The Clown And Dracula....

welcome both
the black and white birds
often they come
uninvited perching upon
a tree that
fronts your house

meanwhile the stairs
that lead to the road
to the city waits for the
sounds of your
footsteps....

The Mocking Bird On The Tree Fronting The House...

a mocking bird
sits on a branch of a tree
that fronts the house that
papa made

papa is gone.

a mocking bird left but one
sunny day

after the heavy rains for months
the mocking bird comes back

it is bringing silence
unlike all the other mocking birds
in town

the mocking bird is dead
a boy abandoned by his mother
stoned it

now the window if you walk a little
distant from the house
and sit on a bench across the road
looks like a Cheshire cat
giving Alice that fable smile.

That Stairs That Must Lead Us Home...

building those stairs
that lead to the gates of the
heavens
in the skies?

how funny can that be
if not
impossible

what about the simplest stairs
that lead us to the
living room of
the house that we may call
as home?

House Of Stairs I

A woman is
A house
With many exits
And stairs
Some they lead
Somewhere,
Other leads no where.

And you
Lady,
You are a house
Dry and dark,
Your house does not
Need neither exits
Nor down or up
Horizontal,
Vertical,
Waving, or
Flying
Stairs

Following In Your Footsteps

(ian hunter/mick ronson)
Some folk leave courage,
Some folk leave you hope
Why am I out here hangin
Like a fool at the end o my rope
Some folk leave you wisdom,
Some folk leave you signs
You can never be sure
What went on before
Life is just a matter of time
Picture of you,
Clouding my view
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to make some sense of it all
Maybe its a sign of weakness,
But thats where my footsteps fall
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to hang on to your dreams
You never got what you wanted
So I never got what I need
Im following in your footsteps,
cos thats where the footsteps lead
Someone must have given me anger,
Someone must have given me hate
Or why would I stand here shakin,
When theres so many chances to take
Pictures of you,
Climb into view
Im following in your footsteps,
Tryin to make some sense of it all
Maybe its a sign of weakness,
But thats where my footsteps fall
Im following in your footsteps,
Watchin my children grow
Theyre following in my footsteps
Takin it on the road
Were following in your footsteps
cos thats where the footsteps go
Were following in your footsteps, yeah
cos thats where your footsteps go

Born Again

Your soul awake
beneath flowers white,
leaves gleam
in spring daylight

Birds in glee
flap their wings,
on the oak tree
the cuckoo sings

In grass green
violets bloom,
lifting my sorrow
and deep gloom

As I walk on the road
rough and steep,
your footsteps follow
I no more weep

A Mountain Trek

summer is idle, as an African tulip falls
gently on the hillside
the place is quite overlooking an old city
the mountains are brown and empty
at night the moon comes out
a gun bursts sometimes and startles the black birds
on the tree alone beside the long
winding river of Bulawan
the black birds scream calling all
the deep ravines.

Now Going Back To A Little Seriousness About Life

i have give you a list of games
a to z, back to z then a, and you gape at me
unable to believe,
finding it so hard to believe that in the middle of the city
during a blackout i can be
another black dog with eyes gleaming like
a pen light roaming around
a black canvass inside the movie house
where each hungry city dweller is looking for
something to hold
to eat and puke.

now going back to where we once were,
we never made us
they made us to do things that we do not really do
the way we did it,
we are constrained to escape from the doorsteps
of restraint,
and be free birds, white
in visions, twittering on sky blue skies

now going back to what we are....
where are we really?

i am serious. Are we not lost?
in the middle of this darkness where we think we are no longer stars

Social Chickens

i wonder why the
white and red chickens
escape from their
house

tonight they roost upon
the branch of an old
tree
so high that they can
see
above our fence
the road

the red and white chickens
too of my other
neighbor's yard
roosting on the other tree

The Monument Of All Our Wrongs

i build a house
no one likes it.

the house is empty
i put some chairs.

someone comes and
says, this house is

lonely, it needs
a sound

it is boring and needs
a paint

i put a tree beside
its stairs

i grow another
fence

i put a lone bulb
on a post

and leave the house
for good

that is what the
house is made

there is always
missing

something is
always wrong

this is the house
of regret

it is the monument
of all our wrongs.

When Man Writes His Life Away

when sadness comes like
an uninvited guests
and when it stays longer
than you can
have it

just be silent

for silence are like seeds
that sprout on the little rains of
your patience
to grow the flowers of hope

when man writes his life away
overwhelmed by so much sorrow
God steps by the door
waits for you
to open it and then when this is done
God embraces you

the sun shines by the window of your house
the birds chirp again on the surrounding trees
the clouds of baby blue
cover the grasses as green as the pines
scented as perfumes
of your love

Cremation - Ashes To Ashes

Well the coal-black sea waits for me-me-me
The coal-black sea waits forever
The waves hit the shore, crying more-more-more
But the coal-black sea waits forever
The tornados come up the coast they run
Hurricanes rip the sky forever
Through the weathers change, the sea remains the same
The coal-black sea waits forever
There are ashes split through collective guilt
People rest at sea forever
Since they burnt you up, collect you in a cup
For you the coal-black sea has no terror
Will your ashes float like some foreign boat
Or will they sink absorbed forever
Will the atlantic coast, have its final boast
Nothing else contained you ever
Now the coal-black sea waits for me-me-me
The coal-black sea waits forever
When I leave this joint at some further point
The same coal-black sea will it be waiting

A Certain Preference On Early Mornings...

sometimes forgive me
but i do not like to hear bird chirping by my window
on early mornings for honestly i prefer
the silent sounds of the wind
from the sea,

and so when i hear those chirping birds
perching on the tree
those still feeding their fledgelings
i exercise that right of having to close my
glass windows
preferring once again
the privacy of my room and the exclusion of the
outside world
by the curtains and then i begin to sip my coffee
reading a poem
listening to the words seeping like rain to the
hair of my own soul.....

the sounds of my day

it is four o' clock in the morning

this computers hums the loudest
the dogs howl on the road seeing strangers pass that early
i can hear the winds of dawn break
the engine of the bus
on the highway going to faraway Zambezi
the first trip i suppose

the clock is ticking
the door is clicking

some footsteps
on the road going away from me

they are all
sounds of departure

The Wrong House

I went into a house, and it wasn't a house,
It has big steps and a great big hall;
But it hasn't got a garden,
A garden,
A garden,
It isn't like a house at all.

I went into a house, and it wasn't a house,
It has a big garden and great high wall;
But it hasn't got a may-tree,
A may-tree,
A may-tree,
It isn't like a house at all.

I went into a house, and it wasn't a house -
Slow white petals from the may-tree fall;
But it hasn't got a blackbird,
A blackbird,
A blackbird,
It isn't like a house at all.

I went into a house, and I thought it was a house,
I could hear from the may-tree the blackbird call…
But nobody listened to it,
Nobody
Liked it,
Nobody wanted it at all.

Slipping through the city sliding train to train
Sulking on the subway music in our brain
She and me together in the city sounds
Me and mona lisa on the underground
Hi-fi in the white city yeah yeah

Slipping through the city sliding brain to brain
Sulking on the subway listening to the train
She and me together speed through space and time
Grafitti in our eyes and music in our mind

Nature's Call

A bluebird is perching
Upon the fence,
Just beyond it
Is a forest, dense.

Squirrels are chasing
Each other,
Scampering and racing
With much luster.

A stream is slowly running
Past.

I draw some out,
And water the plants.

All is growing wild...

Wild is the cat,
And so is the bear.

Wild is the honey,
And so is the fish.

Wild is the bat,
And so is the hare.

Wild is the bee,
And so is the tree.

Wild is everything
That you can see.

A scream from the cat,
A roar from the bear.

Silence honey,
And splash from fish.

The screech of the bat,
The thump of the hare,
Buzz of the bee,
The sweet rustle of the tree.

Many sounds,
Made by one
And all-

Thes are the sounds,
Nature's call.

Down This Road

(Michael Dulaney/Michael Lunn)
Down this road there's an old brick house
My mama cried the day that I moved out
And my first summer job was pumpin' gas and fixin' flats
But at Henry Walker's Texaco
Down this road, down this road
Down this road there's a maple tree
In a cotton field where Jenny first kissed me
And I can still remember the night she said good-bye
I stood there like a fool and watched her go
Down this road, down this road
And it goes on forever
And it goes by too fast
It'll take you anywhere you want to go
And every memory will bring you back
Down this road there's a small white church
Daddy lived his life by the preacher's word
He raised me right, I could always feel his love
Even when the angels called him home
Down this road
And it goes on forever
And it goes by too fast
It'll take you anywhere you want to go
And every memory will bring you back
Down this road
Down this road
Down this road

Footsteps

Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Whenever trouble comes around
Or lonely nights lead underground
And far in the dark
Abandoned cars suddenly start up
An anxious sound
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
When loneliness induces fear
Like waves against a
Ramshackle pier
When thunder and rain
Scar the windowpane once again
I want you near
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Im longing to see you
I want you, I need you
Like a child who feels afraid
Of the dark at night
Hoping to hear a gentle touch
Turning on a welcome light
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
As long as I hear your footsteps
In the dark thats all I need
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
Footsteps in the dark
Only love will break your heart
Footsteps, footsteps
