Let Solitude Be His Home (For A Nephew Upon A Broken Marriage)

how can words be soothing
to pains still existing?

how can hushes become
lullabies
to excruciating
goodbyes?

leave that man alone with his palm
let his solitude be his own balm

let it be the rock
to rest
his soul upon a hammock

let it be the softest grass
to his wounded past

let it be his home again
to his journey in the rain

Letters

i feel a feverish pulsation
pass through my veins
as i look at each word
uttered or unuttered
placed in the cup of my palm

bound by time, the
words disintegrate
and each letter
slips and slides
into a timeless space
mostly never to return…

i crack under the weight
of the silence they leave behind

but
the ones that return
to the warmth of my palm
are drained of the pulsating
passion and boomerang to
attack me with the
ferocity of a wounded lion

filled with compassion at
their helpless act of defense
i hug the poor rag-doll letters
weary after a futile journey…

i fold these letters in compassion
and i shelter them
on my soft lap
…the wounded-wing letters
fallen midflight to a cruel arrow

A Silent World

got a headache
and i shall not tell you

i do not share pain
so i hide away from you

i go behind the house
tied a hammock between two trees

the sun is up and
the shade is cool

i lay my body inside the hammock
and i rock myself slowly

slowly sleep drowns me
into a forgetting

the world is silent
upon a grass so green

Zahir

he steps out the door of the house
it is late and he walks wherever his feet carry him
he wants to be irresponsible about what to do with himself

he bathes himself with the light of the moon
sits under the tree on the grass
it is always this way
solitude and loafing of thoughts

he looks at the moon and once again stares at its craters
its round smiling face glistening in the middle of this darkness
all veins of rivers and cliffs and creeks

he loses himself in these thoughts
so faraway as distant as the stars are tiny

these excruciating details of his pain
he goes wherever these pains take him
he does not mind anymore

but soon all these will be over
he will be oblivious about what happens for the moment
he takes his hands and open them before him under the light of the moon
he sees the lines of his palm
he wakes up from the moonlight stupor
he traces now
where
for God's sake, where is the trail that now must lead him to joy

Death Angel in my eyes

In this hat of the ancestors sacrifice,
In this hurt of the spirit of my conscience,
I go because I must leave to feast with the legends,
I am leaving the shining African valleys, agents
I must leave, do not lament, you will rune my journey,
May I put down my soul’s tools?

I am famous in keens and tours of the African land,
Near and far they breathe my prominence,
I was acknowledged by all; traditional herbalist, scientist,
Clowns, technicians, artists, rascals, workers
Lazybones of noble African land but out of the rest;
I need no company from any of them,
May I put down my soul’s tools?

This journey is my specific unaccompanied,
Thought were made; the good and the bad,
The were many wishes and dream to life,
My ambition were still burning to bust achievement
Target were made, jobs already started, the were
Many jokes to crack but it is now beyond schedule
The juice was worth the squeeze, I am
Ready to go and live with my ancestors,
May I put down my soul’s tools?

My past give me a dark journey; rushing my road
Sweeping my soul, winding way, blinding my journey
For my past mistakes and hates, habits,
Blights and greed’s, out of my past come
This dark journey to death but this not
A journey of choice, may I put my soul’s tools?

Let Me Read You

let me read you that was the beginning
of this all
i was pleading then like a suitor of wisdom
to a goddess
who is blind, and deaf and mute
and so cruel
to reject my prayers

i was stranded in an island and i was very lonely
but no one knew
not one of them has gone there
only the waves from far that touched the sands
and then leave without taking any news from me

i was murmuring
there were times that i was hysterical
but no one hears for there was no one there
not even a crab
or a rat

let me read you once again
let me hear you like a page of a book
like a song of a leaf

you look at me with disdain as though asking
who are you? you have no name to woe me into submission

i resigned and dumbfounded
i begin being myself believing that i too have something to say
though different from yours

heartfelt and deeply wounded
i begin to hear my words
soothing like a balm of my clean conscience
freeing like my hands opening and letting go
from the past with you.

There is a balm in gilead
To make the wounded whole
There is a balm in gilead
To heal the sin-sick soul

“The Journey Called Life”

From where I have started to where will I end,
The journey has been long, winding and tiring.
From nothing to something… it has never been an easy adventure.

I have been tried with luck; tried with hard works;
I am tried with pains and heartaches too…

I have found love and lost it… I have found new one, I’ve tried to keep it.
I have found friends and only few remains,
I have found money, but it never really stays.

The lesson of journey is uncontainable.
I want to move on as life is moving on…
I wish to move on with it, I want to go on its flow.

To an unpredictable journey called life,
Walking alone in this path, with guts and determination.
By God’s grace and guidance.
I want to continue the journey once more…
A journey where people would remember me
As a lady who won a million smiles and conquer goodbyes.

I keep on taking my unavoidable journey in this deep blue sea with struggles and hopes.
Until one day, my journey will bring me to my destiny, that’s then that I will be home.

Your Always Missing

Something Strong is living on
Even though you’re gone
When I cry my tears
They create rain for you
Because you’re gone

I’m sitting by the bed side
Where you once laid
Many days I cry my self to sleep
And the rain comes to play with me
All I want is just you near

Missing everything that I want to share with you
Every time I close my eyes
I close my eyes with you
And I see your face next to mine
And the rain is above my head tonight

Missing words of lullabies
Sweet tender voice is silent
Rain comes to play
With lightening always striking
And your always missing

Walking in the park
Clouds always gray
Time with you was gone to soon
And theirs only tears and rain
So what is left to say today

Tree’s never swaying
Plants never growing and dancing with you and me
The rain is always here
It’s never that comforting to me

Missing words of lullabies
Sweet tender voice is silent
Rain comes to play
With lightening always striking
And your always missing

I just want to see you again
Singing a song with me
Never again to dance in the rain not without you I won’t
No more playing for me
But the rain is playing with me

Missing words of lullabies
Sweet tender voice is silent
Rain comes to play
With lightening always striking
And your always missing

Never to hear the silent cries
Only angels seem to hear
I’m guessing your up their too
But is the rain playing with you

Missing words of lullabies
Sweet tender voice is silent
Rain comes to play
With lightening always striking
And your always missing today
Your always missing from me
And the rain is crying with me

The Happy Soul

the happy soul thrives upon its own solitude
feeds upon its happy moments
and looks forward to the happiness
of the other days

it does not think about you and does not listen
to your woes
it has its own rhythm and rhyme
it feels the songs of the wind
it sees the colors of the sphere
layer upon layer it understands
the wisdom of the season
it smells the perfume of the red roses
it dances with the trees
and feels the cool comfort of the grass
it relates to the journey of the rivers
it knows the home of the birds
the words of the worms
the fullness of the beautiful foams
it knows where to rest its weariness
it sleeps and dreams
it does not even care if this world
speaks about an end
there is only bliss there is always nothing to miss

Honest Goodbyes

Sink with the tide
Rescue me if you like
I'll be leaving it all up to you
Think how we tried
It's o.k. to be lied to
As long as it's only by you

People say to me it's best that we've parted
'Cause you know I'm better alone
Don't explain to me how you're so broken hearted
I'm too busy mending my own

Ending each night with such honest goodbyes
Such honest goodbyes for the last time
Honest goodbyes only work once or twice
They work once or twice
Then the rest must be lies

Late ever night the colours fade from the sky
And the music is gone from the moon
Standing in line for what used to be mine
What use is the rhyme with no tune

People say to me it's best that we've parted
And nothing is carved out in stone
It's such a shame how we're back where we started
It's late now and time that we go

Ending each night with such honest goodbyes
Such honest goodbyes for the last time
Honest goodbyes only work once or twice
They work once or twice
Then the rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies
The rest must be lies

My Island Far Away

Across the distant shores
Where Silence dwells with Solitude,
A place I have been before,
Where Peace had been my daily food.

Soothing songs of palm trees
Dancing with Tranquility
Sways my hammock gently
And restful Sleep comes easily.

As blue waves kiss the shore,
And salty air embraces me,
Caress my very core -
Mermaid songs of the Sea.

In my island far away,
I always have companions.
Share my time, know my ways
Shape my thoughts and my opinions.

I will never be alone,
For they are in this island.
My pen, my books, my phone -
As I take the trip in my mind.

the rain finally stops,
soothing silence hushes

until
the main door of the neighbor's house
fronting ours
is banged

the usual drunkard husband
and the nagging wife

midnight, dawn,
banging.

The Soul Is The Rock

The soul is the rock and the rock will not be moved
Nothing is disputed, yet nothing is disproved
And the seeds of the earth that were planted long ago
Still yield a better harvest than the rock was prone to grow
Say what you like to, do what you do
Everyones sleeping now two by two
Bats in the roof, cats in the hall
Dust on the stairway, gnats on the wall
Big rain comin
Big rain comin this way
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
The sea is the space which the rock has displaced
The mind is some stranger that some soul has embraced
And somewhere between, in a no-mans land of dreams
The heart becomes the soldier yet the rock is not redeemed
Say what you like to, do what you can
Live like a sheep, die like a lamb
Bats in the roof, cats in the hall
Dust on the stairway, gnats on the wall
Big rain comin
Big rain comin this way
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
The soul is the rock and the rock will always roll
In circles round the sun doing rings around the pole
When the mind is not sure what the heart will do next
The rock becomes the master and the road becomes whats left
Late one night when the moon shone down
We went to the mill on the edge of the town
She wore white, I wore black
The town was sleeping when we got back
Big rain comin
Big rain comin this way
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
The soul is the rock and the rock will not be harmed
Though man must be cheated just as women must be charmed
And the mind is the light for the heart which cannot see
The soul becomes the stranger but the rock will always be
Say what you like to, do what you do
Everyones sleeping now two by two
Bats in the roof, cats in the hall
Dust on the stairway, gnats on the wall
Oh.. big rain comin
Big rain comin this way
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
Rain on the rock
The soul is the rock and the rock will not be moved
Nothing is disputed yet nothing is disproved

Brokedown Palace

Fare you well, my honey, fare you well my only true one.
All the birds that were singing are flown, except you alone.
Going to leave this brokedown palace,
On my hand and knees, I will roll, roll, roll.
Make myself a bed in the waterside,
In my time, I will roll, roll roll.
In a bed, in a bed, by the waterside I will lay my head.
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.
River going to take me, sing sweet and sleepy,
Sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home.
Its a far gone lullaby, sung many years ago.
Mama, mama many worlds Ive come since I first left home.
Goin home, goin home, by the riverside I will rest my bones,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.
Going to plant a weeping willow,
On the banks green edge it will grow, grow, grow.
Sing a lullaby beside the water,
Lovers come and go, the river roll, roll, roll.
Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell,
Listen to the river sing sweet songs, to rock my soul.

Solitude

A solitude enjoyed...
Has been a solitude earned.
One who appreciates a quietness,
Is deserving of a mind at rest.

A few who arrive...
Will confess a complete acceptance,
With a welcomeness.
Especially after dealing,
With those who find themselves still reeling,
Back and forth with feelings mixed.
From lives showing signs of an emptiness.
Devoid of a happiness they keep stalled...
Without a desire to remove this at all.
Existing with drifting wishes.

I appreciate my solitude.
Every chance I get!
It is quite different than being alone,
In an unwanted loneliness...
Others may perceive,
One condones and grieves!
This solitude,
Has been chosen to satisfy a certain mood!
And not to be confused,
With one who sits to brood in an attitude.
Those fits of mind are totally diminished...
When a solitude comes to implant and plenish!

Nature

Nature, I want to lie
on the soft wavy grass.
Under a shady tree, listening
to the song of the Thrush.
I'm tired of this weary way,
of the vices, the decaying,
time wearing me every day!
I can't get why we hurt
other with scorching words,
fight with race, religion!
The lambs have to go homeward.
Two days ago or after,
we will breathe our last.
Why, do we feel hatred,
and turn wrong, unjust?
Nature, my best teacher,
spread your hand and
take me in your serene,
gentle, soothing land.
Forgetting all the pains,
the strife and sorrow,
I'll, take rest on your lap,
your calmness, let me borrow!

(ludacris)

Stand there and just get shook out your shoes
So clean out your locker, Im out to getcha
Cuz I just popped ya, you cant take the pressure
You might as well quit, cuz you just cant last
Madden two thou put your face in the grass
And your spine in the dirt, so put on a skirt
If you step on the field and dont wanna get hurt
Just bruised and beaten, all black and blue
And its been like that since madden 92

You better come harder than hard, rougher than rough
Put up your guard, get ready to crush
Its thangs on this field that you just cant change

Those Words We Said

(angelo/kim richey)
I left home with nothing but a few tears in my eyes
Now Im halfway down the interstate past highway 99
Its just me and one good wiper blade up against the rain
And I still hear the echoes of those bitter words we said
I could drive a million miles and never drive them from my head
Those words we said
No matter how I try I cant get far enough away
Every sad song on my radio sounds like its custom made
By some devil on my shoulder that keeps whispering in my ear
Those words that wounded like an arrow to the heart
And keep me drivin, drivin

Feet On The Rock

(Spoken)
Well, I wanna talk to you for a minute,
About an old man I met,
He said, Boy, you look in trouble,
And I bet your life's a mess,
He said, I used to have the same problem too,
I was way out of control,
You know the only thing that set it right for me,
Was a little good old rock and roll,
Chorus: (Sang)
I put my feet on the rock,
And my name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
I won't worry 'bout my soul,
I know my home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
I put my feet on the rock,
And my name on the roll,
I'd never heard the gosple,
Spread like that before,
I guess the message comes in many ways,
Those simple words of wisdom,
Can open heaven's door,
So every time I get the chance I say,
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
--- Instrumental ---
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
Well, You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
Chorus:
Come on, put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll,
When it's called up yonder,
You won't worry 'bout your soul,
You know your home is waiting,
And it's something to behold,
So put your feet on the rock,
And your name on the roll
Now, put your feet on the rock,-ac
