Hardly anyone has noticed that in the Northern Hemisphere people stir their drinks counterclockwise, whereas the same people stir their drinks clockwise when visiting the Southern Hemisphere.

The United Conference of Hemispheres
How about...
The United States?
'No.
That's what we're called now! '
Oh...
You're right.
I forgot.
Well..
How about,
The United Federation of Americas?
'Hmmm...
Now that does have a ring.
With Canada, Mexico...
And the current United States.
I like the sound of it! '
Or...
How about,
The United Western Hemisphere?
'YES!
That's brilliant.
We'll have a meeting this weekend,
To discuss it!
But we must go slowly with this.
The people are already going nuts over the economy!
But I do love this idea.
We'll have the United Northern Hemisphere.
The United Eastern Hemisphere.
And the United Southern Hemisphere.
Whenever we come to meet...
We'll call ourselves,
The United Conference of Hemispheres!
Pass that by President Obama.
See if he approves before the announcement is made!
We must consolidate all nations as soon as possible.'

Solstice
Northern hemisphere
the longest night is coming
everything bare here
devoid of any life humming.
The southern hemisphere
the longest day there
babies are born
green everywhere
locked in a daydream they stare.
Realize please.. this is the same place
one half of the other
hurtling through space
revealing the rhythm of Life
into a multisensory perception.
See yourself as a soul first~
then a personality second
these changes will make known
a feeling of change..
I reckon.

Lifestyle - Pressure
i feel unhassled and at ease with myself
the organic pomegranate and purple carrot juice
i just downed have warned my heart to
work without exerting pressure on me
note courtesy of wikipedia;
The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree growing to between five and eight metres tall. The pomegranate is native to Iran and has been cultivated and naturalized over the whole Mediterranean region and the Caucasus since ancient times. It is widely cultivated throughout Afghanistan, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, the drier parts of southeast Asia, Peninsular Malaysia, the East Indies, and tropical Africa. Introduced into Latin America and California by Spanish settlers in 1769, pomegranate is now cultivated in parts of California and Arizona for juice production.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the fruit is typically in season from September to February.[3] In the Southern Hemisphere, it is in season from March to May.
Purple carrot:
Purple carrots (usually orange inside) have even more beta carotene than their orange cousins, and get their pigment from an entirely different class, the anthocyanins, these pigments act as powerful antioxidants, grabbing and holding on to harmful free radicals in the body. Anthocyanins also help prevent heart disease by slowing blood clotting and and are good anti inflammatory agents. These originate from Turkey, and the Middle and Far East.

Spring Is Arriving
The weather is wet as the old man remember
But two days from now on the first of September
The Goddess of Spring without any commotion
Will arrive in the Land by the Southern Ocean
In the quiet of midnight when most people are sleeping
Through wood and through park and paddock she will come creeping
In the Southern Hemisphere her three months of residency she will be assuming
When the golden flowers on the wattles are blooming
It looks like August will end as it began raining
But about that the farmers will not be complaining
They have had to survive through many a drought stricken Season
And to smile in the rain they have every good reason
To the southern shore the Spring her way silently winging
And in the rains of late August the wild birds are singing.

I Envy The Migratory Birds
I envy the migratory birds their freedom from Country to Country they fly
Their wings take them to distant places they travel thousands of miles by sky
Their life span is a brief span but they travel far and wide
Above the timeless oceans and miles of countryside
They live an average of thirty Seasons in time not a lengthy span
But they see more of the World than the most trvelled woman or man
I envy them their freedom they fly thousands of miles every year
From the coldness of the Artic to the warm Southern Hemisphere
They are the feathered wanderers they fly from pole to pole
The travel bug is in them till age of them takes toll
In the cool chill of the morning above the southern shore
They fly northwards towards their Artic breeding grounds twelve thousand miles or more
From the warm Southern Hemisphere they are born to migrate
They fly over many time zones and time for them doesn't wait.

The Best Day Of The Year
This morning very early I heard the magpie sing
And suddenly it dawned on me it's the first day of Spring
The dawning of September and on the stringybark
The white backed magpie whistled sweet music in the dark.
The first day of September the best day of the year
That is if you are living in the Southern Hemisphere
For Spring the Season of beauty and of greenery and youth
A time of bloom and grass growth when seedlings take to root
The Spring came in at midnight from places far away
She crept in through the darkness for her annual three months stay
And magpie he woke early on the stringybark tree
And for the welcome visitor piped his sweetest melody.
This morning very early before the dawn of day
The magpie welcomed the visitor from places far away
And the first day of September the best day of the year
That is if you are living in the Southern Hemisphere.

Like A Hemisphere
He sees what Im lacking and he tells me without attacking my life
He sees what Im needing and he gives me love without my pleading
I see where his worries lie and I help him to decide
He sees what Im missing that sometimes I need to be alone but sometimes I need him to listen
Like a hemisphere he surrounds me with a wisdom that astounds me
Like the horizon he draws my eye to him and he makes me see just how lonely I have been
He knows what Im thinking without a sign without blinking my eyes
I know what hes asking in our love there aint no masking no disguise
I know what hes after its the truth and the laughter
Why cant we see in ourselves all the beauty we see in everybody else
Like a hemisphere he surrounds me with a wisdon that astounds me
Like the horizon he draws my eye to him and he makes me see
Like a radio he calls out to me in the middle of the night
Like a hemisphere he is perfectly clear and he makes me see just how lonely I have been
I dont wanna go through this life just getting by I want to fly
I dont wanna go through this life not asking why
I need to know why we are here we are here together now
I dont wanna go through this life just to die
Well you made me see just how lonely I have been
Like a hemisphere he surrounds me with a wisdom that astounds me
Like the horizon he draws my eye to him and makes me see
Like a radio he calls out to me in the middle of the night
Like a hemisphere he is perfectly clear and he makes me see just how lonely I have been

A strangely reflective, even melancholy day. Is that because, unlike our cousins in the northern hemisphere, Easter is not associated with the energy and vitality of spring but with the more subdued spirit of autumn?

Dust Mites
Microscopic are lives lived like dust mites,
And inhabitants of a world that spins...
As well as speeds through an expansive eternity.
All are fixed to myths and worship beliefs...
To control what is 'thought' to be their destinies.
There is neither top nor bottom in this universe.
Although those living on Earth,
Have declared North and South Hemispheres.
With wind storms churning,
Counter-clockwise in the Northern one.
And clockwise in the Southern.
It is obvious no human has the power,
To control any of this.
Nor how this may relate to the Sun.
And yet conflicts exist,
To prove who has what to benefit 'whom'?

I Do It For Your Love
Words & music by paul simon
We were married on a rainy day
The sky was yellow
And the grass was gray
We signed the papers
And we drove away
I do it for your love
The rooms were musty
And the pipes were old
All that winter we shared a cold
Drank all the orange juice
That we could hold
I do it for your love
Found a rug
In an old junk shop
And I brought it home to you
Along the way the colors ran
The orange bled the blue
The sting of reason
The splash of tears
The northern and the southern
Hemisphere
Love emerges and it disappears
I do it for your love
I do it for your love

Remembering An Old English Teacher
i look at him
he has only one tooth left and his face is like a tin roof
corrugated with too much heat and pressure
i do not blame it with the english grammar that he once taught
us with rigidity,
his degeneration or
degradation has something to do
with the way the walls around him
kepping him away
from the glow of the world and the glitter of everything that he is
supposed to own and
behold,
i look at him
his running nose cannot be stopped by any handkerchief
that i gifted him on his
78th birthday, he does not want to use any gift, he does not want
to remember the good old days,
he wishes a happy death he said this on the nth time
i detest this kind of
unwanted endings, but i look at him again, this time i utter
empathy
what can i give this old man so i can repay him what he had given
when words were so hard to understand
so harder to use with facility?
i look at him again
his eyes are tired wanting to get eternal sleep
his hands are shaking like a face refusing everything
turning clockwise and counterclockwise
he wants to die but he just cannot
i look at him and now i am willing to give him all my fears.

The King (II)
And now a son has come again
To keep the peace or strike the blow,
And have a long, great, glorious reign,
Through calm or tempest, weal or woe.
And strange things set me wondering –
As man and youth, we knew him here,
The one the only British King,
To see his Southern Hemisphere.
‘Midst pealing bells and cannons’ din
The countless thousands cheer and strive
To catch one glance of their new King
And queenly Mary, his fair bride;
‘Til on their knees, within the Fane,
The Royal couple meekly kneel,
The Great God’s clemency to claim,
And pray Him for their people’s weal.
And so I see, in vision clear,
The long reign of this noble line,
How on and on, from year to year
The star of peace shall brighter shine,
How men and nations, without fear
Shall hope and labour, strive and sing:
“The day of liberty is here!
The King is Dead! Long Live the King”
