The Street Clover(karanfil Sokagi)
all the horizons are held in military barracks
all the four disrections, the sixteen winds
and the seven climates and the five continents
are all underneath the whlte heavy snow
But..we are doomed to meet again
by railway, asphalt roads, highways and by stone roads
but this is my steep roads my foot-path I prefer
Taurus, anti Taurus and the river..the rebelling EUPHRATES
tobacco, cotton, wheat plains and the rice fields,
my country all over, all along suddenly
is uinder the white snow completely
some are still fighting with each other
in this weather
with hands and feet frozen..their hearts hell
hope...regretful and gloomy
hope stubborn and always honest
but drawn back ti the mountains
and also are under the white snows
i know the folk songs under the avalanches
images, statues and the sagas
alll are the masterpieces of skillful hands
the armless, half naked venus
the street trans no name
garic Lorka's grave
the unknown soldier
and the eye apples of madam and monsieur Pierre CURIE
are also under the snow
their walls made uo of hard long lasting stones
the skirts are also under the snow
my longing very delicate to ankara
let the wolves love the misty weather
let walk on the asphalt road the month december
i d o not like that month
very changing and unreliable one
how many times we had counted the days
how many times we longed and waited for warm weather
nobody does not know
my heart, my bosom and my painful love
are also still under the snow
in the slums the weather is unclear and misty
the skies of altindag are covered with clouds cumulus
the children..who gain their living and bread by big bazaar baskets on backs
with lungs little but with big hands
reach to love and love with them and grow
never enough to to warm their palms their breaths
all try to attend to primary schools
and in summer they watch the storks
strolling in open sewage pits
and all the children of the slum districts
are also under the heavy fallen snows
the weather at the other side of the brook hatip is warm
the boulvards are gay and newly awakened in the New City..Yenisehir
an new day has bloomed in the clover street..karanfil sokagi
guess..how i know alll these
the reasons are bare walking on the streets
all the sufficant clues are all naked everywhere in the streets
in the clover street.. a glass covered green house warm and hot
in the greenhouse a china flower-POT
on it a limb of a tree wavers in blues
and a crimson..firefolk folk song gloomy
reaching and hurting the bosoms
but do not take these into consideration..never mind these
though they seem to grow artificially in flower- pots
the roots of them are still in ALTINDAG and in INCESU slum districts

A Snowy Day
I sense an unfamiliar brightness, and very soon, I'm awake.
I go to my window, which is covered with tiny snowflakes.
As far as the eye can see, there's a carpet of pure white:
It's a magnificent and beautiful, but still rather rare, sight.
People pull on their patterned, designer, Wellington boots;
Icy footprints in the snow, mark out the well trodden routes.
Children play in the snow and build a snowman;
They build him up as tall, as they possibly can.
Everything looks so very different when covered by snow;
Suddenly, you're not too sure where your feet should now go.
I love to walk through the parts, where snow is undisturbed;
Even though I now can no longer tell the road from the curb.
There is now a real lack of distinguishing features,
And a noticeable absence of warm-blooded creatures.
In the sunshine, the snow, like tiny diamonds, glints;
Its delicate surface now peppered with animal prints.
The coldness makes folks' cheeks all pink and rosy.
Most stay inside, where they are all nice and cosy.
Children on a sledge whiz down a long, steep hill;
They seem to know no fear and have nerves of steel.
Wheels on vehicles suddenly now slide and slip;
Road surfaces, they suddenly can no longer grip.
On busier routes, the snow soon turns to sludgy slush.
In this weather, not a single soul would dare to rush.
Some folk hope that, of the snow, there'll be no more,
And hope that this carpet of white, will, very soon, thaw.
When I look out of my bedroom window that same night,
I notice that the world around me still seems quite light.
Over the next couple of days, the snow turns to ice;
It now is all discoloured, and doesn't look so nice.
Finally, we have a whole day of really heavy rain,
And, of the snow, not a single flake now remains.

Can't Change the Weather
Crisp and white and cold
It was a beautiful snowy day
Life seemed devoid of turmoil
As I watched the ducks at play
Trees covered in their lacy winter white
The sky was gray with threatening snow
And yet a bit of white peaked through
It was the best kind’a day I know
And as I drove across a bridge
Slush was forming and the snow rearranged
It seemed as though there was a pause
I knew something was about to change
I love the changing of the weather
A cold and blowing storm
And then as quick as fingers snap
It would be sunny and sweet and warm
I guess whatever the season
Or whatever the weather right now
We might as well just settle in
Can’t change the weather anyhow!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since weve no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
Oh it doesnt show signs of stopping
And I bought some corn for popping
The lights are turned way down low
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
When we finally kiss goodnight
How I hate going out in the storm
But if you really hold me tight
All the way home Ill be warm
Oh the fire is slowly dying
And my dear were still good-bying
But as long as you love me so
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

New York Winter
New York Winter
Upon seeing the weather on TV, I noticed in your area
Your weather outside is dreadful But here it's so delightful
So because you've no place to go, watch it snow, watch it snow, watch it snow
It doesn't show signs of quittin You know you're stuck there just a sittin
Guess you could let the lights go low
Save some electric and watch it snow, snow, snow
It's gonna be 72 here today Why'd anyone stay up your way?
You need to find another place to go
Where there isn't any snow, any snow, any snow
Come visit, we have room with a view
Something you'll see that is new
With grass that one doesn't have to mow
And there's no snow, there's no snow, there's no snow

Snow
The poor ducks paddle in the partially frozen pond.
Farmers’ fields are covered with thick snow beyond.
Bewildered sheep, keep warm in their thick woolly coats.
On toboggans, cheerful children slide down slippery slopes.
Insects and fallen fruit are suddenly nowhere to be found,
By birds and animals, who forage for food upon the ground.
Kindly householders throw out cake crumbs for the birds,
But among the mammals, murmurs of discontent are heard.
Everywhere in sight is decorated with a thick layer of snow;
The world all about, is now either at a stop, or on a go-slow.
Cars slowly wind their way down the narrow country lanes.
The day sees dozens of delays on the slowly running trains.
Delayed or cancelled, are the large fleets of local buses.
In this weather, the whole world crawls: it never rushes.
Drivers furiously scrape clean their frozen windscreens,
Impatient for this world of white to turn back into green.
To the joy of children, many primary schools have been shut;
Many deliveries to households and businesses have been cut.
People in tiny, remote villages are snowed in, and can’t get out.
Clearing the roads, an army of snow-ploughs are out and about.
The skeletal trees, at last, have got some winter decoration,
And are now looked upon with some degree of admiration.
The snow is thick, and will take many a day to disappear;
It will take a while till the road ahead is once again clear.

A New Baby Is Being Borne
my hands cannot reach the quinces..pomegranates
i bent down my neck and walk
when my soul burns
that is not something the wolf and the bird know
oh...do not ask me
let the black decree walk on the roads
the garden of my love is in distress
bloody is the hair falling on my fore-head
they are all a handful of life
that i offer to the asccidents and troubles
ohhh..let me die
my hand is empty
my feet are in ambush
that all only i must know
i loved a beauty
and the citadel DIYARBAKIR
bloom the bloody flowers at the other side
and snow falls at the other side
scattered the mount karaca
scattered the mount zozan
look my moustache is frozen
i am feeling cold too
the winter lasting very long
as to never go
i think of you as a spring
i think of you as diyarbakir
thinking of overhelms everything
the river hamavrat is frozen
four finger thick ice in the river tiber
we use the well water
in jugs..buckets and kettles
we make tea with the melted snow
my mother hsdes her syatics like a secret
It is temporary wind she says
will recover in springs
my daughter carries two lives
she is beautiful as you know
this is her first
she hides and is shameful too
we will have an extra life thss winter
my baby..wjhere will i hide you
welcome you
welcome ahmet arif s NEPHEW
NOW YOU are borne
for three days we kept you hungry
for thrre days your mother did not suckle you
for you not to be sick
it is our tradition
attack now to the tits
attack and grow
these are the snakes
these are the centipedes
these are the ones
whose eyes are on our meals
trying to share our meals
know them
know them well and grow
this is the honour
it is engraved in our identification cards
this is also the patience
filtered from the poisons
embrace them and grow

Capture The Moment
Snow on the hilltops
All night and day
There was snow
And the whiteness turned
In some places
With long steps
Tired steps
Of someone
Carrying
The burden of his life
Besides warm clothing
And some worn out shoes
Socks those were fuming
For the wet sock
Why not seek love in hills
Covered with snow
Why a beloved is not born here
And why there is not
A mad man of the snows
Snow is not as cold
There is intense heat inside
And the beloveds of the snow
Let’s sing for them tonight
Let’s tell them to lit heavy fire
Let those chimneys emit smoke
Smoke the symbol of hope
And the fire burning
The smell of baking food
And the sweetness of the beloved’s
Warmth
Let us invent a story of love
As the hills covered with snow
And the pine trees carrying the weight of snow
Bent down
And the distant houses
All covered with a thick white blanket
Sleeping
And some young girls
Making breads and hot tea for the loved ones
In the early morning
As more snow
Rains from the skies

Heavy Rain
Fields everywhere, now are completely sodden.
No more can their surfaces be safely trodden.
The grass in the fields was all turning brown,
But now, I fear that the fields could drown.
This year, it looked like we were facing a drought,
But now, I can’t believe how much rain is about.
It rains all day long, without even a pause.
Only by the plants, is all this rain is adored.
On the roads, there are massive puddles.
In the fields, under trees, the cattle huddle.
I know we all said we wanted the rain,
But now, it’s becoming a bit of a pain.
There are grey skies constantly overhead,
And I’m not that tempted to leave my bed.
The water in the fields will take ages to go,
And, now many of the vegetables won’t grow.
In this weather, you're constantly soaking wet,
And, by many a gloomy face, are you often met.
At any moment, I fear there’ll be a thunder storm.
This weather makes me feel very far from warm.
Every day, there is more heavy downfalls forecast,
How much longer can this dreadful weather last?
Even the weather forecaster gives a sympathetic look.
This weather is really pretty bad, even by his book.
In the towns, the High Streets are somewhat deserted.
On some roads, floods cause the traffic to be diverted.
Leaves and general rubbish clutter up the drains,
So that, on the road surfaces, the water will remain.
It’s summertime, and the weather is supposed to be hot,
But we’ve had all this rain lately, so obviously it’s not.
People everywhere are cancelling their summer barbeques;
Informing all their guests of the rather disappointing news.
There was a time when summer was hot and winter was cold,
But, into one, the seasons now seemed to have been rolled.
The whole nation over, organisers are cancelling events,
While fed up campers are speedily packing up their tents.
What the weather would be like, you once were able to guess,
But it’s all turned topsy-turvy and is now a real bloomin’ mess.
In an ideal world, during the day, the sun could shine nice and bright,
Then the rain could fall for hours on end, as long as it was only at night.
A healthy mixture of sun and rain is what we really need;
Both of which are needed to germinate newly sown seeds.
I really do wish that this constant rain would just go away;
Allowing us to carry out activities, we’d planned for the day.

A Marvel against Odds!
Cold winter season depicts snow everywhere;
Himalayan mountains, Kashmir valley, Shimla
Even in summer are a resort to see snow ever!
Keeping coal fire close to body covered by blanket
Poor people withstand chill weather there ever!
Even in such severe weather condition people live!
Glaring white of snow everywhere makes eyes
Close or have a sun-glass to see out all day long
And people mind routine regularly without fail!
The thrill of skating on ice really makes joyful,
Keeps health in tip top condition to pull on well
And makes worst weather too best by play ever!
Making good of a bad bargain is an art man knows;
Deserts or snow hills, he marvels millions of years!

Ive Got My Love To Keep Me Warm
Irving berlin
The snow is snowing
The wind is blowing
But I can weather the storm
Why do I care how much it may storm
Ive got my love to keep me warm
I cant remember
A worse december
Just watch those icicles from
Why do I care if icicles form
Ive got my love to keep me warm
Off with my overcoat
Off with gloves
I need no overcoat
Im burning with love
My hearts on fire
The flame grows higher
So I will weather the storm
Why do I care how much it may storm
Ive got my love to keep me warm

Attitudes.
The moon sheds soft and silver light
upon the newly fallen snow
A master piece for our delight.
The city folk will never know.
The snow that falls on city streets.
Is all too soon polluted by
the footprints left by passing feet.
In cities different rules apply.
Country folk accept the snow
They know there’s little they can do
but wait. In time the snow must go.
Something to look forward to.
But city folk impatiently
Demand the streets should be snow free.
