
As one tends to forget
Kudos to those
Who laugh at the malady, without any regret.
