WM Saleem Clan....Memories Special
The sun so bright, the feel of golden sands with me.
My ageing eyes, towering buildings sand dunes I see
I view the desert as memories slip into days gone by,
Feelings deeply stirred, of my ‘WM Saleems’ I heavily sigh.
The sandy grains murmur a beauty, all my family holds,
Smell the air of desert breath, precious thoughts unfold.
Runs through gently on the playground of a withering mind
Decades, distance between oceans seems naught, I find
Strength blossoms as beautiful as the radiant flowers
With beauty liberty dignity and grace with dawning hours
Days of childhood, fun laughter treasured, deep seated
Voices sweet masterly the divine words kindly repeated
Memories of parents aunties uncles cousins once more.
Keeps rushing back like the foamy waves to the sea shore,
A family, the purest diamonds that sparkle bright
Moving along life's journey with the wondrous light
Days with starry skies, with smashing sweetest smile
Garlanding with fragrance for a lavish life style.
WM Saleem family of season and reasons of all times
United we stand despite the knolls of the chimes.

Awakening
Ageing, I stand on the silken golden desert sand.
A deep breath I take as this vast wonderland
Trembles with turbulence, metals all around.
Caved in by greed and variable confusion found.
Recollecting memories stored with care, tenderly
In the back of a playground mind so preciously
Though grown in separate ways, grown not apart
A beautiful stunning awakening, stealing my heart
A 'chance' again our paths meet so unexpectedly
Childhood days shared carefree and so briefly
Oceans away hearts did not dim nor lose track
Emotions stirred and makes a gentle come back
A friendship blossoms, now so trusting strong.
With the sweetest fragrance of feelings born.
The towering strength you did so kindly lend.
Flowered serenity, hopes, cant quite comprehend.
The journey, oh so long, tiring almost at an end.
Exquisite, like no other, a treasure, the best of friends.
Distance, seas away we remain and may meet not
Hearts, minds now connected, and forget me not.
The curtain soon fall, leaving a stage, lost and bare
Remember 'dearest all' great to know, best of friends care!

Love Sonnet 169 I Have Seen Sadness On The Prestine Sand
I have seen sadness on the pristine sand,
In faded footprints, you have failed to make,
More so that sands were once huge rocks, so grand,
Before this fate, that only sands could take:
To become the dunes, were dwelt my sorrow,
In dire stillness that aggravates my loss,
The craved tenderness, which you did not show,
That spawned a desert, much too wide to cross;
Though minute are the grains that slip my grasp,
Like truths that seep through a mind grief ridden,
Vicious as though rose harboring a wasp,
Thereby, in sweetness lurks its sting, hidden;
......Yet, your footprints did not last till evening,
......As blown sand covered your tracks of leaving.

The Minds eye for M lady Allie
The beauty of the desert lands
Lies in the multi coloured sands
which vary with the light of day.
Only the nomad understands.
By night the dunes look black and grey
but alter when the moonbeams play
across the valleys and the peak.
Creating pictures which cannot stay.
The beauty that the nomads seek
is to the desert lands unique.
Invisible to western eyes
which view the barren sands as bleak.
The beauty of desert lies
in what the viewers mind supplies.

Memories of Summers Spent
For Faizil
I remember the sand dunes of Aniston
Eastwards on the south of the Western Cape coast
The blue skies hanging over
Illuminated by the burning sun
Within the sand dunes concealed
Lies the bones of shipwrecked sailors of yesteryear
Contrast of desert and ocean
Like two dimension woven in one
Dwarfed by the sands of time
I remember how we raced to the top of the dunes
Breathless without thought
Just the absolute carefree bliss of being children
The race down was a running and a tumbling
Our summers spent camping at Arniston
When finally at the bottom, we would lay exhausted
Panting, catching our breath

Questions to Desert Wind…
You wonder,
Did the desert wind already forgotten to past?
No dearest, it has always blown so gently…
Crafting this dry open desert,
Shifting mystical sand dunes,
Bringing precious droplets to a thirsty bird,
To comfort her broken heart!
You further asked,
O desert wind…
Why erased my written message in the sand?
So let it be a permanent secret,
Cause I have already engraved it in my heart.

Remember me! ! !
Remember me every year when the summer comes again
When the sun shines above golden and bright
Like your heart
I know how you feel
Remember me!
Did you remember those summer days?
You will Smile and your eyes that i adore
Those green eyes will glow more bright then the sun above
And the angels will fly above while you smile
Those green eyes like those green days
How i loved those eyes take care of those eyes and
Remember me!
Remember me every year when the winter days come again
And when its a lovely raining day
While the drops of rain runs trough your hair
To slip and make love on your soft skin
Remember me!
Remember me every time that you meet
Those poor kids on the corner of the streets
Or an old man and alone people on the road
I know what you will feel
Those eyes will tear
Remember me!

On The Dunes
Drive along the sea
Far from the citys twitch and smoke
To a misty beach
Thats where my life became a joke
On the dunes
On the dunes
(became a joke on the dunes)
Where rents are high
And seabirds cry
On the dunes
As you spoke you must have known
It was a kind of homicide
I stood and watched my happiness
Drift outwards with the tide
On the dunes
On the dunes
(homicide on the dunes)
It wasnt fair
Its brutal there
On the dunes
Pretty boats
Sweeping along the shore
In the faltering light
Pretty women
With their lovers by their side
Its like an awful dream
I have most every night
In the summer all the swells
Join in the search for sun and sand
For me its just a joyless place
Where this loneliness began
On the dunes
On the dunes
(loneliness on the dunes)
Im pretty tough
But the wind is rough
On the dunes

Let it be...
The feet of heart
Heavily laden
With agony and ecstasy
Desperately clutch at
The shifting
Vagrant sand dunes
Quite a few moments of death
Drop as tears and
Mingle with the wandering sands
To sprout as a desert flower or two
Elsewhere
Is that a mourning?
Is that a celebration?
Let it be...

As Long As I Can
I wear a smile some days
to hide what I feel inside,
especially when I remember
of the days when friends were few.
Remembering all the loneliness
I used to bottle up inside
and how at the end of the days
when I would slip away to my room
and sit down and cry.
Though those days are gone now,
at times their memories
still come to trouble me
and I often wonder
if they will ever let me be.
Today is so different
with my friends around the world.
They make me feel
I am someone very special,
but I keep asking myself why.
The answer is lost to me
like the desert barren of rain.
I know not why it has happened,
nor how long will it last.
Only that I will enjoy it
for as long as I can.

Melting Melodious Moments Of The Past
MELTING MELODIOUS MOMENTS OF THE PAST
The moon so high and on the deck with me.
Through my eyes the path upon the sea.
I viewed the ocean into the days gone by,
Feelings deeply stirred, I do heavily sigh.
The salty murmur, beauty, and all that it holds,
Smell the air of sea breath, where romance unfolds.
A carriage, a horse, a dream, a vision,
Beautiful majestic looking buildings now an illusion.
On Diamond rings and maids, a blessing from above
Many a mansion stood their true loves,
Beauty and liberty, a mass of graves,
The days run by, memories don’t decay…
Sighs and melting grief's, with flowing tears,
As I leave to enter another…sad and polluted sphere,
Are stilled by yonder harbor lights
My aching eyes turn away from this sight.
A doubtful horizon nods from side to side.
The grains of titillating dust rise high,
As I cast my eyes up to the sky.
In endless mirth what’s done in earth,
Deep rooted in pain, I sail back to the time of my birth.
What we dread we do silently face,
Alas! farewell, farewell, with dignity and grace.

How spiny the cactus raised itself
how spiny the cactus raised itself
into the desert
how red the sand
burnt under the mid-day sun
how scorched the scorpion moved
across the red sand
and in that silence
a sudden whirlwind blows
a red, red cloud of sand
from the dunes rises
how spiny the cactus raised itself
into the tempest:
and yet
and yet
the tempest was subdued and fell
as happened long ago and now
and still
and spiny the cactus raises itself
into the desert
and the red sand
burns under the mid-day sun

Dunes Are Made Of SanD
Cul the zeros out of my head, so i may round by the sound, the square i love to wear - She is my dress, my shadow grows on both, what was lost next to 2, by my sides - Never do i fear alone, I am held by her grip, sometimes she is more than cold, but she never will let me slip - Sometimes i stand on the dunes, the sand tells me of what passed by time - my prints are diplayed, one to a row, although never was there a path which led me to wonder astray - By my hand, in own i was grown, i do the deed which cause me harm, without a bell to ring the cause for the alarm, i stitch close what was sown - Tears which streams into rivers, do so with one flow - As Dunes Are Made of SanD

Swimming in Sand
DRY
Noon's Saharan heat
sears the yellow fringe-toed sand skink.
Stinging simoom beats
sword dunes swept in serried bands.
Lizard's plunge is fleet,
swims beneath saltating tanned brink.
Sinusoidal whip's
subterranean dip.
WET
Should one chance to meet
supersaturated sand sinks,
Glide their surface sheets,
spread the body's weight, expand.
Stay unsettled feet,
float the span to countermand links.
Stirred suspensions grip,
skimmed solutions slip.

My brother's bday....and he is gone!
Firoze ibrahim...born 20th Feb 1948....died 13th August 2009
Feelings stirred, my brothers bday dawns, an emptiness felt,
My ageing eyes overflows with a pain that cannot be dealt.
Moving along life's journey, precious thoughts do unfold
Memories of the wondrous days shared, in our hearts we hold.
Days filled with fun, laughter the sweet fragrance of love.
United we walked through trials, a blessings from above.
Those Phone calls, greetings, meetings are all now.. so gone
Sunrise, sunset and non-stop each day do effortlessly dawn.
Clinging to the sweetness and his gentle caring words,
Lessens the pain as his voice with kindness still heard.
Looking back down memory lane I must say I can’t help find,
An unexplainable sad loss in the background of my mind....

Tides of Joy
Blue waves crash into the golden sands
Wonder and awe amidst the great sea
Waters with foamy waves
Waters with dancing sunlight
A sense that someday love will rule
Butterflies amidst the philodendrons
Old stonewalls with vines
I never tire of the ocean
Shoreline of life
My soul fills with praise
You are a flower of the sea
The salty air blows thru your hair
Your eyes bright with the sky
Eternal mystery fills the day
Feelings of ancient ships
Sand castle art
Sea gulls
We are lovers
We are born to be together
We feel the sea like a preacher
Joined by love in wondrous awakening
The tide fills with joy

Tea For One
(page/plant)
How come twenty four hours, baby sometimes seem to slip into days?
Oh twenty-four hours, baby sometimes seem to slip into days
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way
Sittin, lookin at the clock, time moves so slow
Ive been watchin for the hands to move
Until I just cant look no more
How come twenty four hours, baby sometimes seems to slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way.
To sing a song for you, I recall you used to say
Oh baby this ones for we two, which in the end is you anyway
How come twenty four hours, baby sometimes slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way.
There was a time that I stood tall, in the eyes of other men
But by my own choice I left you woman, and now I cant get back again
How come twenty-four hours, sometimes slip into days?
A minute seems like a lifetime, baby when I feel this way
A minute seems like a lifetime
When I feel this way...i feel this way

Dancer
Dancer of the mild air,
Is he learning a new song?
Or is wisdom the very utterance
Bellowing from his lips,
The mighty sands of the sparkling desert
Are characteristic of pain and all rigidity,
The mighty sands of sorrow fade away
From being dunes to small places.
Like a sandy region the dance is staged,
Having a turn of festivities.

Grain....
when life one dark night says
that it is tasteless and so bland like the air
the leaves of the mahogany trees hear it
and the following morning confide it with the
sea breeze
who tells it all to the sands who spread same story
to the waves of the shores
who deliver it to every desert in the sand
who keep all these in the heart of their
sacred solitude
and the wisdom stops in there
every dry sand of the desert
thrives upon this story
and sleeps so soundly.
'it is a fact and we are not surprised' the grain
of sand so proudly tell the others.
