Subdued Laughter

The chemistry of hate
changes in a thorn’s shade.
I start digging out the past
for a blind sun,
for a qualified rejection.

He was stranded in a death-row:
the civilians were killed.
Was a meditating Buddha with
a bomb, doing his routine job
of annihilation?

I am surprised of a god walking
in the graveyard to find his own
son lying asunder six feet deep
below the burden of kisses from
the vanishing mankind.

Looking Back

There you go running this way and that,
You mean well but you haven't thought it through,
You sweat the big tears and cry yourself to sleep when alone,
You forgot that time heels nothing but the heart can heal everything,

You remember enough to feel guilty, but not enough to know why,
Look back man, look back to find and forgive yourself,
I should have waited, I know, but I forgave you anyway,
Please find yourself so that you can forgive me,
Look back man, look back so that we can move forward,
You judged yourself and then forgot why, so now you judge me too,

I know the depth of your heart,
I know the strength of your courage,
You have no fear except of your past,
You have no limits,
You have no need of your regrets,
You think that your love is limitless, but it's stuck in the past,
Keep digging deep within and you will find pain,
Keep digging deep within and you will find Truth,
Keep digging deep within and eventually you will find real love,
Keep digging deep within and you will find peace,
Keep digging deep within and you will find me.

Lyin' To Yourself

You tell me lies that you believe
You say its the real thing
I can see how you've deceived
I know what's happening
And seeing is believing 'til you find out that you're blind
You're Lying To Yourself (Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself (Lying To Yourself)
Wake up, shake up, turn around
I'll give it to you straight
It's been too long, it's past a joke
Something I can't take
The cost is due, now tell me money ain't the means [to me it sounds like
"meaning"]
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
Lying To Yourself again, you're Lying to Yourself again
Lying To Yourself again, you're Lying To Yourself again
Lying in the morning
I'll kiss you goodbye
You won't regret a part of this
And neither will I
Revealing hearts with a common need play their hands
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)
You're Lying To Yourself
(Lying To Yourself)

Thorn and Hate

there is heart springs thorn
there is growth of hate
you plant the thorn
you sow seed of hate
will you cultivate the thorn
or fertilize that hate
I don't want to harvest thorn
you cause me to hate
my heart's never gone from thorn
you always add that hate

Thank God For The Bomb

Like moths to a flame
Is man never gonna change
Times seen untold aggression
And infliction of pain
If thats the only thing thats stopping war
Then thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Nuke ya nuke ya
War is just another game
Tailor made for the insane
But make a threat of their annihilation
And nobody wants to play
If thats the only thing that keeps the peace
Then thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Nuke ya nuke ya
Today was tommorow yesterday
Its funny how the time can slip away
The face of the doomsday clock
Has launched a thousand wars
As we near the final hour
Time is the only foe we have
When war is obsolete
Ill thank God for wars defeat
But any talk about hell freezing over
Is all said with tongue in cheek
Until the day the war drums beat no more
Ill thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Thank God for the bomb
Nuke ya nuke ya

Walking

Walking on a cold frosty morn
Gloves and scarf on me adorn.

Walking in the crisp fresh snow
Making my nose all aglow.

Walking up in the hills
Waterproofs on, to keep out the chills.

Walking down in the dales
Up in the sky see all the contrails.

Walking down along the field
Looking at what it has to yield.

Walking in the summer sun
When the day is nearly done.

Walking down the stony lane
Writing keeps me quite sane.

Walking shoes, boots and feet
All traipsing down the street.

Walking along full of emotion
Scribbling with a vague notion.

Walking in the evening shade
Watching daylight start to fade.

Qualified

I got a beat up piece of paper - It's a message from a king
He says - I got to get you out of here
He say - I got to let you in
'Cos I've been down the darkest road there is - I've seen the other side
I got a licence to go - Straight through your pain
Ain't no big deal - 'Cos I'm qualified - Yeah I'm qualified
Qualified in fear and pain - I'm qualified in lies and shame
I'm qualified with a broken heart
You knock me down - I get back up again
'Cos' I'm qualified
I'm qualified - To get your love
I'm qualified - To know what you're thinking of
I'm qualified - in broken dreams
I can save you from where you've been
'Cos I'm qualified
I'm qualified to make you smile
I'm qualified to save your pain
Qualified to give a real good time
Qualified to make your sun shine

What is qualified? What have I been qualified for in my life? I haven't been qualified to be a mayor. I'm not qualified to be a songwriter. I'm not qualified to be a TV producer. I'm not qualified to be a successful businessman. And so, I don't know what qualified means.

Jesus, Buddha, and
all the great teachers
from the past merely
pointed the way.

Life in Winter's Graveyard

Walking down a muddy road
In the throes of December
Heaving through the decay
Of Spring's now frozen embers
Is there life in Winter's graveyard?

Frozen trees bereft of leaves
Stand upright in frosted death
Fields once ripe and lush with fruit
Lay still without the Summer's breath
Is there life in Winter's graveyard?

Soggy soil sloshing below my feet
Autumn's leaves have been swept away
And while I march on viciously
My eyes behold only death and gray
Is there life in Winter's graveyard?

Then comes a patch of greenery
A lush, though simple, paradise
I stop to gaze at the loveliness
Beheld before beauty-starved eyes
There is life in Winter's graveyard.

A patch of three-leaved charms
Circling the base of a withered tree
I gaze at this Springtime green
Surrounded by December's villainy.
There is life in Winter's graveyard.

Though Winter's tomb encases
Our world in a carcass' masquerade
This patch of sought-for greenery
Removes the masks from Death's charade
There is life in Winter's graveyard.

Am I

Am I
Am I really the fire
Am I really the thorn
Am I really the hate
Am I really the evil

And if I am,
What are you?
The new fertile land
in wake wake of the flames
The morning rose
the one with a thorn
The hate
that turned to good
the evil that killed none?

I'll Just Start Walking

So much time spent seeking
Not enough time for faith.
If I don’t stop looking
I’ll never find the way.
I’ll just start walking
And trust that I won’t fall.
His promises aren’t conditional,
I’m not saved by my call.
I’ll just start walking
By faith and faith alone,
For earth is merely fleeting,
Heaven is my home.
I don’t know what to do
Or where on earth to go.
I’ll just start walking,
Faith doesn’t have to know.
I won’t just sit here,
Gnawing nails and moaning
Because I don’t have a crystal ball
That tells me just what’s coming.
I’ll just start walking
As best as I know how,
It’s no use waiting any longer
Or wallowing in doubt.
I’ll just start walking,
Yes, I’ll just start walking.
Is that not faith, anyway?
I’ll just start walking.

Up Er Mei

Notes:
Jt on sony.com: er mei is a mountain in china (sechuan province). before the cultural revolution there were maybe 100 buddhist shrines, temples, etc. on the way to the summit which usually pokes
Ugh the clouds like an island in the sea.
Sally and I went there to meet ben in 93 (he was traveling out of tibet). it took three days to climb the many miles of stone steps carved centuries ago into the living rock of the mountain. at
Time, I might as well have been on the stairmaster at jack lalane on broadway and 76th.
We were walking in paradise
Never did notice
Blind in the buddha land
Looking for solace
We had been told of a place
Far beyond this vale of tears
We could never have guessed
We were already blessed
There we were, where we are
In the garden
Didnt we climb on up er mei
Temple to temple
Yes and all and all along the way
The day was simple
Didnt we reach the top
Didnt we gain our goal
Did we finally stop
Surprised by the cold
We were walking in paradise
Never did tumble
Blind in the buddha land
Looking for trouble
We had been told of a place
Far beyond this vale of tears
We could never have guessed
We were already blessed
There we were, where we are
In the garden

7 Weeks

Go
So your still the same, there's nothing left in me
Do you really think that we could save this?
Now get off your feet and really do something
Do you really think it matters anyway?
You said that we were fine, your lying all this time
Your the thorn that's in my side
7 weeks go by, it's so hard to say goodbye
Take your thorn
Take your pills so you can feel more of this and more of me
Don't shut that door in my face
Do you really it matters?
Do you really think it matters anyway?
You said that we were fine, your lying all this time
Your the thorn that's in my side
7 weeks go by, it's so hard to say goodbye
Take your thorn out of my side
My side, my side
Take your thorn out of my side
My side, my side
Take your thorn out of my side
You said that we were fine, your lying all this time
Your the thorn that's in my side
7 weeks go by, it's so hard to say goodbye
Take your thorn out of my side
Side
Go

Path Of Poetry Petals

My petals are already drying out,
They’re not white anymore,
But a shade of gray!

I am walking on a path of poetry petals,
Why is my poetry tainted with
Innocent blood,
Dripping on my path?

The wind stirs up those petals,
And they run, they fly,
But then they fall again...

I am walking on a path of poetry petals,
Why is my poetry tainted with
Your kisses,
Caressing each petal of mine?

Rain starts, all the poetry
Is washed off those petals,
Massacre of raindrops!

I am walking on a dirty path of solitude,
Of ignorance, of profane light...
Eternity was washed away,
Beauty was damaged...

Poetry is always doomed,
Even if I’d write with my own blood,
On steel petals,

The raindrops would still wash
My poetry away,
It has no strength within,
No eternity within!

The winner Felt Empty, Be empty to Be A Winner!

After Kalinga war,
Emperor Ashoka looking at
the heap of corps,
Stream of blood,
Fell into well of deep thoughts,

What made civilians to fight for
Kalinga king? People chose to die, never liked
to live without the king!
The winner felt empty!
Even in his vast empire,
he didn't find such love of people,
This made him turn 180 degree, turn from outward to inward,
from desires of world turned to
desire to attain peace!
Sword lost it sharpness,
Words of Buddha became his
sword, To cut the roots of pain and
penury of heart!
The love the king imparted,
the love of people the king
gained,
Were his guide! When Alexander came,
Pururava taught him the
Dharma,
The Lion is always lion,
King of the jungle,
Whether in jungle or in a cage, 'Treat me as kIng, if not let me
fight till my death,
Dandimas words already made
his swords blunt,
The words of king made him,
Turn outward to inward, The disciple of Aristotle,
Desireless he became,
Meditating on Dandimas's words, Siddhartha's journey to became
Buddha,
Seeing dukha, dukha, dukha
behind every sukha
Why can't we see that in our life? Vardhamana's journey to
Mahaveera,
Adam and apple,
Made him outward,
Different story of
Newton and apple, Fall of Einstein from ladder,
turned them inward for answers, Venkataramana's fear of death,
Turned him inward,
Maharshi Ramana emerged
winning the death! Meditate on root of all causes,
Not on the branches,
Be Chanakya, to remove root of
ignorance,
Nothing makes one free,
Than that nothingness, Empty the pot and wash,
Before fill divine in it,
Be empty, be a winner!

A walk

I'm walking down this road, looking for a new way,
Looking to what's ahead, I move without delay,
I'm walking down this road, blind to where it'll take me,
All I know is the past, ain't where I want to be,
I'm walking down this road, hoping to start anew,
I have come so far now, I've got to continue,
I'm walking down this road, toward what I pursue,
Certain that my failure, has been long overdue.

Hatrate

I hate you for doing this to me
I hate you for hurting me
I hate you
but I don't want to
I hate myself
I don't know why
I hate this world I'm in it so cruel
I hate the person I am or was
I hate the things I have done
I hate my past
I hate the fact that I did good
I hate you for not believing in me
I hate you for judging me
I hate myself for not believing in myself
For putting myself down for underestimating my power
I hate the fact that I'm gifted
I hate being good sometimes
Cause I feel like I'm wasting my time
But wait!
Why must I hate?
I don't want to hate
I want to forgive and forget
It takes a 24-7 employee to hate
And I can't do that
It's just a burden not worthy of carrying

The fate of hate is hate

The fate of hate is hate
Hate was his way of life
Humanity he did not like
Killed thousands
Around the world
Taught others
To live in hate
In the name of religion
Called himself a human
Lived like a demon
Spread terror on the earth
Did not get
Two yards for himself
Remains buried
In the depth of the sea
Was cursed by everybody
From a child to elderly
His fate was known
Long before he died
Tried his best to hide
But could not survive
The fate of hate is hate
Hate killed hate
