Medusa
Evil Gorgon, with snakes for hair
Gullible beholders turned to stone
“Take her head” Perseus did swear
“For slaying men she must atone”

Aspecta Medusa ( For A Drawing)
Andromeda, by Perseus sav'd and wed,
Hanker'd each day to see the Gorgon's head:
Till o'er a fount he held it, bade her lean,
And mirror'd in the wave was safely seen
That death she liv'd by.
Let not thine eyes know

Turned Into Stone
Change the course of history,
So that the building of rest is absurd.
My gorgon hisses fully in my direction,
The underworld can keep secrets,
But a gorgon hisses in me
All of the secrets of stone,
That I become stone itself.
The history I observed as a child
Made me an angry statue
By scouting this far,
There is no glimmer of hope,
And I revere this.

MO CAILIN ALAINN RUA(My Beautiful Red Haired Girl) /RED RIVER/WEARING HER HAIR - Sequence
MO CAILIN ALAINN RUA
(My Beautiful Red Haired Girl)
Your hair
taken by the wind
blown
into flame
a fiery red
Medussa
standing on
the edge
of this
mountain
a world
turned to stone
as if your gaze
froze this landscape
into place.
I too
still as stone
your hair
flaring up into the air
fiery snakes
like thoughts
bursting out of your mind
fighting the sunset
that only
a small box camera
captures
& contains
this photo
cutting off your head
from the rest of you
mythical
untouchable
mo cailin alainn rua
mo cailin alainn rua.
***
RED RIVER
Your hair
trickles down your back
in curls...curls
curl after curl
rivers of ringlets
cascading down your spine.
I want to drown
in the waters of your hair.
You wear a waterfall
over each shoulder
The fiery flames
of your tresses
crashing over thigh & hip & buttock!
My hands
like fishes
swimming all over
your body
splashed with the beauty
of your hair
touching & touching
the sheer
nakedness
of
you.
***** **
WEARING HER HAIR
You stand
before me
dressed only
in the dress
that your hair
weaves about you
naked
yet
not
you wear
your hair
as a magical
garment
from a half remembered half forgotten fairytale.
You undress
throwing your hair over each shoulder
I come to you as if a spell
commanded me to & you
wrap me
in your hair.
Both our
nakedness
wearing your hair
sheltered here
lost amongst
kisses.

A fellow poet(well, it wasn't a fella) divulged that she too was red of the hair(this had been unknown to me) and so this homage to redheads came into being just on this wisp of information...the memories and images flood back into being.

Fathers of Atonement
I saw Leonard Cohen on TV
slightly stooped, shining white hair
dinner jacket, black bow tie
it almost broke my fragile heart
to see him there, soft poet of white heat
go forth among a multitude
that did not care much for his art
and were not turned to wonder, nor to stone.
He called us to repent
I don't remember anymore
how to repent, or on what day
falls our Atonement, how I must atone.
I saw my father yesterday
in army gear, his green beret
bearing the red badge of the queen
on leave in an American scene
gunshots rang out, his heavy booted feet
fell on the hills of Israel, Palestine
before my father left
waving and headed slowly down the track
he turned his grey head and looked down at me
he said, leave Palestine alone:
after centuries of peace and rain
they will invite us to come back again.

Why Oranges Are Beautiful
In total frankness,
I bear no particular fondness towards any of the fruits.
I'm sure there are nut-jobs who are obsessed by oranges (or indeed amazed by apples, captured by coconuts or plum-tuckered-out with enthusiasm for plums) .
Yet, they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And, more than once, have I found myself with stinging beauty beholders after citrus juice squirted into them.
Therefore,
If oranges are beautiful,
And I have had their beauty in my beholders on more than one clumsy occasion,
Then surely if I behold hard enough I shall be favoured with their beauty?
They are (after all) a lovely colour,
And my favourite juice (above no other) .
Also, how very satisfying they are to peel.
And they do provide a taste of the exotic.
Under waxy peel (if I were to wax poetic) ,
I see delicate white veins tangle over sweet flesh,
Where baby seeds wait and rest.
And how easy the segments are to share.
I mean,
Perhaps if the Evil Queen, had poisoned an orange rather than an apple,
She would have got a lot more done that day.
You know,
If that's the way you (or your head) rolls.

Moodswings
With the Gorgon's head
Flush to my cheek,
Her ungodly breath
In my nose,
Whispering to me:
'Take the extreme I give you
And plunge it into your fellow man;
For they deserve no less.'
Like an arrow I shot out eyes with my eyes,
A spear, I controlled little lives.
Having changed now,
From a simpering fool
To the devil's tool,
My core is apple-rotten,
Misbegotten,
And all I require is forgiveness
For my tiredness,
Which is the Gorgon of moods.

The Stone
The stone
The stone by the dave matthews band
Ive this creeping, suspicion that things here are not as they seem.
Reassure me, oh why do I feel as if Im in too deep.
Now Ive been praying, for some way to show them Im not what they see.
Yes I have done wrong, but what I did I thought needed be done, I swear.
Oh, unholy day, if I leave now I might get away.
Oh but this weighs on me, as heavy as stone and as blue as I go.
I was just wondering if youd come along.
Hold up my head when my head wont hold on.
Ill do the same if the sames what you want,
If not Ill go, I will go a long...
..long way, ah, from that fools mistake.
And now forever pay, no run, I will run and Ill be ok.
I was just wondering if youd come along.
Hold up my head when my head wont hold on.
Ill do the same if the sames what you want,
But if not Ill go, I will go a long...
...long way, to bury the past for I dont want to pay.
Oh how I wish, this, to turn back the clock and do over again.
Now Im hust wondering if youd come a-long.
Hold up my head when my head wont hold on.
Ill do the same if the sames what you want,
But if not Ill go, Ill go alone.
I need so, to stay in your arms, see you smile, hold you close.
And now it weighs on me, as heavy as stone and of bone chilling cold.
I was just wondering if youd come a--long.
Tell me you will.

I Dream of Andromeda
Aethiopia is a land of exquisite beauty,
Inhabited by a princess worthy of its charms.
And the king her father thought it his duty
To boast of her glamor in spite of envious alarms.
So the lovely Andromeda sitting on the shore,
Her long hair waving seaward in the salty breeze,
Has been chained to rock by vengeance heretofore.
But the brave Perseus arrives and her he frees,
After slaying the sea monster with a vicious gore.
Now Andromeda is the goddess of all my dreams,
Who reigns supreme in the celestial sphere.
Her beauty is yet unique in the heavenly schemes,
And can cause clouds and tempest to disappear.
If I for a moment neglect to confess her glamour,
Savage beast would roar her praise from lust.
The most ardent lover she forces to stammer,
Her charms makes their tongues unable to adjust,
For it is that womanly way she has with men to enamour.
The forests, streams and all of nature are her gift,
Since every creature with a heart she delights.
O God make me her Perseus and please be swift,
For she is my only dream on starry nights.
My brand is honed sharp to slay the dragon,
And the keys to her chains lay buried in my sack.
We will fly away on a Pegasus drawn wagon,
And sail the celestial ocean in a star guided yacht.
To toast life eternal, may I lift this star-studded flagon?

Fragment 01
WHEN, upon the well-wrought chest,
Fiercely heat the howling wind,
And the oceans heaving breast
Filled with terror DanaCs mind ;
All in tears, her arm she throws
Over Perseus, as he lay
0, my babe, she said, what woes
On thy mothers bosom weigh!
Thou dost sleep with careless breast,
Slumbering in this dreary home,
Thou dost sweetly take thy rest,
In the darkness and the gloom.
In thy little mantle there,
Passing wave thou dost not mind,
Dashing oer thy clustering hair,
Nor fhe voices of the wind.
Yet if thou, my beauteous one!
Felt the weight of this deep woe,
Not unconscious would my son
Hear his mothers sorrows now.
Yet sleep on, my babe, I pray,
Sleep thou too, tumultuous deep
And th unmeasured cares that stay
On my heart, let them too sleep!
Father Jove! I ask of thee,
Vain their evil counsels make!
And, though bold the prayer may be,
Right my wrongs, for Perseus sake.
Three Days
(carly simon)
If I have known you only three days
Then how will I remember you in ten?
But I could swear Ill love you always
And if the gods will please be kind
Darling, Ill be with you soon, soon again.
And on the road you have some good times
But when the show is over you go home
And it hurts me so to leave you behind,
And lordy I feel lonesome,
Lonesome for the you I might have known.
Youll be in l.a. in the morning
And Ill be in london by sundown
But when I sing, my song is filled with longing
And the memory of your last look
The way you took me by suprise
And the way you turned my head around
And the way you turned my head around.

Stone
Hey stone on the ground
stubbed my toe on you.
Hey stone on the ground
it made me mad at you.
Picked you up, threw you far.
I should have put you in a jar.
Make you atone
you darn old stone.
You made me stub my toe.
Bet you didn't even know.

Evil Woman
Patrick simmons
Well, the lights turnin gray, nearly every day
Come a walkin into town and try to find the way
Well, Ive only got a nickel, got to score myself a dime
And try to make it til tomorrow, buy a little more time
Evil woman, evil woman
Evil woman
Well, my damsel shes a woman with coal black hair
Dont you look her in her eye when she starts to stare
cause her beauty drive you crazy
And her potions steal your soul
No matter how you beg her she dont ever let you go
Well, you can cry, you can plead
It wont help you none
Shell keep you in the shadows, never see the sun
Try to run, try to hide
Find a place to stay
No matter where you go you cant get away
Evil woman, evil woman
Evil woman, oh
For evil woman set my life free
I cant go on livin this way, no
Evil woman set my life free
Pullin me down, down
I cant go on this way
Down, down my head will go against the floor again
Down, down my head will go against the floor again
Down, down I cant go on this way
Down, down my head will go again
Down, down I cant go on this way
Down, down my head will go again
Down, down I cant go on this way
Down, down my head will go again

She is evil (Song)
She is evil
By shrewd looks she sees
Her canines are waiting for you
The claws are missing to treat
Approach her and you will view
Want to take all what you harvested
So be clever with her
She is disloyal and as the snakes, twisted
She is evil. She is evil
At the silent of the midnight
I see her lurking after someone
Trying to get the time to fight
Cause the killing is one of her funs
So don’t be one of her victims
And try to defeat her anyway
You have to know that we are her aims
And for living here must pay
Beware she is evil.. she is weevil
Obeys the lord of devil
Yeah

Andromeda
Now Time’s Andromeda on this rock rude,
With not her either beauty’s equal or
Her injury’s, looks off by both horns of shore,
Her flower, her piece of being, doomed dragon’s food.
Time past she has been attempted and pursued
By many blows and banes; but now hears roar
A wilder beast from West than all were, more
Rife in her wrongs, more lawless, and more lewd.
Her Perseus linger and leave her tó her extremes?—
Pillowy air he treads a time and hangs
His thoughts on her, forsaken that she seems,
All while her patience, morselled into pangs,
Mounts; then to alight disarming, no one dreams,
With Gorgon’s gear and barebill, thongs and fangs.

Under An Oak Tree
The leaves of my soul crunch beneath my feet
With the many pieces of me
They all collapse without the other half
Wind telling them secrets
The flowers singing them songs
But all of them horror
Saddened lies and deceit
The sent of a green tree so sweet and desirable
Just stands behind me to protect his prize
A rose gently swaying in the breeze
If carefully picked she might know how to please
Then yet again like a man of waves and fire
A man of stone and beard
Once said all women are like snakes
Not all snakes are venomous
But all snakes are deadly
I am different
And this he sees
Very easy to please
All I want is to laugh
To smile and to give
This he does
The wind in my hair is so great
But I know the evilness it holds
The secrets it tells
Dares not to share them with me
Blowing the pages in my journal around
Like a teen to its mother
The fresh due tickling my finger tips
As if feathers trying to make me sneeze
Warming my cooled face
The reds and yellows spying into my eyes
To see what I’m dreaming about
I see as I open my eyes
I was just sleeping under the oak tree

Mother's Hair Has Turned To Silver
Mother's hair has turned to silver
Her skin is all wrinkled and cold
But i'd never trade my mother
For the world and all its gold. Yes her hair has turned to silver
Her face is all covered with lines
But there'll never be another
Like this gray haired mother of mine. I think of all the hardships
I have caused her to bare
Then I can see the reasons
For the silver in her hair. Mother's hair has turned to silver
And her hard working days are done
But there's still a smile on her face
And a love for everyone.
