Little Truths
Deluge of criminality in the moral night;
sun was taking a plunge on the falls,
in the name of cobbled up front, for our
rise and fall in the primary casuality.
Sacred contusion, on the floor of mausoleum,
when you smell like a forgotton god, and
lie in the generosity of asylum under the downy mildew.
You cannot cry in the armless death.
History begins with starvation and murders
of innocents between the blasts. Spiders were fattening
on walls eating untangled, discarded syllables.
Punishment of defeat makes you a sex slave.
The ash smeared body must lie on doormat.

Spiders In The Night
Spiders in the night
Creeping round the walls
Now you'll feel him
Crawling over you
Creepy crawly things
Filling up your bed
Soon you'll feel him
Crawling through your brains
You think he's there
Beware his bite
But when you look
The spider's not in sight
Spiders reappear
Taking peoples names
Everything is taken down insane
There's no way out
And there's no key
But here's a clue
The spider's really me
You're written in his book
The spider won't forget
You won't forget
The spiders in the night
The end is going night
Itsy witsy friends
The spiders disappearing from the night
You think he's gone
You think he's dead
There's no escape
The spiders in your head
All the spiders in the night
All the spiders in the night
All the spiders in the night

Not Your Doormat!
I'm not your doormat; I'm so much more than that.
I'm not your doormat; I deserve so much more respect than that.
I'm not your doormat; I'm so much stronger than that.
I'm not your doormat and I'm most certainly not your slave.
I'm not your doormat; I'm a human being.
I'm not your doormat; a dog to call when you too lazy to do it yourself.
You may think I'm weak but inside of me is a warrior that is stronger than you thought possible.
One day I will have the power to say no and stop kissing the feet of the idiots that constantly kick me.
Working my butt off and getting nothing in return I'm sick of it and refuse to stand for it any longer!
I'm not your doormat; a place to wipe your dirt on.

Orphans Of Wealth
There is no time to discuss or debate
What is right, what is wrong for our people
Time has run out for all those who wait
With bent limbs and minds that are feeble
And the rain falls and blows through their window
And the snow falls and blows through their door
And the seasons revolve 'mid their sounds of starvation
When the tides rise, they cover the floor
And they come from the north
And they come from the south
And they come from the hills and they valleys
And they're migrants and farmers
And miners and humans
Our census neglected to tally
And the rain falls and blows through their window
And the snow falls and blows through their door
And the seasons revolve 'mid their sounds of starvation
When the tides rise, they cover the floor
And they're African, Mexican, Caucasian, Indian
Hungry and hopeless Americans
The orphans of wealth and of adequate health
Disowned by this nation they live in
And with weather-worn hands
On bread lines they stand
Yet but one more degradation
Yes, and they're treated like tramps
While we sell them food stamps
This thriving and prosperous nation
And the rain falls and blows through their window
And the snow falls and blows through their door
And the seasons revolve 'mid their sounds of starvation
When the tides rise, they cover the floor
And with roaches and rickets and rats in the thickets
Infested, diseased, and decaying
With rags and no shoes and skin sores that ooze
By the poisonous pools they are playing
In shacks of two rooms that are rotting wood tombs
With corpses breathing inside them
Yes, and we pity their plight as they call in the night
And we do all that we can do to

We Have Not Learned That Much From The Past
We have not learned that much from past history the men of power repeat the same mistake
By threatening war on the Iraqi people for in war there's death and suffering and heartbreak
And in war there's never happiness and laughter the bomber jets they dropp death from the sky
Why to kill or capture the Iraqi leader will so many innocents have to suffer and die? .
I wonder when I hear talk of 'A Just War' since any war it never has been just
And war gives rise to vengeance and to hatred and between peoples build the barriers of mistrust,
Who ever coined that phrase was far from clever though many of those words have taken note
And too many far too many silly people that awful saying are too inclined to quote.
We have not learned much from man's past history if we have learned anything at all
The innocents of Baghdad and Basra will suffer when the big bombs from the night sky will fall
For bombs don't always hit their designated targets and for war mistakes it's the innocents who pay
With their lives or the most horrific injuries and the scars of war till death with them will stay.
We have not learned much from the mistakes of our forefathers for talk of war we hear now every day
And only on the day of the Election do the people ever seem to have a say
And the hawkish leaders who see war as okay from the path that leads to war cannot be cowed
They never seem to listen to their people though the voice of protest in their ears ring loud.

Death, be not proud!
Death, don’t think that you are the great.
Can you defy the suicides?
You are slave to many masters.
The king orders punishment.
Chance and accident take their toll.
Murders and war cause many deaths.
When a snake bites or a beast gulps,
Death occur; the pest too eats up.
They all happen not at your wills.
Fate kills the youth and poor maidens.
Death, don’t boast that you are the great.
Be calm; you are slave to the God.
Of course I fear you, not the God,
For you are merciless unlike the God..

The Blood Is All Over Me
Every day and every night is a story of bloodshed
Humans, animals, whatever- blood is red
Last night it was smeared all over me
Pouring like rain and flowing free!
Another instance of the violence of strength
Securing its way by going to any length
In the one sided battle of a macabre way
The weak falls and the slaughterer holds sway!
The butchered clings to a life so thin
Dreaming forever of a time they can win
Unable to rise before death makes them free
There’s no drying, the blood is all over me!

Sometimes, I
Sometimes I lean on sunsets
like a mildew perched
upon a serrated grass
deadlocked in an eternal frame
catching fire balls
to my conflagrations
Sometimes I go astray
into your color-contrasting skies
like a familiar kite
unfettered from the sculls
of the winds generosity
but I never sojourn
to corrupt its beauty
Sometimes I set fire
unto your hapless downpour,
and sometimes I burn
with your gilded sweat
and succinct wisdom
ardently begotten,
flummoxed quintessence
Sometimes the mausoleum
holds the bones
and sometimes the bones
holds a mausoleum
and the home
dreams of remorse
Sometimes it feels
like the same old hole:
a bottomless pit
but on the rifts
is a sliver of hope -
a bullet electrifying
the rattles on our bones
Sometimes it is a lie,
our adamant departures
but if it is the verity
upon this idiosyncrasy:
If you have truly gone
before I left the room
then I am bedazzled by hope.

You Were Gone.
I forgot how to breathe.
It's an iron hand grasp tightly around my neck.
You went away, vanished, with out a trace.
I'm motionless.
It was May possibly the best day.
I remember the smell of fresh cut grass.
I was in a hurry to get home fast.
With cheers of joy, i was getting ready to celerbrate the coming of senior year.
While the brush untangled my hair, and make-up tickled my cheeks
my phone rang
you were gone.
I listen to the story with a hint of shock.
I said my goodbyes and forced myself to hang up.
Questions ran through my head.
Who will give me away on my wedding day?
Who will my children call grandpa?
Who will cheer when i graduate?
The ground caught my body.
As i begged for god to give you back.
Tears streamed down my face with a sting in eye.
You were gone.
Anger passed, and stuck I blamed the world for taking my dad.
I crawled with everything I had.
I was face down, I begged god to let me be dead.
Everyone was gone, I remember the feeling of the cold tile floor.
I knew you raised me better then to give up.
I forced myself up, re-did the smeared make-up and headed out with friends.
It's been a year, and your still my bestfriend.
I will always Remember my dad.

Nicklin’s Torment
I woke up in a cold sweat
and turned on the light.
A shadow was moving over me,
cast by a spider of the night.
By the time I’d blinked
it’d vanished from view,
but then I saw a larger one,
followed by another two.
I closed my eyes for a moment
hoping they would disappear.
When I slowly reopened them
the bedroom was spider clear.
With my hand I mopped my brow
and then saw several more,
they were crawling on the ceiling
and marching across the floor.
I told myself that I was dreaming
or suffering from withdrawal,
but that didn’t stop the spiders
from crawling up the wall.
Sweat dripping from my brow
was stinging in my eyes.
Spiders were now on my bed
at my feet and on my thighs.
The whole room was full of spiders,
on the ceiling, walls, and floor.
My bed was covered and so was I.
I screamed stop! But out came even more.
Spiders crawling on top of spiders,
in my mouth, nose and ears,
their scary eyes staring into mine,
I was choking with utter fear.
I tried in vain to fight them off,
but my hand didn’t move a one.
I must have blacked out just then,
when I awoke they had all gone.
Things are becoming better now
and the spiders are getting less.
I’m told they’ll eventually go for good,
along with my shakes, thirst, and mess.

Christmas Zen #1
small children with dirty faces
playing on a cold floor;
rags stuffed in cracks,
'round the windowsills
roaches run up the walls,
Christmas music on the radio
cut off notice on the table;
young woman stares, half dreaming,
of stockings with nuts and oranges
(& the remembered scent of hot chocolate!)
crack pipe falls to the floor
as snow begins to fall
small children with dirty faces
playing on a cold floor

Illume (9-11)
Illume says the candle that I burn
A reflection in the window
All the way to Point Dune
Illume-like it dances
I am a cliff dweller
From the old school
I like the coastal cities
I like the lights...
I like the way the ocean blends
Into the city at night
Like living on a working river
This coastline is glittering
Like a diamond snake
In a black sky
I'm alone now
With my thoughts
Of how we could make it
Of how we could get out
What we've been through
All of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadow of a stranger
I will not take you for granted
I wouldn't trade you for jade
Or for diamonds
Not for one minute
Not for anything
I need you to be there
Just remember when I am haunted
That I was just so scared
I'm alone now
With my thoughts
Of how we could make it
Of how we could get out
What we've been through
All of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadows of a stranger
What I saw on this journey
I saw history go down
I cannot pretend
That the heartache falls away
It's just like a river
Ooh, it's never ending
I cannot pretend
That the heartache falls away
Because it's just like a river
It's never ending
It's just like a river
It's never ending
I'm alone now
With my thoughts
Of how we could make it
How we could get out
What we've been through
And all of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadow of a stranger
(What I saw on this journey... I saw history go down)
(I cannot pretend...that the heartache falls away)
(It's just like a river...ooh, it's never ending)
(I cannot pretend that the heartache falls away)
I'm alone now
With my thoughts
How we could make it
Of how we could get out
What we've been through
All of the trauma
The smell of Nag Champra
Shadows of the strangers
What I saw on this journey, what legends are made of
I cannot pretend that the heartache falls away
Just like a river, ooh, it's never ending
No, I cannot pretend that the heartache falls away
Because it's just like a river, it's never ending
Falls away...like a river, it's never ending...

That Smell
Whiskey bottles, and brand new cars
Oak tree you're in my way
There's too much coke and too much smoke
Look what's going on inside you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Angel of darkness is upon you
Stuck a needle in your arm
So take another toke, have a blow for your nose
One more drink fool, will drown you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Now they call you Prince Charming
Can't speak a word when you're full of 'ludes
Say you'll be all right come tomorrow
But tomorrow might not be here for you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Hey, you're a fool you
Stick them needles in your arm
I know I been there before
One little problem that confronts you
Got a monkey on your back
Just one more fix, Lord might do the trick
One hell of a price for you to get your kicks
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you
Ooooh that smell
Can't you smell that smell
Ooooh that smell
The smell of death surrounds you

No Defeat On Love
Stillness called me here
where bitter stars are few.
From shadow to shadow
the night is yours.
Senses sharpen,
faint galaxies approach
attentive and glistening,
invisible wings beat overhead
across this darkening loch
as castle lights fall dim
and fell the walls of time
to give us this stage again
under spotlights
of endless possibility.
Or so we might have thought
had we been older,
for innocence is blind,
groping in vain for us now.
But in the embrace of your night
regret holds no dominion.
The sweetest comfort reigns
in the aftermath of a love
woven not by chance
or by choice alone,
but for you and I to win or lose.
For nowhere is it written
that such and such must be.
And though moves may be forced
by history unfolding,
the end remains unknown
until it flies or falls.
Yet even this parting and its taint
inflicted no defeat on memory,
no defeat on love.
In the beginning
it was the little things;
In the end
it was everything.
Losing it is beyond me now.
And here,
where something of us plays on,
by the light of the indefinable
by the flowing depths
of the unwitting wisdom
of this heretical universe
I am thankful.

Another American Civil War
The rich are becoming richer than ever before
As the middle class is left expiring in its own gore.
Each day prices rise as people's confidence falls,
But wealthy are too busy to hear their desperate calls.
Rich are counting all the new money they're gaining
And can't believe that there's anyone complaining.
Like Medieval Times they live in castles behind walls,
Shielding them from the increasingly frantic calls.
As with their ancestors greed is the order of the day.
They have no interest in a poorer class with little say.
Only when downtrodden rise and demand their rights
Will walls fall and rich feel the pain of people's plights.
History is replete with middles classes becoming poor
Until they refuse to be ruled by the rich and declare war!

Never Empty
Do you ever muse what houses do
while you're at work, the kids at school,
how the traffic roars as it rolls on by
and the telephone rings with no reply.
The refrigerator sings its refrigerator tune
and the gas man calls in the afternoon.
How rain pours through that hole in the roof
and the ants infest all the children's shoes.
Have you ever thought on that dear folk,
when you're out all day and the front door's locked.
When the spiders dance and crickets chirp
with their clod hopper feet on the skirting boards,
making merriment while you're away,
assuming the house is empty all day.
Have you ever looked under old floor boards
where the mice all run when the cat's at play
and the spiders return at the break of day.
Only the house knows what goes on,
only its walls see the spiders run
and the crickets dance and the mice at play,
only the house when you're all away
except for the clock on the kitchen wall
with its heart ever beating the time of day.

Rise, Rise to the Occasion
Rise, rise to the occasion
Rise, rise to the invitations of life
Oh rise, rise to the music of joy
Uh rise, rise to the victory over strife!
This is the time for you to march forward
Oh son of the Mighty! Valor is the key
This is the urgency to show courage abundant
Oh daughter of Energy! Courage is the key
Rise, rise to the tide and rise to the low
Defeat lethargy and defeat fear
Mind the goal and attain it
The guts are here and the glory is here
Face the challenge, embrace it
Cross the puddles and the furrows
Calm the heart and fight the battle
Celebration’s for you – not the sorrows
Rise, rise then, rise O bright!
Rise, rise then to the right
Tire not, rise till the end of the path
Rise, rise then to all the might!

Adobe Walls
Buenos noches senorita, I'm mighty pleased to meet ya
Maybe you and I could sit a spell and talk
I'm new to Santa Fe, I just rode into town today
Thought I'd spend some time in these adobe walls
It's dark in this cantina, it's a wonder that I seen ya
Sittin' without any company at all
I was wondering if we might dance away this lonely night
Like two shadows on these old adobe walls
I hear Celito Lindo softly playing
As I take you in my arms and hold you close
Though I don't understand a word you're saying
Your brown eyes tell me all I need to know
These walls have stood for ages and though time still turns its pages
Hearts are still the same when night begins to fall
Sure as there are stars above we're not the first to fall in love
That's the magic of these old adobe walls
I hear Celito Lindo softly playing
As I take you in my arms and hold you close
Though I don't understand a word you're saying
Your brown eyes tell me all I need to know
These walls have stood for ages
And though time still turns its pages
Hearts are still the same when night begins to fall
As sure as there are stars above
We're not the first to fall in love
That's the magic of these old adobe walls
As sure as there are stars above
We're not the first to fall in love
That's the magic of these old adobe walls

To Write Truthfully About The Rain
i must be here when the rain falls
heavily and when the waters rise
above canals and manholes
where what i see is water everywhere
when the rain does not stop
i must cross this street to another
street taking the middle of this flooded ways
without an umbrella
without my clothes on
the rain falls in all freedom
to the pores of my body
penetrating the thickness of my hair
my mouth drinks its drops
my ears take some more
i may be blinded and even be deaf
let the rain fall freely & heavily on my body
only then can i truthfully write about this rain
this walk this wetness this freedom this oneness
on the world that cries on these drops these tears
