A Rat's song of Survival
A poor young rat on the mats
Behind the gunny bag of potatoes
Holding a half eaten one firmly.
When I peeped with a curiosity
It tried to run hurriedly
And I just smiled friendly.
Then it stopped and started a Singsong;
'Master you should know my cute kitten?
She gave me a hug in the kitchen
And I begged her to elope soon
But she cried as her Father's a born Racist!
Specifically hates the rats.
If you become a negotiator
That would be much appreciated
As I love her deeply.
We could bring a bunch of offspring merrily
And solve this long-standing vengeance playfully! '

This Cradlesong perhaps that keeps you awake
The beggar-maid's lullaby never be a sweet one?
This cobbled street warm in day
And night it's too cold,
I am under the night sky
And the dew drops fall
My child cries in her dream
And she wants to know
Where the father's been?
I cannot lie and I tell her a sad story..................One night like now
Your father stopped for a matter
Sky knows well that he begged for a lodging
As he said nowhere to go.
I gave him my used bedspread
Patches are here and there,
Rats eaten when they're hungry?
We didn't sleep that whole night
Thanks he gave me the warmth
And he told me a long story like a movie
When shooting stars collapsed in the milkyway!
But he left early in the morning
With a promise to take me somewhere.
Dear daughter, This story's not yet finished
And I am waiting for him to continue?
*We two form a multitude.

Hunter
Laid back,
But ready to attack.
He's fat,
But cute in a hat.
Hunter the kitten,
As soft as a mitten.
Fun and lazy,
Fluffy and crazy.
Kitten at heart,
Always fart.
I love my kitten,
He's as cute as a button.
He's lazy and sweet,
But he loves to eat.
Laying next to me,
Making me happy.
Licking my tears away,
And making my day.
He likes to purr,
But he has too much fur.
My Hunter kitten,
As cute as ever,
You're fat and lazy,
But you're also crzy.
I love you,
ANd I hope you knew,
I'll love you,
Forever.

Have you ever heard of a kitten
I'm not quit sure how to write a sonnet
So i'll start with a few quite words
Some will make since while others will be an abundance
So here it is I will jump right in
Have you heard of a small fury creature named kitten
With sharp little claws in there cute mittens
With fluffy young fur she seems to be lickn
A cute little nose which is always a sniffn
And a lovable heart that is always a sniffn
To the animals around her always a playn
And a wild mind that is always a wondern
Long fury legs spotted and young
With eyes that are young and always a wondern
Have you heard of a small fury creature named kitten

Just Waiting
I was holding you hand,
That time we came to this land,
Walking in brackets of broad smiles,
For that long distance along Nile.
I was holding you hand,
When we first has a stop to a still stand,
Then you took out a necklace jewelry,
Worn it round my neck for your memory,
I was holding you hand,
That very time you said 'NO END'
'll bring down those pillars,
Of so called love of us.
I was embracing,
Whenever you felt we swing,
To the beautiful life melody,
And you said, 'My heart's your custody'
I was embracing,
When moon smiled and sun was facing,
Rivers cheered,
And forests cleared.
I was embracing
That time you felt wilderness chasing,
When we came to this broad full river,
Had no otherwise than watch chirping Weaver.
I was just standing still,
Then you left my hand for 'good will',
A Samaritan who held you innocently,
As I wait by this river patiently.
I was just standing still,
When you last peeped back to see me kneel,
As I hated that strange arm,
That was holding you firm.
I was just standing still,
When you admitted, 'I know what you feel'
And that with me you'd starve,
Since I was and I'm your love.
So I'm just waiting,
Imma stop hating,
I'll command patience 'pon my toe,
I'll rest down under this jungle mistletoe.
So, I'm just waiting,
In faith, keeping my lips biting,
Looking up to your comeback,
In that so called, mmmh! Right track.
So, I'm just waiting,
I'll keep on sitting,
Living like one big fool,
Bound by my faith 'you'll come' in full!

Aftermath
'The Tree Still Stands! '
Exclaimed the boy clasping his hands
To his Father who was walking the rear,
And to his Grandfather who was nowhere near.
For happy was He.
For standing there so straight and tall
Was the tree whose limbs He crawled
And the branches from which He played,
And the root where His head once laid.
And the many leaves.
Now the Father whom hearing His Son
Came to his side in a moment run
Then He stopped; for the tree He saw
Then the Father just stood in awe,
And uttered; 'my old friend'.
For standing there was His friend
From which before His youth was spent
By climbing and playing games,
And hiding under, from the cold and rain.
And the wind.
Then the Grandfather came strolling up
And He paused, in a moment hush
To reflect to a different year
When He was a Child, and He cried a tear.
And He clasped His hands.
For he was then again a Child
And then again He cried and smiled,
For He remembered His Father and He,
And how together they planted a tree.
And it still stands.
'Thank GOD the tree still stands! '
Cried the Grandfather clasping His hands.

Rats make havoc in the kitchen when the cat's a kitten.
Brother! It seems to be an off-season
The magical song birds flew away from the uncle's orchard without informing him.
The trees some were uprooted and old as same as uncle's gray beard.
I remember the bygone days when the fruits were laden and ripen on the tree tops how they danced merrily?
But now no more any singsong or a friendly chat and only you hear is the faint whisper of decaying leaves over his pet dog 'Marco's' silent tomb.
*Hey! My dear friend nothing could be hold firmly as everything disappears like in a sad dream.
This poem is a dedication to my friend George.Murdock in gratitude.

Once at a busy Pub?
*To that poor girl not yet a teenager who begs on a street corner and I was so sad she always pulls her dirty knickers that comes down to her scabies infested knees?
It's really dark and you cannot recognize
So & so dancing on the floor
Soprano's voice echoes in the bar premises
And an old man seems to be a Veteran
Who peeped into the bar nobody noticed.
He begged the microphone from the singer.
The manager winked at her as a grant.
He explained to the band of his old song
And started singing;
I sang in the battlefield leaving my gun aside
Enemies came towards me and they cried.
Believe me brothers & sisters,
I said; I am a poor man and joined the Army one day.
All of a sudden they said go to to the War Chum?
I left my beloved wife and children at home.
I get frequent letters from my sweetheart
She insists me don't shoot them honey
And sing your song they might be friends forever.
Yes darling! We became friends and the bloody War's over
Afterwards I sing in the bars for pleasure!
I'll be home soon with the gifts they gave me if it's not a dream?

The Candle
By my bed, on a little round table
The Grandmother placed a candle.
She gave me three kisses telling me they were three
dreams
And tucked me in just where I loved being tucked.
Then she went out of the room and the door was shut.
I lay still, waiting for my three dreams to talk;
But they were silent.
Suddenly I remember giving her three kisses back.
Perhaps, by mistake, I had given my three little
dreams
I sat up in bed.
The room grew big, oh, bigger far than a church.
The wardrobe, quite by itself, as big as a house.
And the jug on the washstand smiled at me:
It was not a friendly smile.
I looked at the basket-chair where my clothes lay
folded:
The chair gave a creak as though it were listening
for something.
Perhaps it was coming alive and going to dress in
my clothes.
But the awful thing was the window:
I could not think what was outside.
No tree to be seen, I was sure,
No nice little plant or friendly pebbly path.
Why did she pull the blind down every night?
It was better to know.
I crunched my teeth and crept out of bed,
I peeped through a slit of the blind.
There was nothing at all to be seen.
But hundreds of friendly candles all over the sky
In remembrance of frightened children.
I went back to bed...
The three dreams started singing a little song.

When I Was Young I Cried
When I was young I cried when I was sad, when I was young I cried when I was happy, when I was young I cried when I wanted something, when I was young I cried when I was lonely, when I was young I cried when I had to say goodbye, when I was young I cried when my feelings were hurt, when I was young I cried when I wasn't accepted, when I was young I cried when I was mocked, when I was young I cried for attention, when I was young I cried when I was scared, when I was young I cried when I hurt others, when I was young I cried when I felt physical pain, when I was young I cried when I was jealous, when I was young I cried when I lost someone or when I was lost somewhere, when I was young I cried when I didn't know, and now as an adult I cry because I understand.

No Thank You
No I do not want a kitten,
No cute, cuddly kitty-poo,
No more long hair in my cornflakes,
No more midnight meowing mews,
No more scratchin', snarlin', spitters
No more sofas clawed to shreds,
No more smell of kitty litter,
No more mousies in my bed.
No, I will not take that kitten--
I've had lice and I've had fleas,
I've been scratched and sprayed and bitten,
I've developed allergies.
If you've got an ape, I'll take him,
If you have a lion, that's fine,
If you brought some walking bacon,
Leave him, here, I'll treat him kind.
I have room for mice and gerbils,
I have beds for boars and bats,
But please, please take away that kitten--
Quick--'fore it becomes a cat.
Well...it is kind of cute at that.

If Giraffe loves Zebra?
In the Zoo
I relaxed a while
Leaving all the burdens.
'Hey! Master please write something for me.'
Giraffe begged.
'If I have a long neck like you
I could have easily peep into my next door spinster's room.'
'It's about you Sir and nothing for me.'
Then I wrote again.
'If Giraffe mates with Zebra
How nice will be the offspring? '
'Thank you very much Sir!
From tomorrow onwards
I try to catch the Zebra in the adjoining cage.
He must be happy, believe me Sir
Still I am a Virgin.'
'It's not a miracle being in the Zoo
But really it's hard to survive
If you're in the jungle.'
Like a girl she smiled shyly.

Vengeance
(carly simon)
Thats dangerous driving baby, the policeman said.
I can smell the passion of another man on your breath
I could give you life, get you back for what I saw
Thats vengeance he said, thats the law
You throw your misdemeanors right up in my face
The kind of man I am, I got to put you right in your lace
I should lock you up, getyou back for what I saw
Thats vengeance he said, thats the law
Thats vengeance, oh thats vengeance
Yeah thats vengeance he said, thats the law
Youve taken your half out of the middle
Time and time again
But now Im damned if Ill give you and itch
Till I get even
She said: just because youre stronger and you hold it over me
Ill put the pedal to the floor, and prove to you that Im free
Though youve stopped me once again, its not the end of the war
Its vengeance she said, thats the law
Thats vengeance, thats vengeance she said,
Thats the law

Hate & Love
You poor child
Hah
Your father may hurt
And he may destroy
All because of you
Because he blames you
Your father can hate his own child
Yes your father hates you
But in truth, In heart
Where does hate come from?
Tell me little one
Where does it go?
You cannot achieve hate
Unless you had love
Without love you cannot hate
Without hate you cannot love
Such is the life's black and white
Good and bad
Right and wrong
Yin and Yang
Yes your father hates you
Yes Im sure that's true
But though he may hate you
He loves you too

Still Smiling........
Smiled When Mother Took Me Into Her Arms For The First Time,
Smiled When Saw World Outside The Hospital For The First Time,
Smiled Whenever Went To School,
Smiled Even Being Laughed At....
And Called A Fool....
Smiled When Stood First In The Class,
Smiled When I Wasn't Misunderstood..... At Last!
Smiled When My Poem Was Said Wow!
Smiled When Realised That Only Day Is Today....
And Time Is Now......
Smiled When Got My 'True' Love,
Smiled As I Always Felt We Are Two Doves,
Smiled Even When Came To Know He's Not Mine,
Smiled Even When He Married My Friend.....
And Raised A Toast Of Wine,
Smiled Even When Lost Every Hope,
Smiled Even When Wasn't Able To Cope,
Smiled Even When Knew My End Is Near,
Smiled And Enjoyed Cutting My Nerve.......
No Fear...............
Smiled At Every Moment Of My Life,
Whenever, Wherever And Never Cried.............
But Now, I'm Lying Under A White Cover,
Father Putting Me On Fire.........
With No Blessings Left To Shower.....
People Around Have Nothing To Do With My Death
But Are Crying.........
And I'm............
Still Smiling.................................

Last Man Standing
If they gave Olympic medals for running all-night long
I would have won them all until I turned pro
I've got miles of dedication
And a natural inclination
For a childhood game i just could not outgrow
I want to be the last man standing
People crashin' on the sofas and passed out on the floor
But the Last man standing
was sayin' bring on a little bit more
When you stop and think about
Life is still just high school
You make the same mistakes you did when you were young
Contending for the ladies' favors
Testing every single flavor
While hopelessly trying not scald your tongue
I wanna be the last man standing
Bring me the hot sauce
Bring me a beer
Gonna be the last man standing
But where do we go from here?
Gonna be the last man standing
People crashin' on the sofas and passed out on the floor
But the Last man standing
was sayin' bring on a little bit more
I might as well admit it
There's been a time or two
When I contemplate retirement for a while
But a hundred years from now
They'll still be asking how
As they gaze upon on my taxidermic smile
Want to be the last man standing
Got the devil at the crossroads, wolf at the door
But the last man standing
Is singin' bring on a little bit more
They're gonna see the last man standing
Still got a fun ticket in my hand
Gonna be the last man standing
Takin off before I land

The Girl Who Held Your Hand
You got on the coach
for the day trip
organized by the chapel people
for kids who were poor
and this girl
sat next to you
and said
you can be my boyfriend
for the day
and she took hold
of your hand
and gave it a squeeze
and you looked out
of the window
at your mother
standing there
looking up at the coach
and you thought
is this part of the deal?
Is this girl for real?
And Mother waved
and smiled
and you smiled
uneasily back
with the girl’s hand
holding yours
out of sight
and she looked
over your shoulder
and waved
but no one
waved back to her
because her mother
wasn’t there
maybe she was off somewhere
or had to go to work
or maybe
she was still in bed
with another uncle
beneath the sheets
and maybe
he was holding her hand
and she was holding
something you never knew
or cared about
just sitting there
waving to Mother
beneath a sky of blue.

An isolated shack beside the Railroad
Only after the last night's train passed
They get a proper sleep on the cracked floor?
And children get up early in the morning
to the train's annoyed hooting!
But none of them go to school
As the infectious rats were eaten
Their tattered certificates of birth?
Unlettered father and sympathetic mother
pacify them that they have planned
One day to go on a train journey
Somewhere around hill side
Where the diamond mountains touch
The sky & Heaven!
In their sugary dreams near by dawn
Children see the train goes faster
Passing the skyscrapers in the city.
And one pulled the chain merrily.
Train stopped and they woke up.
O they observed the barren sky
Through their holey thatched roof!
Rich trains go in the right time as usual
with the rowdy hoot!
And the shearing skinny children never grumble on picnics
Poor parents too won't discuss the planned trip often
Ultimately all in the shack got used to the life's boring excursion?
[Remember the Econ-teacher once asked me about the restricted word 'Exploitation' in a college seminar. Then I replied; 'Who's stolen the poor man's wealth and deposited in Swiss Banks? ]

He Did Provide
The day before my dad had died
The day before I cried and cried
He said to me with both honor and pride
What in life He had promised, He did provide,
He kept his word from what he had said
He gave us our clothes and bought our bread
Dad sent us to school so we were well read
And he made sure that we were clothed and fed,
My dad never borrowed, begged or stole
My dad taught us to never to forget our goal
As we live our life our life becomes our role
And we'd be remembered by our deeds and our soul,
My father told me the truth he never lied
My father was always there at my side
He gave me my confidence he was my guide
And what he had promised, he did provide.

First Love
She took your hand
Gave her heart to you
So true
She built her faith in you
She couldn't describe
Just how she felt
But her stomuch fluttered
And her heart did melt
She followed you
Like a little lost pup
She gave and gave
You took, you took
But it wasn't long
Before you dashed her dreams
She cried and cried
And her eyes just streamed
You took her love
You took her faith
It'll take her years to get over you
And you never even told her why
You took and took
And knocked her down
Like a buffallo
Standing on a butterfly
And still years and years after
She still talks good of you
She says you were her first love
But you never saw it through
She followed you
Like a little lost pup
She gave and gave
And you took, you took! !
