my friends at PH
we must be hope
and excellence
we are both
compassion
and valor
easily we can get badness
in quantity
the road is wide and smooth
and popular
lying close by
in our houses
in front of excellence
the gods have put
sweat, and a long
and narrow road
steep and
obstructed
we shall be the yardsticks
of quality
we now get used
to this environment where
excellence and
refinement are at
most expected.

Badness you can get easily, in quantity; the road is smooth, and it lies close by, But in front of excellence the immortal gods have put sweat, and long and steep is the way to it.
Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning.
Consistent Excellence
Go...
Ask anyone of your neighbors,
How difficult it is...
To produce consistent excellence.
With a doing done you do,
To ensure your life...
Is lived to make sense.
With the best from yourself,
To show those your excellence...
Is not some luck that has been sent.
Your excellence is what is meant.
Go...
Ask anyone of your neighbors,
And when you are done...
Ask your friends and family too,
If consistent excellence with a bit of sweat...
Is something done you know they do,
For themselves.
And nothing from them to you to prove.

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but we rather have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
But, I don't want to assume that our tradition of excellence is a guarantee of future excellence.

To fight and conquer in all our battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

The secret of living a life of excellence is merely a matter of thinking thoughts of excellence. Really, it's a matter of programming our minds with the kind of information that will set us free.

I mentioned the non-competitive spirit explicitly, because these days, excellence is a fashionable concept. But excellence is a competitive notion, and that is not what we are heading for: we are heading for perfection.

Spirit
She looked at me and did the bosa nova
I smiled at her and then just walked away
Then the lights came on and it was over
To my surprise, she wasnt a girl at all
So I packed it up and took to a rock show...
Where you can feel the pulse getting stronger
& you can only hear the beat for so long
I asked if there was any way to stop it
No, he said, just smile and act as if...
You worship the very ground on which they walk on...
No way
A temporary absence of gesture
A hidden meaning known to everyone
A slight misconception of leizure
Dont see how that could hurt anyone...i know...but
Spirit, excellence, further down the road,
These are the tools youll need further down the road.
So lets pack it up and take it somewhere special...
From a quintessential, existential nightmare
To a sanctuary waiting in the sun
