A Lonely Woman
she sings her songs
in the desert
time and again
those that hear her
under the moon
remember oasis
bridges and rivers
and seagulls and
date palms
wild birds in the safari
tigers and lions
with cubs
and forests never
before imagines
such a sad woman
wanting to free her people
from the loneliness
of the dunes
the cruelty of the sun at
noon

Meeting again [Revedere]
– Forest friendly and sincere,
How are you today, my dear,
For since I have seen you last
Lots of years have quickly passed
And since far away I've been
Half the world my eyes have seen.
– I do always what I know,
Hear the blizzard bringing woe,
Breaking branches in its race
Covering the waters' face
Snowing up the narrow way
Chasing all my birds away;
– And in summer, all the time,
Hear the doina, song sublime,
On the path where people mount
To fetch water from the fount,
Filling their jugs with care
Sing the women young and fair.
– Forest dear, with rivers clear
Time goes by and time comes near.
You are young, as people say,
But grow younger every day.
– What is time, despite its aches
Stars still sparkle in the lakes,
If the time is good around
The wind blows, the leaves will sound;
If the time is wild and free
Flows the Danube to the sea,
Only people change from birth,
Wandering upon the earth,
While we stay unmoved therein,
Peaceful as we've always been:
Rivers, oceans, sandy strands,
The world with its desert lands,
Moon and sun and other things,
And the forest with its springs.

for J....
I am glad
having said
i could have loved you more...
it is sad
when love withers
due to your suns
when the desert bears more sands
because you hated more
about dreams of waters
rains are strangers
and the caravan of camels
are trains of thoughts
traveling at night
and not knowing what days are...
i am an oasis
and i have no place for you anymore
the leaves of my date palms
do not recognize your songs
anymore.

On The Dunes
Drive along the sea
Far from the citys twitch and smoke
To a misty beach
Thats where my life became a joke
On the dunes
On the dunes
(became a joke on the dunes)
Where rents are high
And seabirds cry
On the dunes
As you spoke you must have known
It was a kind of homicide
I stood and watched my happiness
Drift outwards with the tide
On the dunes
On the dunes
(homicide on the dunes)
It wasnt fair
Its brutal there
On the dunes
Pretty boats
Sweeping along the shore
In the faltering light
Pretty women
With their lovers by their side
Its like an awful dream
I have most every night
In the summer all the swells
Join in the search for sun and sand
For me its just a joyless place
Where this loneliness began
On the dunes
On the dunes
(loneliness on the dunes)
Im pretty tough
But the wind is rough
On the dunes

A Second Look
i must have been
mistaken,
that evening you
were a full moon
on my desert
you were the warmth
of my cold body,
i bathed with time
in the oasis
under the palms,
at the second look
at you
you have become
the sun
that speaks of
thirst and
death to me
help me
reverse time,
let me save
that love
i have for you.

The Last Flight
there is always a reason why a man cannot
cease writing
there is that denial of what was there a long time ago
it sits there like a statue
beside the door of the house
where the window is always closed
there is always a reason why the words keep flowing
like a river
why the river is always filled with running water
despite the drought
you see the bones of cows
the dust of the sands in the desert
it was once an oasis
where date palms abound where women bathe
with their men
where they make love
under the crescent moon
there is always a reason that you know
but you do not tell
but which i will always deny
as truth
it is this denial that keeps my hands going
like soldiers ready for a kill in that theater of war
it is this roaring lion that does not bite
that keeps me
in fear that keeps me speaking inside myself
there is no one here
there is no wall anymore
the winds are waiting with all the wings of the dead birds
it is ready
i am undressing
this is the flight.

I Wonder Where My Lions Are?
I wonder where my lions are?
I wonder where my lions are?
I wonder where my lions are?
They are safe running in heaven in that beautiful park that God own in Heaven together with the other animals
Also in heaven they are protected by God
Because God doesn't allow any hunters in heaven
Like here on the earth
But there is no animal cruelty in heaven
But the place that have animal cruelty is on the earth
The people that lives in heaven are more educated than on the earth
The people in heaven respect the animals in heaven
The people on earth don't respect the animals on the earth
The people in heaven have a lot of love for the animals
The people on the earth don't seem to have any love for the animals
Even when I sleep I dream of heaven and I see the lions and other Animals
Living free in the park
And I must say that the park in heaven that God made is beautiful
But at the same time I thank God for giving the animals a beautiful Home

Making The Choices...
from my rotting belly
words like words are coming out
no one likes them
worms are beguiling
i am misled myself
because from my rotten belly
the worms without my minding
have become
tiny butterflies
then they fly towards my hair
which have become some kind of little flowers
and i can smell the sweet scents of chili
i have forgotten my body
i have become a forest with all these safari stuff
and orchids and wild birds
to my big surprise of course
because i am never asleep i am awake
oh, this workings of the mind
from a rotten body, this junk of our history
shall rise
the wonders of our future, a forest, birds, safari, rivers,
clouds, skies,
everything, everything, you simply have to make the choices...

Couch The Comfort
Couch the comfort and bite the pain
Everybody play insane
There’s chaos at the zoo
Wild wild tigers come for you
And we can whip our way to safety once again
Until the children are all safe
until the children are all safe
until the children
are all safe
Bloods been drawn
down by the bodega store
There’s zebras and lions
and the lions eat the zebras
Over 12 dollars and mother hollars
Juan is gone
My eldest sons been eaten
yes my eldest sons been eaten
Lions run from the blue guns
Rob the poor to build the funds
And they’re running free
Just a little bit more
Too many antelope lose the war
So we couch the comfort and bite the pain
Everybody play insane
There’s chaos at the zoo
Wild wild tigers come for you
And we can whip our way to safety
once again
Until the children all learn
until the children all learn
until the children all learn
To be insane too

The Island poem.
The Island was there surrounded by sea,
Where the family stayed, so much to see;
The birds flying in the sky, and on the water too,
Yes! They were enjoying their holiday, it's true.
The Island stretched for many a mile, they could see,
With plenty of shells, and sand, the sunsets so pretty;
The Coconut palms, and date palms, to walk in the cool,
And the children enjoyed it all, for there was no school.
The husband enjoyed to go fishing each day,
The children loved to run on the sand and play;
The wife, she enjoyed it too, to rest under the tree,
Then she called them all at night, it is time for tea.
The Island holiday soon came to an end,
The children said, our holiday we can pretend;
That we are still on our lovely holiday retreat,
And remember the birds, and the birds so sweet.
Have you ever been to an Island, for a holiday?
Maybe you travelled far, to Queensland, is what you'd say;
Or was it somewhere in the Islands of the south see?
You'll know it was a holiday to feel so very free.

The Mocking-Bird
In mirth he mocks the other birds at noon,
Catching the lilt of every easy tune;
But when the day departs he sings of love,--
His own wild song beneath the listening moon.

Dark Forests
Dark forests...Northern...Sourthern Mountains,
Fierce tigers circle around the villages in broad daylight.
...To The red dawn of twilight
The skies shine bright
Protecting what is theirs
In the magic of the night
The tigers roam everywhere taking lives for food.
The Majesty of the tigers power,
The prey dare not make a sound.
The new kin tiger sprout every year
In the valleys low.
Male and female tigers come up and down the mountains in large groups.
There is a village near the tigers’ dens in the valley,
Where tigers often come and eat the villagers’ brown calves.
Rich young men dare not shoot the arrows at the tigers.
The Majesty of the Tiger lives forever
The Majesty of the Tiger
They only pretend to check for the tigers’ tracks in the forests.

Valerie
Valerie, ooh yeah
We were laughing, and hangin round some hotel bar
And we were so young, and now I wonder where you are
cause that was years ago, but how was I to know wed part
Dont wanna hear you say, you dont know me, valerie
There is somethin, somethin that you gotta know
And valerie you were the first, though I never told you so
You were the main event, you didnt need to steal the show
Im telling you, you dont know me
Valerie - do you remember me, when we were wild and free
Valerie - do you remember me - do you remember
Im recalling all the crazy things weve done
Hey but when your folks found out, they said that we were way too young
That was way back when, maybe it will be again
Dont wanna hear you say, you dont know me
Valerie - do you remember me, when we were wild and free
Valerie - do you remember me - do you remember, yeah
(solo)
Do you remember me - ooh yeah - when we were wild and free
Valerie - do you remember me - just tell me how you feel
Valerie - do you remember me, when we were wild and free
Yeah, valerie - do you remember me - just tell me how you feel
Do you remember me - oh valerie - when we were wild and free
Valerie - do you remember me, just tell me how you feel...

Mousetrap
Once upon a time
in the beautiful surroundings
people lived happily.
No fences, trees
laden with fruits,
birds and butterflies
sing together,
river flows to that tune.
Sun also very calm
Moon in her turbulence.
Lions and Tigers
visited to human problems.
What a lovely harmonious stone age?
Barbarous modern man changed.
He has forgotten the Ape and started barbecue.

Today's Empty Thoughts....
today
he is unable to focus upon a certain idea
it is a waterfall.
he likes to grab a droplet of rain
his hands are filled with holes
he decides to lay his body on the grass
focus his eyes upon a star at night
there is no star, his eyes are closed
there is this kind of suspended feeling
like a frozen river, a fish got stuck on ice
a dragonfly trapped upon the web of a spider
there is this feeling of: what do i really think?
not what i want, but what is in my mind
there is this desert where everything that you see is sand
no camel, no moon, no oasis, no date palms, not even the shadow of a sand dune
the sounds of sighs come
you hear your self breathing for emptiness
you pause, rethinking, what is this?
you go inside it, trying to find if there is anybody there
it is empty. Yourself is not even there.
It is so real that you now doubt if an illusion exists at all.

Memories
I see wild waves that break, and breaking-run;
And the wild sea-birds wheeling round the ships;
But at the dawn, the coming of the sun,
I see your red, red lips.
I see the cold moon now with fresh delight;
And the stars arise anew, and yet arise;
But in the night, the blackness of the night
I see your sad, sad eyes.
I hear the engines throbbing as we ride;
And the men’s songs. I hear great throats
Rejoice.
But in the silence, when all the songs have died,
I hear your soft, soft voice.
