She was so proud to have 'bagged' him -
he'd toured the world on Dad's business;
he'd 'squired'
(that's the word we use -
who wants to hang around the hotel's staff door all and every night?)
every It girl, every starlet, every girl of the moment;
and the Valentine cards with foreign stamps
just added to her catch;
the press cameras loved him,
with that extra button on his open neck shirt
undone, under his suit,
even when he was with Her.
But he'd chosen her.
For ever.
In sickness or in obscurity,
in notoriety or in overweight.
He for his part was so proud to have 'bagged 'her.
Her string of exes was impeccable -
her loyal girlfriends saw to that,
sharing their lists, and quietly informing
the PRs of suitable Hollywood superstars
weekending in London for their premieres
that mutual publicity might be 'leaked'
- like a hole punched in a bucket.
Their wedding was a private one
since they loved each other just so much
more than themselves.
Stella, and Fleshtape, did the bridesmaids
proud, and pert; amazing food;
a happening designer; an edgy band.
One ex is a sad sight at such a bash;
ten-plus exes for each of the pair - that's sparky.
To tell the world their love,
they each sold the story of their romance of a lifetime
and by setting the mags against each other
got a doubled fee -
his was in one, hers in the other.
In fact, such was their love
they even discussed having one PR instead of two.
Their payments for their stories were a few months late,
(their accountants insisted they went down as 'expenses') :
but by the time they put them through
their separate bank accounts
we had noted that their well-paid break-up stories
didn't quite match.

Go Go Around
Alone upon the sidewalks of despair
'Twas there she wandered
With her suitcase in her hand
Her fate she pondered
Only a go-go girl in love with someone who didn't care
She met him on a night so rare when her friends were there

A Silent Remembrance
The waves wash against the rocks,
And sadly turn away -
I hear the sound of my internal clock
Like a car speeding on a highway.
A silent pebble makes ripples on the water,
And slowly vanishes into the deep,
The sun sets in the day's third quarter,
As I sit alone on the shore and weep.
There was a similar setting a few years back -
Only it was filled with happiness and love;
A spark of romance that life currently lacks
A curse brought down upon me from above.
I loved my girl and she loved me too
Like Romeo & Juliet in a Shakespeare's tale:
We'd hold each other for hours under the sky - dark blue,
And share our romance with the omnipresent gale.
We had a perfect life filled with smiles -

Twas 12 am, in the soft of the night,
12 am in the glow of a lamplight,
When you whispered, 'I love you more.
You love me, but i love you more.'
I still remember feeling my heart melt.
Still remember the warmth i felt.
That someone loved me despite my mistakes.
That someone was messaging me, to say hello 'fore i was awake.
The reassuring touch of your hand;
You pushing me over into the sand.
For once in my life, I found myself living a dream
Or so it seemed,
But as i finally found, your words were an illusion:
All part of a delusion.
As the rot which had long set made you break,
And suddenly, my little world was left in your wake.
I found myself gazing into space-
Wondering how one can say 'i love you more' to the face
Then break and run
Spurning the said and done.
My puppy love suddenly was faced with a rude awakening,
As i discovered how it feels to have your heart breaking.
All throughout, i remembered that night, 'i love you more.'
I finally realise you just said it then, but didn't mean it at all-
When you said 'I love you more.'
Didn't know you didn't mean it at all.
Sometimes I wonder if you loved me ever,
And at times I wish you never.
I no longer know if what you said,
You actually really meant.
If there ever was a time when you loved me,
I just can't see how it could be.
But i loved you, still love you like before,
And sadly i've come to see: i love you more
