The Child Beckons The Clouds

The child serenades
the galloping darker clouds,
and drizzle the rains!

A sad tune she plays in a rainy night

With a small drizzle I hear the melody,
Queen of the night she walks here and there with the wind
And it looks so sad when she passes without a hope.
There isn't a single soul to be seen on the road
As the drizzle turned into heavy rains unexpectedly.

Galloping Days

Galloping, galloping, galloping horses
Weave thro' our dreaming in burgeoning Spring;
There's sun in our hearts and there's sun on the courses,
And paeans of hope Winter's threnody forces
Over the hill-tops; for joy is a-wing.
Joy is a-wing, and the galloping rhythm
Mingles, alack, with a ruefuller rune,
For winners may rug but the losers run with 'em,
On the galloping, galloping tune.

Galloping, galloping, galloping gladly
Round the white railing and on to the turn,
While keeping in time to it, urgently madly,
Pulses are racing, ecstatic'ly, sadly;
Eyes to the thundering eagerly yearn,
Voice, upraising, are praising, are pleading,
Mid rackets gay jackets flash by and are gone.
Then the field in the sunlight, retreating, receding,
Goes galloping, galloping, galloping on.

Galloping, galloping, galloping; streaming
Now in green distances, seeming to crawl,
Like miniatures moving, like manikins seeming,
While o'er hedge and hollow a bland sun is beaming
Casting a benison over it all.
They run to the 'Distance.' The horses! The horses!
They gallop! They gallop! They turn for the 'Straight!'
They gallop, the hoses! Who nurses remorse is
A runagate cringer to galloping Fate.

Galloping, galloping, galloping ever,
Tho' cheering is over, they gallop amain;
Tho' fact and fond fancy reluctantly sever,
The round of that ultimate, straining endeavor
Still buffets and bludgeons and beats on the brain.
They gallop - Wake up, man! What profits regaining?
Luck lurks in the offing. On, on with the dance.
Aw, tear up your ticket! The sun is still shining.
The next race is starting. Who foots it with Chance?

Songs Of The Sky

In a sky of layered clouds,
dawn becomes a rainbow,
moving through the spectrum
toward the day.

In a sky of always blue,
no clouds ride the wind:
the sun burns brightly,
high and hot and long.

In a sky of may grays,
clouds crash, explode and roar;
rain-filled winds sweep across the prairie.

In a sky of many blues,
clouds dance on the wind;
and endless and quixotic
Rohrschach test.

In a sky of always gray,
no clouds seem to move;
overcast blots out imagination.

In a sky of cold, cold blue,
gray clouds scrape the treetops;
harbingers of winter storms to come.

Beneath a sky of darkening gray,
the prairie grasses rustle
on the small, forgotten farms
of what could've been
and was.

In a sky of mottled gray,
cold rains fall, now and then;
the seasons struggle
for control of April.

In a sky of broken gray,
cold winds precede the rains;
and before long
the darkened clouds re-gather.

In a sky as clear as glass,
and blue from top to bottom,
sultry days of August
slowly drift into September.

In a twi-lit noon-time sky,
this annular eclipse
leaves us just a
ring around the moon.

In a sky of many clouds,
sunset's an inferno;
ablaze, in this,
my father's final twilight.

In a sky that slowly burns,
the clouds of fire fade
and leave a darker beauty
to hold the night.

Galloping Horses

Oh, this is the week when no rhymster may rhyme
On the joy of the bush or the ills of the time,
Nor pour out his soul in delectable rhythm
Of women and wine and the lure they have with 'em,
Nor pen philosophic if foolish discourses,
Because of the fury of galloping horses.

Galloping, galloping thro' the refrain -
The lure and the lilt of it beat on the brain.
Strive as you may for Arcadian Themes,
The silks and the saddles will weave thro' your dreams.
Surging, and urging the visions aside
For a lyrical lay of equestrian pride,
For the roar of the race and the call of the courses,
And galloping, galloping, galloping horses.

This is the week for the apotheosis
Of Horse in his glory, from tail to proboscis.
That curious quadrupled, proud and aloof,
That holds all the land under thrall of his hoof.
All creeds and conditions, all factions and forces,
All, all must give way to the galloping horses.

Galloping, galloping - sinner and saint
March to the metre, releasing restraint.
If it isn't the Cup it's the Oaks or the Steeple
That wraps in its magic the minds of the people.
Whether they seek it for profit or pleasure,
They all, willy-nilly, must dance to the measure.
The mood of the moment in all men endorses
The glamorous game and the galloping horses
Galloping horses - jockeys and courses
They gallop, we gallop with galloping horses.

How It Rains and Rains

‎...as if trillions
of buckets of water splashed
intermittently

...as if up there
clouds remember to rain
suddenly in torrents

...as of rain's
on a game of teasing
the earth

is how it rains
and rains and rains
over few days/nights!

Let It Rain, Let It Rain, Let It Rain!

Siberia breathes its cold air
southward to the Pacific
down into our archipelago, and
so the nights are longer and the days are getting shorter
and it rains and rains and rains
seemingly without stopping and i am caught
shivering under the nipa roof inside the wooden house
facing a mountain through a window
a world drenched in water
wet season everywhere
mud and flooding rivers
buffaloes relaxing and white herons resting on their backs
between the drizzle
i sit and watch the beauty of the tropical countryside
the trees and hills and huts and houses
and horses and cows...

no snow, and not that harshly cold, this Eden
of the orient seas!

It Is Raining Now....Wow!

Dense clouds pregnant with rain
Welcome some, others disdain.

Under the spell of monsoon
Some cry and others croon.

Rains, both awful and awesome
Waiting a year, for its welcome.

Bringing forth different emotions
Smiles, horror, anguish and satisfaction.

Drizzle brings dating couple to smile
hand in hand, enjoy walking a mile.

Intermittent rains make children happy
knocking out heat from their company.

Torrents create panic in traffic wards
deluge warns flood on the cards.

Simple rain soothing the nerves
greenery laps it up with all its verves.

Incessant rains bring no relief
slum dwellers are left to grieve.

Harvesting rain makes some sense
providing water during dry months.

Strange, rains need no stage
churning elixir as well horror in rage.

Rain dance and make us dance
opened heavens give us a chance.

Creating a rhythm like bharatanatayam
life in rains is simply awesome.

Enacting different rasas sometimes in 30 minutes
weathermen watching keenly, its performance.

Like rainbows, rain brings colour and vigour
Life line of my country, let us all cheer.

In Hot Pursuit on Our Trail

When we made a fleeting visit to that highland,
in East Khasi Hills, Cherrapunji where perennial rainfall
keeps it the wettest place by both monsoonal winds.
The sky was blue with fleecy clouds
and in occasional slight drizzles we roamed happily.
We looked around lush green forests in the vales down
but no grassy stretch, the sheep found there to graze.
In parky weather, the pale-faced tribes live in small shelters.
We drove slowly to the border of Bangaladesh
and came back to the plateau in the evening.

Suddenly the Sun hid Himself somewhere above
and a frightening monstrous wave of darker clouds
was chasing behind our car like the tsunami - tidal waves.
The driver was in his highest speed but he stopped the car
when the rainy clouds shrouded the whole place.
We remained there in a darker world and a heavy downpour
was giving us a tumultuous welcome with noisy claps.
Half an hour later, the road was visible.
No floods! No pools! Rain- water took to its heels
washing away the paltry soil to the slopes around.
Rains will be downswing in the end of September
but that day’s wonderful feast to us was from the Heavens!

Popular Scrips

If today
one is a galloping horse
to give you a fortune
tomorrow
the same may stand panting dead as an ass

as one sees a galloping scrip
we tend to feel
'ah i should have owned some of it'
strangely though
if you already own the scrip that is galloping
it is time for you to disown it
similarly strange it is
when tomorrow the same stands dead as an ass
you go all out to buy and own it

this aspect of the horse and the ass
in a popular scrip
the galloping and panting
of the popular scrips
keeps the market vibrant

Sidelined

A sorcerer moon was rising
amidst grizzly clouds.
A lurid willingness of night
to surrender was evident-
skimming the stars.

A pact was inked between an
antiheroine and a renegade.
An apostate-
will find the refuge in serenades.

The feline grace jars the sexism
by sitting on the fence.
A blue ocean will churn out
the urn of lethal poison.

That flame. Can you kill
the wolf? The tricks of
child-molesting were
on the big screen.

Pedring

when you said you were coming
the men have already prepared the boats
and the women
their food for the kids

when the clouds drift away and
comes the darker ones
the roads have become deserted
and the city as silent
as a cemetery

nevertheless they know when you come and rage
and everything has prepared for the worst

trees fell last night
the boulevard cracked
and engines of cars drowned

and then the rains fall
all eyes stare forming images

that eventually do not come true
i sleep.

Holy Blunder

Clouds in the skies; clouds in the skies; clouds, clouds
Clouds in the skies; some clustering; some cluttering
Some straying; some strewing; all in one yonder
Like free floating vices and flouted virtues

Amongst myriad murky Stygean stratus
One cumulus, shining bright and smiling white
Like a lucky rich man amongst fated poor
Leering, jeering, raving in sway and sashey

“My one misdirected beam made him gleam”
Bemused waning God Sun, “how this happened
Of one breed are all clouds; running in them same
Vapour-blood; façade is due to my light shed”

“Oh! Idiotic white clouds! This is not good!
Don’t swagger because of my one holy blunder
On the day apocalyptic winds wiggle
Every cloud has to melt down into drizzle”

Rain Song

I dont think about us much anymore
Frankly, the topic has become a bore
And you dont come up much in my conversation
I dont think about you on vacation
But when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
Thats when I remember
Thats when I remember
I remember you
I remember you
I dont think about you when Im sleeping
It doesnt even cross my dreamlike mind
I dont think I see your face through the curtains
Hell, I dont even miss you half the time
But when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
Thats when I remember
Thats when I remember
I remember you
I remember you
Im doing fine as long as you stay locked up
Inside a cloud of grey
Rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain
Rain, rain, rain
But when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
But when it rains
When it rains
When it rains
Thats when I remember
Thats when I remember
I remember you
I remember you
Well thats when I remember
The only time I remember
When I remember you

The clouds are

The clouds are long distance travellers
Equally care free with a stumbling little baby
Freedom is its aim and it enjoys sailing
Rains are its blessing when it is very happy.

Clouds move village to village, country to country
And looks our beloved ones and bring their touch
As in the touch of rains, we get something
Really you are a true friend and continue moving.

Abaude: Morning Rain

Living trees, grass rising
from dark cool soil

Roses, like blood from a wound
rise above a common weed.

Its fugitive life persists
evading my brutal hands.

November rains
provoke darker green

Dim clouds pour
solemn waterfalls

Holy tears renew
the life of our dark world.

Still Drops Fall

Still drops fall
while a child cries, while the day dies
and dark is the sky
covered in clouds, darker than night

while for money men do terrible things
and factories produce at any cost,
even the lost of clean air,
the destruction of the ozone layer,
even if it causes seasons to change,
deserts to form and rain to pour down
in great floods

and the echoes of war machinery rings
with super powers raiding
for scarce resources,
with politicians telling lies,
covering their actions
with self inflicted military assaults

and hungry the starving man
is covered with falling drops
far too late for his scorched crops

lightning bolts are echoing
are coming down in blue-white flashes
and a barely solvent commercial farmer looses
his last stock
being killed from electric shock,

hammering rain pours down,
flooding cities and towns
causing havoc to the ordinary man

and the catastrophe is man made
sprouting from the need to own,
sprouting from greed

and still drops fall
while a child cries, while the day dies
and dark is the sky
covered in clouds, darker than night.

Are You The One?

Runs to you without stopping,
As a child just starts walking,
Are you the one, composed the tune,
That plays in his mind and are you the one,
Ordered the clouds to drizzle at her heart?
Are you the one, having the magical wand,
To address the clime in various names?
Are you the one, collaborate with the sky,
To change into beautiful colors and shy,
She is, to look into your eyes and smile?
Are you the one, heard her whispering,
From the long distance of many miles?
Are you the one, as clear as the vapor,
Spread everywhere and then condense into water?

my colors are my moods
' i am' light blue when i'm at peace
' i am ' dark blue when i'm troubled
' i am ' dark clouds when i cry for justice
' i am ' light clouds when i'm in thought
the stars are my teeth in a smile
with the universe.
the lightning bolts is my anger in full fury.
the heavy rains are my tears.

the light rains is my contentment
of a new birth.
the rainbows is my heart at rest.

Pink Skies Tonight, Shepards Delight

Pink skies tonight
is a shepard's delight
to me its a heart filling sight
swirling colours crack out through sun's light
suffocating clouds coil into a rainbow swirl
brilliant shades of gold turn silver to the world
as stars take their righful places in the sky
a dreamy sight to anyone's eyes
pinker planes turn darker still
with the clouds drinking in their fill
the skies grow darker untill
pink skies vanished, stars to replace
clouds turned invisible, wished away in haste
it had all began and faded far too soon
to replaced with the darkness of a circle
surrounding the moon
