Mark Lloyd
my brother wants to
repeat history
i shudder to this malignant idea
but i let him
go back
perhaps he can learn
much better
now that he is
too old
to know the tricks
mark Lloyd is going to be
Fink
and there will be loud banging
and more failings
but his dad cannot hear them
as usual the silent screams
are more found in the
screen
and it is always away from
the hell of
any home
fake home
where mother is queen and dad is king
and where everyone
are but subjects
and numb
ers.
i've seen Fink move away
his face is square
but there are crooked lines
everywhere
tiny volcanoes on his face
which my
erupt soon
and cause
the flow of magma
in the comfort room
i warned his mom
but her face is a highway without any
interiors
for the meantime
there are no cars
colliding
soon, i expect something bizarre
it is Fink markig Lloyd
bloody on the street
holding a gun
filling the city with smoke.

Running In The Family
Our dad
Would send us to our room
Hed be the voice of doom
He said that we would thank him later
All day
He was solid as a rock
But by eight oclock
Wed be crumbling
One night
My brother joe and me
Climbed down the family tree
That grew outside our bedroom window
We ran
Though we knew it couldnt last
Running from the past
From things that we were born to be
Looking back its so bizarre
It runs in the family
All the things we are
On the back seat of the car
With joseph and emily
We only see so far
- and we all have our daddys eyes
Looking back its so bizarre
Dad rang
The officer in charge
A man so large
He barely fit his circumstances
He said
Two kids out on the street
Were picked up on the beat
And in the station
So theres me
With emily and joe
Daddy driving home
All heading in the same direction
He knew
No matter what the breaks
Wed make the same mistakes
Couldnt take his eyes of joe and me
Looking back its so bizarre
It runs in the family
All the things we are
On the backseat of the car
With joseph and emily
We only see so far
- and we all have our daddys eyes
Looking back its so bizarre
It runs in the family
All the things we are
Looking back its so bizarre
Like a dream within a dream
Were all somewhere in between
Like a drummer plays his drum
Like a father like a son
- and your gonna have to face the music
- face the music
Hey hey
We keep it running in the family
Hey hey
We keep it coming in the family
Looking back its so bizarre
It runs in the family
All the things we are
On the backseat of the car
With joseph and emily
We only see so far
- cause we all have our daddys eyes
Take me back into your arms
Its no longer a mystery
No cause for alarm
Could have never come this far
With no sense of history
It always leaves a scar
- and we all have our daddys eyes
Looking back its so bizarre
Running in the family
Hey, hey!

Flowers - Giving It All Away B-side
Renegades and shifting shades
And the lights in your face
And you friends talk lying
But some of them got flowers in their room
When its on and youre falling on every floor
That youre hoping to score
And youre every night ? ? ?
But some of them got flowers in their room
But some of them got flowers in their room
But some of them got flowers in their room
Hear the word that the man on the stairs
Knows your every affair and is holding your hand
And he says some of them got flowers in their room
And he screams in a face
But the smile on the face is cool and its cold
And it reads vacated
And some of them got flowers in their room
And some of them got flowers in their room
And some of them got flowers in their room
And I take someone home and I cant be alone
And theres faces to please and I walk on the knees
Oh you see, I got no flowers in my room
And I laugh with my mouth and I laugh with you
But the joke was a joke that I never really knew
Some of them got flowers in their room
Some of them got flowers in their room
Some of them got flowers in their room

Appreciation
MY muvver's ist the nicest one
'At ever lived wiz folks;
She lets you have ze mostes' fun,
An' laffs at all your jokes.
I got a ol' maid auntie, too,
The worst you ever saw;
Her eyes ist bore you through and through, —
She ain't a bit like ma.
She's ist as slim as slim can be,
An' when you want to slide
Down on ze balusters, w'y she
Says 'at she's harrified.
She ain't as nice as Uncle Ben,
What says 'at little boys
Won't never grow to be big men
Unless they're fond of noise.
But muvver's nicer zan 'em all,
She calls you, 'precious lamb,'
An' let's you roll your ten-pin ball,
An' spreads your bread wiz jam.
An' when you're bad, she ist looks sad,
You fink she's goin' to cry;
An' when she don't you're awful glad,
An' den you're good, Oh, my!
At night, she takes ze softest hand,
An' lays it on your head,
An' says 'Be off to Sleepy-Land
By way o' trundle-bed.'
So when you fink what muvver knows
An' aunts an' uncle tan't,
It skeers a feller; ist suppose
His muvver 'd been a aunt.

The Patron Saint Of Liars And Fakes
I'm holding out and I'm holding on to every letter and every song
I pulled myself out of the day we ever had to meet
Are you through with me?
So
And when it all goes to hell
Will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face
And when it all goes to hell
Will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face
I'm all ears and I'm all scars to hear you tell me
"Boys like you, you try too hard to look not quite as desperate."
Well I'm hanging on
But I still know the way to make your makeup run
So
And when it all goes to hell
Will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face
And when it all goes to hell
Will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face
And when it all goes to hell
Will you be able to tell me sorry with a straight face
And when it all goes to hell (take this to your grave )
Will you be able to tell (Ill take it to mine) me sorry with a straight face
And when it all goes to hell
And when it all goes to hell
And when it all goes to hell
And when it all goes

That Austen Guy.
Here's your fare
for the bus to school
your mother said
but some days you walked
and spent the money
on doughnuts at the bakery
on the way to school
and you felt them warm
through the white paper bag
the baker had put them in
and you ate them on the way
then licked your fingers clean
like some fingery blow job
and Ed Sutcliffe met you
in the playground and said
You got sugar around your mouth
and he pointed
with his ink stained finger
and so you wiped
around your mouth
with your tongue
until all was clean
and you said
That Ok?
and he stared
at your mouth and lips
and said
Yeah that's better
and you said
Where's O'Brien?
He hasn't come yet
Sutcliffe said
but Austen's here
he drove up in his sports car
a few moments back
you sighed and looked
towards the place
where he parked his car
red and flashy
I suppose he'll be
in his usual
bullying mood again
said Sutcliffe
holding up
the clay pots
and saying
Look at this specimen
of a pot
and hold it
up for the class to see
Don't remind me
you said
Austen's a fink
with a face of pits
like the surface
of the moon
and Sutcliffe laughed
and it kind of eased
his nervousness
and you saw
in his blue eyes
that sharp fear
that people have
when another dies.

Not Only Numb
(phillip rhodes, robin wilson)
Looking all around the room I see the clutter in the gloom
Im not only back, Im not only numb
Changing shades within the evening
In a day then Ill be leaving
Im not only back, Im not only numb
When the air at home is thin
Getting out then looking in
Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows
It aint awful hard to tell
What its like, my little hell
Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows
Im now familiar with the tone I hear in bed when Im alone
Im not only back, Im not only numb
In the shade below the eaves
Think I could chain smoke anything
Im not only back, Im not only numb
When the air at home is thin
Getting out, then looking in
Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows
It aint awful hard to tell
What its like, my little hell
Yeah she knows, she knows, she knows
She knows, she knows, she knows
She sees all the cars around the parking lots of bars weve played and stayed
Started laughing, looking down upon the bed that weve made
Weve made, weve made, weve made
She sees all the cars around the parking lots of bars weve played and stayed
Started laughing, looking falling down across the bed that weve made
Weve made, weve made, weve made
The air at home is thin
When getting out, then looking in
Im not only back, Im not only numb
Changing shades within the evening
In a day, then Ill be leaving
Im not only back, Im not only numb...

A Jazzy Plumber Nibbled her Pride.
Did He create my heart for you proud to break?
Am I a pygmy for your jokes to crack?
Not your betrayal but your gossips on me hit
and rankled my heart. You can't save your face
and harp on harsh plots hatched with your grace.
Cheated by a plumbing techie, lorn you look.
Seeking words of comfort, around you look,
which you ignored when he shocked you with big break.
You feign worshipping God and say words of grace,
beseeching the heavenly blessings crack.
Slinging mud on me, you left with a false face.
I was mute and your rumours had no hit.
Road to success He makes everyone to hit
and sparks with ideas into which the boys look.
Slanders and insults heaped on me, you now face.
Your promise to marry me, you did break.
You failed to settle abroad in your first crack.
A plumber feigned as a techie had his grace.
The manners of girls are gifts with divine grace.
But on a jazzy false guy, you had hit.
He took you round Singapore just for the crack.
With your jewels gone, to home back you did look.
In the journey of your life, this is a break.
Pushing this jobless man off, wild men you face.
What a fink you're not to speak to my face!
Once your moon-like face seemed me a grace.
Your callous rumours, my name a bit did break
but recoiled in your heinous mind to hit.
My hardwork gave me a smiling look
and I'm not addicted to grief or crack.
The good codes of life, I could calmly crack
to scare and drive out the ghouls out of my face.
You rejected me and stopped others to look
at me, the poor guy awaiting godsend grace.
Does a girl hate a man wantonly to hit
at his sleepless, hopeless heart, easy to break?
Your shameless face my harmless heart did break.
Yet with my grace, I wished your life a hit.
My cool look is on your frail mind which won't crack.

Honeycomb Child
Melting honeycomb
Tie my shoelace on my own
That boy laughing
Wearing my hands (?)
To pull me back in
Home, home, home
To your love
Home, home, home
To your love
Climb down the oak tree
Feeling the dry grass
Under my feet
I'm here without you
Holding on, holding on
Nothing to lose
And I don't mind
You protecting me
To the end us
And I don't mind
You protecting all the others
You, you carried me in
To bed from the car
I painted your face
But I had to ask
Permission to go
But don't go to far
And we like to watch
All the flickering stars
You don't like your face
But that's who you are
I got all those shells
And put them in a box
How far would you go
If I didn't want to stop
I looked in your eyes
And it was all gone
Home, home, home
To your love
Home (to your love)
Home (to your love)
Home (to your love)
To your love (to your love)

Home Life
I think I'm gonna stay home
Have myself a home life
Sitting in the slow-mo
And listening to the daylight
I am not a nomad
I am not a rocket man
I was born a housecat
By the slight of my mother's hand
I think I'm gonna s tay home
I want to live in the center of a circle
I want to live on the side of a square
I used to be in my M-Z now
You'll never find me cause my name isn't there
Home life
Been holding out for the home life
My whole life
I want to see the end game
I want to learn her last name
Finish on a Friday
And sit in traffic on the highway
See, I refuse to believe
That my life's gonna be
Just some string of incompletes
Never to lead me to anything remotely close to a home life
Been holding out for the home life
My whole life
I can tell you this much
I will marry just once
And if it doesn't work
Giver her half of my stuff
It's fine with me
We said eternity
And I will go to my grave
With just the life that I gave
Not just some melody line
On a radio wave
It dissipates
And soon evaporates
But home live doesn't change
I want to live in the center of a circle
I want to live on the side of a square
I'd love to walk to where we both can talk but
I've got to leave you cause my ride is here
Home life
You keep the home life
You take the home life
I'll come back for the home life
I promise

Barton Fink got written very quickly, in about three weeks. I don't know what that means.
Bloody Angel
the bloody angel
finds no comfort on this earth
she looks down at her hideous body
too confirm she has no worth
the bloody angel
lies face down in the snow
shivering uncontrollably
she's found herself alone
the bloody angel
looks up to the sky
she screams aloud asking
why god won't let her die
the bloody angel
slowly crawls across the ground
her broken wings are aching
her mumbling the only sound
the bloody angel
lifts her head to see your face
why is it that you laugh at her
and turn to walk the other way
the bloody angel
hoarsely calls out your name
she used to be your only love
but now you're not the same
the bloody angel
lays down her fragile head
the snow turns no warmer
as it becomes her death bed

Comfort You
Lot of havoc in the sea
People rushing endlessly
Sometimes I think it's just their way
Of capturing a better day
You keep rushing home baby
For your dose of reality
I'll hold out my hands to you
You do what you need to
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
An ocean of humanity
Some wash up along the street
It's hard to keep in stepping round
It's hard to keep that frame of mind
Trying to move with the sun
Gives the illusion that we're one
I'll be running next to you
We do what we need to
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
But when the moonlight washes over our bed
and the road slows
A lonely siren screeching 'round the bend
The cool air blows
Raising the hair on my skin
We come face to face
Try to let each other in
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
Ohh, whoa
I will comfort you (I will comfort you)
I will I will I will I will
I will I will I will I will
I will comfort you

Said to myself stay right where you are
Done found yourself a Ma and Pa
Ev'rybody said the kid's no good
Come Home Johnny Bride come home
Johnny Bride come home
We're all wrong without you
How did we ever doubt you
He confessed to the killing
It's his role we had you filling
We didn't really mean to make you sad

Detroit City
You know last night I went to sleep in detroit city
And I dreamed about those cotton fields and home
I dreamed about my mother, dear old papa, sisters and brothers
And I dreamed about a love whos been waiting there so long
I want to go home
I want to go home
Oh how I want to go home
My kinfolks think Im big in detraoit city
From all the letters that I write, they think Im fine
By day I make the cars
But, by night I make all the bars
Oh if only theys just read between the lines
Theyd know I want to go home
I want to go home
Oh how I want to go home
You know I rode a freight train north to detroit city
And after all these years I find Ive been wasting my time
Think Ill put my foolish pride on a southbound train and ride
Heading back to the loved ones I left there waiting behind
Repeat chorus

Airplane
Over the city in an airplane
I can see everything below
The houses they look so tiny
The cars look like dots
Weve only got fifteen minutes to go
The clouds in the sky caress my mind so tenderly
The sun shines down on the great big beautiful scene
The sound of the engine fills my ears up
Im hopin this rainy weather clears up
My lover is waiting at the airport
Soon shell be kissing me hello
The woman sitting next to me tells me bout her guy
And I tell her all about you and i
Airplane, airplane
Carry me back to her side
Airplane, airplane
I need God as my guide
Down, down on the ground
Cant wait to see her face
(a-1, a-2, a-1, 2, 3)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)
I cant wait (cant wait)
To see (her face)

My home away from home
When through earth's dusty path i roam
Nightfall let me return home!
For within its four wall shall i find
Warmth and comfort of every kind!
But when worldly ventures doth beckon
That far away from home i shall finally begone
Let me paint thy face upon the canvas of my heart
And write on its page, few lines of thy sweetest part
For when the world shall curse me to hate
And every journey seems a little too late
When travel sore i find no resting place
Search among crowds and see no memorable face
Then those lines of thy sweet part i verse my poem,
Shall be my comfort, my home away from home!
