The Cable Car Ride

We came out early on that Tuesday afternoon
I didn't want to part just yet for you to be gone so soon
A cable car ride suggested, it quickly took your mind
We took a tube to Greenwich and sauntered past O2
And sooner than we knew it we were where we needed to be
With oyster discounts in our hand and wristbands strapped on tight
It was not long before we took our flight
In our glass cccoon for two we swept up into the grey
The wind picked up and swayed us off our way
I hoped that one such gust would place your hand in mind
But you proved to be the braver one you never moved an inch
I desperately wanted to put my hand in yours but was frightened still to do it
But it wasn't' the wind you know that made we want to do it
The moment passed with a GPS joke and then onto costa coffee

Virtue Vs Evil

Wherever you are wherever you go
I will go with you hand in hand
A faltered state of agony and lust
I will go with you hand in hand
Vying for the amelioration of offspring
I will go with you hand in hand
Injecting an age-long flight from right
I will go with you hand in hand
The endearment of wealth and spendthrift
I will go with you hand in hand
Wherever is the wretched face of human lure
I will go with you hand in hand
The pitfall of human lot has waged a spiritual war
I will go with you hand in hand

Awareness

Sitting in Costa Coffee,
Sipping my Earl Grey tea,

I wanted to be alone,
And didn’t want to meet anyone
I have known.

I sat and stared
At people passing by,
Talking animatedly and looking at the ware.

Sitting in the Mall
Does ease my mind,
And I feel free of stuff that makes me feel appalled.

Amused I saw escalators,
Ferrying people to and fro
And felt we have really come far.

I just needed a change,
And wasn’t here to browse.
So I let my gaze
Wander about.

Soon I forgot why I was here,
For sometime I was fully aware.

Africa

It wasn't the flowing blond weave,
Attached to your head like a hat.
Or those blue eye contacts.

It wasn't your three inch painted nails,
That scratched my hand...
As your long eyelashes flapped.
Reminding me of fly traps.

Not even your smile bothered me.
Exposing a mouth full of gold teeth

It was when you purred like a cat.
To announce your name was 'Africa'.
That offended me.
And for some reason I had to get up...
To look for the nearest exit to leave.

I knew right then we didn't have chemistry.
And there was no doubt in my mind...
A you and I together was never going to be.

And that might have been your real name.
I just didn't want to stay to hear how you got it.
Or why or when you began to accessorize your pride.

Our Points Of View

We now differ on how we look
At things. I am silent. I want to be silent.
You wish we are noisy. Or at least
We must talk.
You wish there is a glass of wine
In our hands
I still think we need coffee.
I am secure. I feet that so.
Your hands are shaky,
Reflections of the waves
Inside your mind.
You are picking on some little
Things that grow on the
Pavement. You want to kill them.
I say, I gesture, leave them
Let them be.
I situate myself on a hammock
Riding with the wind
This afternoon the breeze is cold
From the seashore.
Finally you do not resist
Getting near me and you complain
“I hate this place, it is too lonely
For me”
I do not mind. Deep inside my mind
I like this place. It is too peaceful.
I swing with the wind
With the hammock. You hold it.
You want it to stop.
I look at you and you cry.
Tears flood the creeks of your cheeks.
I cannot wipe them now.
I know, you want to leave.
I am silent. I am secure now.
I ride with the wind on the wings
Of my dreams.
I am listening to the
Footsteps of the ants
I am counting how many
Time the grasshopper jumps.
I like it here. It is peaceful

Now go, find your place.
Your dreams. Take your trip
To your sighs.

That was our moment

That was our moment
As I sit and reminisce
I think of the night
When we first spoke
The moment our eyes met
You said you were a writer
Without realising I was a fighter
You did not even know my name
As I had your confidence tamed
That was our moment

Out of the blue the words came
I asked if you could spend the night with me
I promised you inspiration
As long as you gave me attention
I was sure to show great appreciation
You looked at me with a drunken gaze
Yours eyes and smile said you were interested
And we entered into a mutual agreement

On the long bus ride home
I hoped you would not change your mind
As your hands fiddled in your pocket
Thankfully your money you could not find
You were in a trance thoughtfully thinking
Perhaps debating if our moment was right or wrong
I could sense it
I could feel it
But my body was selfishly weak
I needed your kiss, I needed your touch
I needed to feel and touch your body till I was completely weak
That was my moment

I looked in a drunken daze
Back at my untidy place
Which almost made me lose face
My immediate craving got the better of me
As I quickly asked if you wanted a cup of tea
Then it was down to business in my bed
Until my sexual hunger was fed
What followed was a night of snoring
No conversation that would have been boring
Our moment was fantastic
Yet sadly very sick

It was only when we woke up
That I saw your beauty from the top
As you drew on your smoke
I read you a verse from my book
You said I picked you up and you felt cheap
What did you expect?
You thought you were intellect
But what you sow is what you reap
And as for the time being
This was our moment
Your time that you lent
To me for free

An autumn storm

An autumn storm
~
The sky turned grey, clouds rolled over
A wind picked up howling through trees
Birds took flight, flew into hiding
Rain patted down gathering pace
The horizon drew a charcoal grey
While winds picked up and rain ran down
Windows rattled, trees swayed
Whistling high pitch, almost screaming
The storm it came and raged wild
Then as quickly, as sudden as it came
It broke to clear skies, wisps of cloud
A gentle wind rolling through leaves
Rain soaked water dripping down
Drying in the sun now shining
An autumn storm in its passing
Captured the imagination to write
On an otherwise ordinary day

Reunited

When I received a letter from my Dad,
Saying he didn't want to meet,
I decided to go and confront him.
I wasn't going to admit defeat.

'I told you in my letter not to come.
I thought I made that perfectly clear!
It would never work. I don't even know you, '
Were not the words I'd hoped to hear.

'It's too late, ' he told me.
'You've got your life. I've got mine.'
He was shocked when I told him
I'd lost my Mum in an accident when I was nine.

My brother, Luke, asked me to stay in touch.
He was begging me to stay,
But there seemed nothing between me and Dad,
And I thought it best for me to go away.

When I was small, we went for walks.
It was always Dad's hand I wanted to hold.
It kept me from falling.
It kept me from the cold.

I was sitting in the car ready to leave,
But took one last look out the window.
Dad was stood there. I went to him.
'Don't go, ' he pleaded. 'Please, don't go! '

As he held my hand in his
For the first time in thirty years,
I found it totally impossible
To hold back the flood of tears.

I put my head on his shoulder,
And we held each other tight.
This was the moment I'd dreamed of,
And now I was convinced the moment was right.

Ride The Wild Wind

Ride the wild wind
(push the envelope dont sit on the fence)
Ride the wild wind
(live life on the razors edge)
Gonna ride the whirlwind
It aint dangerous - enough for me
Get your head down baby - were gonna ride tonight
Your angel eyes are shining bright
I wanna take your hand - lead you from this place
Gonna leave it all behind
Check out of this rat race -
Ride the wild wind
Ride the wild wind
Gonna ride the whirlwind -
It aint dangerous - enough for me
Tie your hair back baby -
Were gonna ride tonight
We got freaks to the left - we got jerks to the right
Sometimes I get so low - I just have to ride
Let me take your hand
Let me be your guide
Ride the wild wind
(dont sit on the fence)
Ride the wild wind
(live life on the razors edge)
Gonna ride the whirlwind
It aint dangerous - enough for me
Ride the wild wind

My Other Hand...

the black man's hand,
the poor man's hand.
the Muslim hand, the Jewish hand...
the gay man's hand,
the working man's hand,
the ex-convict's hand,
the farmer's hand, the garbage man's hand...
the Christian's hand, the atheist's hand,
the father's hand, the soldier's hand,
the peacemaker's hand,
the healer's hand, the teacher's hand,
the prodigal's hand, even the murderer's hand...
the victim's hand, the broken hand,
the praying hand, the touching hand...
all, when extended,
feel like my other hand!

All You Wanted

I wanted to be like you
I wanted everything
So I tried to be like you
And I got swept away

I didn't know that it was so cold
And you needed someone
to show you the way
So I took your hand and we figured out
That when the tide comes
I'd take you away

If you want to
I can save you
I can take you away from here
So lonely inside
So busy out there
And all you wanted
was somebody who cares

I'm sinking slowly
So hurry hold me
Your hand is all I have to keep me hanging on
Please can you tell me
So I can finally see
Where you go when you're gone

If you want to
I can save you
I can take you away from here
So lonely inside
So busy out there
And all you wanted
was somebody who cares

All you wanted was somebody who cares
If you need me you know I'll be there
Oh

Rough Ride

I needed loving, needed a friend
I needed something, that would be there in the end.
On a rough ride to heaven
Want to get inside, what will I do?
On a rough ride to heaven,
I want to get inside to be with you.
I knew youd help me, I knew you could.
You knew I didnt want to be misunderstood.
On a rough ride to heaven
Want to get inside, what will I do?
On a rough ride to heaven,
I want to get inside, to be with you.
Im not asking for an easy passage,
So I hope you understand,
Im not after any special treatment,
But I wouldnt mind a hand.
On a rough ride, on a rough ride,
On a rough ride, on a rough ride,
On a rough ride to heaven,
Want to get inside, what will I do?

One Afternoon By The Cafe...

YOU get attuned to talking to yourself
while sitting on a bench
with coffee held by your left hand
your right hand simply doing nothing
you see the people passing by
like the hours in your
mind
like the hands of the watch
circling
busy, really busy
concentric and arriving at nothing
actually
it is the best that happens
in an afternoon
like this one

the manic days of March
meandering mind
reconnecting
readjusting....

What happened to the lovely woman

What happened to the lovely woman
that every night
I wanted to hold against me
and where is she now

and is there still wind
blowing through her long autumn hair
on the porch
and are her fingers still busy

paging through poetry books
and do her soft sent still hang
on the evening wind
fresh like spring rain

at times it feels as if you fade away
and our love wants to take
another course
and maybe it was only a dream,
but from it
I never want to wake
and every moment it becomes more real

and I know that it’s not past
when you bring me a cup of coffee
and we look at doves
and other birds,
that prettily coos and sings
while they pick up seed
and I feel your hot hand
pressing mine full of love
and I know where you are
and how happy
this dreamer really is.

Lady Godiva

Hey Lady Godiva, ridin´ through the town
Naked on your big white horse
With your long hair hangin´ down
Lady Godiva, you say you´re really frightened
and so shy
I hate to bust your bubble but you
Sure picked a funny place to hide
Hey Lady Godiva, lookin´ for a place
Where no one wants your body
And nobody knows your face
Lady Godiva, you say you wanna be loved
For what´s inside
I don´t know much about horses but you
Sure picked a funny place to ride
Every man´s just a clutchin´ hand
Reachin´ out to grab you
Every man´s a quiverin´ lance
Tryin´ hard to stab you - don´t let ´em nab you
Hey Lady Godiva, lookin´ kind of scared
You showed ´em all your talents
But nobody seems to care
Lady Godiva, could it be nobody wants to ride
Come to think it over
You may have picked the perfect place to hide

What Others May Think.

Apart from the water tower
and the farm

and a few scattered cottages
there were no other buildings

for a mile or more
just you and Jane

and birds in the early morning sky
I like it at this time of day

she said
I like the fresh smell of nature

and the farm
and having few people about

you walked beside her down the lane
that led away from the farm

you noticed how her black hair
seemed freshly washed

and blew slightly in the mild wind
does you father mind

you being out with me?
you asked softly

he doesn't know
she replied

he thinks I came out alone
for a morning walk

why didn't you tell him?
you asked

he was busy writing his Sunday sermon
and it was easier to just go out

and not disturb him
she said looking around at you

her eyes studying you
as she walked on down the lane

would he mind you being with me?
you asked

I don't think he knows you as yet
seeing as you have only moved here

a few months and don't come
to the church

you stopped and took her hand in yours
it was warm and soft

and pulsed with life
she looked at your hand

holding hers and she rubbed
her thumb over the back

of your hand
you wanted to kiss her lips

or cheek just to feel
her flesh on yours

but you didn't you just looked at her
and waited to see

what she would do next
she let go of your hand

and looked around her
there might be people looking

from those cottages up there
she said suddenly pointing up

at the rising bank which went up
to two cottages high up

if they see us they may tell Father
and then it would be awkward

and he might suspect things
and then she went quiet

and looked at the running stream
by the lane

but we haven't done anything
we just walk out and talk

and hold hands now and then
it's not what we do

it's what others think we do
she said softly

and stood looking at you
waiting for you to speak

but you said nothing
just leaned in close to her

and kissed her cheek
and said

even Christ permitted kisses
even the one from Judas

and she smiled
and the early morning sun

pushed through trees
and shone on her hair

and there was the sound of birds
singing in the air.

Hook

I was only a young man
In those days. On that evening
The cold was so God damned
Bitter there was nothing.
Nothing. I was in trouble
With a woman, and there was nothing
There but me and dead snow.

I stood on the street corner
In Minneapolis, lashed
This way and that.
Wind rose from some pit,
Hunting me.
Another bus to Saint Paul
Would arrive in three hours,
If I was lucky.

Then the young Sioux
Loomed beside me, his scars
Were just my age.

Ain't got no bus here
A long time, he said.
You got enough money
To get home on?

What did they do
To your hand? I answered.
He raised up his hook into the terrible starlight
And slashed the wind.

Oh, that? he said.
I had a bad time with a woman. Here,
You take this.

Did you ever feel a man hold
Sixty-five cents
In a hook,
And place it
Gently
In your freezing hand?

I took it.
It wasn't the money I needed.
But I took it.

When The Lovelight Starts Shining Through His Eyes

(holland / dozier / holland)
He gave me the eye
But I just passed him by
I treated him unkind
But he didnt seem to mind
I told him be on his way
Not a word did he say
He just stood there kind of bored
What am I acting for?
When the lovelight starts shining through his eyes
Made me realise I should apologise
And when he placed a kiss upon my face
Then I knew, oh baby I knew
That hed won my heart
So I quickly apologised
Hopin he hadnt changed his mind
Not a word did he say
So I turned to walk away
When the lovelight starts shining through his eyes
Made me realise all he felt inside
And when he placed a kiss upon my lips
Then I knew, oh baby I knew
That hed won my heart, oh yeah
Then he asked could he walk my way
I hoped sweet things hed say
Then he smiled a-kind of nice
As he held my hand kind of tight
When the lovelight starts shining through his eyes
Made me realise all he felt inside
And when he placed a kiss upon my face
Then I knew, oh baby I knew
A-that hed won my heart, oh yeah
When the lovelight starts shining through his eyes
Made me realise all I felt inside
And when he placed a kiss upon my face
Then I knew, oh, baby, I knew
A-that hed won my heart, oh yeah
That hed won my heart

Forbidden Chapter Two:

Chapter Two

She found herself making preparations even before the fishing trip. She knew what she was doing but she hid it from herself. She went to the mall and bought the items she would need without letting herself acknowledge what she was planning. Maybe she did know, maybe she did not know but it was down deep in her mind and did not come up to where it entered her everyday mind.

She went to the cabin for two hours and cleaned, prepared things, saying to herself this was just routine. Yet even in the cleaning there was purpose which one part of her mind knew and one part of her mind did not know the purpose of her activity there.

She had gone to the catalog and surveyed her choices there and found one she fell in love with and took her household savings and sent off for it.

That act was so deliberate, so clear that it, from that point, made it clear even to her other self what see was doing, not what specifcally she was doing but what she wanted to be involved in what she wanted to do.

It was not going to be a one time thing. Her mind was settling on it being something she could do again and again if she liked.

She got really excited with the idea that she had freedom to do it again and again. It was liberating. It made her feel like a girl again, no not a girl, like a woman.

By fishing day she raised her hand to wave goodbye brimming with excitement.

Riding The Wind Together

My mind wandered aimlessly
to another place and time
far away in the distance
heard the wind gathering
rhymes.

The miracle of the wind
called me
as it galloped through
the meadows
come my darling, stay with
me
and ride the wind together.

The wind danced before my
eyes
I heard the wind howling
begging, sweeetheart come
to me
we'll ride the wind together.

When I look into your eyes
I see my future unfolding
many lovely tomorrows with
you
we'll ride the wind together.

Now all is dark, just you
and I
cuddling close together
our love will endure the
storms of life
we're still riding the wind
together.
