Heretic's Tragedy, The
A MIDDLE-AGE INTERLUDE.
ROSA MUNDI; SEU, FULCITE ME FLORIBUS.
A CONCEIT OF MASTER GYSBRECHT,
CANON-REGULAR OF SAID JODOCUS-BY-THE-BAR,
YPRES CITY. CANTUQUE, _Virgilius._
AND HATH OFTEN BEEN SUNG
AT HOCK-TIDE AND FESTIVALES. GAVISUS
ERAM, _Jessides._
(It would seem to be a glimpse from the
burning of Jacques du Bourg-Mulay, at Paris,
A. D. 1314; as distorted by the refraction from
Flemish brain to brain, during the course of
a couple of centuries.)
[Molay was Grand Master of the Templars
when that order was suppressed in 1312.]
I.
PREADMONISHETH THE ABBOT DEODAET.
The Lord, we look to once for all,
Is the Lord we should look at, all at once:
He knows not to vary, saith Saint Paul,
Nor the shadow of turning, for the nonce.
See him no other than as he is!
Give both the infinitudes their due---
Infinite mercy, but, I wis,
As infinite a justice too.
[_Organ: plagal-cadence._
As infinite a justice too.
II.
ONE SINGETH.
John, Master of the Temple of God,
Falling to sin the Unknown Sin,
What he bought of Emperor Aldabrod,
He sold it to Sultan Saladin:
Till, caught by Pope Clement, a-buzzing there,
Hornet-prince of the mad wasps' hive,
And clipt of his wings in Paris square,
They bring him now to be burned alive.
[_And wanteth there grace of lute or
clavicithern, ye shall say to confirm
him who singeth---_
We bring John now to be burned alive.
III.
In the midst is a goodly gallows built;
'Twixt fork and fork, a stake is stuck;
But first they set divers tumbrils a-tilt,
Make a trench all round with the city muck;
Inside they pile log upon log, good store;
Faggots no few, blocks great and small,
Reach a man's mid-thigh, no less, no more,---
For they mean he should roast in the sight of all.
CHORUS.
We mean he should roast in the sight of all.
IV.
Good sappy bavins that kindle forthwith;
Billets that blaze substantial and slow;
Pine-stump split deftly, dry as pith;
Larch-heart that chars to a chalk-white glow:
Then up they hoist me John in a chafe,
Sling him fast like a hog to scorch,
Spit in his face, then leap back safe,
Sing ``Laudes'' and bid clap-to the torch.
CHORUS.
_Laus Deo_---who bids clap-to the torch.
V.
John of the Temple, whose fame so bragged,
Is burning alive in Paris square!
How can he curse, if his mouth is gagged?
Or wriggle his neck, with a collar there?
Or heave his chest, which a band goes round?
Or threat with his fist, since his arms are spliced?
Or kick with his feet, now his legs are bound?
---Thinks John, I will call upon Jesus Christ.
[_Here one crosseth himself_
VI.
Jesus Christ---John had bought and sold,
Jesus Christ---John had eaten and drunk;
To him, the Flesh meant silver and gold.
(_Salv reverenti._)
Now it was, ``Saviour, bountiful lamb,
``I have roasted thee Turks, though men roast me!
``See thy servant, the plight wherein I am!
``Art thou a saviour? Save thou me!''
CHORUS.
'Tis John the mocker cries, ``Save thou me!''
VII.
Who maketh God's menace an idle word?
---Saith, it no more means what it proclaims,
Than a damsel's threat to her wanton bird?---
For she too prattles of ugly names.
---Saith, he knoweth but one thing,---what he knows?
That God is good and the rest is breath;
Why else is the same styled Sharon's rose?
Once a rose, ever a rose, he saith.
CHORUS.
O, John shall yet find a rose, he saith!
VIII.
Alack, there be roses and roses, John!
Some, honied of taste like your leman's tongue:
Some, bitter; for why? (roast gaily on!)
Their tree struck root in devil's-dung.
When Paul once reasoned of righteousness
And of temperance and of judgment to come,
Good Felix trembled, he could no less:
John, snickering, crook'd his wicked thumb.
CHORUS.
What cometh to John of the wicked thumb?
IX.
Ha ha, John plucketh now at his rose
To rid himself of a sorrow at heart!
Lo,---petal on petal, fierce rays unclose;
Anther on anther, sharp spikes outstart;
And with blood for dew, the bosom boils;
And a gust of sulphur is all its smell;
And lo, he is horribly in the toils
Of a coal-black giant flower of hell!
CHORUS.
What maketh heaven, That maketh hell.
X.
So, as John called now, through the fire amain.
On the Name, he had cursed with, all his life---
To the Person, he bought and sold again---
For the Face, with his daily buffets rife---
Feature by feature It took its place:
And his voice, like a mad dog's choking bark,
At the steady whole of the Judge's face---
Died. Forth John's soul flared into the dark.
SUBJOINETH THE ABBOT DEODAET.
God help all poor souls lost in the dark!

Happy Easter 2012
The tomb of stone's empty!
Christ Jesus has risen,
On day three after death,
Just as He had foretold!
His death on cross was sad;
Even the sun didn't shine;
And earth shuddered awhile,
As corpses came alive!
Jesus was Truth and Light;
The dark tomb couldn't contain
Christ who's Light of the world;
Death could never prevail.
The Good Shepherd, He bore
Our every cross and sin;
The spotless lamb got slain
To save man from ruin!
What obeisance, Christ showed!
His Father was so pleased;
His heart was always moved
By love, His son had proved.
Good that Jesus rose then;
Our faith has stood the test;
Like Christ, we all can rise;
If sinless, reach heaven!
Jesus had crushed satan;
The body dies but then
Resurrection is true,
As soul and body meet.
By Christmas, Christ was born;
Through Easter, Christ died, rose;
In glory, He will come
As God and King and judge!
Easter gives man new hope;
The righteous can see God;
Jesus has paid the price
For every sin of man!

When Christ-centred…
Athirst for Christ,
Must we live first!
With faith and hope,
As things, we cope.
With soul all pure,
And grace as cure,
We march ahead,
Until we're dead.
With mind, heart clean,
And divine scene,
And body cleansed,
Prayers incensed.
‘Our lord is Judge;
We need not budge,
Away from faith, '
God's Word saith!
Our war is won
When in Christ, born;
Why to worry,
Or feel sorry?
With Christ beside,
In God abide,
Let Him decide,
Life's every tide!
Our road is clear;
Heaven is near;
We need not fear
Or ever tear!
The righteous shine,
And will be fine,
As Good Shepherd,
Guides us by Word!
Heaven is nigh
And is no lie;
We need not shy
In Christ, to die.

John Barley-Corn, My Foe
John Barley-corn, my foe, John,
The song I have to sing
Is not in praise of you, John,
E'en though you are a king.
Your subjects they are legion, John,
I find where'er I go:
They wear your yoke upon their necks,
John Barley-Corn, my foe.
John Barley-Corn, my foe, John,
By your despotic sway
The people of our country, John,
Are suffering to-day.
You lay the lash upon their backs;
Yet willingly they go
And pay allegiance at the polls,
John Barley-Corn, my foe.
John Barley-Corn, my foe, John,
You've broken many a heart,
And caused the bitter tear, John,
From many an eye to start,
The widow and the fatherless
From pleasant homes to go,
And lead a life of sin and shame,
John Barley-Corn, my foe.
John Barley-Corn, my foe, John,
May Heaven speed the hour,
When Temperance shall wear the crown
And Rum shall lose its power;
When from the East unto the West
The people all shall know
Their greatest curse has been removed,
John Barley-Corn, my foe!

St. John, Apostle and Evangelist
The younger son of father, Zebedee,
And younger brother of St. James, the great;
His mother was Mary’s sister, Salome;
He was the disciple whom Jesus loved.
A fisherman like his father,
He fished in Genesaret Lake;
Called ‘Boanerges’ by Jesus,
Meaning ‘sons of thunder (anger) ’.
Born in Bethsaida, Galilee AD6,
One of twelve apostles of Christ;
A former disciple of St John, the Baptist,
A ‘half-cousin’ of Jesus Christ.
John was called Evangelist too;
A friend of Jesus, fast and thick;
He sat near Christ at Last Supper;
He went to jail with St. Peter.
Called ‘Apostle of Charity’;
St John the Theologian;
St John the divine;
He saw Peter heal the lame man.
He witnessed Jairus’ daughter being raised,
And was in Gethsemane with Peter;
He called Christ, the Lamb of God;
He was a ‘pillar of the Church’.
With Mary, John stood near the cross,
And Jesus said, ‘This is your son! ’
And to John, ‘This is your mother! ’
He saw Jesus when transfigured.
He ran with Peter to Christ’s grave,
Believing Him to have risen;
He recognized Jesus ashore,
When he appeared after He rose.
Thrown into a cauldron of boiling oil,
He did not suffer injury.
He was banished to Patmos isle.
He wrote his gospel at Ephesus.
He wrote the fourth Gospel;
He wrote three epistles;
The Book of Revelation (Apocalypse):
He founded churches in Asia Minor.
He died at AD 100 when,
He was extremely old by then;
He died on Sept 26th.
His feast is on Dec 27th.

The Glory of The Lord
The Glory of The Lord came down, in the midst of men, He was found,
When on this darkened earthly sod, men had beheld the Glory of God.
John the Baptist prepared the way, for the Glory of Christ on that day,
When upon this earth came the Light, displayed by God in men’s sight.
When Christ, by John, was baptized, He by His Father was recognized,
For that moment His Father seized, to say, in His Son He was pleased.
Then The Spirit in the form of a dove, descended on Christ from above,
Acknowledging Christ for everyone, confirming that Jesus was His Son.
Through The Spirit of The Lord, the Father and Son are of one accord,
Healing and teaching He’d proclaim, all authority in His Father’s Name.
Christ had spoke with such authority, coming from The God of Eternity,
For all Authority was given to Christ; The Son who came to give us life.
Even when Christ Jesus had died, His Father in Heaven was Glorified,
As this earth quaked down below, many hearts of men began to know,
This was The Christ God had sent, as He had the Temple curtain rent.
As one soldier said with a fearful nod, surely this was The Son of God.
Although that day Christ was killed, it was God’s Word that He fulfilled,
Being buried by men close to Him, in a tomb in the midst of men of sin.
But, much to the surprise of men, in three days, Christ had risen again.
He was resurrected just as before; Glorified again was Christ our Lord.
And Jesus again appeared to those, who heard from the grave he rose,
Appearing to men in a body Glorified, Christ who on the cross had died.
After forty days Christ would ascend, to Heaven as risen Savior of men,
And the Heavenly Glory was restored, to Jesus Christ, the Eternal Lord.
Jesus Christ, the King of Kings
Jesus Christ, the King of Kings!
His wise Word, in ears most rings;
And His praise, each church choir sings;
His one birth for earth, joy brings!
Jesus Christ, true God, true man,
Was but born with short life-span;
His great feat, repeat none can;
Seeing Him, all devils ran!
He started Christianity!
He came from eternity,
For sinners, and show pity;
He lives in heaven’s city.
His realm is not of this earth;
Prophets did forecast his birth;
Repentance can bring men mirth;
Pray to Him and get the worth!
Jesus Christ is creator;
He is Lord and protector;
His angels, men monitor;
For God’s grace, say, ’Confiteor’!
Jesus comes a second time;
He is God in every clime!
His wisdom stands for all time;
His great works are sung in rhyme!
Crucified, in pain, He lay;
He died but rose on third day!
He loved souls, scriptures say;
He’s the Truth, the Light and Way!

Learn From The Holy Bible:
About the God of creation;
About His Kingdom called Heaven;
About His angels and saints;
About His glory and power.
About the narrow road to Heaven;
About the broad paths to hell;
About His Ten Commandments;
About the need to avoid sins.
About the prophets and their prophecies;
About true stories that occurred before Christ;
About the infinite mercy of God;
About His just punishments as well.
About the love of God for man;
About the birth, death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ;
About the Last Judgment Day;
About the second coming of Christ.
About the need to repent for our sins;
About the forgiveness of sins;
About how to live a good Christian life;
About the end of the world!

John Doe On A John Deere
(john rich/don cook/conley white)
I drove a beat up tractor down a one lane road
Pick her up early and away wed go
Down to the river by the edge of her daddys farm
We used to lay in the shade of a cottonwood tree
Back of my mind I thought shed be
The one whod spend forever in my arms
She said theres gotta be more to life
I dont wanna be some farmers wife
Dont want a john doe on a john deere
Theres a whole lotta boys like you around here
I wanna hear love songs in my ear
Dont want a john doe on a john deere
Not a john doe on a john deere
Well she packed her things and left this town
And I kept working this rock hard ground
Wondering if she ever thought about me
Then she called collect from san antone
Just to hear some news from home
She laughed about how good things used to be
This big city aint good for me
Ill meet you down by the cottonwood tree
I need a john doe on a john deere
There aint a lotta boys like you around here
I wanna hear love songs in my ear
I need a john doe on a john deere
Want a john doe on a john deere

The Holy Rosary
O let me say a ‘Hail Mary’,
And add a white rose to the crown,
Atop the head of Heav’n’s Queen –
Mary, Mother of Jesus Christ.
O let me say a rosary,
And place a crown of white roses,
Upon the head of Queen Mary –
Mother of God’s son, Jesus Christ.
The perfect array of prayers,
That brings all souls to Salvation,
By freeing them from every sin,
And bestowing God’s redemption.
Our Lady loves the Rosary,
And grants requests, reciting it;
And converts souls to divine love,
By warding off all evils rife.
Most powerful weapon on earth,
That draws God’s mercy and His grace,
And makes a person most devout,
And holy like Christ’s own mother!
The Rosary – gift of Mother
Mary, has every prayer
That’s needed for miracles too,
And heaven’s blessings, one can woo!
Mary, Jesus’ intercessor,
Can get things done, we ask from God;
And spares sinners from fire of hell,
And from Almighty’s just, fair rod!

John & Elvis Are Dead
Close friend of mine as a child fell into a slumber
No sign of life since '75
Then one day he just, what do you know
I guess God just called his number
He called me up he called me up and said
I've been awake about a week
I'm thinking about asking the doctor
If he could put me back to sleep
Then he laughed and said
Hey all the girls they look the same
Don't they know just what their mothers
Paid in blood, and tears to change
But the words that made me cry
The thing he softly said
It stayed with me, it keeps messing with my head
He said, If Jesus Christ is alive and well
Then how come John & Elvis are dead?
Youth, beautiful youth
We walked through the walls until we found the truth
And said Change it, it's ugly just change it
Everyone we used to know
Must have given up, so long ago
You can see it, it's written on their faces
And the inside of their clothes
But the words that made me cry
'Cos I knew just what they meant
He turned to me and said
Hey boy, if Jesus Christ is alive and well
Then how come John & Elvis are dead?
Tell me if Jesus Christ is alive and well
Then how come Marvin & Elvis are dead?
I said If Jesus Christ is going to save us from ourselves
How come peace, love and Elvis are dead?

Let love of Jesus Christ…
Let love of Jesus Christ
Goad you to spread the Word
Across the world to all
And gather souls for God.
Let love of Jesus Christ
Help you to sacrifice
Your life to follow Him
On the road to heaven.
Let love of Jesus Christ
Make you carry your cross
And walk in the footsteps
Of Christ to Calvary.
Let love of Jesus Christ
Serve to encounter Him
In miraculous ways
Reinforcing your faith.
Let love of Jesus Christ
Help you to realize
The aim of earthly life
Is keeping soul sinfree.
Let love of Jesus Christ
Help you to sing and pray
For conversion of souls
And that more may see God!

Listen to Jesus’ Call
The man I know as Jesus,
Is Son of God, Most High;
-Conceived by Holy Spirit
In Virgin Mary’s womb!
He came to save all sinners
By death upon the cross;
He resurrected third day,
And showed his Godly powers!
What love has Father shown us!
Though earthlings don’t deserve;
He sacrificed His Son’s life,
To pay souls’ freedom price!
Now all can go to heaven,
If we can follow Christ;
Take up your cross and walk then
In footsteps of the Lord.
Renounce the work of devils;
Put trust in Jesus Christ;
He comes to judge all mankind,
When He comes second time!
Repent for sins of past years;
Reconcile with the Lord;
Remember Heaven’s nigh
For righteous and upright.
Jesus can forgive sins all;
Just ask and be made pure;
He waits in Heaven’s glory
For every soul, He made!
Oh, what a wonder God is!
He’s awesome, most loving;
His mercy is infinite
Listen to Jesus’ call!

Easter
On Christmas day
Was born a babe,
Who brought forth joy
And peace on earth.
On Easter day,
Lord Christ, who died,
Came back to life
All on his own.
Prophets had died;
Saints too had died;
Great men had died;
But none returned.
Just Jesus Christ
Rose on third day;
He won over death,
And Satan lost.
The death of Christ,
Resurrection,
Victory o’er death
Brought redemption-
For all mankind,
For endless time;
Heaven was now
Open to all.
Sinners who say
‘I’m sorry, God,
And repent well,
Can avoid hell’
Christ paid the price
Of mankind’s sins
By death on cross,
And his suffering.
When we do sins,
They wound the Lord,
And hurt him more
And make him sore,
Let’s rise with Christ;
Renounce Satan,
His pomps and works;
Live for Christ’s sake.
Heaven is ours.
Christ is the way;
He is the Truth;
He is the Light.
Let’s follow Christ
To Calvary;
And heaven-wards:
ETERNITY!

Speaking Against ‘Da Vinci Code’ -2
So mean, some try demeaning Christ –
The Son of God, the Almighty;
They know His birth was one divine,
From Virgin Mary, by God’s word!
The Lamb of God was sacrificed
For sins of mankind, on the cross;
The Son of God became a man,
To just fulfill His Father’s wish.
Yes, Jesus knew the Scriptures well;
He had two natures – man and God,
Like two faces of any coin;
As man, he was fully a man!
‘The Son of God could forgive sins’
- The words of Jesus Christ Himself;
Like God, He loved the sinner who
Confessed his sins and made amends.
Christ chose twelve men as Apostles;
May be, some women heard his talks;
Christ won over satan’s designs,
When latter tempted him, at last.
The sinless man called Jesus Christ
Defeated satan, once for all;
And when He rose from death, third day,
He showed his pow’r divine to world.
To mar his name by saying that
Jesus was married, had a son –
Amounts to blasphemy and Lie:
A sin, His Father won’t forgive.
‘Beware you liars of God’s word! ’
Lord Jesus Christ will come again
In glory, as Judge of mankind:
Ask forgiveness, repent for sins!

Song on Divine Love
There cannot be a love,
More steadfast than Thine!
There cannot be a God,
More loving than mine!
Lord Jesus Christ who died
On the cross for us,
Redeemed sinners on earth,
Giving heaven's bliss!
O let me give thanks, praise
To Lord God Most high!
Let me ask pardon, grace,
Before I must die!
For, Jesus is my friend
Until the world's end;
He will judge all mankind,
My life, I'll amend!

Sonnet: For Heaven’s Sake, Be Righteous
Like a roaring lion, prowls the devil,
Our adversary, to undo our good;
For, enough is enough; do no evil;
Receive the crown of life through good priesthood.
Shepherd the flock like how Jesus Christ did;
The Good Shepherd died for no fault of His;
Be like the city on the hill unhid;
Walk in the shadow of the cross to bliss.
Oh, how much longer must we live in sin?
Such precious time has gone awaste in life;
God helps the righteous against devils win;
The life in heaven is one without strife.
Oh, live a selfless life for Jesus’ sake;
Remember that Heaven, hell isn’t a fake!
