Walking Home From Shul
WALKING HOME FROM SHUL
Walking home from Shul
After early morning davvening
I am calm as peace
Quiet as happiness-
I hear my soul say:
Blessed are you in old age
That can walk home from Shul
So surely and so happily.

After Shul This Morning
AFTER SHUL THIS MORNING
After Shul this morning
I feel a poem I cannot write-
The Beauty of the world
Deep deep in me-
The colors the light all around-
I thank God for all the blessings given me in my old age-
I walk home happily.

Walking To Shul
Walking to Shul
Walking to Shul-
'Who are we?
What are we?
Where do we come from?
Where are we going to? '
The morning light does not say-
No one knows the answers to the deepest questions-
We live in a journey of guess and wonder-
We live and die
And who we really are
Only God knows.

On The Way Home From Shul Again/ Cold As Ice
ON THE WAY HOME FROM SHUL AGAIN/COLD AS ICE
On the way home from Shul again,
Cold as ice
Even the Beauty of the white-light morning sun
Cannot completely warm,
I look up at the all - blue- light sky
And dream the world
A poem.

I Do Not Die In My Aloneness
I DO NOT DIE IN MY ALONENESS
I do not die in my aloneness-
I live in it
I find solace in its silence-
I cry out to the sky with it
I feel Beauty in its fear
I love where it takes me in the long walking distance-
Alone alone alone
I see the morning light
And all the world is with me
As I sing my own song happily
On my way home from shul again.

What Dream Does The Morning Sky Say To Me?
WHAT DREAM DOES THE MORNING SKY SAY TO ME?
What dream does the morning sky say to me?
A cold and white dream?
A fast moving white- clouded dream?
What dream does morning sky say to me?
An old man walking home from shul,
Happy and at peace
Looking forward to breakfast.

I Don't Know Why This Sadness Is Me
I don’t know why this sadness is me,
And why depression has suddenly come -
It seems as if I am empty alone
And nowhere and nothing knows
Just what I was.
I am deeper into what I do not want to be
Then I know how to go out of-
Oh these games of despair
How often have I played them in the past-
Let me walk outside
Let me feel the light
Let me read an interesting page
Let the time for Shul come and let me get to my Siddur again-
Anything anything
But the down of this now
Which by my writing is already somewhat less,
And only disturbance
Deep disturbance
Anxiety -
Why?
I will get out of this soon I tell myself-
When I get up from this chair
And do something, anything else
The door, the light, the light the outside
A walk up the hill to Shul will save me.

The Morning Moon Gives Its Last Light
THE MORNING MOON GIVES ITS LAST LIGHT
The morning moon gives its last light
The sky is harshly grey and white-
I walk home from shul
Brisk wind and dark leaves,
All Freshness around me
Exultantly free.

Elisheva And Gavriel
On Lag Ba'Omer 5766,
On 16th May 2006,
Under the Chupah in the St John's Wood Shul,
You begin your Nuptials before one and all.
Blessed by HE who reigns Supreme,
Casting HIS eyes on this happy scene,
Your Wedding in this Respected Shul,
Viewed by a Congregation very full.
Thoughts of the future are in your Minds,
I hope for you both they are kind,
Full of Expectations and of Fears,
Full of Happiness and Emotional Tears.
Elisheva and Gavriel you both are
Children of Rabbanim, respected from afar.
May your future life together be blessed,
With Health, Harmony and Happiness.
When in the future you do recall,
The joy and happiness experienced by all,
As I remember my own wedding here,
Standing where you stand, with the Aron near.

The Poem I Wrote/ As I Walked To Shul At Night
THE POEM I WROTE/ AS I WALKED TO SHUL AT NIGHT
The Poem I wrote
As I walked to Shul at night
Was the prayer that God
would help us survive and thrive
in this dark and difficult region
where Death and Destruction
are Demanded Daily
by those who would rather kill us
than love their own lives.

I Lost The Poem I Wrote In My Mind
I LOST THE POEM I WROTE IN MIND
I lost the poem I wrote in my mind
When walking to Shul this morning-
I can only try to recall its thoughts;
‘Walk too fast and the mind cannot hear itself
Walk slowly and listen to the poem inside yourself.
The road ahead the trees the sky
Has a beauty too great for you to write
Thank God for your sight.”
The best lines are forever gone-
A poem to replace a poem
Is not as good as the original-
I wish I had the words for all the beauty God gives me in my life
How wonderful it is to be alive- sometimes
And to be able to write poems – even if somewhat poorly.

Anthony, Bess, Clark, Diana, Edward, And Florence Are Returning Home
Returning Home
Those kids have nothing to worry about
The night is over
The castle has imploded into the sea
And the sun shines high in the sky
On this glorious countryside morning
They're going home at last
There's finally peace at last
Peace for Anthony
Peace for Bess
Peace for Clark
Peace for Diana
Peace for Edward
Peace for Florence
Peace for all their families now
The darkness is now gone for good
They're going home safely
They're walking home safely

Morning Bell
Morning bell
Morning bell
Not another encounter
Release me
Release me
You can keep the furniture
A bump on the head
Howling(?) down the chimney
Release me
Release me
Please........
Release me
Release me
Where'd you park the car?
Where'd you park the car?
Clothes are all ?? with the furniture
Now I might as well
I might as well
Sleepy jack the fire drill
Run around around around around around....
Cut the kids in half (x3)
The lights are on but nobody's home
Everybody wants to be a
The lights are on but nobody's home
Nobody wants to be a slave
Walking walking walking walking.......
The lights are on but nobody's home
Everybody wants to be a
Everyone wants to be a friend
Nobody wants to be a slave
Walking walking walking walking...

Show Me The Meaning Of Home
Home is your paradise
Home is your sanctuary
Show me the meaning of home
A home is the person residency
And in your home you can rest in peace
Because you won't find any violence inside of your home
Also at home during the Summer months the birds will at your porch
And you will be able to hear them singing early in the morning
But the good thing about Summer is that the days are longer

Our Rabbi ~ Dayan Ivan Binstock
The Preacher stands now in the Shul,
Before the Aron Kodesh now,
To deliver his Sermon to all
The Congregants there ~ attentive too.
Each Shabbat Morn and Yom Tov too,
He speaks Words of Wisdom, Parables two,
Mystic Insights, Worldly News,
Expressing to all, his own views.
Dayan Ivan Binstock is his name,
Who in London is a man of fame,
His Learning and Erudition too,
Delivered through his Sermons to me and you.
Fortunate are we to have him here,
In the St. John’s Wood Shul, in London town,
May he continue onwards, for many a year,
Bringing Glory to The Almighty’s Crown.
I wait each week to hear his words,
Interested in what he has to say,
Aware of his predecessors who were here,
Also worldly in their own special way.

There Is A Poem For Me Somewhere This Morning
THERE IS A POEM FOR ME SOMEWHERE THIS MORNING
There is a poem for me somewhere this morning
I will find it somehow
Perhaps it is in the memory of my father
Whose Yahrtzeit is today
Twenty- two years.
Perhaps it is as it is often
In the morning light
When I first walk outside to Shul
Perhaps it is in the deep need for a poem
For my own justification
Perhaps it is in my daughter’s search
For poems of inspiration
Perhaps it is in many things mixed together
Most of which I have not yet
And may never bring to mind
There is a poem for me somewhere this morning
I am writing it now
It is not beautiful
And not the best
And maybe even not much of a poem
There is a poem for me somewhere this morning
And I am not alone.

How light
How wonderful it is to walk in the morning
To feel alive.
I will pray soon

My Worlds
In the world of school,
I am quiet,
Calm, cool,
On the watch of everything and
Everyone,
In the world at home,
I am myself,
The soul within me,
I am at peace,
For at home I can be,
Me,
At school I must be,
Who they want to form me,
Like the shadow of shame,
For I am not how they describe,
I do not hide the pain,
Nor do I fake happiness,
I let what emotion I feel come out,
For at home I am what I want to be,
At school I am what I am.

Can't Walk You Home
You're a rich girl we all know
daddy runs an airline,
mummy's eye is on the dough
and the butlers' on the bread-line
You're so bright you glide through school
brains run in the family
You've been taught the "how do you do"
and all your men are manly
I'm just a boy, not what you're used to
That is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why (Why) I can't walk you home
I don't want to run you down
I don't mind the money
but last time when you asked me round
you said I was funny
Pulling strings and pony tails
just to get to know me
The only time you'll ever fail
is when you try to own me
I'm not a toy, I'm no use to you
That is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why (Why) I can't walk you home
[Mike Solo]
I'm just a boy not what you're used to
That is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why I can't walk you home
that is why (Why) I can't walk you home

Walking My Baby Back Home
Gee its great after staying out late
Walking my baby back home
Arm in arm, over meadow and farm
Walking my baby back home
We go on harmonizing a song
Or shes reciting a poem
Owls fly by and they give me the eye
Walking my baby back home
We stop for awhile
She gives me a smile
And cuddles her cheek to my chest
We start to pet and thats when I get
Her powder all over my vest
After I kind of straighten my tie
She has to borrow my comb
Its one kiss then we continue again
Walking my baby back home
