Mr. Riddle
I like riddles,
how about you.
I can say this,
can you too?
I like riddles,
how about you?
colors.
white and black.
you had tack.
I like riddles.
you play the fiddle.
i have a book,
you have a nook.
I like riddles,
how about you?
guess my answer
to your question.
If you don't know
my answer to this riddle,
I'll make you a deal,
But remember,
all deals come with a price.

Riddles And Riddles And More Riddles
the riddles are not getting rid of me
and they keep on multiplying riddles and riddles and riddles
without a hint as to the answer
but i am not at all surprised or frightened or eager to answer each
mystery, i am relaxed and comforted to the idea of
myself:
i am a question without an answer.
everyday i grow and i know not where these tendrils are anchoring themselves.
i go where the wind hushes where i think i may feel better.
i put my feet on the ground and the ground moves like a planet orbiting
its own path within its unknown universe.
i breathe the air to live some days more but what is it that makes me alive?
i am not frightened anymore.
I get used to all these: i do not know. yes, i do not know. but
i am.

Mister Fix It
I need to be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
I...
Need,
To be there!
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
I need to be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
I...
Need,
To be there!
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
I've never give up on a love,
I could not keep before we split.
It seems as if we've gotten use to getting a bit!
I need to be there.
Never give up on loving it,
Once a week.
Just...
To keep it secret!
B-b-b-be there.
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And put to rest...
My need to split!
Just be there,
Whenever I am called to play Fix-It Quick.
I need to be there,
To give time to it.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
Whenever I am called to play Mister Fix-It...
I need to be there.
To give time to it.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
Just be there,
And not subject myself to riddles.
Or feel I'm in the middle of something misfit!
Whenever I am called to play Fix-It Quick.
I need to be there.
To give time to it.

Idiosyncrasy
Speculation is full of riddles.
Trading is full of problems.
Coveting a woman is full of risk.
Solving the riddles,
Overcoming the problems
And braving the risk
Are the sources of pleasure.
To invent riddles to solve,
To create problems to overcome,
And to assume risk to come through
Are man’s idiosyncrasy-
To create difficulties
For the pleasure of solving them.

A Hundred Spells
Turandot, Puccini’s opera, told by stylised illustrations in a book
the heart of an Ice Princess frozen by the Moon Goddess, three
riddles posed to every Prince who wished to be her suitor on pain
of death if he could not get the answers right, beheaded by
imperial gesture of the shimmering beauty
Another Prince intrigued by the Princess, the first riddle: Every
night it soars anew, every day it dies - Hope, he replied; Illusion
said the Princess cold - the second riddle: Dream and the flame
flares anew - It is my blood that burns within with love for you,
answered the Prince - the third riddle: What is ice
that gives you fire - You cast a hundred spells - he sighed, The
answer is Turandot; he won the challenge, but would not marry
her against her will, set her one riddle - Say my name, made
her a gift of it to doom them both if she named him, then she
declared LOVE to be the stranger’s name
Chose to marry the strange Prince who by being brave and
generous won her respect; she despised all others but
feared him, cried her first tears - Conquer you or be
conquered – an enchanting Persian tale from A
Thousand and One Nights

27 For 27th
Riddles and parables are like the sayings of a muse,
But how i hope to be there for this marriage;
Like the appitude of a beauty with the brightness of love.
27 for 27th when one is about to be married!
Of a joyful heart i do write this poem;
Like the writer's pen with you at times.
The date of an occasion,
Of riddles and parables to respect the muse;
But beauty baths you when the rhythms of the blues are all over you.
Love is like the roses that blooms,
And this is your day in the garden of love;
With the rhythms and the blues to debrief you like a teacher.
This is for your eyes only,
And try to live your life on this day to shine like a star!
Of the hint and the excitments that will swing you with love.
Elevated with the mix of the pleasure to crown 27 for 27th,
Like to say something very witty on that day;
So dance to your muse and,
You will be very pleased to hear the cloud of your extintions!
Like a sweet life on the horizon.
Of a breakdance on a victory lane,
On the muse of this marriage to crown the day;
27 for 27th is the date you will always remember.
Love verses marriage,
Life verses beauty,
A breakdance on a victory lane when two hearts meet;
How i hope to be there for you.
27 for 27th,
Absolute released in the eyes of the people;
And, the adventure is undeniable!
Like the riddles and the parables of life.
The love story about you two,
With the set up of things to this date;
Like a great scene of a marriage which will be in the history books!
Soon to be united as husband and wife.
'Is he smiling? '
'Is she smiling? '
Like the sayings of a muse that unites you two into one today;
This is all about 27 for 27th.

Answered
Good-bye – Yes, I am going,
Sudden? Well, you are right.
But a startling truth came home to me
With sudden force last night.
What is it? shall I tell you? –
Nay, that is why I go.
I am running away from the battlefield,
Turning my back on the foe.
Riddles? You think me cruel!
Have you not been most kind?
Why, when you question me like that,
What answer can I find?
You fear you failed to amuse me,
Your husband’s friend and guest,
Whom he bade you entertain and please –
Well, you have done your best.
Then, why, you ask, am I going?
A friend of mine abroad,
Whose theories I have been acting upon,
Has proven himself a fraud.
You have heard me quote from Plato
A thousand times no doubt;
Well, I have discovered he did not know
What he was talking about.
You think I am speaking strangely?
You cannot understand?
Well, let me look down into your eyes,
And let me take your hand.
I am running away from danger –
I am flying before I fall;
I am going because with heart and soul
I love you – that is all.
There, now, you are white with anger.
I knew it would be so.
You should not question a man too close
When he tells you he must go.

Question Everything
Ever since I was a child
You always said that I should understand the rules
You take some and give less
Sit high above the rest...dont you
As I ask a simple question
Cuts me off with his reply
Hes been practicing for decades
Now he thinks I have the time
He flows in and out of riddles
Looking me straight in the eye
But it seems like somethings missing
From the days when he was more my size
Chorus:
Ten years older and Ive finally found my pride
This old man comes rolling home to die
Old feelings make it hard to decide
Just what it means to me
Everything exists tween black and white
You can twist and distort the most blatant of lies
Or just offer up solutions
Practiced only in your mind

Alice In Wonderland
i must remember alice.
and when i remember alice,
i must again remember
the wonderland: where
rabbits talk and caterpillars
smoke where Humpty Dumpty
always has a story to tell
where politics become
but a fantasy, where riddles
come like fables and
parables. after all these
imaginings, i am lost
and then, i forget alice.

Drinking With Márquez
Gabriel was sitting on my left,
a gray archangel fashioning a tired moustache
under his alcohol-crying eyes;
a kind patriarch in his solitude.
We spoke in Spanish,
we joked in Italian,
we argued in English,
and we thought in Whiskish.
And one hundred years of riddles passed in a night.
Riddles of love and illness,
cholera and la violencia,
under the irony of Fidel’s shadow,
the censorship of the cohiba ashes,
and the curfew of Pope’s colonels.
But when he asked me:
“¿Porque estás aqui? ”
I became a little child baptised in mud,
running barefoot through the alleys of Macondo,
carefree yet in fear of the evil in my hours...
... Gabriel had always been sitting on my left;
in a storm of thoughts we scribbled our pledge
to the chronicles of our heart
that foresaw our fate,
forgave our past,
and foretold the adventures of our minds.

Forbidden Love You Are
You wasn't suppose to happen
I'm not even sure what I feel inside of me
You came to me so fast my love
You tell me this was meant to be
Forbidden Love you are
You speak in riddles to me
I somehow lose control watching you
Your voice completes me somehow
But I really don't know what to do
Forbidden Love You Are
I can't give you the right answer
Surely we know we must be discreet
You seem to understand me well
But we must watch when we meet
Forbidden Love You Are

Bessie's Song To Her Doll
Matilda Jane, you never look
At any toy or picture-book.
I show you pretty things in vain
You must be blind, Matilda Jane!
I ask you riddles, tell you tales,
But all our conversation fails.
You never answer me again
I fear you're dumb, Matilda Jane!
Matilda darling, when I call,
You never seem to hear at all.
I shout with all my might and main
But you're so deaf, Matilda Jane!
Matilda Jane, you needn't mind,
For, though you're deaf and dumb and blind,
There's some one loves you, it is plain
And that is me, Matilda Jane!

Paradox
Why riddles?
Because I could never say
Exactly what I mean
Straightforward in a world
Essentially structured
On grounds of paradox...

Bring Back My Past
I remember tales, riddles and jokes
From my granny's, huts
And enjoyed, pounded nuts.
I remember we swam, in streams
And played, with mud, sinking muddy vessels
And laughed, cried, when we won and had losses.
I remember father's and mother's, praises and teases
For scores we made, and naïve made faults
Bring back my past, who can make for dice
I remember well for this, and miss,
Gold, silver and bronze,
None would, turn the past, as a piece!

Trust
The same old baffling questions! O my friend,
I cannot answer them. In vain I send
My soul into the dark, where never burn
The lamps of science, nor the natural light
Of Reason's sun and stars! I cannot learn
Their great and solemn meanings, nor discern
The awful secrets of the eyes which turn
Evermore on us through the day and night
With silent challenge and a dumb demand,
Proffering the riddles of the dread unknown,
Like the calm Sphinxes, with their eyes of stone,
Questioning the centuries from their veils of sand!
I have no answer for myself or thee,
Save that I learned beside my mother's knee;
'All is of God that is, and is to be;
And God is good.' Let this suffice us still,
Resting in childlike trust upon His will
Who moves to His great ends unthwarted by the ill.
