Where Magic Lives

the fairies of glendalough
very beautiful and each one unique
live in the intensely green forest
with the unicorns of mystique

with brownies of mischief
elves to watch the path
in harmony with the mischievous
the elves dance and laugh

a special plan of the fairy princess
at the summer's eve feast
she would celebrate this evening
with her friends, from the east

not only with her kingdom
but also with her newest friends
before the full moon rises
before the summer's end

this i wish to share with you
love reigns in the kingdom-
even all the fairies know- when
acts of kindness, are rarely seldom

you will see the sun shines brighter
the sky is more blue
with these magical words
sweetheart I love you

Friends

In the fairy kingdom of the secret realm
the princess has very special friends
honeybees and butterflies
ladybugs and fireflies

oh yea she has enemies also
they live by the cool blue lake
there is python poison snake
mad widow spider
mr. green lizard
and one mean wizard

who all wish to take over
the fairy princess kingdom
and end the fairy freedom

then there is venus-
the fly trap
who isn't taking anyone's side
she wants to eat them all
even the fairies who love to play,
dance at twilight and fly away

Where Do The Fairies Go?

I was eating a fairy cake the other morn, when I thought I wonder if it's true that for every baby born, a fairy god mother is sworn.

Well now I have grown up, can I still speak to the fairies or am I just away with?

I seem to think I know they are there, but where have they gone?

I don't remember ever seeing one, what do they look like, are they pixies, elves or just plain sprite?

I have heard is possible to see, but that is only by those who believe, or is it just for those inclined spiritually?

Well my fairy cake tasted just nice. Maybe the cake is blessed by fairies, hence their name, or maybe fairies are just another bed-time story again?

A Song Of Faries

Flitter flutter here and there
Flying high up in the air
Fairy dust is just so fragile
And the fairies flying are all so agile
And sparkles in the sun
Oh looking for fairies is so much fun
Under some rocks or under a pot
Flying around a twisted vine knot
Under the tree is where the fun begins
all of our faces bearing grins
That’s me and my fairy friends

They lead me to the river they lead me to its spring
The lead to their castle to see the fairy king
Its pearly white with lots of land
Wow this place is very grand
I hop inside to take a peek
Me and the fairies play hide and seek

That night I share a bedroom with a little girl called sky
I like her lots ‘cause she’s my friend even if she’s shy
The sun shines through my window bright as bright can be
I hop out of bed with a big sigh of glee
Because today’s the day when I go home
To where I live back in Italy, Rome

I wave goodbye to my fairy friends
And tie together all loose ends
So goodbye fairies I’ll visit you soon
In the dead of night under the misty moon

Unicorns and Myth

Many moons ago, England had its myths,
Stories of fairies, leprechauns and unicorns,
Who lived in a mythological land,
Where mystery and magic still stand,
For the forest were dark and dangerous places,
The unsuspecting walking through their depths,
Knowing the magical creatures watching over their steps,
Protecting them from the devil that hides in the dark,
Shadows waiting in the tall trees,
But nature has always had its power in magic,
White witches harnessing nature's secret power,
The plants and trees that surround and fill the forest,
Magic and myth to be found in the dark green leaves,
For the forest contains many secrets,
Many secrets where unicorns run at the witching hour,
Or the moon sharing her secret power,
And there are many beautiful flowers,
Blooming, even in the dark,
The fairies sprinkling their magic dust,
To make mushrooms and petals grow,
The forest rich with its vast, magical beauty,
That has captured the imagination of all who see.

Folklore for Children (1) and (2)

(1)

Won't you listen in my garden
to the tapping dancing feet
and the singing of the fairies
playing violins so sweet?

Won't you listen to the pixies
and the fairy queen's refrain,
songs of romance, songs of folklore
or do the fairies sing in vain?

Come and join these mystic beings
with pretty wings of fairest hue
delightful elves and friendly fairies
will sing and dance each day for you.

(2)

Down in yonder Elfin Park
Fairies play upon the swing.
Mother nature makes her mark
Saying 'au revoir' to spring.

Summertime is entering in
Fairy Queen begins to sing
No longer dark in Elfin Park
Sunbeams light the fairy ring.

Pretty Queen has lost her heart
True love to her is everything
And if we walk through Elfin Park
Bells will surely 'ting-a-ling'.

My Return To The Magical Mystery Tree

Many kids run through the grass
Playing whatever game they've chosen

Passing them by
I walk up to the magicial mystery tree

I've paid a visit to the magicial mystery
tree before
And some have said that they can see
on the tree, a door
And some have said that they never saw
anything on the tree

I can see the door
But it's locked up tight
And try as I may
I can't unlock it
Not even with the help of the sunlight

Some say there's a whole different world
inside the magical mystery tree
Some say that only fairies and their friends
live inside the magical mystery tree
But no one knows for sure

So
After a few minutes in thought
Thinking of what I should do in the meantime
at the magical mystery tree
I decide to leave some very small gifts behind
for the fairies and their friends

Leaving behind some flowers and jewels
for the fairies and their friends
I certainly hope they'll enjoy them
I place near the door of the magical mystery
tree

After that
I realize I'm all done here
I gaze at the magical mystery tree for a few
moments
Until I realize it's time for me to be on my way

Looking at the magical mystery tree one last
time
I smile
Then I turn and walk away

Enjoy the gifts I've left behind
Fairies and friends

The Quest

Once upon a time a princess
was in distress
in a beautiful country
called Ireland
the handsome knight came
to impress
and to win the
princess hand

the knight set off
on the quest
to return the pot of gold at the
end of the rainbow
as the beautiful princess
had request

the brave knight was
eager to begin
everyone had faith in the knight
for he was the champion
this quest he was determined
to win

there were quite a few mean trolls
taking a stand
the whole kingdom was
in an uproar
they came from England to
take over the land

the knight set out on a
path of danger
flying overhead was a great dragon
keeping an eye on the unicorn
things couldn't get
much stranger

the knight met with the fairies
who came up with a plan
to buy the magic wand from the
leprechaun if he can

in an instant the rainbow
did appear
the brave knight returned the pot of
gold to his princess
and everyone in the kingdom
gave a great cheer

Midsummer's day

Fairies' power is its strongest,
When the day is at its longest,
Around the flames of a bonfire,
The night's magic will transpire,
Our thanks gets given to the sun,
Before long summer will be done,
Long summer days we will soon miss,
Sunlight ebbs past the summer solstice,
Once the sun appears in the East,
It's time to ready for a feast,
Stay out long into the evening,
There's festivities and dancing,
Spent within the warm evening air,
There are smiles to share everywhere,
It's light close to the midnight hour,
Making shine many a flower.

The Fairy Dance

Down by the lake
Where the weeping willows rest
Where no-one goes
The fairies dance

At midnight
When the inky sky
Is sprinkled with stars
The fairies dance

They sit on toadstools
Wear clothes made of petals
And round the flowers
The fairies dance

On the lake
Boats made of leaves
And all around
The fairies dance

They stay till dawn
When the sun rises
But under the inky sky
The fairies dance

Let's have some fun

Let’s have some fun,
And be wild together,
We can scream and laugh,
Then jump and play.

We can have so much fun together,
We’ll chase each other all around,
We will talk about things,
Some people won’t understand,
Or don’t know who or what we are talking about.

Let’s have some fun,
We can annoy so many people,
Including the ones we know and love,
It’s so fun seeing them react.

Let’s confuse so many people,
With the words we say,
And the things we do,
They can look at us weird,
And think we’re crazy,
But we’ll continue on what we love to do.

Let’s have some fun,
We can plan what we would do,
We can do it now,
So we won’t have the problem so much later.

We have so many ideas,
Before school ends this summer,
But as soon as it starts again,
And we gained new friends,
Then we’ll have plenty new ideas for each other to share.

Let’s have some fun,
And try to enjoy life,
It might not be how we like it,
But as long as the people we know are there,
We can enjoy everything we have.

We can enjoy our laugh as one,
Then try not to think about the past,
But think about the people we love,
The ones who are around the most.

Lets have some fun,
Before we part this summer,
We should have those wonderful memories of one another,
Those memories will be with us,
No matter where we go,
Or what we do,
Either together or apart.

Do you believe in magic?

Do you believe in magic?
Of fairies wings
And pixie dust flirting
Through wonderous scenes
Of griffins flying
Through open skies
Mermaids singing
A sweet lullabye
Unicorns running
Through flames of flowers
Centaurs racing
Galloping free
As hobbits dance
In the forest green
Leprechaun's cobbling
And banshees screams
Manticors and hippogriffs
Dwarves and elves
There's so much more
Do you believe in magic?
I hope you do
For if you dont
You truly have no imagination
And shall boringly wait
Before Deaths door

Fairy Wings

There's a fairy sitting by the pool making fairy wings. from gossamer
and spider webs and silk worm's silk and things.
In summer-time they have a ball; the elves and gnomes come one and all.
The music's played in trumpet flowers; the ball goes on for hours and hours. As dawn begins to break and people start to rise,
the fairies clear their tables for they are very wise.
They know NOT to leave things around to show folk where they dwell.
For maybe curious folk will want to live with them as well.
But fairy-land is fairy-land and humans can't intrude.
For THEY are known to be polite and some of US are rude.
Don't go in search of fairies. Don't cause these ones to grieve.
Let's not disturb their habitat. Be humble and believe.
We've all seen sparkling cobwebs and flowers of every hue
The sweet, sweet honey nettle and buttercups filled with dew.
Remember there are fairies running all around, but sure enough not
one of them ever has been found.
Let your imagination, the wonder of make-believe, take you to a wonderland grown-ups have had to leave.
So if you should see cobwebs, sparkling dew and fairy rings
Remember that somewhere close by they're making fairy wings.

The Fairy's Promise

Poet.
Beautiful silver-winged spirits of good,
That hide in the leaves of the loneliest wood;
Green-kirtled fairies whom none may see
But the soul that hath passion for Poesie.
Brownies and kelpies and fays and elves
Who keep the moon to your own little selves;
Ye whose light revel and quick-tripping round
Bend the white daisy-buds down to the ground:
The moon may be high and the night may be clear,
But leave them and list to a poet's prayer.

Fairy.
Mortal, speak on! we have loved thee long,
Thou hast told of our revels in sweetest song;
And only, alas! by the faith of men
Hold we our lives in the grassy glen.
Thou hast never plucked daisy or heather-bell
From the emerald braes where the fairies dwell;
Thou didst never fright from her leafy nest
The bird that the Fairies love ever the best,
But hast turned thy foot aside silently
When her round black eye fell fearful on thee;
Thou hast never torn fishes with cruel hooks
From the pleasant ripple of summer brooks;
So we love thee well, and will list to thy prayer,
Though the moon may be up, and the night may be clear.

Poet.
White-footed Fairy-Queen, close by the sea,
Like a beautiful child at her father's knee,
There sitteth a city beneath a hill
Where a lady is living apart and still;
Lovely and gentle and wise is she,
I love her most truly and faithfully;
Better than all that the world may hold,
Better than honour and life and gold.
I would thou shouldst watch her by day and by night,
That her beautiful eyes may be ever bright.

Fairy.
How shall we know her, that we may keep
Watch of her waking, and ward of her sleep?

Poet.
Look for a lady whose glossy hair
Borders a forehead most frank and fair;
Eyes that are full of a heavenly light
Like sister stars in the front of night;
Lips curving red like the crimson fold
Of a half-shut rose in the early cold,
Which never with singing or speech were stirred,
But the singing and speech was the sweetest heard;
Busy white fingers, slender and small,
Little feet lost in her garments' fall.
Graces like these and a thousand above
Shall guide thee in seeking the lady I love.

Fairy.
What name weareth she? tell us it true;
Whisper it low to the fairy crew.

Poet.
Read it, sweet Queen, on my beating heart,
Graven so deep, it can never part;
This shall be sign of the lady ye seek,
Say to her 'Janet' and she shall speak.

Fairy.
Fifty and four of my valiant fays
Shall watch in her walks through the weariest days;
Fifty and four in their liveries white
Have charge of her dreams in the dreariest night.
And the spirit that doth not his bidding well
Shall pine for the year in a dark nut shell.

Poet.
And may two of the truest at either ear
Whisper his name who hath sent them there!

Fairy.
Ay! and the fleetest shall come on the wind
Bringing thee news of thy lady's mind;
Rest thee well, lover! be quiet and calm;
Thy lady is charmed with the Fairies' charm.

Show Some Love

In fairyland all the fairies
Love to laugh and play-
Even all the fairies know
Poets who are sweet and kind
With a sense of humour
Are the best of friends
You don't have to look hard to find
A real friend, who will laugh and play
If you know how to be a friend-
Even all the fairies know
If you haven't anything nice to say
Don't create a bad day..
If you are a real poet or poetess
Show some love, if not go away!

To the Faerie Lady

I once believed in fairies,
Pixies, elves, and such,
But as I grew, I thought I knew
That they were just too much.
I lived my humdrum life each day,
To work and then back home;
The years flew by, and with them I
Forgot of elves and gnomes;
Until I met a tender soul
Who believed in fairy lore,
And showed me things like fairy rings
Till I believed once more.

Holly Bush

The Holly Bush

It was in the depth of winter
When snow lay crisp upon the ground
That I saw the tiny creatures
Which fluttered all around.

I stepped into the garden
To see what the fuss was all about.
There was a fairy trapped in my holly bush
And her friends were trying to pull her out.

But the sharp leaves stabbed at wings
And they tangled up long hair
As the fairies attempted their rescue.
They weren’t getting anywhere.

The fairies saw me on the garden path
And that I was getting near
They hid behind my chimney stack
And cried aloud in fear.

‘Stop being silly now, ’ I told them
As I carefully pulled the fairy free.
‘My name is Buttercup’, she said
As she explained to me.

That she had been stealing the berries
To plant down in the wood
Because there was no holly left.
She was really trying to be good.

‘People like holly for Christmas
But some of them dig up all the trees.
They don’t leave anything for the birds
So, can we have some berries, please.’

I did not want my little friend
To take another fall
So I helped to pick some berries
And said I did not mind at all.

The other fairies came to thank me
Then taking a berry each, off they flew
But Buttercup waited by my side
There was something else she had to do.

She waved her hand up in the air
And her dress changed to green and red
‘This will remind me of your holly bush
And your kindness, ’ the fairy said.

So, if you find a fairy in your garden
With a dress of red and green
Please, allow her to steal some berries
For it is my friend that you have seen.

The Rose Fairy

When God created the very first rose,
All the forest fairies were thrilled!
They formed a queue to line up for a smell,
Each swooning at its delightful fragrance.
The king of the fairies called them to his throne,
Reminding them that each flower is blessed,
With each one appointed its own fairy...
But who could they choose for the rose! ?

All the fairies not yet appointed flew near,
Each pointing to herself as the right choice!
Then the queen of the fairies calmed them down,
'Settle down, impetuous ones! ' she said...
So all the female fairies flapped their wings no more,
Settling once again upon the ground...
'Come, come! ' she scolded! 'None of you will do! '
The fairies' faces went blood red with shame!

The king looked at them in turn, loving them all.
Such enthusiasm, such devotion, but who would do?
The queen pointed directly to the king himself!
'You, Your Majesty, you must be the rose fairy! '
'What! ? ' remarked the king! 'That's unheard of! '
She held his hand with love and told him,
'There's no-one greater than you for this rose! '

The fairies leapt with joy! Flying here and there!
Doing athletics flips and backward somersaults!
When the king saw the joy of all the fairies, he smiled.
He was humbled by this wondrous spectacle
And he stood up, wiped away a tiny tear and told them,
'Never has a king been so blessed as I feel today! '

And so it was that the rose fairy was announced.
And God looked down upon the fairies in the forest
And smiled... and smiled... and smiled...

Dancing with the fairies

Walking through the fields
I saw a fairy dancing.
The fairy was so pretty
Dancing in the moonlight.

Translucent were the wings
Majestic was her dress.
Her hair, the wind did ruffle
A melody, her lips released.

Then the fairy took notice
Of my ever present eyes.
And so she called to me
To come and dance with her.

She starts to dance once more
Leaping through the air.
I followed her and twirled
And tried to dance like her.

Then a million fairies
Suddenly did appear.
A million tiny voices
Singing a tiny harmony.

Such a magnificent sight it was
Such a lovely dance.
Their tiny bodies flitting
And dancing in the moonlight.

I jumped and leaped and twirled
Dancing with the fairies.
I danced there in the starlight
With a million pretty fairies.

Time flew by and all too soon
The sun awoke and peaked at us.
The fairies stopped their dancing
And flew away for home.

But one fairy stayed behind
She did not go to bed.
She looked at me with sparkling eyes
The wonderful dancing fairy.

I saw her eyes did twinkle
And her hair in the wind did wave.
And then she dipped a curtsy
And on her way she flew.
That little dancing fairy.

Mandolins

Hear the mandolins play like summer
Rain pounds my steeple soul
Integration is a dream of gardens
Amidst universal stars I cry
Amidst winds of azure I laugh
Between the plague and shoreline
Illumined poetry by the sea
Seagulls and tides evangelize
Poetry as sweet as rainbows
Mercy soothes the troubled life
Psychosomatic angst
Music heals like songbirds

You my love bring me hope
I cannot worry about everything
I must do my part
I must always see beauty
Some seem prone to despair
Cynical words run like sewers
Wondrous sky has no cynicism
Blue shines like another kingdom
Acoustic guitars like free forests
Love has elves and rivers
Love has beauty and gentle fields
Love has stars and moonlight

Listen to the mandolins ring
