A Flash of Life

I don't remember those days
That room has been re-painted
So many times since then
In so many different ways

She just vanished in the air
Like a wisp of smoke circling
Swirling, then gone forever
I never thought I would care

Her smile was all too fleeting
It became a speck of dust
Landing somewhere on the floor
The proof was my heart beating

Then I peeked into that room
There was no paint on those walls
A wisp became her in flesh
And she smiled at me, her groom

A snap and seventy years
I never saw her again
Anywhere or anytime
She left me with just my tears

A Wisp Of Mist

Was that a wisp of mist I saw, swirling across the lawn,
Drifting through the shrubbery, this early November’s dawn.
Frost had gathered on the grass, making it all crisp and white,
And so a chilly day has shown a vision of delight.

Winter’s fingers are moving and the land begins to freeze,
Dressed in a silver blanket by nature’s great expertise.
Icy world of sparkle, a unique transformation seen,
As a wisp of mist goes swirling slowly across the green.

Wisp of love

O' wisp of love
so delicate,
barely
discernable

burgeoning cautiously
perhaps
predetermined
by fate

O' wisp of love
cries out
to be heard

regardless of
it's destiny,
irrational as it may be

O' wisp of love
refuses to be still
ever stirring within us
which ever way it befalls

it will be....
it must be.

A Thought Forgotten

rain swept branches strewn,
small testaments of living.
frail egos broken
in morning sunlit pieces.
of such is life...
hands made of flesh
building hearts.
storms come unannounced,
and forever shattered.
the rain soaks the embers,
a thin wisp of smoke.
stirred by the stick of time,
praying for flame.

are we then fire,
or just smoke?
smalls branches clinging
to the tree...
lightning in the distance,
or hearts made of thunder?
buds on the broken branch,
or the fleeting instant
of the storm's fury?
all of these, or something else,
or a thought forgotten
by a lonesome God?

The Light Kampong

duh gusti
here very near to you
but very far you've come
me lowly
just a speck of dust
how quiet
in your room too far
my wanderings will not be able to reach you
my tears could not achieve my longing

duh gusti, my beloved
if you teach me arithmetic
only 10 fingers of mine
but can not afford the billions of
i remember
remember of you were only a fingers
constellations of the pulse
why do always come up empty?
in cold-room space

duh gusti
within a short memory
eyes are blinded
throne which includes 20 billion years
billions of light
and the throne of the heart of nature
slave longing for home
to your kampong

A Room In My Heart

My heart was once just like a home
With many rooms and open doors
And I always let love in
It would change the rooms around and then
Leave them empty

'Til one by one I locked each door
And soon forgot what love was for
But I never gave up hopin'
So I left just one door open
In case you found me

So there's a room in my heart for you
If your trust has been stolen too
If you walk softly on this worn out wooden floor
And leave behind you the hurt you've had before
There's a room in my heart for you

We'll paint the walls from blue to white
And set the mood by candlelight
Together we'll keep out the cold
And I'll still be there when we're old
If you'll let me

So there's a room in my heart for you
If your trust has been stolen too
If you walk softly on this worn out wooden floor
And leave behind you the hurt you've had before
There's a room in my heart for you

A Child

Little wisp of wonderment,
All the world your doll!
Hugging it in huge content,
Little wisp of wonderment;
Life has only laughter sent—
Everything is droll:
Little wisp of wonderment,
All the world your doll.

These Walls

If these walls could talk,
I wonder what what would they say
Would they thank me for being painted
Or will they ask me, to wash the paint away.
Would they tell me of the pictures
That once hung upon them their
Pictures that once adorn those walls
Or I wonder would they even care.
Would they speak upon the stories
That was heard within these walls
That no one else even knows about,
That is if the stories these walls could recall.
Was there children laughter all about
Or any secrets heard and being told
I wonder what have they listened to
And I wonder if anyone will ever know.
These walls inside this house
That for years have stood alone
With the stories that was told and heard
While this house had became a home.
The Sadness that they might had seen
And the worries and sorrow that they felt
Maybe they don't want to remember it at all
And maybe they too keep it bottled upon their self.
Were they painted to cover up secrets
Was they battered as to protect someone's lies
Or were they wallpapered to cover up the truth
And did they hear the whispers and the cries.
These walls they are still standing
Through the years of the days and nights
While listening and knowing all done and said
In the darkness and also in the light.
I look at these walls just one last time
As I head home from my walk,
How I wish I knew what they heard and know,
But that is, if these walls could only talk.

Perhaps I Will Never More See Him

Perhaps I will never more see him we shook hands in saying goodbye
He seems to be getting quite feeble he turned seventy four last July
He suffers of asthma and emphysema the years on him are taking toll
Time does not wait for anybody and growing old is beyond our control,
A generous and kind hearted old fellow and one who
has a 'heart of gold'
And wise in the ways of the World 'tis sad to see him growing frail and old
I am leaving soon for to live elsewhere and him I may never more meet
The old bloke who lives in the one room flat in the retirement Village off of the Main Street
On shaking hands with him in parting the tears I struggled to contain
Perhaps this goodbye is forever and perhaps I won't see him again
He smiled and said see you soon I answered surely at such a time one has to pretend
For his sake I hid from him the way I was feeling to me he is such a dear friend
I must say he looks rather feeble and is showing every one of his years
We shook hands and as I walked homewards my eyes misted over with tears.

I Remember Love

(graham russell, michael sherwood)
Ive been staring at the floor
And Ive been holding back the tears
And Id been talking to the walls
If the walls had ears
And now it seems that every time
I look into your eyes
There is only so far I can see
(chorus)
So take me back there
Where only we can go
When you touch me the memories unfold
And I remember love
I remember love
Do you remember love?
Ive been looking to the future
And Ive been dreaming of our past
But now Im counting on this moment
cause it may be the last
And days go by and still I try
To reach into your soul
There is only so far I can go
(chorus)
Remember the times when our world was alive
And all of the answers were clear
Remember the times when our souls would ignite
And passion explodes into tears
And I remember love
I remember love
Do you remember love?

Wil-O-the-Wisp

Enchanted Wil-O-The Wisp Wanderer
You cannot escape his sea-blue
Eyes View
For set in water they are
Upon this beautiful form
Of You
Cladden In White Chantilly Lace
A flowing gown of floral crochet
But somewhat sheer in certain light
Seen in his eye near the bay
You walk along the sands O' time
Upon the shorelines
Passing Scene
O' enchanted Wil-O-The-Wisp Wanderer
You are the woman of his dreams
His sea of blue eyes come calling
Beckoning you away from the shore
Perhaps, anew, A Mermaid borne
And a Wil -O- The- Wisp Wanderer
No More

Dreamland Adventure

Everything is beautiful
There is no evil to be attached
the floors swirl inviting you in
the room flourished with colours
flowers flow from the earthly walls
giggling and laughing for you to walk further
at the the other end of the room a mirror takes form
the reflection reveals a face that hold no shadows
A smile that sparkles through the eyes
looking in the mirrow little faces look back
all smiling and singing a melody
convincing you that you're a fairy
a fairy princess that has invisible wings
fly, fly, believe it and you'll fly
happiness is all there is and to pretend is easy
slowly floating above the swirling floor
you soar past the walls
touch the ground thats white as snow
what you're standing on is a cloud
In the mystical world where you're closer to the moon
the glittering stars that shimmer down upon you
Laying down on the cloudland staring at the sky
the star dust trickles closer towards you
with a deep breath that warms your entire body
You know that everything is wonderful
Even though it wont last forever no fear tingles inside
It is enivitable to find sorrow again
but you can live in the magic only if the soul believes

This Morning

Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing left to give
Nothing more in you
Nothing else to have or hold
Nothing left, but time to go
Time to go
Years go by
Didn't really say that much at all
And moments just fly
Didn't ever really touch at all
Weeks always run down
Didn't really get that close at all
And days, days fall out
Didn't ever really know at all
And then we're here in a room too clean and too bright
She stares at you for an hour
You stare into the light
For one last hour in the room
So mean and so white
I stare at her in this room as she stares into the night
Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing left to ask
Nothing more of you
Nothing else to share or show
Nothing left but time to go
In his eyes as we turn no eternity of life
In his eyes as we turn no infinity of why
In his eyes as we turn no beautiful goodbye
In his eyes as we turn...nothing but tears
In his eyes as we turn...nothing but tears
(spoken:) I couldn't understand too much of what was being said
In a matter of minutes
Peacefully so slow
I had to think to breathe
My heart burst
We moved in silence really slowly away from the world
As we drove a strange silence
That moment
Nothing will ever be the same
Nothing will ever be the same
Nothing will ever be the same
Days fall out
Weeks always run down
Moments just fly
Weeks go by
And then we're here
And then we're here in a room too clean and too bright
I stare at you for an hour
You stare into the light
For one last hour in the room so mean and so white
You stare at me in this room as I stare into the night
Nothing left to feel
Nothing more to do
Nothing more to take
Nothing more from you
Nothing else to need or know
There's nothing left at all...but time to go

Distorted Beauty

She was a small girl, the proof being the tiny soccer cleats
lying on the floor, and the low down marks on the wall
marking her height; and the pictures on her wall show
she is the only brunette in a family of blondes; the belts
lying on her floor had extra holes poked in them
to accommodate for her unnatural skinniness;
her clothes consisted of dark colors meant to keep
her constantly hidden in the background.

Her room was always messy, she was never
organized enough to keep it clean; and pictures
had been painted onto the walls as proof of
her artistic talent; she did not have any clothes
with horizontal stripes, she was too afraid
they might make her look fat; Her school
books are scattered on her desk, all with many
dog-eared and well-worn pages.

In the morning she sleeps in just long enough
to rush out the door without breakfast; at lunch
she claims she isn’t feeling well enough to eat;
when time for dinner comes she hides herself in
her room; everyday she wastes away a little more,
and yet she is still not happy with her weight;
however, she refuses to admit her problem and
that she needs help.

Her Hands Are Stronger Now

she greets you by the door. She knows you are coming.
Her heart pounds for you.
She shows the room. It looks for you for many years.
Now she brags the room is alive.
she opens the window and lets the air
and the trees know that you are here finally.
they all talk about you know.
they nod, you are no longer a dog.
Or a parakeet.
The chair opens its arms for you.
You take your seat. She asks you if you miss coffee.
Black coffee, without sugar.
You look around. There is nothing changed here.
20 years ago, all the structures are faithful
to their positions.
They miss you and like to embrace you.
She is restrained like a dam.
No tears this time.
Not even some tears of joy.
She knows why you are here.
The room, the tree and the window,
the floors are blind.

She knows that this will be the last time
of your compromise.
She is dead 20 years back
when you told her
about the truth.

How can she feel like the room, the floor,
the tree and the window
How can she be as foolish as air and cloud?

Her hands are strong now.
They write her name, her signature to sorrow.
Her heart notes the final statement.

Life is over.
Game is over.

A Story Of Bad Karma

the curtain in the room is transparent
silky, embroidered with tiny light red flowers

light is filtered and air is lazy
laughter is restrained at first until the drinks come

glasses click and talks are varied
times come anew
memories of faces come out from the graves of our
forgetfulness

the room soon is filled with smoke
men smoke and women sip wine on their warm sides

the lives of other people start to be opened
the talkers are surgeons scrutinizing the intestines and bladders

there is a small man whose hands are like cold forks
he is looking at the fat man puffing smoke and bragging about his gains

fortunes backed by crimes and
money laundered and shared in secrets by conspiracies

no one notices a bee landing on the navel of the fat man
whose belly comes out from his tight shirt

instantly the bee left a sting
and the man died.

A Deformed Angel

Sometimes life gives us severe shock,
Undermines the plans and does block,
The ways of wisdom leading ahead,
Reveals the hands that secretly mock.

An artist thought to paint an angel,
To use the brush for the masterpiece,
But could not conceptualize the image,
Beauty combining innocence, purity.

One morn, at last, he luckily found,
A child playing on the grassy ground,
Having angelic countenance and grace,
Incarnation he was of sublime serenity.
Painted he the angel with skill utmost,
And earned he the world wide fame.

And he after three full fleeting decades,
Thought for the second master-sketch,
Now not of an angel, but of a devil.
He sought for the image far and wide,
But could not find corresponding one,
Fate then led him amid the prison walls,
There inside met he a young wretch man,
With a devilish nature, face and frame.

The master revealed his intent to paint,
Tears came in eyes of the devil formed,
Said he, “Oh! Master it is a matter of woe,
You sketched me an angel thirty years ago.”

A Crooked Smile (song)

With your deep brown eyes
and your crooked smile
you swept me away for
quite a while when you smiled
a crooked smile

Then you came and
asked for a chance
but all I said was
How bout a dance
and then you smiled
A crooked smile

(Chorus)
Now your gone
and I'm missing you
and my broken Heart
wont be in two
when you smile
a crooked smile

Years have passed
and tears have too
but all I know
is I love you
and your smile
your crooked smile

Yesterday when you
got off the plane
you ran to my side
cuz I stood at your gate
and then you smiled
a croooked smile

You pulled me close
and said hello
but I could see
you were being mellow
til you smiled
a crooked smile

(Chorus)
now your here
and I'm loving you
and my broken heart
won't be in two
when you smile
a crooked smile

Moments passed
and memories made
And I know there ain't a better day
then when you smile
a crooked smile

Oh when you smile
my heart goes wild

Flowers - Giving It All Away B-side

Renegades and shifting shades
And the lights in your face
And you friends talk lying
But some of them got flowers in their room
When its on and youre falling on every floor
That youre hoping to score
And youre every night ? ? ?
But some of them got flowers in their room
But some of them got flowers in their room
But some of them got flowers in their room
Hear the word that the man on the stairs
Knows your every affair and is holding your hand
And he says some of them got flowers in their room
And he screams in a face
But the smile on the face is cool and its cold
And it reads vacated
And some of them got flowers in their room
And some of them got flowers in their room
And some of them got flowers in their room
And I take someone home and I cant be alone
And theres faces to please and I walk on the knees
Oh you see, I got no flowers in my room
And I laugh with my mouth and I laugh with you
But the joke was a joke that I never really knew
Some of them got flowers in their room
Some of them got flowers in their room
Some of them got flowers in their room

Wasted Opportunities.

Wasted opportunities haunt the memory of adolescence,
I remember a time within the white room
As smoke bellowed alongside monsoon thunder
I placed resistance before instinct in turning my head from the girl.

These days she runs in frantic routines,
Finding time only once in a while to turn her smile my way.

My earliest memories are of the girl her eyes a blue fantastic
Piercing the hollows of my shell her smile was pure innocence,
Truly the only cure for looking glass blues.

Inside the circle we played amongst the grey
Seeking within the day the words to say to one another.
Paddling throughout infancy, attachments were set in stone
And even now no soul claims priority above the soul that Love forgot,
Not out of carelessness but of an inability to cope with the fact
She was never there to hold me true in embrace.

We were torn, seams worn at such a young age
That she seemed naught but a distant dream
Lost within the journals of memories wandering.

Forever picking up the pieces off the floor
Forever wanting for more, how am I
To grow in appreciation of the moment.

Seeing her again after so many years
Brought naught more than tears to my eyes.
Eros let sail an arrow from his bow,
Failing in stirring her passion he left me wounded
A soul out of fashion with the false idols of media that rule her world.

Make Sure Youve Got It All

Im watching you go from room to room
With all your boxes and your broom
Packing up, sweeping out and taking down
From off the wall
Everything thats part of us
Tear my whole world down if you must
Dont even leave one little speck of dust
Make sure youve got it all
Chorus
Take my heart, take my soul
Take it all with you when you go
Just leave the floor here to catch me when I fall
You stole my pride and dignity
You took it all away from me
Take one last look around, girl, before you leave
Make sure youve got it all
Dont even leave one photograph
The memory of one smile or laugh
Check the closet up in the attic and down the hall
Take your time, take your rings
Take the sandbox and the swings
Without a family theyre just things
Make sure youve got it all
Repeat chorus

Take one last look around, girl, before you leave
Make sure youve got it all
