The Memory Of Love
The memory of love can never die.
It lingers in the heart.
It may have happened way in your past
but you remember how it did start.
Whether it lasted or came to an end
it still is the memory that counts.
It made an impression.
It was an expression.
It became a possession for you.
You will never forget it. It lingers on
and becomes part of who you are.
For the memory of love is a gift to you
so keep it close, never far.

I love my daughter: but
I know, I know the exact word
I use it very frequently.
Then suddenly, it’s quite absurd.
I cannot trust my memory.
I’ve always trusted it before
and it has never let me down.
But that’s is not true anymore
and forms a reason for my frown.
My daughter says it just might be
because I’m getting on a bit.
I cannot possibly agree.
I’m aghast at the cheek of it.
I’m not old just eighty three.
I do not doubt that I will be
the first one of my family
to reach my own centenary.
What does it matter I forget
some little things occasionally
I know what’s getting me upset
Her lack of sensitivity.
The word will come if I just wait
That is a racing certainty
But I do not appreciate
a recaltricant memory.
There must be something I can do,
to stimulate my memory.
I think I’ll take up something new
Some thing active probably.
I may be old but I’m still fit
to think and act competently
My daughter talks a load of bull
I won’t forgive her easily.

Near The Edge
We stand near the edge
of the abyss of our eternity.
As all the faces, we have known
flicker by like a silent movie.
In a few brief moments
we pass through all our right and wrongs
and as quick as they came

Once upon my nocturne sorrow,
As I delineate the morrow,
Of a dream, flourishing in might,
To fizzle in the morning light,
Such when the waves swept me ocean,
Of glum, beneath skies, cerulean,
As my memory holds serene,
The fairest woodland nymph, Shyrene;
As queer apparition, wandered,
Seems my sanity, it squandered,
When gayly danced on my window,
A pallid dew and a rainbow,
Through the night, and half my bottle,
All my memories they scuttle,

When The Words Dance, The Stars Shine
someday, i’ll make the words dance to tell us everything that happened
every moment we’ve shared. every memory we’ve woven together
someday i’ll write about us
someday – when everything has been forgotten
and there’s no way for us to remember any word
of that childish compromise we once had
it’ll be just a memory of two people who once loved each other

Raptures Of The Moon
I stand alone on a hillside
wishing I were standing with another.
Shooting stars flicker across the sky
sometimes looking as if they are dancing
as they skip across the heavens
showing off their display to the moon.
I stand and watch the cavalcade
enthralled by the raptures of the moon.
The twinkling of the city lights below
enhance the wonderful scene
as I stood alone on the hillside
enchanted by the raptures of the moon.
When dawn again breaks,
all this will fade away
and I will only be left with a memory
of what was a dream.
Until the next time

Everyday I wake up to your picture.
Open up my eyes and theres still you.
In the very corner I first placed you,
The very same expression
That lights up all of my room.
Though the colors maybe somewhat faded,
The smile has almost vanished from your face.
As you disappear I reinvent you,
From my imagination
Youll never be erased.
Theres no way to bargain with the future.
In the end there are no guarantees, oh no.
Even if youre gone Ill always find you,
Right here where I left you,
Smiling back at me.
Every star has a season, a moment, a reason to be.
We may watch with regret as they flicker then die,
But at least for one second we bathed in the light
Of their passing, the memory still lasting.
Through the years and the distance your image remains,
