The Second Poem
the woman wears a long gown
covering her toes
she veils her face and neck
there is no way that you can see
her veins
her back is covered with
fox hair
she wears gloves and her
mouth is covered with
silk cloth
she looks like a mummy
though fashionable in some sense
less the context of
death
get nearer she has a very
important matter to reveal

Fake Plastic Tree (acoustic Version)
A green plastic watering can
For a fake chinese rubber plant
In the fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
It wears her out, it wears her out
It wears her out, it wears her out
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
On girls in the eighties
But gravity always wins
And it wears him out, it wears him out
It wears him out, it wears him out
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
And it wears me out, it wears me out
It wears me out, it wears me out
And if I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted
All the time, all the time

In A Classy Cafe
They are two smart ladies, in a cafe, drinking tea,
Both chattering away so fast, and so very merrily,
They have obviously, to my mind, been friends for many years,
One of them is talking, the other one, she hears,
Then they change around, so it works the other way,
The talker listens hard, to what the other has to say.
One lady wears such a fashionable, stylish coat of red,
The second one has no coat at all, but what she wears instead
Is a very neat designer dress of a gentle pastel blue,
With a string of pearls around her neck, and pearl earrings too.
Such clear sophistication, they both elegantly display,
One with brown hair, shoulder length, one with short hair, grey,
A Mother and her Daughter, of that I have no doubt,
Just meeting here together, I know not what about,
But they seem to be very happy, and don't even notice us,
Watching so attentively. Oh! , Heck, now we've missed our bus!

Relics From The Past
We never thought they'd disappear
We took them all for granted
But now long gone, it seems quite clear
They've been permanently supplanted
Carbon paper, remember it?
It copied printed matter
Creating files in triplicate
It helped us save our data
Fashion concious men
Covered shoes with spatz
Fashionable women
Wore millinery hats
Cars with rumble-seats
In our driving apparatus
Were driven by elites
As a way of showing status
Since the Frigidaire's displaced it
The ice-box now seems crude
We've frigidly replaced it
As our way of cooling food
Fashionably in style
Oil-cloth covered floors
Now covered flooring tile
Is found on floors indoors
With wooden shafted clubs
Golf courses we abused
For golfing way-ward dubs
Now metal shafts are used
The list goes on and on
Of relics from the past
Looking back, they had their charm
It's sad some didn't last
Perhaps I'm too a relic
Passing through life's stage
Though presently idyllic
Not lasting past old age

Beautiful (2)
Black hair falls from her bun
As I lay my hands on her back
She tenses up just a little bit
Then relaxes as I come nearer
I push my hands deep into her back
As she smiles and looks just a little
To see me smiling back at her
I see her blush and turn back
I smell the perfume she wears
As my hands climbs through her hair
Burning passion reaping us both
As she grabs my hand from her neck
And puts it slowly into her hand
Then with a sigh I hold it in mine
This sweet love finer than wine
i can only call this but one very thing
Beautiful

Same Thing
What makes a man go crazy when a woman wears her dress so tight
What makes a man go crazy when a woman wears that ol' dress so tight
Must be the same ol' thing that make a tom cat fight all night
Now, why do all the big men try to run a big-legged woman down
Now, why do all the big men try to run a big ol' woman down
Must be the same ol' thing that makes a bulldog a huggling 'round
It's that ol' same thing, now tell me who's to blame
The whole world is fighting about that ol' same thing
What make you feel so good when your baby's in her evening gown
When your baby get a little bit of an evening gown
Must be that same ol' thing that makes a preacher lay his bible down
It's that ol' same thing, it's that ol' same thing

Beauty Has No Grammar
Egg shaped face, not moon like one,
Cropped hair, not a long plaited one,
Plain neck and face, not ornamented,
Tiny breasts, not surging ones,
And casual wears adorn modern girls.
Concept of beauty has no grammar.

His Actions Have Appalled Us All
The people have become enraged.
Look at their faces.
He promised us,
With his leadership...
He would attempt to walk on water.
But he asked us to be patient.
Since the task before him was tremendous.
And may require time to undertake!
'Excuse me!
He 'is' walking on water.'
With argyles?
When was the last time,
You saw anyone fashionable...
Wearing argyles?
'Yeah, but...'
But nothing!
No one wears argyles today.
Not a soul.
He's not Scottish!
What he needs to be,
Is impeached.
'What? '
That's right.
I-with an 'm'-P-E-A-with a C-H-E-D...
IMPEACHED.
We expect our leaders 'here' in the 'free' world,
To wear silk suits...
With BOSTONIANS!
But no! !
He speaks of 'CHANGE'.
He...
Has to wear short sleeve shirts.
Play basketball.
Be cool and stay goodlooking.
And...
Adorn his shoeless feet,
Exposing them covered...
In ARGYLE? ? ?
WHO does he think he is?
Charleston Heston?
AND Billy Dee Willaims?
His actions have appalled us all!

Darkness
Been spending so much time underground
I guess my eyes adjusted
To the lack of light
I got
Covered in darkness
Covered in darkness
Hibernating always waiting for something new
Happiness always endin'
In the blink of an eye
There was no one attending
No one attending
It doesn't really matter where it all began
All I know
I got covered in darkness
Covered in darkness
Ever wonder why I never really truly connect
Although my eyes are open
I can hold your gaze
But I am never connected
Never connected
I am famous for my generosity
They say I am the kindest
But it is easier to
Give than receive love
Give than receive love
It doesn't really matter where it all began
All I know
I was covered in darkness
Covered in darkness
Turning pages over
Run away to nowhere
And it's hard to take control
When your enemy's old and afraid of you
You'll discover that the monster you were running from
Is the monster in you
Better to hold on to love
Better to hold on to love
Change will come
It doesn't really matter where it all began
All I know
I was covered in darkness
Covered in darkness
It doesn't really matter where it all began
Cuz all I know
I was lost
I was lost
No, no
It doesn't really matter where it all began no no
All I know
I was lost
I feel lost
Lost
No...

Absent-Minded Rabbit
Take me into the forest and,
Show me an absent-minded rabbit who wears seven pairs of gloves;
Take me to the zoo and,
Show me an absent-minded rabbit who wears seven pairs of gloves;
This will sound like fun at bedtime but,
What kind of fundamental rights do i have on this earth?
For i have to defy nationality and culture boundaries for this love.
It is funny when you are not globally competitive,
But i have to listen to the lecturers at times;
And with seemingly irreconcilable differences,
For i have to show them my status.

And Death Washes Only Bones
And death washes only bones;
The mouth of death speaks oft of every tounge
Never his patience once lost is found in all your nature;
Death washes a bone and the astrologer hands two back,
So the moon when lined up, shines down on Venus asleep.
Time smiles on the heart beating and long of face therein,
death puts it back on the middle shelf prearanged.
And death washes only bones;
Deep valleys are filled with man's rich oil,
And covered over memories by death too often dredged.
Lined up end to end exposed again to harvest the tears of wait;
And death washes only bones and man who drinks so bold,
There being no truth and lies sown shut death eyes all bottoms.

Lover Lover Lover
I asked my father,
I said, father change my name.
The one Im using now its covered up
With fear and filth and cowardice and shame.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.
He said, I locked you in this body,
I meant it as a kind of trial.
You can use it for a weapon,
Or to make some woman smile.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.
Then let me start again, I cried,
Please let me start again,
I want a face thats fair this time,
I want a spirit that is calm.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.
I never never turned aside, he said,
I never walked away.
It was you who built the temple,
It was you who covered up my face.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.
And may the spirit of this song,
May it rise up pure and free.
May it be a shield for you,
A shield against the enemy.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me,
Yes and lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover, lover come back to me.

Little Man Syndrome
He is though a very short man
To the world he must always prove himself
Tired of woman laughing when he walks by
And hates it when children calls him an elf.
When other man talks he always shouts
When other men walks he has to run
As though his disease his known to himself
As what he has is the little man syndrome.
So he goes out and buys himself a bike
And then buys a pair of high heel boots
He wants people to think he is truly a man
He even sometimes wears a small boys suit.
He has a short temper as he is a short man
Some times he tries to tell others want to do
But he gets ignored which is quite common
To the world his existence he must always prove.
He drinks and smokes to make himself feel tall
Must lie and steal at what other men do own
Always has seconds to what other other men had first
In the world of man he is always alone.
When he walks he must walk on his toes
Sadly he is shorter than all man and all child
And when he's with a woman she hunches her back
So she can help him feel tall every once in a while.
When others get taller he grows not at all
He is the same size as when he was a child
So the very little man has little small hands
And everything or one he touches he will defile.
He thinks he is tough but that is an act
As he cowers to everyone that he will meet
He will run and hide and cant fight his own fight
As a man he isn't he cant stand on his own two feet.
When he take his picture he stands on a chair
While all others will sit as he must always stand
But no matter what he does or what he wears
Everyone know the syndrome of the little man.

Dangerous Veils
Desert candle in a tented space
Throwing softer shadows on a covered face.
Sister, silent to the likes of me --
Pay my respects to her propriety.
Is this some crazy woman here,
Dancing behind her thin black veil?
Am I misreading those mysterious eyes?
Duet impossible to harmonize.
Im not inviting any stiff reaction.
Im not one for naming holy names.
And I wont peek behind those dangerous veils.
Though you might hate me just the same.
Name of the father ringing in her head --
Thinking over what the prophet said.
Words and tradition bind her in their spell.
Dont drink the water from this holy well.
Im not inviting any fierce reaction
And Im not one for naming holy names.
I wont peek behind those dangerous veils.
Though you might hate me just the same.
Desert candle in a tented space
Softer shadows on a covered face.
Sister, silent to the likes of me --
I tip my hat to her propriety.
Im not inviting any fierce reaction
And Im not one for naming holy names.
I wont peek behind those dangerous veils.
Though you might hate me just the same.
