To The Shadow Of My Own
I remember you my attendant,
You have been with me since I was born;
I recall the moment when I saw you for the first time,
I was appalled thinking you some small agent
From a fairy-land, all time spying me,
Then I ran and ran to leave you behind
But you ran too as fast as I could,
And I exhausted, out of breath fell into the lap
Of my mother where you were no more.
You all the times in my childhood remained with me,
In front, behind or beside. In the morn and eve
You were stretched in lengthwise
And at noon you shrank like a coiled snake.
In the days when I led cattle to the pasture,
In the evening I measured you with my bare feet,
Sometimes you lengthened more than fifty yards.
In my whole life you have been
Imitating me in my modes and manners,
I walked, you walked too; I stopped, you stopped too;
When I sat, you squatted too;
I assumed no one but you were an inseparable figure,
And so I passed my life in the same belief.
Alas! It was my false faith in you,
Now I am being drawn to the dark cave, utterly murky,
You will vanish like a fair-weather friend,
Leaving me behind all alone,
My deeds either good or bad will replace you.
Adieu! My attendant,
See you again hereafter in the celestial world.

My Life On A Single Page
I remember climbing my first rock wall,
It was ten meters in the air
I remember the first time I played paint ball,
It really really hurt
I remember my first kiss,
So fast and innocent
I remember when the world was a good place
It was my playground
I remember the day my parents got married,
The day they got divorced
I remember the day my life fell apart
I knew nothing would be the same
I remember the day one of my friends,
Tried to kill him self
I remember the day I wanted to…
Do the same
I remember the first day I walked into the councilors
Room because I was forced
I remember the day that I walked in there…
Because I wanted to not because
I was forced to
Those are all my memories… written upon a page
That is it that is my life well the truth of my life
Everyone is fake these days even me so I thought the world should know the real me
So that is me that’s it my life

Always Leaving Crisis
Life it seems is a crisis from the day that I was born
I came out flogging and crying on that long ago "who am I" morn!
I clung so tight to my Mama, but soon she sent me away
I heard the school bell ringing! A crisis for me that day!
The years, I recall, flew swiftly, where do I go from here?
A crisis, my graduation. Commencement day brings fear!
I don't understand where I'm going, another crisis for sure
I must find my way and purpose, the way to live and endure!
I'm always leaving, leaving, always searching to find
Where am I going? I wonder? I leave my childhood behind!
I leave all my teen years behind me. The past is the past is the past
One crisis after another, and all of them come so fast!
Then there was the crisis that really made me smile
A real big one for you as well, you walked me down the aisle!
I left my Mama and Daddy to spend a lifetime with you
Now comes a double crisis! We're leaving, oh what can we do!
I'm not sure when we are going, all I know it is true
I'm leaving this world behind me, and my dear, you are leaving, too!
Life has been a challenge, it seems we are always leaving!
Doors that close, doors that open, a pattern that's ever weaving!
Now at the end of our journey, we'll leave it all and find
The great and the small must leave it all, this is the way it's designed!
We'll trust our great Creator who has seen us through our strife
He'll never leave or forsake us! He will give us Eternal Life!

Will I See You Again
In the dark
Im lying all alone
I just wonder where you are
But I know that you will come
That youll be there
Ive got to walk this lonesome road
To get this of my head
Ive got no time for the living dead
So, Im taking off for higher ground
To get you off my back
You know, you gotta cut me some slack
cause now Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
cause now Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Will I see you again
I didnt have the chance to say, Im sorry
Will I see you again
This is more than I can take (from you)
A bottle of moonshine in the evening
And the daymare starts to fade
Now Ive got time for the weekend raid
Im on my own and I cant stay bored,
Ive passed that river long ago
Im not sure Im your friend or foe
cause now Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
cause now Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Im ready to go, I cant be stopped
Will I see you again
I didnt have the chance to say, Im sorry
Will I see you again
This is more than I can take (from you)
Ive got to clear my head

Adieu...
Adieu...
I remember...
moment it would rain,
we would all come out,
n got wet.
moment its festive time,
we would all come out,
n rejoiced.
moment its beautiful evening,
we would all come out,
n played soccer.
moment anything credible,
we would all come out,
n together rejoiced.
But Alas! ! !
it changed.
moment we got internet,
nobody came out,
to get wet.
moment we joined orkut,
nobody came out,
to get back in time n overlook.
moment we started posting,
mobody came out,
they were all roasting.
Its too much a change,
moment i go back,
i get back my life n fell busy,
so many goals to achieve,
n life so full of things yet to see.
I miss my real world.
Its still not too late,
i just need to be cautious.
Now having realised the importance of time,
I know time is very precious.
Now just wanna take leave,
so long has it been,
since i realised its nothin' but myself.

Silent Forest
Today amid the thick forest,
I am here again on the high mound,
The central seat to administer
The cattle left loose around.
It is the same peak where we all
In the days of my childhood sat,
The reverend shepherds rested
Gossiped about the olden times
Narrated they life long experience,
And some twisted the fibers of jute
On the rotators to make cots.
Different noises of life gurgled
From all sides around,
The goats bleated, the hounds barked,
The sheep moved lazily after being fed,
The camels ate tassels of the trees
The donkeys brayed at the noon,
The bulls fought entangling horns,
The birds chirped in the shadowy branches.
Here are the patches where the old women
Of the village came to scythe grass green,
I see my mother too, carrying the stuffed sack,
Going back to home in the long queue.
At noon the damsels or the elderly ladies
Of the village brought our lunch
With pickle, or onions or sugar
Home baked bread smeared with butter,
And milk in the earthen pots.
We all excitedly waited for the moment,
Then gentle winds made us all sleepy,
We slept sweet sleep on the bare ground,
While the cattle sat, rested and chewed.
When evening encroached, we measured
The stretched shadows with our feet
To know the time of return,
And we moved exhausted to homes
Behind the trails of surfeited lazy cattle.
Ah! It is the same old forest
That often makes me nostalgic,
Melancholic memories begin to assemble
Forcing the tears to dropp into dust.
Sounds of life come from neither side,
The trees stood dressless like ghosts,
Or like bony skeletons that haunt in dreams,
As if flesh of nature has been eaten away
By the callous scavenger modernity.
Now I being engrossed in the pensive mood
Hear nothing but the dirge of doleful silence
While air passes through stiff dry grass.

Tribute To Mom
You loved your children much
You were born at a tough time in history
You were born in a rough place
I can only imagine the pain you felt
When they said you were not good enough
Simply because of your complexion
Simply because of where you came from
Though rejected
You never stopped smiling
Never stopped encouraging
Never stopped loving
Hope He cleanse your spirit
Of all impurities
And present you holy
Holy to the Almighty
I remember the good you did
I remember how you cared for me
Even when I was sick
I remember
The last time I saw you
You were in excruciating pain
You were in your last days
May the Lord keep you
Until we meet again
In Jesus name
Amen!

God's Greatest Blessing- Mother
The greatest God’s bestowed gift on us is mother.
She who struggles a lot and don’t let pain conquer her children,
She who resists the pain of her children in her womb for nine big months
She who holds the whole world if sees her children in pain,
She is the one whose wish even god cannot disobey
She who often acts lunatic when her children get away from her,
She who never hesitates to stand upon the wishes of her children
She who often tries hard to keep her children on a right path.
She who sees to it that her children are always well-dressed,
When moving outside their homes.
She who teaches her children all the good manners and deeds,
She who connects her feelings and emotions with her children
She who builds up the character of her children,
And provides the nation a good and responsible citizen
But now a days the scenario is quite different,
These were the things of the past tenurant.
Mother remained the same,
But her children have taunted her fame.
Now the children behave in an ill manner,
With their mothers who used to teach them good manners.
With the fast passage of time,
And unexpected growth and development of our world
Technology and science is the thing that conquers the whole blurred.
With no one left thinking about their mothers,
Who once upon a time laid down her life
For their happiness and well being in the future.

Black Angel
One day in my life
I was walking along the road
then suddenly I saw this bright garmented angel
looking at me
with a smile on his face
so serene his posture was
I utterly lost my words
to speak anything
at the sight
so grandeur and in awe
I asked to myself
what in the world do I have to do
with this....
then the angel quietly held my hand
and led me to his world
a bit dark though clean however
I was abiding with him
for some time
until the time came
and I took off for
some far off lands
never to return to him again
but I do still remember
the joy he shared with me
the caring he gave to me
though it was quite a long ago
I still remember the smile on his face
and a little hello
a wink that it was.....
such a blissful moment
I recall still as the most
awesome moment that had ever happened
in my life
How can I forget that moment
and all the joy we shared together
with the angel right beside me
though some others might have been
a bit jealous of us
and tried to take us apart from each other
we stayed together in that heavenly bliss
But some really took us apart
by no means we wanted that to happen
but it did happen
so I no longer have that joy
nor bliss that I shared with this angel
that dark angel
in black clothes
with black smile on his face
with some mysterious look on his face
which I still can't comprehend
Ah! Where is he now?
Would he be thinking about me?
Would he have forgotten about me and
all the joy we shared together
in that some far away places
Only God can answer this questions..
for He is the one that made it happen
But today I recall the long-gone days again
and reminiscent it again
thinking about that beautiful creature
the black angel he was...

Ive Never Stopped Dreaming Of You
(j. l. wallace, terry skinner)
Ive forgotten your number
I hadnt called in a while
And Im slowly forgetting your funny little smile
Ive even stopped missing
The love that we knew
But Ive never stopped dreaming of you
Ive lost all the memories
The feel of your touch
And its left my mind why I loved you so much
Ive even forgotten who walked out on who
But Ive never stopped dreaming of you
Chorus:
Ive never stopped seeing your face every night
I see it each time that I close my eyes
And times heal the memories
Of the pain I went through
But Ive never stopped dreaming of you
Ive misplaced all the trinkets
That you told me to keep
And its been such a long time
Since Ive lost any sleep
Now Im doing just fine
With somebody new
But Ive never stopped dreaming of you
Repeat chorus
No Ive never stopped dreaming of you

Lover's Gifts XLII: Are You a Mere Picture
Are you a mere picture, and not as true as those stars, true as
this dust? They throb with the pulse of things, but you are
immensely aloof in your stillness, painted form.
The day was when you walked with me, your breath warm, your
limbs singing of life. My world found its speech in your voice, and
touched my heart with your face. You suddenly stopped in your walk,
in the shadow-side of the Forever, and I went on alone.
Life, like a child, laughs, shaking its rattle of death as it
runs; it beckons me on, I follow the unseen; but you stand there,
where you stopped behind that dust and those stars; and you are a
mere picture.
No, it cannot be. Had the life-flood utterly stopped in you,
it would stop the river in its flow, and the foot-fall of dawn in
her cadence of colours. Had the glimmering dusk of your hair
vanished in the hopeless dark, the woodland shade of summer would
die with its dreams.
Can it be true that I forgot you? We haste on without heed,
forgetting the flowers on the roadside hedge. Yet they breathe
unaware into our forgetfulness, filling it with music. You have
moved from my world, to take seat at the root of my life, and
therefore is this forgetting-remembrance lost in its own depth.
You are no longer before my songs, but one with them. You came
to me with the first ray of dawn. I lost you with the last gold of
evening. Ever since I am always finding you through the dark. No,
you are no mere picture.

Little Red Riding Hood
"Heaven lies about us in our infancy."
Sweet child of fairy land! since first
I dwelt, with tearful eye,
Upon the page that tells thy tale,
Long years have glided by.
Then, in thy fabled history,
No marvel could I see;
For then the worlds of thought and sense
Were fairy lands to me.
The fields and meadows were as bright
As those where thou didst stray; --
And gaily through their tangled flowers,
Like thee I took my way.
And while I walked that sunny path,
Nor doubt nor fear was mine;
For childhood's trustfulness and faith
Are ever strong, like thine.
Alas! that coming years should throw
Dark shadows o'er our way;
And leave us with this aching sense
Of glory passed away.

In A Windowpane
I looked into a windowpane
Last evening in a city far away
I was feelin sad and blue
I wondered then if I should really stay
Wanting someone to be with me in the light of this uncertain time
Waiting by the window for the man inside
To please make up his mind
Will you be one who passed through but never saw
Never knowing never feeling anything
Will you live your whole life through never knowing what to do
Will you be one who passed through but never saw
I walked along the roadway to a fountain
Where lovers come to meet
A hobo walked up to me, I could tell
He didnt have enough to eat
He said, good sir you look so kind
And though the years have stripped me to the bone
It seems I am the better man
For in this place Ive never walked alone
Will you be one who passed through but never saw
Never knowing never feeling anything
Will you live your whole life through never knowing what to do
Will you be one who passed through but never saw
Where will you be, my friendly, when your
Telephone aint givin out no calls
And when the seasons come to haunt you
Will you still find springtime in the fall
And when youre on your island
Will you wave at every ship that passes by
And will you feed a hungry man
I thank you, sir,
Now Ill just say goodbye
Dont you be one who passed through but never saw
Never knowing never feeling anything
Will you live your whole life through never knowing what to do
Will you be one who passed through but never saw
Will you live your whole life through never knowing what to do
Will you be one who passed through but never saw

Remember The Time
Do you remember
When we fell in love
We were young
And innocent then
Do you remember
How it all began
It just seemed like heaven
So why did it end?
Do you remember
Back in the fall
Wed be together
All day long
Do you remember
Us holding hands
In each others eyes
Wed stare
(tell me)
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Do you remember
How we used to talk
(ya know)
Wed stay on the phone
At night till dawn
Do you remember
All the things we said like
I love you so
Ill never let you go
Do you remember
Back in the spring
Every morning birds would sing
Do you remember
Those special times
Theyll just go on and on
In the back of my mind
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met girl
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Those sweet memories
Will always be dear to me
And girl no matter what was said
I will never forget what we had
Now baby
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
When we first met
Do you remember the time
When we fell in love
Do you remember the time
Remember the times
Ooh
Remember the times
Do you remember girl
Remember the times
On the phone you and me
Remember the times
Till dawn, two or three
What about us girl
Remember the times
Do you. do you, do you,
Do you, do you
Remember the times
In the park, on the beach
Remember the times
You and me in spain
Remember the times
What about, what about...
Remember the times
Ooh... in the park
Remember the times
After dark..., do you, do you, do you
Remember the times
Do you, do you, do you, do you
Remember the times
Yeah yeah
Remember the times

Nalan 2.10 The Hardship of Separation
Struck on different feeling
With a view to attack,
Raghu, the celestial snake
Surrounded the reddish sun,
That became dark soon.
Like this, Kali planted
In the innocent Nalan’s mind
A different idea, wicked
And the one most crooked.
Thought to cut
Her deplorable condition
Was unbearable to Nalan,
And decided to leave her
In that very dark hour.
But how to cut the sari
Was then his worry.
It was binding them
As one at that time.
Came as sword
Kali knew his thought
And came to the spot
In the shape of a sword
Just to fulfil his need.
Cut! Shocked!
With the sword,
What he found,
He cut her sari
Into two easily.
In that poor condition,
He saw her position,
And thought of her
Dark helpless future.
Mind was churning
Gopis churned the curd
With their two hands,
Which went forward
And backward.
His restless mind
Like this wavered
On the thought,
To leave or not.
Heart pained
Once the Sage Narada
Turned the River Ganga
Into a cold ice block
That stood like a rock.
Like this, Kali hardened,
This time, his soft mind.
Nalan took the decision
To leave her then.
Oh Gods!
He made a request,
“Oh Gods of this forest
I’m leaving her
Under your care.”
“In this dark hour
I’m leaving her here
Like a strange man,
Having no concern.”
He walked out
In that dark night,
He walked out,
Left and right,
Hurting his feet.

- Melina..the blow and into the world of darkness! !
You walked along with me and soon became my great friend.
Then hurt walked in, left a shattered life, we have much to mend.
Youthful life, kids to guide, a great toll in your hands lay,
With every fall, you must rise, a Herculean Task, you got to play
Precious jewel, indeed a God's Blesings, an amazing wonder like you.
Alas I awake, to cross the line of our next phase, though i fear it so!
Its time to let go, the many decisions, you must now make.
No longer to soon, to lose you to the world outside, a step i take.
You gave me time, now i step behind, as you travel on your own.
My job will be, still undone, even with the years fast flown.....
Your youthful days tatterd and battered leaving you confused
With every step you take may your questions be greatly reduced
Perfected, sadly, unspoken pain, a quality, a style, with good grace.
May God be with you, as with dignity, you softly tread in life's race.

Remember The Good Times
Good times bad times
Bad times good times
We were twisting Chubby Checker style
In a roaring sixties summer night
We walked the moon and we were free
When Jimi played guitar
We shared a dream with Martin Luther King
We saw J.F.K. in West Berlin
When he spoke those famous words that day
Our world was not the same
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
We were lost in shock, the world was doomed
Nikita hit us with a shoe
We watched the world go upside down
When the Kennedys got shot
We were screaming when the world was fab
We had Rock 'n' Roll invade our hearts
We had Elvis, Janis, Marilyn
And hair, to let it grow
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
We're still standing after all
Back in the cold war
Our hearts were warm
Just because sex was free
In the summer of love
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
Let the film just roll
Remember the good times
Remember the bad times
Remembering my life, your life
We're still standing after all
Good times bad times
Bad times good times
Im still standing
Let the film just roll
I'm still standing
We're still standing after all

The Expatriates
My dear, it was a moment
to clutch for a moment
so that you may believe in it
and believing is the act of love, I think,
even in the telling, wherever it went.
In the false New England forest
where the misplanted Norwegian trees
refused to root, their thick synthetic
roots barging out of the dirt to work on the air,
we held hands and walked on our knees.
Actually, there was no one there.
For fourty years this experimental
woodland grew, shaft by shaft in perfect rows
where its stub branches held and its spokes fell.
It was a place of parallel trees, their lives
filed out in exile where we walked too alien to know
our sameness and how our sameness survives.
Outside of us the village cars followed
the white line we had carefully walked
two nights before toward our single beds.
We lay halfway up an ugly hill and if we fell
it was here in the woods where the woods were caught
in their dying and you held me well.
And now I must dream the forest whole
and your sweet hands, not once as frozen
as those stopped trees, nor ruled, nor pale,
nor leaving mine. Today in my house, I see
our house, its pillars a dim basement of men
holding up their foreign ground for you and me.
My dear, it was a time,
butchered from time
that we must tell of quickly
before we lose the sound of our own
mouths calling mine, mine, mine.

Schooldays
If ever you think about the happiest days of your life
Cast back your mind for a while
And remember the time when you were a child.
Dont think of things that make you sad,
Just remember all the good times that you had.
Do you remember only happy days,
Full of flaming junes and summer holidays?
Or do you remember those stormy novembers
When we walked in the wind and the rain?
Schooldays were such happy days
Now they seem so far away,
I remember and Ill always treasure.
Schooldays were the happiest days of your life
But we never appreciate the good times we have
Until its too late.
I miss all the acquaintances we made
And Id go back if I could only find a way,
Schooldays were the happiest days
Though at the time they filled me with dismay.
We only remember what we choose to remember.
When I was a schoolboy I loathed regulations and rules
I hated my textbooks and my school uniform,
cos it made me conform,
And teachers were always disobeyed,
But Id go back if I could only find a way.
Schooldays were the happiest days,
Now they seem so far away.
I remember and Ill always treasure
Schooldays were the happiest days of your life
But we never appreciate the good times we have
Until its too late.
Now I wish I hadnt strayed,
And Id go back if I could only find a way.
Schooldays.

The Author's Early Life
I will write a sketch of my early life,
It will be of childhood day,
And all who chance to read it,
No criticism, pray.
My childhood days were happy,
And it fills my heart with woe,
To muse o'er the days that have passed by
And the scenes of long ago.
In the days of my early childhood,
Kent county was quite wild,
Especially the towns I lived in
When I was a little child.
I will not speak of my birthplace,
For if you will only look
O'er the little poem, My Childhood Days,
That is in this little book.
I am not ashamed of my birthright,
Though it was of poor estate,
Many a poor person in our land
Has risen to be great.
My parents were poor, I know, kind friends,
But that is no disgrace;
They were honorable and respected
Throughout my native place.
My mother was an invalid,
And was for many a year,
And I being the eldest daughter
Her life I had to cheer.
I had two little sisters,
And a brother which made three,
And dear mother being sickly,
Their care it fell on me.
My parents moved to Algoma
Near twenty-three years ago,
And bought one hundred acres of land,
That's a good sized farm you know.
It was then a wilderness,
With tall forest trees abound,
And it was four miles from a village,
Or any other town.
And it was two miles from a schoolhouse,
That's the distance I had to go,
And how many times I traveled
Through summer suns and winter snow.
How well do I remember
Going to school many a morn,
Both in summer and in winter,
Through many a heavy storm.
My heart was gay and happy,
This was ever in my mind,
There is better times a coming,
And I hope some day to find
Myself capable of composing.
It was by heart's delight,
To compose on a sentimental subject
If it came in my mind just right.
If I went to school half the time,
It was all that I could do;
It seems very strange to me sometimes,
And it may seem strange to you.
It was natural for me to compose,
And put words into rhyme,
And the success of my first work
Is this little song book of mine.
My childhood days have passed and gone,
And it fills my heart with pain
To think that youth will nevermore
Return to me again.
And now kind friends, what I have wrote,
I hope you will pass o'er,
And not criticise as some have done,
Hitherto herebefore.
