Wallowings

I am in the Wallowing-
there I find my best and worse.

Pity-Wallow is where I focus
all on my self and go inward
for long moments of pity-filled indulgence of self.

Sorrow-Wallow allows me to grieve
on my own terms, yet not really suffer
too much.

Wallow-Defeats are my best
and where I re-learn over and over again
not to regret.

Good Wallow where I learn lessons
over and over again-
Down is the best way Up;
Out is the best way Back:

Wallow-Defeat is the path to Happiness-
if you Wallow quietly and accept
that a Good Wallow is where you
plan for the Wallow-Through
not stop and rest amid your Wallowings.

As my Mother used to say:

'Cry and Wallow that's ok
but use the time to plan to get
back on your feet again.'
A good Wallow is a terrible thing to waste.'

Disintegration

While pawns die in the front lines
And the rest wallow in Poverty,
The filthy rich just wine and dine
And barren Politics rape Liberty.

Dissolving the essence of family,
The high and the mighty fall prey
To the whims and caprices of many
Forsaking what the Truth may say.

Renaming what is obviously Sin
Labeling it merely a lifestyle,
When a prince bares all of his skin
They call it a party and smile.

As greedy Bankers count their Gold
Who cares if millions die of hunger?
Man has degraded, his soul is sold
Sadly, Humanity's sinking lower.

When foundations like these fall apart
What else can the righteous do?
As a parent with children, I'll do my part
I will pray to the God Who is True.

The Darker Side Of Sydney

There's more than glitz and glamour to Australia's biggest city Sydney has it's darker side
I've seen so many young people there their lives by drugs and booze destroyed
By trees in small parks and dimly lit laneways they sleep on the hard and bare ground
Near to where there's wealth and opulence there's great poverty to be found.

Many seem to think that for their poverty they only have themselves to blame
That they are lacking in their self worth and do not have a sense of shame
That they spend all of their welfare money on the buying of narcotics and booze
But it doesn't seem right to judge somebody if you have not walked in their shoes.

For to support their vices they must sleep rough and live on the cheap
And in the laneway off of Bourke St on the hard concrete they sleep
Yet I dare not criticize them and of them can only say
That they are the less fortunate of people and in life have lost their way.

One could say that their vices for them are now out of their control
But the weakness of the flesh is not a weakness of the soul
The soul of the poor and down and out despite the body's disrepair
Can have far more depth and feeling than the soul of the millionaire.

Australia's largest city to so many a sense of pride
But despite it's wealth and opulence Sydney has a darker side
And where there is glitter and glamour such great poverty abound
And far too many people living poor there and sleeping rough on the bare ground.

Children Should Not Have To Be Homeless

There are thousands of homeless children in Beijing in China though that is not suprising to hear
For where there is a huge population there is poverty too 'twould appear
And China to anywhere else is no different the rich getting richer they say
And just beyond the leafy suburb is the suburb of neglect and decay.

There are thousands of homeless children in New York though with that some may not agree
In America the great Land of commerce no such a thing as poverty?
But the facts of course will tell you differently and in a World of inequality
There too are children homeless and hungry in the so called Land of the free.

There are homeless children in London in England as well as in Paris in France
The poor children of the poor suburb in life they do not have a chance
Their parents in Jail for drug abuse they become the kids of the street
They search the rubbish bins for food in dark alleys and what others do throw out they eat.

There are homeless children in Sydney and Melbourne and anywhere else one might name
Though that does not seem to affect us we never reflect on our shame
That many should have to grow poorer for one to become a millionaire
In a truly egalatarian society would never be looked on as fair.

Children should not have to be homeless though born into abject poverty
They should not be punished for the sins of their parents so much for our humanity
And money to some all that matters and money is married to success
Whilst the children of the poor live homeless on the street of the No Fixed Address.

Sonnet: The Magic of Poverty

A birth in poverty is luck supreme!
A death in poverty, a great blessing;
A life of poverty is rare a dream;
Achievements great, stark poverty can bring.

’Tis poverty that goads nations do feats;
’Tis poverty that stimulates scientists;
In everything, poverty, wealth just beats;
The greatest men were in poverty’s lists.

And poverty lessens our worries much;
Account to God will be much easier;
Poverty gives the saint a divine touch;
In poverty, poets can fly higher!

Poverty helps to shun worldly pleasures;
A soul in poverty, Heaven allures.

Hesiod

False shame accompanies a man that is poor, shame that either harms a man greatly or profits him; shame is with poverty, but confidence with wealth.

Poverty-I

Lot of hunger and having no food is poverty,

Not having spare cloth to take bath is poverty,

Needing a shelter but not having one is poverty,

Child's sick but can not buy treatment, is poverty,

Fainting child dreaming a mouthful of rice is poverty

Searching warmth in cold flesh in winter nights, is poverty,

Sitting with umbrella on wetting bed in showering night, is poverty,

Thoughtful mother, two mouthful of rice and three children, is poverty,

An ill, deserted mother selling her child wishing it will survive, is poverty.

A defeated and desponded mother poisoning and killing her child is poverty,

Children Of Shadows

Children of bullying wake to a befallen doom
As they prepare for school
Not knowing what the day will behold

Everyone wants to be understood
Why must they be bullied?
You just don't know how it tarnishes their self esteem
It hurts so bad
Please stop!
Let me be
The pain is unbearable
So they see themselves as a shadow

Children of shadows don't want to be spit on
Children of shadows don't want to be laughed at
Children of shadows don't want to be humiliated
No one wants to be thrown in the trash

Children of shadows can overcome
Children of shadows can be loved
Children of shadows can be understood

Because we are not a shadow
But a fierce soul

The Poor Bloke's Prayer

My electricity bill I just cannot pay
Dear God when I need you where are you today
You don't seem to listen when to you I pray
And when I need your help from me you turn away.

The prayer of the poor bloke on poverty street
For his children he cannot afford to buy meat
His wife is unwell in bed feeling run down
A poor family on the poor side of the town.

He prays but God never pays heed to his prayer
Life can be so tough for one on welfare
On a below poverty line income and job opportunities rare
Of how real poverty feels he is all too aware.

If your wife and children are hungry and payment on your bills overdue
To positive thinking 'tis hard to stay true
You pray to your God for assistance but your prayer God does not heed
And your so called friends do not wish to know you in your times of need.

So What The Fuss

If I'm caught at a dance party without my dancin shoes
And everybody dances on my bare feet
Shame on me
If I'm mindin my business just doin the right thing
And you try to front me off in the street
Shame on you
If a family's waiting for that special blessing to
come their way
But they ain't tryin to get on their knees and pray
Shame on them
And if we live in a time where every nation's fightin
'round the world
Yet we can't all agree that peace is the way
Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss
If I gotta get up early in the morning for a job
interview
And I forget to set the stupid alarm
Shame on me
If my children are playin outside like little children
do
And you come 'round there tryin to bring them some
harm
Shame on you
Should I be drivin thru a klantown, find a restaurant
to get me some food
And someone says "hey boy, we don't serve your kind"
Shame on them
And if we live in a democracy and you don't use your
power to vote
Knowin some would like to turn back the hands of time
Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss
If I'm hooked on a habit knowin damn well it could
cost me my life
Yet I keep doin what I should do without
Shame on me
If you're locked in a marriage and your other half
just gives you abuse
Yet you've convinced yourself that there's no way out
Shame on you
If we're jammin the music and somebody's got the
audacity
To say that they can jam it better than us
Shame on them
And should there be just a handful that believe that
we are totally free
And there's no need to fight for equality
Shame on us
Shame on me, Shame on you, Shame on them, Shame on us
(repeat)
So what the fuss

Trauma

She wakes up
Trembling, frightened, pale faced and humiliated
Day and night
When humans become inhumane
And shame has no place to hide.

Hunted before the crowds
Molested behind the bushes
Raped in the moving cars
Relatives, friends, goons, terrorists or
By political czars.

Mentally mauled, physically abused
Everyone looks on but never rescued
Nightmarish moments never out of sight
Living dead or deadly living
Soul and body always in fright.

Tender age matters to none
Everything she dreams, is undone
In a flash, everyone jumps in
To encash
Her innocence, her trauma, her conscience
For five minutes of fame
Putting even THE GOD in shame.

Haiti....

Haiti! I see your never ending sufferings
I thought I was robbed of happiness but,
in comparison to your pain
I am no where in shape or form to complain
Your beauty and youthfulness has been robbed
robbed and raped by many mercenaries over the years
In the form of coups and sometime aid, but
nothing will you ever gain

Even the nature has no shame,
keep on giving you more and more suffering and pain
corrupt rulers, poverty, earthquakes, and sometime devastating Hurricanes
Listen, help is on the way...Soldiers are coming
here comes the soldiers of greed
to rob and steal your motherhood and take away your children
and to convert them into brainless stooges and lifeless robots,
to serve their lord of no mercy,
Destroy their innocence and make them fight against others,
Soldiers of God.

You Haiti, lay there wounded and can’t do anything,
Your children are sad, pained, and hungry,
and this goddamn world with no shame, yet we are all so lame
let it happen everyday, everywhere
‘Cause Haiti is just a name for everyone's pain
let motherlands lose their loved ones to shameless wars, poverty, and hunger
where children have to join them or move and migrate forever
get blamed that they are wild beasts, and they say
These people have been fighting with each other forever,
uncivilized, animals, self hating criminals

But you ask these Gods of morals,
How did they come to this point?
What capitals, militaries, politicians who control their
destinies, got them to this quarrel?
You do know them, yes you do
Alas, I see Haiti everywhere
Afghanistan, Somalia, Iraq, Sudan and many more
hunger, poverty, greed, and pain is the same affair.

Help For The Poor

Forty Word Poem:

Poverty-trapped and poverty-stricken
To consider children in need is our mission.
Vintage harvest, but too small a yield;
Equality for everyone would be the ideal.
Bread must be shared now and evermore
Poverty's a subject worth fighting for.

The Shadow Inside My Shadow

poverty is not my cousin,
is not my lover,
is not my preacher,
poverty is not my brother.

poverty is not my prayer,
or the song that i sing
is not my answer
poverty is not my dream.

poverty is not my teacher,
not the hand that i hold.
poverty is not my anger,
not my spirit, not my soul.

ah! but this poverty is real
it races thru my mind
crashes into my heart,
& leaves me deaf and blind.

poverty is my companion.
the aching cold inside my hollow.
the blow behind my eyes,
poverty is the shadow
inside my shadow.

Shame

When the day is young,
And the laughs are thin,
I stayed the night too long,
And the colour grows upon my skin,
Shame , shame , shame ,
All I feel is,
Shame, shame, shame,
All I feel is,
Shame, shame, shame,
All I feel is,
Shame, shame, shame,
Just pack and go and never return,
When will I ever learn ?
When will I ever learn ?
Not to turn and stare,
Not to turn and stare,
Shame , shame , shame ,
All I feel is,
Shame, shame, shame,
All I feel is,
