These Huge Vast Thoughts Of You

These huge vast thoughts of you
prove nothing
except they're too hard to carry.
They're the same old Sisyphean stones
I've been rolling uphill
ever since you left me
standing on quicksand
like a half-finished pyramid
that just lost its reason for dying.
And I'm way past crying.
I'm dark water locked in the heart
of a distant planet
that doesn't support life.
I look up at the nightsky now
remembering you as you were then
and I'm always one house shy of a zodiac.
There.
At the end.
There's a space
where that last sign of you
used to be
and a galactic black hole
that keeps sucking me in
like a bird into a jet engine
to try and see in the dark
if there's a way out of here
I haven't tried before.
I've followed my footprints
like scars in the deserts of Mars.
Using my direction of prayer for a compass
I've been an undercover boyscout
looking for signs of life on Venus.
Now there are too many event horizons between us
too many bent dimensions
too many worlds
too many millions of lightyears away
too many swords and bells
too many full moons
crossed out on the calendar
like Xs on boarded up plague doors
for longing to bridge the gaps
in the unimaginable vastness of space
by jumping from one constellation to the next
like an ancient collection of starmaps
looking for one that shines
as you once did
when things that were hidden
deep in the heart of the night
were revealed
without resorting to signs.
I've never stopped missing you
though it would be good advice
in sensible shoes
if I could.
And it's not out of respect for the dead
that the wound never heals
that parted us like the Red Sea
but more the way love feels
when it's leaving Egypt
for a promised land
it's not allowed to enter.
Which one of us was the cause?
Which one of us was the effect?
How could anyone answer that
when I remember looking at you
through the doorway into your studio
reworking your canvas
over and over again
late into the night
and I used to think
as you mixed your colours like instincts
even our flaws are perfect
when our eyes are a work of love.

Sisyphean

I have felt sisyphean.
Like Sisyphus,
A legendary king of Corinth.
Condemn to repeat the rolling of a boulder,
Uphill!
To have it roll back down as it nears the top.
I had felt that way until I stopped.
Realizing after wiping sweat off my brow...
Why am I allowing this and to whose amusement?
I could whittle this obstacle down,
To then make steps.
Taking on far easier challenges to accomplish.
Than those I already know are monotonous,
With nothing to motivate a desired achievement wished.

Quicksand of Lust

Walking through the jungle
All of the sudden, you’re stuck
With him
Such a happy occasion
Such good luck
You're with him in the quicksand of lust

It's going very slowly
But it's okay
As long as you're together
Nothing else matters in the quicksand of lust

Halfway through
And you're still together
Things look bad
He produces a lever, and pulls himself out
You are left in the quicksand of lust

Nearly over your head
You begin to panic
You're starting to submerge even quicker
Oh no, what’s, this what happened?
You suffocate, alone, in the quicksand of lust

Of Three Or Four In The Room

Out of three or four in the room
One is always standing at the window.
Forced to see the injustice amongst the thorns,
The fires on the hills.

And people who left whole
Are brought home in the evening, like small change.

Out of three or four in the room
One is always standing at the window.
Hair dark above his thoughts.
Behind him, the words, wandering, without luggage,
Hearts without provision, prophecies without water
Big stones put there
Standing, closed like letters
With no addresses; and no one to receive them.

Thanks To The Rolling Sea

(words & music by batchelor - roberts)
Thanks to the rolling, rolling, rolling, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling, rolling, rolling, thanks to the rolling sea
Fish on the table and fish on the fire, fried fish hanging on the tree
Everything here that your heart desires, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling sea
Living is good and living is fine, were happy as can be
We owe all this to the salty brine, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling sea
We work all day but our hearts are gay, and while we work we sing
The mighty sea is good to us and weve got everything
Abalone steaks and tuna fish cakes, taste so heavenly
We know who we owe it to, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling, rolling, rolling, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling, rolling, rolling, thanks to the rolling sea
Thanks to the rolling, rolling, rolling, thanks to the rolling sea

I wonder when i will stop rolling with everyone else
I hear people saying bad things about me it makes me feel that i should kepp rolling intil i am depp in sorrow
I see everyone still while i am rolling all around
I want to stop rolling in deep sorrow
I am rolling in the deep
I pretend to be like everyone else not rolling in deep regret but still, still as life can be

I worry about someone finding out about my deepest darkest secrets
I cry when i can not stop rolling in deep sorrow
I am roliing in the deep
I undersyand that one day i will stop rolling in the deep regret
I i say that no one should be rolling in deeo sorrow but still

And The Money Kept Rolling In (And Out)

Che: And the money kept rolling in from every side

Eva's pretty hands reached out and they reached wide
Now you may feel it should have been a voluntary cause
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling in you don't ask how
Think of all the people guaranteed a good time now
Eva's called the hungry to her open up the doors
Never been a fund like the Foundation Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling on in rolling on in rolling on in rolling on in on in

Would you like to try a college education
Own your landlord's house take the family on vacation
Eva and her blessed fund can make your dreams come true
Here's all you have to do my friends
Write your name and your dream on a card or a pad or a ticket
Throw it high into the air and should our lady pick it
She will change your way of life for a week or even two
Name me anyone who cares as much as Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out on out

And the money kept rolling out in all directions
To the poor to the weak to the destitute of all complexions
Now cynics claim a little of the cash has gone astray
But that's not the point my friends
When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out rolling on out on out

Eva

When the money keeps rolling out you don't keep books
You can tell you've done well by the happy grateful looks
Accountants only slow things down figures get in the way
Never been a lady loved as much as Eva Peron

Rolling rolling rolling
Rolling rolling rolling

Blame It On The Stones

Mister marvin middle class is really in a stew
Wondrin what the younger generations coming to
And the taste of his martini doesnt please his bitter tongue
Blame it on the rolling stones.
Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
Youll feel so much better, knowing you dont stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones
Mother tells the ladies at the bridge club every day
Of the rising price of tranquilizers she must pay
And she wonders why the children never seem to stay at home
Blame it on the rolling stones.
Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
Youll feel so much better, knowing you dont stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones
Fathers at the office, nightly working all the time
Trying to make the secretary change her little mind
And it bothers him to read about so many broken homes
Blame it on those rolling stones.
Blame it on the stones; blame it on the stones
Youll feel so much better knowing you dont stand alone
Join the accusation; same the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the stones
Blame it on the stones, blame it on the stones.

Itch

I am evening the score
I am cutting the umbilical cord
curled with my teeth against my knees
I am scratching at my consciousness
like a bitch with fleas
I think you'll be greatly pleased
to learn that yours was the hardest
itch to relieve

this is me
without my hair
welcome to my open stare
I got nothing to hide no more
why disguise what isn't there
I am an eyesore
I am a detour
you can find me crying on
the shoulder of the road
and I will tell you
what you want to hear
before you go
and that is that
yours was the hardest itch to relieve
yours was the hardest itch to relieve

I've mapped out my course
looks like it's all uphill
I've got a heavy heart to carry
but a very strong will
it's just hard to travel
in the shadow
of regret
in fact it's so hard
that I haven't actually left yet

Dont Rock The Jukebox

(alan jackson/roger murrah/keith stegall)
Dont rock the jukebox
I wanna hear some jones
Cause my heart aint ready
For the rolling stones
I dont feel like rocking
Since my babys gone
So dont rock the jukebox
Play me a country song
Before you drop that quarter
Keep one thing in mind
You got a heartbroke hillbilly
Standing here in line
Ive been down and lonely
Ever since she left
Before you punch that number
May I make one request
Dont rock the jukebox
I wanna hear some jones
Cause my heart aint ready
For the rolling stones
I dont feel like rocking
Since my babys gone
So dont rock the jukebox
Play me a country song
I aint got nothing
Against rock and roll
But when your hearts been broken
You need a song thats slow
There aint nothing like a steel guitar
To drown a memory
Before you spend your money baby
Play a song for me
Dont rock the jukebox
I wanna hear some jones
Cause my heart aint ready
For the rolling stones
I dont feel like rocking
Since my babys gone
So dont rock the jukebox
Play me a country song
Dont rock the jukebox
Play me a country song

Time Itself

Time has presented itself,
Rolling and naming the highest thoughts.
We are uneasy as to which thoughts are correct;
Why do thoughts arrive so highly?
The language of time is here,
We have the roads to all events.
There are holes to fill and findings to make
As you carry your share of time about.
Time is presentable and is leader of all substances.

I Will Not Breakdown

Time was
You could start a revolution with this disillusion I feel
Time was
You would never make a fool of me
Can't see nothing but a violent solution
In this war of confusion in me
I should run from you but I never would be free
I will not breakdown (will you break down)
I will not stand still (are you standing still)
I will not fall to pieces on the floor
Just like you want me to
Time was
We could have a conversation without confrontation and tears
Time was
I wouldn't have to reminisce at all
This time I'm gonna make a move,
I'm gonna make an uphill climb
That's what I've been waiting for
Bad luck, I guess I'm not a bird in your cage no more
I will not breakdown (will you break down)
I will not stadn still (are you standing still)
I will not fall to pieces on the floor
Just like you want me to
There's nothing left for me
Can't you understand it
But something left us here just standing in the burning ashes
There's nothing left for me
It's not the way I planned it
But something left us here just buried in our circumstances
Time was
You could start a revolution with this disillusion I feel
Time was
You would never make a fool of me

You Seem to Have a Purpose in Life

What am I out to prove?
What would make you think,
I am out to prove something?

'Well...
You seem to have a purpose in life.'

And...?

'You seem to have a positive disposition.'

Oookkaayy. And..?

'Well...
You just seem to know where you are going.'

Hmmm...
And you can tell all of that,
By me just standing here waiting for a bus?

'Well,
You have that...
Prosperous demeanor.
You carry yourself like you sniff money all day.
And...
Well,
I was 'hoping' you were standing here,
And waiting for your bus...
With an extra ten bucks in your pocket.'

Are you part of this new job program,
The President is going to announce this Fall?
Huh?
Are you in training to be a tax collector?
Or a comedian?
Which one?
Both of those fields look promising for you.

People are seeking more ways to be entertained.
And you,
My friend...
Sold me on your presence alone,
Immediately.

But no!
If I carried around an extra of anything...
You and I would have never met.
Not at a bustop.
With my wishes it doesn't rain,
Before I get home.

Edges Of A Muse

I trace my thoughts over ragged edges
His latent uncertainties played taut
Realities tango, some for want, some on a roll
Unable to resist borders, edges close in

He queries me on shenanigan thoughts
And I quiz him about his solo life
Answers left in canvases un-sketched
They color palettes left untouched yet

I sketch him out from old sunshine
From corridors around him that don't quite give
I see him poised on forgotten rainbows
Where thoughts turn in as languages go mute

I watch him race life, and I bar my gypsy thoughts
Turning away from the realities he is threading
He fights hard, his battles deep and honest
While I watch, painting different sunsets

Time as I know it wraps silhouettes in goodbyes
Bouquets of images I carry from my world
We walk away each time, fencing paradigms
Defying borders that fights hard with reason…

Thinking It To Be Cemented

Dried dirt and water mixed,
Can and will produce thick mud.
Depending on the amount.
And making a leisurely walk through it,
An experience many will find unpleasant.

No one brags with a standing in quicksand.
Craving chocolate to taste...
Instead of a rope or a tree branch,
Held by someone to rescue them...
From a dire circumstance.

But then...
Who would blindly step into quicksand,
Thinking it to be cemented...
By the falling of Autumn leaves.

Nothing Left To Lose

Something, something's taking over me
Shaking, bottled up inside of me
Crawling, crawling in the shadows so no one finds me
Hiding, paranoid I suffer no sleeping
I'm annoyed, I think you should shut it
Give me no attention or you'll be sorry
I've got nothing left to lose
You always get your way
Got everything to prove
I saw you turn away
Got nothing left to lose
You always get your way
Got everything to prove
You always get your way
Help me, sitting front of fire I'm melting
Don't you leave me hanging I'm burning
Can't hold on forever
I'm not that stupid
Genius cracking underneath this pressure
Sorry couldn't keep it together
I know I've got it coming, but you'll be sorry
I've got nothing left to lose
You always get your way
Got everything to prove
I saw you turn away
Got nothing left to lose
You always get your way
Got everything to prove
You always get your way
You always get your way
I won't just turn away
Save me from myself
Always get your way
Save me from myself

Nothing Left To Lose

(lead vocal - eric woolfson)
Nothings good the news is bad
The heat goes on and it drives you mad
Scornful thoughts that fly your way
You should turn away cause theres nothing more to say
You gave the best you had to give
You only had one life to live
You fought so hard you were a slave
After all you gave there was nothing left to save
Youve got nothing left to lose (youve got nothing left to lose)
No youve got nothing left to lose (whod wanna be standing in your shoes)
Nothing ventured nothing gained
No more lingering doubt remained
Nothing sacred or profane
Everything to gain
Cause youve nothing left

Carry Me Through

Time has come,
To start my search for tomorrow.
On and on,
Theres just no end to the sorrow.
But I designed a way,
To see my life through pity.
I dont have too much to say,
And the tears wont let me be.
So,
Chorus
Carry me through the hard part.
Help me find a new start.
Carry me through the hard part.
Far too long,
Ive thought of all the excuses.
Try to go on,
And stay my time to an end.
Dreams in my head,
All turning dark and useless.
Help me find the hand,
That knows where Ive been.
Please,
Chorus
Ahhhhhh ...
Ahhhhhh ...
Carry me through ...
Carry me through ...
Carry me through ...
Carry me, carry me, carry me ...

Long Twin Silver Line

Words and music by bob seger
Well the big train keeps on rolling
Rolling on down the track
And the way shes moving buddy
I dont believe shes a-coming back
The firemans smoking a big cigar
Sipping lafite rothschild bordeaux
And the engineers so happy
Hes just a-letting that whistle blow
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling on proud and fine
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling
Down that long twin silver line
Well she just blazed through chicago
Nonstop to l.a.
And the way shes steaming buddy
You better not get in her way
Shes got the finest fastest pulling twin diesels
Shes got ninety three cars in tow
Shes gonna be on time
All the way down the line
Come the rain hail sleet or snow
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling on right on time
She keeps a-rolling
She keeps a-rolling
Down that long twin silver line
Rolling on down the line
And she just passed in chicago
Rolling into kansas too
Rolling into denver
Doing all shell do
And she hangs a big left in salt lake city
Southwest to the nevada line
Rolling into california
Right on time
Rolling on down the line

Dehumanized

If I offer you my soul
Will you carry me away?
I cannot be the only one
To be dehumanized again
Left behind
Too determined
to be forgotten
Nothing left to enrapture me
Hard and silent, softly breaking
No beloved to confort me
Dead philosophy
If I offer you my soul
Will you carry me away?
I cannot be the only one
to be dehumanized again
Left behind
Feel the dtermination built into my mind
You're never going to find me
I'll wipe the world away
Your face it will remind me
Just how much I have to leave
