Sitting In The Palmtree
See me sitting in the palmtree
Looking down at people passing by
Sitting here no-one can harm me
They just stare at me and wonder why
No need to bother, Im gonna stay up here
Whatever happens, I wont let no-one near
Until you tell me, jeanie jeanie on my mind, wont you please
You really love me, jeanie jeanie youre so fine, yes you are now
And in the evening, when the sun goes down
Ill be the bluest of men in this town
cause I love you, jeanie jeanie on my mind
See me sitting in the palmtree
Waiting for those little words from you
People laugh and point their fingers
Like I was a monkey at the zoo
But I will stay here, among my coconuts
So you will know dear, youre everything Ive got
Now wont you tell me, jeanie jeanie on my mind
Winds blow, stars glow, I see a light in a window
Dark trees, soft breeze, carry my message to her please
See me sitting in the palmtree
Feeling angry at the silly crowd
No-one else but you can calm me
You should know by now Im far too proud
I need to show you, Ive got my feelings too
You shouldnt treat me like you always do
So wont you tell me, jeanie jeanie on my mind, wont you please
You really love me, jeanie jeanie youre so fine, yes you are now
And in the evening, when the sun goes down
Ill be the bluest of men in this town
cause I love you, jeanie jeanie on my mind
Jeanie jeanie youre so fine
Jeanie jeanie on my mind
Jeanie jeanie youre so fine
Jeanie jeanie on my mind
Jeanie jeanie youre so fine

Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair
1 I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair,
2 Borne, like a vapor, on the summer air;
3 I see her tripping where the bright streams play,
4 Happy as the daisies that dance on her way.
5 Many were the wild notes her merry voice would pour.
6 Many were the blithe birds that warbled them o'er:
7 Oh! I dream of Jeanie with the light brown hair,
8 Floating, like a vapor, on the soft summer air.
9 I long for Jeanie with the daydawn smile,
10 Radiant in gladness, warm with winning guile;
11 I hear her melodies, like joys gone by,
12 Sighing round my heart o'er the fond hopes that die: --
13 Sighing like the night wind and sobbing like the rain, --
14 Wailing for the lost one that comes not again:
15 Oh! I long for Jeanie, and my heart bows low,
16 Never more to find her where the bright waters flow.
17 I sigh for Jeanie, but her light form strayed
18 Far from the fond hearts round her native glade;
19 Her smiles have vanished and her sweet songs flown,
20 Flitting like the dreams that have cheered us and gone.
21 Now the nodding wild flowers may wither on the shore
22 While her gentle fingers will cull them no more:
23 Oh! I sigh for Jeanie with the light brown hair,
24 Floating, like a vapor, on the soft summer air.

From the Rude Bustling Camp
From the rude bustling camp, to the calm rural plain,
I'm come, my dear Jeanie, to bless thee again;
Still burning for honour our warriors may roam,
But the laurel I wish'd for I've won it at home:
All the glories of conquest no joy could impart,
When far from the kind little girl of my heart
Now, safely return'd, I will leave thee no more
But love my dear Jeannie till life's latest hour.
The sweets of retirement how pleasing to me!
Possessing all worth, my dear Jeanie, in thee !
Our flocks early bleating will make us to joy,
And our raptures exceed the warm tints in the sky;
In sweet rural pastimes our days still will glide,
Till Time, looking back, will admire at* his speed;
Still blooming in virtue, though youth them be o'er,
I'll love my dear Jeanie till life's latest hour.

Bonie Jean: A Ballad
To its ain tune.
There was a lass, and she was fair,
At kirk or market to be seen;
When a’ our fairest maids were met,
The fairest maid was bonie Jean.
And aye she wrought her mammie’s wark,
And aye she sang sae merrilie;
The blythest bird upon the bush
Had ne’er a lighter heart than she.
But hawks will rob the tender joys
That bless the little lintwhite’s nest;
And frost will blight the fairest flowers,
And love will break the soundest rest.
Young Robie was the brawest lad,
The flower and pride of a’ the glen;
And he had owsen, sheep, and kye,
And wanton naigies nine or ten.
He gaed wi’ Jeanie to the tryste,
He danc’d wi’ Jeanie on the down;
And, lang ere witless Jeanie wist,
Her heart was tint, her peace was stown!
As in the bosom of the stream,
The moon-beam dwells at dewy e’en;
So trembling, pure, was tender love
Within the breast of bonie Jean.
And now she works her mammie’s wark,
And aye she sighs wi’ care and pain;
Yet wist na what her ail might be,
Or what wad make her weel again.
But did na Jeanie’s heart loup light,
And didna joy blink in her e’e,
As Robie tauld a tale o’ love
Ae e’ening on the lily lea?
The sun was sinking in the west,
The birds sang sweet in ilka grove;
His cheek to hers he fondly laid,
And whisper’d thus his tale o’ love:
“O Jeanie fair, I lo’e thee dear;
O canst thou think to fancy me,
Or wilt thou leave thy mammie’s cot,
And learn to tent the farms wi’ me?
“At barn or byre thou shalt na drudge,
Or naething else to trouble thee;
But stray amang the heather-bells,
And tent the waving corn wi’ me.”
Now what could artless Jeanie do?
She had nae will to say him na:
At length she blush’d a sweet consent,
And love was aye between them twa.

On Broken Wings
Little Jeanie Cried, she believed in all his lies
so much for being good, oh.
Johnny did not rest he did what he thought was best,
he did the best he could.
Don't try to see the world in different ways
Those moments and all those days.
Don't let them faint away.
On Broken Wings
I guess that's how you'll have to fly
two broken hearts
across the sky
Now he's feeling bad
his heart is cold it's o so sad
somehow he did her wrong, yeaheah
Little Jeanie's heart
is melting fast ow so fast.
Now she feels so strong
Don't try to see the world in different ways
Those moments and all those days
Don't let them faint away.
On Broken Wings
I guess that's how you'll have to fly
two broken hearts
across the sky.
Don't try to see the world in different ways
Those moments and all those days
Don't let them faint away.

Eyes
Its funny how you can see everything through someones eyes
how much they hurt
how much each moment is slowly killing them
its funny how eyes show when someone is dying inside
before the breath their last breath
you'll know, its all in the eyes
Whos are these eyes im looking into?
Im looking at a mirror, they are mine

Flippie comes and lies with me
Flippie comes and lies with me
and she wants to know,
why you are staying away
for so long
and her dog eyes
watches me.
Kyla swings her big tail
and is very glad to see me,
but goes away to wait for you
for she hopes
to see you before the night.
Jeanie lays at the gate
and watches the street into the dark,
to see if you come
and she moans
when I call her to come in.
Slowly the day’s pass
while we wait on you
and I wonder if they
are treating you well
and the tea is nice,
but I drink it alone
and I know well
that our time on this earth
is just borrowed.

Come, Let Me Take Thee to My Breast
Come, let me take thee to my breast,
And pledge we ne'er shall sunder;
And I shall spurn as vilest dust
The world's wealth and grandeur:
And do I hear my Jeanie own
That equal transports move her?
I ask for dearest life alone,
That I may live to love her.
Thus, in my arms, wi' a' her charms,
I clasp my countless treasure;
I'll seek nae mair o' Heav'n to share,
Tha sic a moment's pleasure:
And by thy e'en sae bonie blue,
I swear I'm thine for ever!
And on thy lips I seal my vow,
And break it shall I never.

At magnolia dale
We walked laughing over the grass
while the dogs were running loose
and Kyla was swimming in the cool water.
On the riverbank Tinkie
sniffed on a few white flowers
and Jeanie walked from tree to tree
while Sasja barked at everybody around her
and rather silly followed Kyla splashing into the water
where like a lady Flippie paced off her steps.
Only Gator had to be kept on a leash
as he was like always out of control
and nobody could teach him any manners.

Borderline
Midnight in the big city
At the bar drinking all on my own
Just thinking about that girl and me
How somethings going wrong
Mister, tell me, whats my saving grace?
The back room boys
Were all telling me
Im a borderline case
Back on the borderline one more time
Seven beers and still sober
Its time to change to something stronger
I cannot take this scene no longer
She could have told me its all over
Back in my home town
The old place is still the same
But time can cast a spell over something
You cant go back again
Back on the borderline one more time
Mister, fill me another
Till I go crazy and it turn my mind around
Just pass that bottle one more time
And slowly drink it down
Jeanie can I tell you?
The shame of my disgrace
Its just love or rejection
For this borderline case
Back on the borderline one more time
Im on my bended knees crawling
Im begging you darling

Hangin Round
Harry was a rich young man
Who would become a priest
He dug up his dear father
Who was recently deceased
He did it with tarot cards
And a mystically attuned mind
And shortly there
And after he did find
Jeanie was a spoiled young brat
She thought she knew it all
She smoked mentholated cigarettes
And she had sex in the hall
But she was not my kind
Or even of my sigh
The kind of animal
That I would be about
Woh-woh-woh, you keep hangin round me
And Im not so glad you found me
Youre still doing things that I gave up years ago
Oh-woh-woh-woh, you keep hangin round me
And Im not so glad you found me
Youre still doing things that I gave up years ago
All right now
Ah-huh-huh
Kathy was a bit surreal
She painted all her toes
And on her face she wore dentures
Clamped tightly to her nose
And when she finally spoke
Her twang her glasses broke
And no one else could smoke
While she was in the room
Hark the herald angels sang
And reached out for a phone
And plucking it with a knife in hand
Dialed long distance home
But it was all too much
Sprinkling angel dust
To at and t
Who didnt wish you well
Oh, but you keep hangin round me
And Im not so glad you found me
Youre still doing things that I gave up years ago
Ho-ho-ho-ho, you keep hangin round me
And Im not so glad you found me
Youre still doing things that I gave up years ago
Hangin round
Hangin round, thats all youre doing baby
Hangin round
Hangin round, ooohhh
Hangin round
Hangin round
Hangin round
Hangin round

Heinrich
You and Werner play with little plastic men
and dinky toy cars, sometimes its war,
at other times you are heroes
who want to save the whole wide world,
or its karate on the computer,
where you have got to face each other
and no one spares the other,
when anyone looses there are tears flowing.
Later you lie stretched out on your bed
and at dusk
I cover you with a duvet
and if you had played outside
maybe had thrown a tennis ball to Jeanie
or had built paths and small dams
in the red-brown dust
I scrub your feet at nightfall in the bath
and then later you become a young man
who tries to catch the eyes of girls,
plays rugby at Craven week
fancying yourself rather too much.
My child, now that you are not mine anymore,
now that you have lost your innocence
and have to stand on your own feet,
I sometimes wonder
what is happening in your world?

Song
O whistle, and I'll come to ye, my lad,
O whistle, and I'll come to ye, my lad;
Tho' father, and mother, and a' should gae mad,
Thy Jeanie will venture wi'ye, my lad.
But warily tent, when ye come to court me,
And come nae unless the back-yett be a-jee;
Syne up the back-style and let naebody see,
And come as ye were na comin to me--
And come as ye were na comin to me--
O whistle &c.
At kirk, or at market whene'er ye meet me,
Gang by me as tho' that ye car'd nae a flie;
But steal me a blink o' your bonie black e'e,
Yet look as ye were na looking at me--
Yet look as ye were na looking at me.--
O whistle &c.
Ay vow and protest that ye care na for me,
And whyles ye may lightly my beauty a wee;
But court nae anither, tho' jokin ye be,
For fear that she wyle your fancy frae me--
For fear that she wyle your fancy frae me--

Is She Really Going Out With Him?
Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street
From my window Im staring while my coffee grows cold
Look over there! (where? )
Theres a lady that I used to know
Shes married now, or engaged, or something, so I am told
Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
cause if my eyes dont deceive me,
Theres something going wrong around here
Tonights the night when I go to all the parties down my street.
I wash my hair and I kid myself I look real smooth
Look over there! (where? )
Here comes jeanie with her new boyfriend
They say that looks dont count for much
If so, there goes your proof
Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
cause if my eyes dont deceive me,
Theres something going wrong around here
But if looks could kill
Theres a man there whos more down as dead.
Cause Ive had my fill
Listen you, take your hands off her head
I get so mean around this scene
Is she really going out with him?
Is she really gonna take him home tonight?
Is she really going out with him?
cause if my eyes dont deceive me
Theres something going wrong around here

Sing A Song Of Stephen Foster's
Sing a song of Stephen Foster's a song from long ago
Sing 'Jeanie with the light brown hair' or even 'Old black Joe'
Or sing my 'Old Kentucky home' for that would please me so
Or 'old folks at home' or 'Oh Susanna' to the strains of the banjo.
I hate to hurt your feelings sir but to you I must say no
For I've never heard of this Foster and his songs I do not know
It's the first that I've heard tell of him, never heard of him before
Is he some old ballad monger dead one hundred years or more? .
So you've never heard of Stephen Foster then it only goes to show
That you are not a true folk singer when his songs you do not know
He was America's greatest song writer and his is an undying fame
And I find it hard to believe that you've not heard of his name.
So you can't sing a song of Stephen Foster's, then I'll go elsewhere for beer
For to hear one of his oft sung songs the reason I come here
The drinks are dearer here tonight just to cover your fee
And you can't even sing a Stephen Foster song for me.

I Wont Mind
I dont mind
If you steal my last dime
Just leave me anytime
And Ill get, get along fine
I dont really know why
But I know Ill get by
If I dont Ill die tryin
If it rains again
Im gonna fly to the sun
cause nothing gets done
Just sitting, sitting around
Look at the way its been
Just waitin and wonderin
Ive just got to keep trying
Looking for gold in the sky
Gets kinda rough
Maybe Im to blame
cause I didint look hard enough
But I still get the feeling
That it shouldnt be so tough
So I wont mind, i, I wont mind
I wont mind, i, I wont mind
So I wont mind
I, no, I wont mind
I wont mind, i, said I wont mind

Fine As Fine Can Be
Youre as soft as the rose
Youre as sweet as the honey
Youre as warm as the bright morning sun
Youre as cool as the breeze on the last days of april
Youre as fine as fine can be
Youre like time is to space
Youre like faith is to trustin
Youre like blue is to feelin unkind
Youre like joy is for love,
Youre like dreams are for chasin
Youre as fine as fine can be
And when I am gone my thoughts are all with you
Youre my little angel you see
Youre as bright as the moon
Youre as light as a feather
Youre as fine as fine can be
Like the rain is for the crops
Youre like food for my thoughts
Youre like true is for knowin whats not
Youre like leaves are for trees

If Youre Still In Love With Me
First you say youre in love with me and that it lasts eternally.
Then I find that you change your mind, but one and one will not make three.
Well, Im glad to say the distance is one thing I never mind.
But every thought of leaving is the last thing on my mind.
So if youre still in love with me then why wont you just set me free?
Cause if Im not in love with you then theres no chance to see this through
Again.
Everything that Ive promised you,
I tried and tried to make it all come true.
But if I break your heart again, well this time itll never mend.
When I beg for freedom, you only chain me down.
With everyday that passes now, the answer cant be found.
So if youre still in love with me then why wont you just set me free?
Cause if Im not in love with you then theres no chance to see this through
Again.
All across the nation.
People in frustration.
Theres those who need someone to stay.
And those whove got to run away.
So if youre still in love with me then why wont you just set me free?
Cause if Im not in love with you then theres no chance to see this through
Again.
So if youre still in love with me then why wont you just set me free?
Cause if Im not in love with you then theres no chance to see this through
Again.
