Twisting The Truth
I drew a horse that looked like an ass.
So I declared that I've drawn an ass.
I went to her with desire to woo
On the pretext of seeing my friend there.
I told my kin that I came to see him
Whereas I saw him on my way.
I twist the truth to suit occasions
And gain from there an advantage.

Twist
Well youve got me working so hard lately
Working my hands until they bleed
If I was twice the man I could be
Id still be half of what you need
Still you lead me and I follow
The small of your back up to your chin
Over to the tip of your switchblade
As you pull it out as you stick it in
(twist twist twist) it can go a little deeper
(twist twist twist) Im wear
T) it can go a little deeper
(twist twist twist) Im wearing these chains
(twist twist twist) you make it hurt real good
(twist twist twist) (but? ) I love the pain
(twist twist twist) it can go a little deeper
(twist twist twist) Im wearing these chains
(twist twist twist) you make it hurt real good
(twist twist twist) I love the pain

Turn it on
Quietly says:
Is this on? oh [questionable]
* Im so tired I cant get to sleep
* and the squeaking of the bed
* is right in time with the song thats
* repeating in my head
Its uncomforting to rember how you used to like a good f**k
Every once in awhile
* I just want(ed) you to know (that)
* when I do it, I only think of you

Twist In The Dark
Twist in the dark
I twist in the dark
Love is on the wing
Concorde
Seems like a groundhog
Your face could
Change everything
With a phone call
Like a maddog
Well it laid me out
When you told me
You'd slept about
And now I
Twist in the dark
I twist in the dark
Mad reasoning
Keeps us separate
Twist in the dark
I twist in the dark
My priorities are paradise
Love is in the air
Those arrows are sharp
And narrow
Your face is in a static state
In a picture that I captured
Well I broke down
When you told me
You'd slept around
And now I
Twist in the dark
I twist in the dark
Mad reasoning
Keeps us separate

Let It Go
Subtle signs that fell on blinded eyes
And no one spoke 'cause no one had to
Didn't notice that my guard was down
All I did was let it through
Now I don't know what you want me to say to you
When I don't know how I can tell you the truth
Stumbled out across the boundary lines
Tripped up on a stick of truth
Temporary was this tear in time
All I did was let it through
Now I don't know what you want me to say to you
When I don't know how I can tell you the truth
If you were a friend you would've asked her first
If you were a friend you wouldn't ask me first
If I was your friend I would've called you first
If I was your friend I could've told the truth
But I was willing to let this go
Are you willing to let this go
I am willing to let this go
Are you willing to let this go

A Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride
Oh what fun it is to see
A carriage drawn by a horse
Still after all these years
You can find them still, of course
For in special towns you can find
A horse drawn carriage to travel in
In New Orleans for instance, folks
So very beautiful with lots of trim
But can you imagine just how
Exciting they were in their day
Perhaps a roof and maybe not
Like riding atop a trailer with hay
So many wonderful styles there were
You can see in museums and such
Fancy some of them really are
With an old-fashioned classic touch
So if you get a chance to see or ride
On a horse drawn carriage some time
Jump at the chance ‘cause you know
It’s the most exciting day you’ll find!

Bipolar Syndrome
You told me to fly
But you break the wings
Do you want me to fall
So that you can win
You told me to smile
But you raise the fear
Do you want me to lie
To hide all those tears
You told me to let
But you bring back again
Don't you want me forget
Those desperate games
You told me to change
But you keep calling my name
Don't you want me ruin
The peace I finally gain
You told me be strong
But you dropp me sorrow
Do you want me be drown
Never see tomorrow
You told me be brave
But you seem not to care
Do you want me be flare
So you can not stop to stare
You told me be the best
But you never understand
Do you want me restrain
To do what I desire
You told me to dream
But you crush my hope
Do you want me be bound
By your beautiful lies

Any Opportunity I Can Get
Which view,
In your opinion...
Has more of an advantage,
From a horse drawn cart?
The one riding as a passenger,
While sitting in the front?
Or the one from the back,
With nothing but the rear of the horse to see?
'That's difficult to answer.
I have grown very attached to gardening.
And any opportunity I can get,
To collect free manure...
I jump and grab it immediately.
On the other hand...
Some of that indecisive crap,
I hear coming from the mouths of those...
Riding along AND ignoring the view,
Provides for me no benefit at all.
And I can tell from the horse's expression,
There is something I do with something 'he' does...
I am getting for free!
And at his expense.
And I can tell by the look in his eyes,
He has become suspicious as to why...
When I ride,
I am the only one who feeds him carrots! '
I see!
So you prefer the rear view?
'That depends on the time of the year.
And what I am willing,
To sit through to listen and hear.
Some crap is more beneficial than others.'

This Present Darkness
I'll get through the present darkness; yes through it with The Lord,
For He's an unchanging Light in darkness, and a solid Rock for sure.
Trials will come in this world; He told us we will have tribulation,
But we look for a world far better through His promise of salvation.
For when life get truly hard to accept and my only question is why,
I think of Paul's revelation, when after the trumpet we hit the sky.
A glorious day is coming friend, to leave the world behind for sure,
The day we see those who went before us and together meet The Lord.
When my life seems filled with pain and I begin to wallow in sorrow,
The Sprit reminds me my home is above and I look towards tomorrow.
As a Christian I'm not promised an easy life filled with prosperity,
Instead blessings come my way, when I Glorify God in my adversity.
Trials are so tiny compared to the blessings The Lord sends my way,
And even when my heart gets heavy, I know He's coming again one day.
Knowing that He's coming again very soon, helps me I'm very sure,
To take full advantage of each day and witness at every opened door.
Jesus told us we are to be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove,
But we need to be serious about Eternity and win the lost with love.
My friend, all comfort and earthly gain is only temporal prosperity,
But trials for the Christian are a wealth of gain for all Eternity.

Those were the Days
The horse drawn hearse impresses me
Drawn by a pair of well matched blacks.
Moves slowly onward sedately.
With an attendant at the back.
The coachman in dark livery.
A black crepe bow adorns his hat
Controls his horses easily
There can be little doubt of that.
It is a sight we rarely see.
In the busy world of today.
A horse drawn hearse traditionally.
Was seen to be the only way.
To embark on your last journey
To the local cemetery.

Though hell should bar the way,
A friend is a friend,
well beyond the end.
Because a friend lives in the heart,
the soul,
which turns into sweet memories,
when you fall apart and lose control.
A friend, is SURELY a friend,
well beyond the end.
Because a friend shares good cheers,
through sadness and tears,
letting you know that you have a friend here.
A friend is a friend,
well beyond the end.
Because a friend is there to;
Bear pain,
bear witness to the fact that you care,
And gain,
Gain the fact that;
through sorrows, grief, and pain,
*though hell should bar the way,
share laughter and smiles,
well beyond a mile.
Because a friend can be there,
-be there.
Because a friend can be there
at any expense,
at any given time.

The Regretable Pattern
I drew a pattern on the floor
Stood up to walk the lines
Faced the end and found the more
I walked there were more signs
I read the detours, U-turns, yields
Tried to leave the path I drew
Admired from afar the oceans, woods and fields
I wish I'd drawn in but never knew
I neared my destination quicker than I'd hoped
Looked upon the soil cold and dark in which I'd lay
Regretted using pen, and trying in vain around I groped
For something to erase the pre-laid plans for my final day

Getting A Horse
So here I am
15 and over weight
not especially pretty
but not bad;
but invisible
and I hide in gym
and the looks I get
keep me in my place.
I try for friends
but the other outcasts
like me
don't seem to want to
draw attention;
can't talk to anyone,
teachers think I'm dull
I talk to my pillow
only my cat understands me
And, of course,
I don't have a boy friend.
She:
'Ok, let go through all of this.
What do you think comes first.
Why don't you pretend that you are your best friend
What would you tell you best friend to do? '
Daughter:
'I don't know.
I would tell her to think about what she can do
or what she really likes.'
'And that is? '
'Horses'
'Horses'.
'I didn't know you liked horses.'
'They are neat.'
'Ok tell your friend what to do about liking horses.
What does she want to do? '
'She wants a horse.'
'Wants a horse
To get a horse what does she needs to do.'
'Get some money.'
'Well how? '
'Maybe babysitting? '
'Sure tell your friend I have someone who needs babysitting
and she can do it to make money.'
'So I did, took a year,
but I got my horse.
some friends along the way
and a boyfriend.

Calamity Jane
He looked like a good saddle horse
though his hair was long
and his beard three days course
she soon had the saddle on him
and he worked at the ride
it was a matter of pride
everything that he tried
drew the noose tighter still
till she'd broken his will
till he'd do anything that she said
he worked like a mule
while she soaked the young fool
taking just about all that he made
when she cut the horse loose
he was well beyond use
and she advanced on the herd once again.

Twist
I spoke your name for many days
Pronouncing it in several ways
And moving letters all around
And substituting every sound
And when you heard the end result,
I told you it was not my fault,
If you were here more of the day,
It wouldn't twist around that way
Wouldn't twist around (wouldn't twist around) that way Whoo!

Tell us The Truth
Tell us the truth
Tell us the truth
They said.
So he told them
The Truth,
Untainted
Undiluted
Straight
Direct
That's not the truth
It hurts,
They said.
Tell us the 'real' truth,
The Truth!
So he repeated it.
Again, the unadulterated
Spotless,
Plain truth.
You do not like us, do you, they said.
We're asking you
For the 'proper' truth,
The 'Real Truth',
Not
This hurtful rubbish
Tell us that truth
Tell us that truth.
So, weary,
And now wary,
He told it to them
Once more.
He did not change his story,
He told them
What he had always believed in,
He told them
That no matter how unpleasant
It sounded,
His feelings for them
Remained the same
He gave it to them
Once more,
Direct,
Undiluted,
Impartially,
But passionately nevertheless.
The Truth.
Go away, go away
They said.
You do not understand us
You do not like us.
Go away.
So goes the story
Of how they lost
The best leader
They could ever have had,
The only one
Who really understood them,
The only one
Who wanted nothing
But the best
'For Them',
The only one
Who never shied away
From The Truth
The only one
Who loved them as they were.

Just a Horse
From time to time,
People tell me 'lighten up, it's just a horse.'
From time to time
People tell me, ' a lot of money spent'
From time to time
People tell me, 'it's just a horse.'
If you really think it's
'Just a horse, '
Like 'just a promise, '
'Just a friend, '
Than you can't see
The beauty of it all.
You just can't see.
The distance traveled,
The time spent,
And the costs involved for
'Just a horse.'
The reason to rise,
Early in the morning,
Taking those long walks,
Even when it's pouring.
It's my proudest moments,
My only company,
The saddest moments,
And the gentle touch,
That gave me a reason to go on.
It's the hopes and dreams,
And the coming of the future.
The fond memories of the past,
And the unforgettable joy of the coming day.
So...
If you really think it's,
'Just a horse, '
Like 'just a promise, '
'Just a friend, '
Than you can't see,
The beauty of it all.
You just can't see.
'Just a horse'
Brings out the best in me,
'Just a horse'
It gives me who I am and
Keeping me from being,
'Just a girl.'
'Just a woman'
'Just another passing being'
I'll smile and nod to agree,
knowing deep down I don't.
you may think it's 'just a horse, '
but it never will be for me.
If you really think it's,
'Just a horse, '
Like 'just a promise, '
'Just a friend, '
Than you can't see,
The beauty of it all.
You just can't see.

What is a Horse?
What is a horse?
A horse has eyes as dainty as a mink.
The grace is interrupted merely by a blink.
A horse is beauty.
What is a horse?
A horse is a tree in a storm that never goes down.
A horse is a weathered rock that stays around.
A horse is ancient.
What is a horse?
A horse waltzes like breeze over rivers.
She curvets and leaps like rain shivers.
A horse is a marionette.
What is a horse?
A horse is determination, that never stops flowing.
A horse is fondness, that never stops growing.
A horse is poetic power.

Ho-down
(elliot wolff / howie hersh /da count / paula abdul / robb boldt / jesse greer / irving mills / cab calloway / clarence gaskill)
Chorus:
Thats what I want
Thats what I need
Thats what I want
Ho-down
She sprays her lies around her like the clouds release the rain
And endless stream of promises that vaporize again
Remember last tuesday when you said it was the end
You caught her in your nissan getting funky with your best friend
She will never change till her flesh is under dirt
But then at least shes hangin with neighbors she deserves
Forgive me if I seem to sound a little on the loose
But I cannot pour sugar just to sweeten up the truth
I would like to wish her to a long forgotten dream
Happened early morning when I was just two or three
Everyone around who didnt quite fit in the mix
Turned and waved goodbye and disappeared without a hitch
Except my friend billy who live just across the way
The world belonged to us forever on from that day
Until we ran into that sneaky girl from down the street
Who tried to smile so pretty stealing billy right from me
Chorus
The world spun around her everywhere that she would go
But even my friend billy knew that she was just a - oh no
She had such a way to twist and turn a simple truth
Told my friend billy I had been a little loose
Then billy took her by the arm and left me standing all along
I just had to wait there watching them do-se-do
Till billy pushed her in the deepest darkest hole around
It was goodbye sneaky girl - ho down
I would like to wish her for her a place to somewhere far
A place in outer space to some exotic little star
A million miles away would probably suit the planet fine
Someplace where its clear she is gone and you are mine
Or maybe some romantic little island in the sea
As far away as it is possible to be
She can have the flowers and the wind
And I can have my baby back with me once again
Chorus
I would like to wish for her another little story
My daddy said to me when I was just a little girly
He told me bout a pretty graceful lovely lady bird
Who never could find a nest good enough for her
From every tree she landed in she saw one that was better
So off she went before she ever could regain her breath
Wasnt it a pity when she finally hit the ground
It was goodbye lovely birdy - ho down
Goodbye lovely birdy - ho down

Twist in my sobriety
All God's children need travelling shoes
Drive your problems from here
All good people read good books
Now your conscience is clear
Now your conscience is clear
In the morning when I wipe my brow
Wipe the miles away
I like to think I can be so willed
And never do what you say
And never do what you say
Look my eyes are just holograms
Look your love has drawn red from my hands
From my hands you know you'll never be
More than twist in my sobriety
More than twist in my sobriety
More than twist in my sobriety
We just poked a little pie
For the fun that people have at night
Late at night don't need hostility
The timid smile and pause to free
I don't care about their different thoughts
Different thoughts are good for me
Up in arms and chaste and whole
All God's children took their toll
Cup of tea take time to think yeah
Time to risk a life a life a life
Sweet and handsome soft and porky
You pig out 'til you've seen the light
Pig out 'til you've seen the light
Half the people read the papers
Read them good and well
Pretty people nervous people
People have got to sell
News you have to sell
Look my eyes are just holograms
Look your love has drawn red from my hands
From my hands you know you'll never be
More than twist in my sobriety
More than twist in my sobriety
More than twist in my sobriety.
