Giving me hopes

I could cross her glances,
Elicit responses, exchange feelings,
Engage in courtship and I even touched
Her hands as if in an accident.
That’s all. She enjoyed giving me hopes.

A book is sent out into the world, and there is no way of fully anticipating the responses it will elicit. Consider the responses called forth by the Bible, Homer, Shakespeare - let alone contemporary poetry or a modern novel.

Giving Up On Love

Rick astley
Giving up on love
Giving up on love
I was so crazy about you, everyone knew
I couldnt sleep when I found out, yeah
You feel the way you do
So maybe its my turn now
To show you how I feel
So listen to what I say
cos these feelings I cant conceal
Im giving up on love
cos Ive been hurt before
Giving up on love
And I dont want you no more
Im giving up on love
cos Ive been hurt before
Giving up on love
And I dont want you no more
I dont believe that you need me
So dont say you do
There aint no reason for staying
We both know we are through
So dont try to stop me now
cos all we had has gone
(all we had has gone)
So listen to what I say
cos these feelings are oh so strong
Im giving up on love
cos Ive been hurt before
Giving up on love
And I dont want you no more
Im giving up on love
cos Ive been hurt before
Giving up on love
And I dont want you no more
Giving up, giving up, giving up on love
Giving up, giving up, giving up on love
Giving up, giving up, giving up on love
Giving up, giving up, giving up on love
So dont try to stop me now
cos all we had has gone
(all we had has gone)
So listen to what I say
cos these feelings are oh so strong
(choruses to fade)

Fundamental of Liar Chapter LXXXII: Accident

It’s not a terrorist attack
It’s not a battle of war
It’s just an accident

It’s not natural disaster
It’s not global tragedy
It’s just an accident

It’s not a conspiracy theory
It’s not a character murder
It’s just an accident

It’s not a careless mistake
It’s not a wrong decision
It’s just an accident

It’s not a misfortune
It’s not a twisted fate
It’s just an accident

It’s not a planned piracy
It’s not a suicide party
It’s just an accident

It’s not a mechanical failure
It’s not a human error
It’s just an accident

It’s not a crash
It’s not a downfall
It’s just an accident

Courtship, harmless

Wooing and courtship
do not result in sex.
They confine to minds
and spare flesh.
It is the lure of lust that,
when chanced,
Indulges in adultery, with
no courtship.
Courtship is outdoor,
Detectable.
Sexual indulgence is indoor,
Who knows?

What, if she has been free?

What, if she had a crush for someone?
What, if she had courtship with someone?
What, if she had bodily contact with someone?
What, if she had slept with someone?
As long as she has had passion for me
And responds to my advances
I don’t find any itch in having her.

The Hands Of Fate

in not all instances
perfect as you consider them to be
these hands
are not meant always for taking something in
not at all
there are enlightening moments
when the hands are meant for giving
without having an exchange
or value
there are dances of the hands
clasped in the solemnity of prayer
open to the art of acceptances
the solitude of keeping them
inside your pockets
or the holding of the face of love
bringing it near yours
for the kiss

the heart guides you what to do
with what life likes to give
you and what you must accept
without any remorse....

the hands knows when to take sides
with shame
as you begin to cover your face
and run away

Samuel Johnson

Such is the common process of marriage. A youth and maiden exchange meeting by chance, or brought together by artifice, exchange glances, reciprocate civilities, go home, and dream of one another. Having little to divert attention, or diversify thought, they find themselves uneasy when they are apart, and therefore conclude that they shall be happy together. They marry, and discover what nothing but voluntary blindness had before concealed they wear out life in altercations, and charge nature with cruelty.

Feelings From a Bottle

Feelings from a bottle
Thats what he used to say
I get my feelings from a bottle
Every night and every day

They used to make you happy
The feelings that you had
But since you have lost everyone
The bottles make you sad?

Why don't you throw the bottles?
Just chuck them in the bin
He'd look at me with a deep sadness
Because I know I will give in.

No you wont, I used to say
Your strong like superman.
He picked up another bottle and said
Honey, I don't think I can.

So I would watch him and the bottles
Of feelings, sadness and hate
I would hide away and cry
Because the feelings would graduate

And then one night he decided
That he should take a drive
Too many bottles of feelings
He had a car accident, and he died.

Alibi's

(d. pickerill/p. o'donoughue)
It's no use you saying
That you can't be staying
'round this place anymore
Then there's no point remaining
That the sky keeps on raining
'round this particular door
Then it's no surprise
All you keep giving me
All you keep giving me
Are your alibis
They're only alibis
It's no use you dreaming
Of old times and feelings
That just aren't there anymore
Then there's no use you scheming
About ways to stop me leaving
Because i've heard it all before
And it's no surprise
All you keep giving me
All you keep giving me
Are your alibis
They're only alibis
There's no sense in crying
Or sitting down and sighing
It doesn't work anymore
And talking's out of fashion
There's no substitute for passion
And i can't take it anymore
And it's no surprise
'cos all you keep giving me
All you keep giving me
Are your alibis
All you keep giving me
All you keep giving me
Are your alibis
All you keep giving me
All you keep giving me
Are your alibis

Losing Hope

the pulp of my past
decays in the lines of my palm

and if my mouth shuts up
because of somethings unswallowable
such as bitterness and unbearable sourness

i then think of you

nights of unease
as frequent as the rain of december
and because of coldness and feelings of
wet rags and moldy shoes on the rack

because of all these
and in a few steps towards a line of bushes
a few glances of clouds and horizons

my hopes are lost as clumsily and
irreparably as
a stone rippling its way to the sea

Reggae Accident

Reggae accident
By: lucas p. gravell
1993
-- spoken:
Okay now, get ready heres your part. now listen to me.
It was a reggae accident
I said a reggae accident
I cant here you
A reggae accident
A reggae accident
A reggae accident
Now make room for the band
A reggae accident
Here they come here they come
A reggae accident
I say make room for them
A reggae accident
Ha ha, look out now
It was a reggae accident
A reggae accident
This is not a political statement
Nor is it a farce
In the land of the great bald bird
The rasta man is sparse
He does not like our urban jungle
Or our capitalistic nightmare
He does not believe in auto insurance
Mon I dont believe that is fair
It was a reggae accident
Four rastas in a rambler
A reggae accident
They came from out of nowhere
A reggae accident
They were smoking some spliff cigars
A reggae accident
They totaled out my car
I lost the case that sealed my fate
Last week in municipal court
The judge ruled for rasta restitution
Of a most peculiar sort
Now theres four stoned faces at my dinner table
And my wife wonders how come
She does not mind the extra mouths to feed
As much as she minds those after dinner drums
We sing was a reggae accident
Four rastas eating pasta
A reggae accident
Pass the parmesan please
A reggae accident
How does a rasta spell relief
A reggae accident
No problem mon, pass the spliff
Oh reggae down...
Now the sun shines on the isle of jamaica
As its done since time began
No problem says the rasta mon
When I asked to join his band
You see I sold my house I quit my job
I left that narrow-minded wife
And I moved to the island of jamaica ya
Just to live that rasta life
It was a reggae accident
Four rastas in a rambler
A reggae accident
They came from out of nowhere
A reggae accident
They were smoking some spliff cigars
A reggae accident
Now Ive become a rasta star
It was a reggae accident
Look out world
A reggae accident
You know the harder they come
A reggae accident
The harder they fall one and all
A reggae accident
It was just an accident one day
A reggae accident
A reggae accident
A reggae accident
A reggae accident
-- spoken:
Come back, come back to jamaica
Come back to the way things used to be
Ya, ya lets play some dominoes now mon
Come on...

To Deeply Reach

The gift and giving of things,
In an exchange to receive and take...
Seems never able to replace,
The touch of a hug.
Or the feeling of being embraced.

Time being in one's presence,
Helps to sparkle and cheer...
More than glitter and glitz.
And the simplicity of the action...
Stays longer to reminisce.

The gift and giving of things,
Is as trite as an expression...
Spoken without warmth.
And interpreted as superficial,
As an ornament worn to flaunt.

From the eyes,
It comes as no surprise...
Who one selects to prioritize.

And with a touch of a hug to deeply reach...
One is reminded instantly,
Who sincerely is there with feelings to greet.
And who comes around to go through a a routine...
As an inconvenient necessity to complete.

Not A Photocopy Or A Transparency

I do not need an answered survey,
To review responses...
As if I do not know details or understand,
What my life has been like.
And first hand.

I've known each day,
About those obstacles that have come my way.
And what it is I must do.
And who it is I must fight!

Forget those graphs with statistics crafted.
My eyes have been wide open,
Despite of outsiders...
Giving their opinions to convince others,
Information gathered...
Is a life I've known to live,
Whether wrong or right.

I've lived my life and not in hiding.
Day and night,
And for a number of years.

I am not a photocopy or a transparency.
Every emotion I feel is real,
Here inside of me.
And when I get upset with my feelings hurt...
It is up to me to know,
To what degree I've got to heal.

I do not need an answered survey,
To review responses...
As if I do not know or understand,
What my life has been like.
And first hand.

I've known each day,
About those obstacles that have come my way.
And what it is I must do.
And who it is I must fight!

Everyday since my birth,
Here on Earth...
I've observed and felt and grew.
And all of the experiences I have obtained...
I've learned more than one lesson!
I've learned quite a few.

And with each day I am blessed to live,
God has granted me the wisdom...
To know what it is,
And what it takes...
For me to succeed and complete,
Whatever it is that I must do to feel upbeat.

I am not on the sidelines,
Observing to be entertained.
I am an active participant and involved...
No matter who says what,
Or with unsolicited authority...
May say or claim!
I am 'me'.
Regardless of those labels attached to my name.

Out Of My Dreams

(steven dale jones/doug nichols)
Last night you were here again, third time this week
You always slip in when Im asleep
I thought those old feelings would be long gone by now
Why in the world do you bother to come back around
Youre out of my arms
Youre out of my life
Out of every thought
That I let cross my mind
Youre out of my hopes
That it might be you every time the telephone rings
But will I ever get you out of my dreams
There we were making wishes on evening stars
Promises sealed with kisses straight from our hearts
But then I woke up to reality again
Even the sweetest dreams come to an end
Youre out of my arms
Youre out of my life
Out of every thought
That I let cross my mind
Youre out of my hopes
That it might be you every time the telephone rings
But will I ever get you out of my dreams
But will I ever get you out of my dreams

Micro-irrigation

Physical contact alone is not
The source of irrigation
For sexual gratification.
Presence, glances, gestures,
Visions, talks, allusions,
Responses, letters, presents,
Photographs, thoughts and fantasy
Also function as subsoil
Or drip irrigation,
To keep the crop alive.
No wilt, no rape will result.
