Faithful to her wedding vows, she
miscarried twice, eventually
bore him a son; allowing him
to continue making all the family decisions
which eventually cut them off
from both their families – even
took his side in the many battles
with his disoriented son battling for his own identity;
and when – eventually –
stone deaf, demented, and incontinent,
and fierce as ever, blue eyes blazing
with anger, he became impossible,
she continued to nurse him single-handed;
loved, honoured, and obeyed;
love found the impossible to be the possible.

A Peasant Girl Who Left Poland
she was a young girl, named Louise, leaving her whole her family and many a friend
and boarded a boat in Holland
for New York
a new country, a new life for this 15-year old girl from Poland
for the European situation would be bleak
she would venture the Atlantic for almost two weeks
she would eventually meet her future husband Jozef Polaniec
they spoke the same language, shared the same faith, and customs,
she would find work in NYC as a maid/housekeeper,
she would eventually learn to make Gifelte fish for her Jewish family that she tended for
she would respond to an ad which was placed by Jozef
that she had met years prior
they were engaged and married
later this once peasant girl had two children, one died an early death; one
lived.
this once peasant girl and her husband had five living grandchildren
they all lived in a home with a single bathroom in Hamtramck
she would eventually have her daughter give her grandson some music lessons
I owe you Louise
for that farm girl from Poland had my mother who eventually had me
So Happy Birthday Louise, I will always think of you on this day.

Sometime, somehow, someplace, I am eventually going to die,
Fortunately or unfortunately, I still don't know why,
Eventually I'd like to arrange the time and place and die,
Have good family and friends around and arrange to say goodbye.
But right now, death with dignity is against all our laws,
They did it to Sue Rodriguez to activists' applause,
After they allowed abortions, so politically correct,
Killing thousands of unborn babies but they claim they're perfect.
You don't have to be a genius to see that there's something wrong,
Is it possible by the time I die; they'll have changed their song?
If we had binding referendums, we could change all this,
But no way, they'll allow us to have anything like the Swiss.
