There Are Walls There Are Ceilings

there are wall here and there are ears who listen so well
and eyes who see too clearly
you,
there are ceilings too
there are limits to what you can do
there are floors
between
you
now the cup has overflowed the dams break out
a flood
will cover you, the floor meets the ceiling and you are sandwiched
like a witch,

see..how you crumple?

Pictures

Whoa oh yeah
I've seen pictures
Well i saw you just the other day
And i could not help but look your way
I say you've just got this special look
That has got me completely hooked
Ow
Pictures on the wall
Pictures everywhere
Pictures on the wall
Everywhere i stare
Pictures on the wall
The ceiling and the floor
I'm in a metal room
And i cannot find the door
Will this feeling ever go away?
Or will this feeling stay?
Will this feeling ever go away?
'cause i can't live the rest of my life this way
Pictures on the wall
[c'mon]
Pictures everywhere
Pictures on the wall
[c'mon c'mon]
Everywhere i stare
Pictures on the wall
[c'mon c'mon]
The ceiling and the floor
I'm in a metal room and i cannot find the door
I see your face in the clouds in the sky
I see your face before my eyes, yeah
I see your face everywhere
And now i don't know what to do
Oh oh
Pictures on the wall
Pictures everywhere
Pictures on the wall
Everywhere i stare
Pictures on the wall
The ceiling and the floor
I'm in a metal room
And i cannot find the door
Whoa pictures...

Some Things Do Not Meet

heaven and earth
floors and ceilings
fish and fire
the plus and minus

in between is the sky,
air and space
the bottom and
the zero

imagine
you are sleeping
on your bed
and then the floor and
the ceiling kiss

the plus and minus
touching hands
electrically

the fish catching fire
on its tails
without the
the cookware
in between

imagine
the marriage of heaven
and earth

where shall you be?

My Ears - My Eyes

My ears are my eyes because I am blind.
When I cross the street I listen for the sound of cars braking.
My ears are my eyes.
When I enter a room I tap my cane onto the floor and listen for the distance the echo travel to know how far I am away from someone else. My ears are my eyes.
I may never physical see the beauty of a spring day, but when I hear the birds are chirping, bikes constantly peddling by and lovers saying I love you. I know it is a beautiful spring day. I may be blind but I still see my ears are my eyes.

Note: No I am not blind myself but I know several people who are and this is me letting the rest of the world how they see through my poetry.

Lightning

we hear the dealers with their words
that ride the tails
of their cigarette smoke
sliding through the tunnels of our ears

those greasy marionettes of
real bone and blood
stand on the corner of washington square

vision stinging
eyes blurring

elevators got your rising so high
17 floors you want so much more
elevators got you rising so high
17 floors you want so much more

there's lightning on the ceiling
coming from the corner of her eye...

somewhere horses flee from thunder
somewhere the bones of a cat
are buried under a garden
well ther's a radio on
broken songs empty digression
won't be ling to you and me are gone from here

lightning on the ceiling
coming from the corner of her eye

A Night in Their Attic

From this attic, the ceiling is
Almost kissing the floor
And the hapless heart is
No too far from a plethora of slumber
As I lay here, pensively wafting
In the smoldering rail tracks of oblivion
Darting to the final station: an abeyance

My sodden eyes swept the parameter
And it measured the expanse;
Everything was closer.
My emaciated chest
Can even rise to graze
The creamy phosphors of the ceiling
But there was a backdoor
Where everything slewed
Because in their attic
I was still
Bleak
Rolling in the gutters.

The clock didn't shifted
Its gears and triggered
A blacker serration of cinders
Plummeting with the pillars
Of my constitutions
Yet, I engulfed the humming air
Like I never tasted it
Because I wanted more life
And there could be one,
Stashed in these corners.

The moon didn't sprawled on her divan,
The sun didn't grind his maws,
And the crowd didn't fill
The maladroit patios,
But I was breathing
Between the floors
And the ceilings,
Restless from a revelry
And a lack of slumber
As how I wanted to be
Benumb from
Bereavement:
A life cloyed
By genial walls.

There's More To Me Than Meets The Eye

There's more to me than meets the eye
Look closely, I too also cry
There's more to me than meets the eye
I swear to God and that's no lie
There's more to me than meets the eye
Get a chance to know me then decide
There's more to me than meets the eye
What the eyes percieves isn't always right
There's more to me than meets the eye
I'll be that guy on whom you can always rely
There's more to me than meets the eye
I still believe in love, happiness and rainbows in the sky
There's more to me than meets the eye
Behind all this, I'm a shy guy
There's more to me than meets the eye
Give me a chance to be a part of your life
There's more to me than meets the eye
I'll give you my heart, in which you'll reside
There's more to me than meets the eye
I look into yours and feel alive
There's more to me than meets the eye
Reminicing on the first time we met, and those cheesy lines. To my face it brings a smile.
There's more to me than meets the eyes
Without you in my life I'd rather die
There's more to me than meets the eye
Now that I've told you, do you believe in us.

Act Like You Know

Uh
Big Will and Tra-Knox
Yo yo yo yo jump
When I tell you make your way up to the front
Addicted to the way I kick it I know what you want
The don jiggy catering to what your feeling
Pack it to the floor up to the ceiling
Shake
What ya momma gave you baby don't let nothin' break
Yo watch cause we don't care how much time it's gonna take
Dance floor packed and it's lookin' like a lake
It's obduction here's your instructions
Slide
Get up off that wall girl stop tryin' to hide
Trackin' afrodesiac won't be denied
Chill with that cigarette take it outside
Messin' with my vibe
I don't like that
Bounce
I'm a press your player when it counts
Party like a lamb and a wolf about to pounce
The don jiggy catering to what you're feeling
Pack it to the floor up to the ceiling

Bring it on the nothing
Ain't no time for fun things (come on)
Just let it flow (jump on)
Act like you know
The only floor is jumpin'
Ooh these girls are somethin' (come on)
Just let it flow (jump on)
Act like you know

Nicklin’s Torment

I woke up in a cold sweat
and turned on the light.
A shadow was moving over me,
cast by a spider of the night.

By the time I’d blinked
it’d vanished from view,
but then I saw a larger one,
followed by another two.

I closed my eyes for a moment
hoping they would disappear.
When I slowly reopened them
the bedroom was spider clear.

With my hand I mopped my brow
and then saw several more,
they were crawling on the ceiling
and marching across the floor.

I told myself that I was dreaming
or suffering from withdrawal,
but that didn’t stop the spiders
from crawling up the wall.

Sweat dripping from my brow
was stinging in my eyes.
Spiders were now on my bed
at my feet and on my thighs.

The whole room was full of spiders,
on the ceiling, walls, and floor.
My bed was covered and so was I.
I screamed stop! But out came even more.

Spiders crawling on top of spiders,
in my mouth, nose and ears,
their scary eyes staring into mine,
I was choking with utter fear.

I tried in vain to fight them off,
but my hand didn’t move a one.
I must have blacked out just then,
when I awoke they had all gone.

Things are becoming better now
and the spiders are getting less.
I’m told they’ll eventually go for good,
along with my shakes, thirst, and mess.

One Mans Ceiling Is Another Mans Floor

Words & music by paul simon
Theres been some hard feelings here
About some words that were said
Been some hard feelings here
And what is more
Theres been a bloody purple nose
And some bloody purple clothes
That were messing up the lobby floor
Its just apartment house rules
So all you partment fools
Remember: one mans ceiling is another mans floor!
One mans ceiling is another mans floor
Theres been some strange goins on
And some folks have come and gone
Like the elevator man dont work no more
I heard a racket in the hall
And I thought I heard a call
But I never opened up my door
Its just apartment house sense
Its like apartment rents
Remember: one mans ceiling is another mans floor!
One mans ceiling is another mans floor!
Theres an alley
In the back of my building
Where some people congregate in shame
I was walking with my dog
And the night was black with smog
When I thought I heard somebody
Call my name
Ah-- remember: one mans ceiling is another mans floor!
One mans ceiling is another mans floor!

A Choice

THE flood of utter change is loosed. A space
Is ours yet, for its coming to prepare.
Shall we build dams with cautious, clumsy care,
Or stand with idle hands and frightened face,
And so be whirled all broken from our place,
And perish with the dams we builded there?
Or shall we dig a broad, deep channel, where
Most fields may feel the flood's benign embrace?

Thus turned 'twill be a calm majestic flood
Of plenty, peace, and fertilising power,
Whose banks fresh flowers of love and joy shall deck.
Oppose it: at the inevitable hour,
Tumultuous, black with ruin, red with blood,
'Twill come--and you shall have no chance but wreck!

T4

between the divine law and
the laws of men

between the id and the superego
the wall and the other wall

between the floor and the
ceiling

between sin and forgiveness
between my flesh and my spirit

lies the secret of my sanity
and like civil law there shall always be compromises

plea bargaining, the golden mean of Aristotle
between right and wrong, there is something

that must make us alive
for the meantime that this journey is not over yet

between my left and right ear
we must listen so we can hear

between two words are the spaces
these are places of compromises

at the extremes of pure solidity
there lies this stupidity.

The Whale

in the night-rain
driven from the river
'cross the railway-tracks
at traffic-lights

came face to face
with the ghost of a whale
searching for his jaw-bone
one-time strapped to the ceiling of a pub

and in the time it takes
the lights from red to green
in his eyes
thought I'd seen much more

as down the hill to the sea
at the dock-wall
saw his tail-light dip and fade
as he dived
tarmac deep
into the dark streets

and the gutters overflowed
with the wake and wash he made

Three Flights Up

On the first floor On the first floor
On the first floor there's a young girl reeling
Her body's numb and without feeling
As illusions dance on the midnight ceiling
Now she's falling, now she's kneeling
It's almost like she's bowed in prayer
A savior she's about to bear
She screams for help, but no one's there
On the first floor
On the first floor people walk the halls
But none can hear her desperate calls
There is no sound beyond the walls
So to the telephone she crawls
She telephones her only friend
The one on whom she can depend
But the phone rings on without an end
Then rings no moreOn the first floor
There's a party on the second floor
And through the picture window you can see them all
They're laughing and they're dancing
Admiring the Renoir that's hanging on the wall
But in the master bedroom where the coats are piled high
A silent, saddened lady thinks of what it's like to die
And as she dwells on all the years she still has left to face
She wonders how she'll ever find someone to take his place
Then suddenly she's jarred by the ringing of the phone
Oh, why do you ring now, just when I want to be alone?
So she walks into the bathroom and drinks some water from a cup
But the telephone stops ringing just before she picks it up
My family was very poor
So I worked hard to be secure
I married one I had to wed
And not the one I loved instead
When I was young my blood ran wild
But we stayed married for the child
Now three flights up, I'm all alone
My wife is dead, my child is grown
My daughter leads a wayward life
She's been a failure as a wife
And though she lives just one floor down
She never calls or comes around
Step off the platform and onto the train
Look out your window and into the rain
Watch all the buildings that pass as you ride
And count all the stories that go on inside
And then ask yourself if it must be this way
Should walls and doors and plaster ceilings
Separate us from each others' feelings?

No Limits

One life - never been a riddle
Black nights - live it to the max
Its all extremely done
No way - to colonise the middle
Ride hard - desperadoes at your back
Under a blood red sun
In this world - up to us
We stand or we fall - yeah
We got no limits - no hideaway
We got no limits - live today
We got no limits - the way to stay
We got no limits - no limits all the way
Gear up - life is what we make it
Rock hard - shaft it to the top
Weve only just begun
Suns up - were gonna do some shakin
Break out - we give it all we got
Make way cause here we come
In this world we decide
To answer the call - yeah
We got no limits, ...
Power n riches n rank
Mean nothing at all
Render the game to the en
Once and for all - once and for all - yeah
We got no limits, ...
We got no limits - no hideaway
We got no limits - live today
We got no limits - the way to stay
We got no limits
Evrybody live the life

We Are Afraid To Ever Tell This Story

we are here upon a page of a book
like ears, marking a restful minute since the eyes are aching,

we are in this room of a space filled in the order of words
systematically placed by a careful writer whose reputation is respected by all
his colleagues at the university,

we are wary, aching ears, rough skinned faces,
drooping eyes, lousy hands, hanging feet,

the chairs at the other northeastern part of this room are restless
but cannot speak what they feel
and they cannot be stopped
as they start running towards the balcony jumping into the ground floor
of this very silent nook

the table starts an exhibition of a circus act
tumbles like an acrobat and shouts to the wall and the ceiling that it can fly
like a winged fish that no one has ever seen

the ceiling fan loosens its neck and falls to the ground screaming
the pillow cases escape from their pillows saying it is all over now
the carpet rolls upon itself like a man rolling its sleeves now ready for a fistful of bouts

it is midnight and the light bulbs are blinking like an ambulance
there is an emergency but everyone in the house is asleep
and must not be disturbed

we are afraid we are witness to this unruly behavior of things that should not
move or scream or tumble or run or jump or brag about some imagined wings

we are very silent and the following morning when they all wake up
we keep our mouth shut afraid that they will call us crazy

or if not, paranoid because the whole night we guarded the house
and never for once close our eyes and taste the sweetness of sound sleep

Boys Don't Cry

I would say i'm sorry
If i thought that it would change your mind
But i know that this time
I've said too much
Been too unkind
I try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try and
Laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
'cause boys don't cry
Boys don't cry
I would break down at your feet
And beg forgiveness
Plead with you
But i know that
It's too late
And now there's nothing i can do
So i try to laugh about it
Cover it all up with lies
I try to
Laugh about it
Hiding the tears in my eyes
'cause boys don't cry
I would tell you
That i loved you
If i thought that you would stay
But i know that it's no use
That you've already
Gone away
Misjudged your limits
Pushed you too far
Took you for granted
I thought that you needed me more
Now i would do most anything
To get you back by my side
But i just
Keep on laughing
Hiding the tears in my eyes
'cause boys don't cry
Boys don't cry
Boys don't cry

The Wet Blankets Of Childhood

he is tired
drowsy

in the middle
of this stage
he finds images of
melting
memories

same as the old metal
wall clock
dripping on the
wall

floors like
brown sugar mix
with the
carpet and the
shoes

you smell black
pepper
and steam rice
you see
scalding fish
skin
fins separating
like
locks of hair

the feeling is
liquid
flowing like
the usual
river
that you have
been picturing
since

childhood where
you can still
hear the
dissolving laughter
on that
early night earthen
bowl

when darkness is like
a cloak
finally covering
your eyes

neither hot
nor cold
until
you fall asleep

as pain
too
diffuses
like drops of
rain from
the ceiling
to your
bed

Can't afford the rhyme
Nevermind, someday maybe
Boy meets girl
And love, love is on it's way
Boy meets girl
Boy meets girl
Bang, feel a little love
Carino dime
Never mind, someday terry
Feel the pain
Hit, feel, rap, sweat
Why, feel the floor
Sweets for my way
Boy meets girl

Why, feel the floor
Sweets for my way

Feel the rhyme
Take the time
Go fighting to the top
Go number one
Stick a honeybun
Your mind begins to flop

Recall your dream
