That Naked Birthday Cake
the best hour to think
is this
3 o'clock
when it is still dark
when finally dusk breaks
the famed virginity of
a morning
light
it is the perfect
time when your mind
is like glass
with frost
and you write your pains in bold letters
using your index finger
no one reads it
and then the mist outside
as it is still very cold
covers all the letters again
the way you like
the icing so sweet that your dear mother
once put
on your naked birthday cake

The Wicked Postman
Why do you sit there on the floor so quiet and silent, tell me,
mother dear?
The rain is coming in through the open window, making you all
wet, and you don't mind it.
Do you hear the gong striking four? It is time for my brother
to come home from school.
What has happened to you that you look so strange?
Haven't you got a letter from father today?
I saw the postman bringing letters in his bag for almost
everybody in the town.
Only father's letters he keeps to read himself. I am sure the
postman is a wicked man.
But don't be unhappy about that, mother dear.
Tomorrow is market day in the next village. You ask your maid
to buy some pens and papers.
I myself will write all father's letters; you will not find
a single mistake.
I shall write from A right up to K.
But, mother, why do you smile?
You don't believe that I can write as nicely as father does!
But I shall rule my paper carefully, and write all the letters
beautifully big.
When I finish my writing do you think I shall be so foolish
as father and drop it into the horrid postman's bag?
I shall bring it to you myself without waiting, and letter by
letter help you to read my writing.
I know the postman does not like to give you the really nice
letters.

Red Letters
Red letters
Cut deep
Soothe the pain inside.
Red letters
Bold and loud
Scream silently.
Red letters
Secret and hidden
But a cry for help.
Red letters -
A way to deal with this pain.
As I cut these words into my skin
I remember seeing red words somewhere before
Then it hits me like a lightning bolt -
Words of Jesus are printed in red. Words of Christ in red.
Red letters
Real truth, piercing deep
Soothes my pain inside.
Red letters
Your passion, Your blood
Covers me.
Red letters
Hope and life
I cry, 'Fill me! '
Red letters -
You were pierced and bloody
So I wouldn't have to be.
'What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
Oh! precious is the flow that makes me white as snow!
No other fount I know -
Nothing but the blood of Jesus! '
Red letters... Nothing but the blood -
Red letters... Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

An Autumn Letter
I want to write a letter to someone in the autumn
In the Autumn, I see lonely fountain streamed from a deep valley
And want to wet the lonely heart
I write a letter in the autumn night but knowing that cannot be sent in the morning
Now there is a postman who delivers letters in the air in the days and nights
So I am sending letters
I regret but the unsent letters always cry
I send the thread tied letters in the air without stamps
The letters of the poet opens its eyes with holding their breaths

Does Your Mother Know
Does your mother know
You had to go someday
Does your mother know
That you would go so fast
Anyway, thats all you think about
Youd call her if you could
But the letters that you write
In the faded winter light
Just tell her they tell her
That youve got ten dollars and youll be all right
And when you get straight youre gonna come back east some day
Does your mother know
You have a man in the west
Does your mother know
You drove him from your door
Anyway thats all you think about
Youd call her if you could
Does your mother know
You walked all day in the rain
Does your mother know
How deep your love could be
Anyway thats all you think about
Youd call her if you could
But the letters that you write
In the faded winter light
Just tell her they tell her
That youve got ten dollars and your rent costs eight
And when you get straight youre gonna come back east some day
But the letters that you write in the faded winter light
Just tell her they tell her

Zero One Slash Seventeen Slash Zero Nine
he does not like to use numbers
and so all his numbers are letters
and all his thoughts in numbers
are written in letters including the
date when his poem is written
making it the very title of the same
and all his emotions are in letters
even though he knows that each
feeling has a corresponding number
and even the colors are numbered
in letters. Blue is the number four.
Nine is class. Forty-seven is pride.
ninety-nine is not perfect and
one hundred is too much for an
old aging man like him who likes
to arrive at zero and then enjoy
his much needed rest. He likes to
be happy and wants to sleep, so he
begins to write, one, two, three, four,
five, six.... and so on and so forth.
autistic savant, they all call him.

Letters Never Sent
(carly simon/jacob brackman)
In a suitcase tied with string
On the highest shelf
In the closet down the hall
Hidden from myself
Fits of madness, pools of grief
Fevers of desire
How peculiar these remain
Slavaged from the fire
For some I crumpled some I burned
Some I tore to shreds
Lifetimes later, here they are
Ones I saved instead
Letters never sent to you
Letters never sent
Never reached their destination
Mostly born of pain
Resurfaced with the purpose of
A trip down memory lane
Broken hearted, breaking hearts
All the way it went
Evidence of what I saw
My experiments
Lifes a riddle, lifes a dream
Lifes an accident
Now Im gonna set them free
Letters never sent
Letters never sent to you
Letters never sent
Once upon a time taboo
Letters never sent
Letters never sent to you
Letters never sent
Incongruous, and overdue
Letters never sent

Meka had a toy camera
Meka had a toy camera,
presented by her Mummy Manjula
for her birthday;
While she was viewing through it,
She could see a few animals in it;
She showed it to me with enthusiasm,
I saw it with hilarious amusement;
While I see inside for the first time,
I asked her like a quiz whether she can guess;
I am seeing an animal with four letters,
Can you tell me what I see here?
She said, 'Is it a squirrel?
No, squirrel has eight letters,
tell me the animal you see real;
Is it tiger? but it has five letters,
Is it giraffe? but it has seven letters,
Tell me grandpa, what do you see?
I said, 'I can see a bear'!
Now she responded shrewdly,
If you click the camera several time,
You see a different animal every-time,
Squirrel, Tiger, Giraffe and Bear.

Landscape #2
4 o 'clock in the morning
dusk retreating and morning light advancing
a boat floating ashore
the wind is timid and the sand is still a very clean slate
you look behind you
you find your own steps
you think someone is chasing you
and you walk that fast enough
afraid to be finally caught
by your own fears
you stop to find out if the mountain moves with you
the sea taunts you
alone and weary and so poetic at this time of the day
the wind whispers to your devotion: who reads you somehow?
who cares? who loves you?
someday? sometime? the sand is still a clean slate
you are not this kind of man who gets easily intimidated by this void
you sit on the shore and then you begin to write the initials of your name
someone loves you and you know
it begins foremost with you

Love Letters
I have a bunch of
Love letters
That express just how he feels
Every word every line
Are memorized in my mind
He tells of how he misses
Sweet moments yet to be
So that we can build a future
Just for you and me
His heart so warm
His love so grand
Sends shivers down my spine
I blush at tender moments
That only we two can share
The ecstasy of love
I write my declaration of love
In those letters from my heart

Keep us so near while apart
I'm not alone in the night

A Little Discomfort
there is a little pain
that goes on and on
and on,
a prick at the finger
tip, a pressure on the
toe, something steps
at you,
an idea
a discomfort of your
mind,
you write it
it rebels
the description is
short of what it
really is
and this is always
everyday
at dawn you wake
up
some luminous
letters are dancing
above your
head
glowing like
fireflies
tumbling and
whirling and
staring
at times
you write about it
again
but they melt
like your
dreams
on the floor
there is nothing
left
some dusts you
breathe
from the
dark carpet

Letters Or Feathers?
A letter has run into feathers,
The old image of letters are words;
Keep the frock of letters a secret,
How delightful a clean person this is!
Letters are dear to the touch,
Few will discover a grassy bank,
In wrapped water, water all white,
Leaving fishes to the taste,
Feathers are scales this time.
My head chattered from time to time,
Leaving the dear person in a landing.
Let the river seek a blunt instrument
Called rocks, a fully able object,
Worrying is all it contains.

Letter To Heather
I am writing you these letters
to let you know that I miss you
I think of you all of the time
And I wonder how you're doing
Have you been thinking about me
As much as I have been of you
Or have you found a lover
In the time I've been away
If so I can understand
Why you have forgotten me
I have not forgotten you
Nor do I think that I could
I've written you love letters
And one day I'll mail them too
I hope that day arrives soon
Because I really miss you
I'll try to write more later
But for now I have to go
Just remember I love you
As much today as ever
If not as much even more
Did you get the letters that I
sent to you my love
Love Always
Just Alpha

Oh Happy Birthday, Happy Birhday
I want to wish you a Happy Birthday
It was the day that you were born
Birthday oh Happy Birthday is the day.
Come see all the presents on the table
There is also a cake with many candles
It is a lucky day for all that are able.
Happy, Happy Birthday my good friend
It is a span that comes only once a year
Enjoy the moment till it comes to an end.
You see the lights are still fiery on the cake
There waiting for you to blow them out
Please will you do your part and stay awake
No tears please not allowed on this occasion
I know age grows older on this event
Why I don’t know, time doesn’t go on vacation
So happy salutes to you on your moment
Cherish the time it will never return
Celebrate, give, smile and try to be consent.
The lights are finally out on your cake,
And all the gifts were ripped open
All seemed to end in a sudden break.
Happy Birthday and hope you enjoyed the day
No more presents and no more wishes
Now one has to grow and see what comes this way.

After A While...
when he was about to
leave me
for good, (that is what is usually
said)
he told me
Be not proud
for you too
shall have a share of those pains
just like the rest
and it is only when every
flesh of your body
gets numb
(i.e. it is too familiar
with pain that
it does not react anymore
to any
stimuli)
that you finally get
that reward
of what you have always sought
that
eternal peace
(i.e. it is not that the mind
becomes blank
like the closure of the windows
of the day
where you are led
into a dark room where you have
no choice but
sleep
forever,
no, no, no
it is not
it is never meant that way
it is this
you sleep
you are too tired
for almost everything
you do not remember
what happened
you wake up
light touches your face
plays with your
eyelids
you rise
again
a whisper leads you to
the door that opens
into a garden
it is such a beautiful garden
flowers that you have first seen
scents that you have never smelled before
there are sounds of
chirping birds
blue clouds
clear skies
a peaceful path
that takes you
to new friends
yes, my dear,
you are into another new beginning
you write again
those new letters upon a new language
that surprises you
with a higher
level of
understanding
yes, it is the wisdom
that faces you
upon a first
meeting.

Dreaming About A Heavy Rain And Then Waking Up At 3 A.m.
I can tell the details of the sequence
You dream that there was this heavy
Downpour of rain somewhere in crowded
Mong Kok, Hongkong and you ran
For shelter and then stay put and
Begin to use the power of this deep
Silence of a river running within the
Intricate linings of your veins.
You are in the middle of a strange crowd.
You keep looking where you come from
And you finally come to the conclusion
That you are not lost
You dream of a heavy downpour
And you like being wet together
With those that continue to walk.
You wake up so early you want to
Say something and yet she is too tired
Of you and she says
She still wants to get more sleep.
You get out of bed and look over the
Glass window. It is dark and the street
Is empty. You turn on the light on the
Table creating a small island where
In the middle of the light you put
Your mind like a stranger talking
About something that you like to
Understand for once and you do not really like it.
This is where you first decide to write.
This was the beginning of it all and it is still here
With you.
Back to square one. Back to the first syllable.
Back to yourself. The letters of the keyboard
Are as warm as you first once
A long time ago, pressed the vowels.

Beneath a morning mist
Beneath a morning mist
~
A morning mist hides
the potential of a beautiful sky
low cloud covers streets and roads
the moist dew of the air
cold against the skin
a freshness to the lungs
welcomed regardless
eyes look into the nothingness
eagerly anticipating the sun
to break through its light
and warm the gardens
meanwhile the mist is silent
quietly haunting all
this is just a day beginning
lets pray its beautiful

Love Letters
She held a pack of love letters tied with ribbons and bows.
these were the love letters that she would never show.
Every one of them was dated first to last
These were the letters that held a life past.
Times may pass and things may change
But memories stay the same.
The writing of love letters had slowly disappeared
But she held on to them from year to year.
She sat with the letters in her lap.
As the tears rolled down her eyes
He had said he would be with her
Till the day he died
And fifty years later
He met his maker
And was carried to the cemetery
by the undertaker.
The letters had been written
with tenderness and love
Proclaiming every thing
Even the stars above.
He said life was meaningless if with her
His life he could not share.
And losing her was something
he could not bear.
Now that he was gone and she
Was left all alone.
The house didn’t seem
like much of a home.
She knew her children would not understand
Why she held the love letters in her hand.
These were the memories that kept her alive
And on that she couldn’t deny.
But her mind and body was fading fast
And she knew she could not last.
So to her children she bequeathed
The letters that she cherished all her life
For that was her husband, and she was his wife.
These are the love letters that your father
Wrote to me when we were young and carefree.
He told me of all that life had to offer.
And of all the love he had for me
And that he wanted to raise a family.
When you read his letters you will know
Why I loved this man so.
And now it’s time for me to go.
Because your father awaits me on the other side
And we’ll be together for all of time

Mother Nature
I want her so bad
Mother Nature has a hold on me
I want her so bad
Mother Nature won't you let me be untied?
'Cause it hurts my pride
To be tossed off like the morning covers
And crossed off, like her other lovers
Casually
I see her walking by my window- mhmmhmmhmmhmm!
It seems to me I know her well.
But like the flowers in the spring-time,
Growing toward the sunshine,
Her beauty falls upon me in a fragrant spring-time spell
And I want her so ba-aa-aad
Mother Nature has a HOLD on me
I want her so bad
Mother Nature won't you let me be untied?
'Cause it hurts my pride
To be tossed off like the morning covers
And crossed off, like her other lovers
Casually
Is she an icy winter woman? Mm-hhmm!
That chills my body when she's near
Sweet fever in the morning...
I don't know if I'll survive.
She walks by me as though she didn't
Know I was alive
And I want her so ba-aa-aad
Mother Nature has a hold on me
I want her so bad
Mother Nature won't you let me be untied?
'Cause it hurts my pride
To be tossed off like the morning covers
And crossed off, like her other lovers
Tossed off like the morning covers,
Crossed off, like her other lovers...
Tossed off like the morning covers,
Crossed off, like her other lovers...
