November
With every cloud that wanders late,
And grey grace of hazy weather,
Remember the fierce November,
And all the freeze in chill that waits.
From dawn to dusk through time of day,
The howling wind and how they blew,
To steal from days, their golden hue,
And mock the lights that frets away.
A new yuletide in frenzy haze,
In frigid fog and dusty gleam,
To send Christmas a merry beam,
And patch with chill our sundered maze.
The coast, the fields of broken freeze,
The brand of grey and sunlight lack,
And sweetened whiz of windy spark,
We pray November will ne'er cease.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
(Hugh Martin/Ralph Blane)
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on our troubles will be out of sight
Mmmmmm...
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
From now on our troubles will be miles away
Here we are, as in olden days
Happy golden days of your
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest cloud
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now
Wooo...

Remembering November
I do remember November...
It's cool, sharp call,
The cool breeze had all but disappeared,
But the wind, it came, upon us all.
Bundled up with our ascots...
Leather gloves for our hands,
Long woolen leggings to keep them warm,
And fur lined suede boots, on which to stand.
A flurry or two is cast for the morrow...
With winds gusting, to perhaps thirty-five,
Wind chill factor of fifteen,
With a temperature, thatr could freeze a cows hide.
Ice cicle formations begin to dangle...
Hanging as decorations from midnight eaves,
The roof believes that they are ornaments,
For at christmas time, they are well received.
The sidewalks are a dangerous peril...
As the black ice, begins to form,
One mistep, without good balance,
And a broken hip, could be borne!
Enough, i say enough...
Of this folly, of ice winter chill,
Pass it along to some balmy tropic isle,
Because of this frost, we've had our fill.
Premature Winters always trouble...
Coming too early, and lasting, way too long,
Never giving Fall a chance to shine her Orange,
Or give a break, for an early, Spring Bird Song!

Compliments of the Season
As the yuletide season nears
I thought I'd take the time
To send a greeting to you all
And compose this little rhyme.
I've racked my brains for something new
To say that won't sound trite,
But everything's been done to death.
I just can't get it right!
Like 'Wish you well on this Noel'
Or 'Have a Cool Yule! '
Or 'Hark! The merry yuletide bell! '
(Oh! Come on! Think, you fool!)
I guess I'll have to face the facts
It's an impossible mission.
And after all, it's Christmas time!
So why break with tradition?
To everyone who reads these lines
This wish rings loud and clear
Have a Very Merry Christmas
And the Happiest New Year! ! !

Hard Hearted November
A cold grey mist…
Tiptoes aimlessly about
It's only companions
A few scudding clouds
That mill thru the sky
And wander without
And cast shadows
Upon farm fields and wilds
Tis the hard heart of November
A month as indecisive as mist
A month so incisive….bestowed
with the caprice of a witch
Which has by mistake
Or perhaps by misgiving
Allowed to endow us
The day of Thanksgiving
And once realized
That a mistake has been made
Takes a cold vow
That this won't be forgiven
So it beckons to December
In a voice chill and shrill
And bades it remember
And sure December will…
Give ear to November's
Entreaty so bold…
That December not delay
To bring on the cold
Then reclines November
In supine repose
Gives carte blanche to Jack Frost
To nip anyone's nose
Pulls up blanket of mist
Lies down her head
Then cooly welcomes December
…Into her bed…

Wonky Weather
Never in my life before, can I ever remember,
Such mild weather, at the start of a November.
The grey squirrels, in the park, are still running wild,
As the weather, for this time of year, is warm and mild.
At the popular pub, a way along the seafront,
Some people sit outside, to enjoy their lunch.
Some brave souls, have rented themselves a beach hut,
While, along the shore, dog owners exercise their mutts.
Girls wear dresses, which leave their arms and legs bare;
That it’s now winter time, they don’t seem to really care.
On the crazy golf course, players are still having much fun;
All so eager to try and score that, often elusive, hole in one.
The weather in November is traditionally cold and grey,
But we’ve really enjoyed a most warm and pleasant day.
I would guess, this is all to do with global warming;
That a whole new pattern of weather is now forming.
Despite the pleasant day, it still gets dark extremely early;
Even in the daylight, I spot the moon, all white and pearly.
Over the town, a veil of darkness, slowly, begins to creep,
But, it is still too early in the day, for people to fall asleep.
But, when to the summertime, I now think back,
Of pleasant days, I recall, there being a real lack.
Our patterns of weather have now gone all weird,
But, by the weather, today, my soul felt cheered.
There was no rain today: all day, it stayed dry,
And the temperatures reached a seasonal high.
In July, I can recall one particular, rain soaked, day,
When the wild winds, almost blew me clean away.
When I was a child, the impression, which I got,
Was that summer was hot, and winter was not.
But now, the seasons have all gone rather awry,
And the weathermen now tell us a different story.
I remember early one April, not so very long ago,
I awoke in the morning, to a thick layer of snow.
This phenomenon, they refer to as ‘climate change, ’
Is, indeed, making the weather turn extremely strange.

At Seventeen
I remember you when you were only seventeen
the sun was high above us then
and all the fields were green
and dressed in grey and white
the world was at your feet
but you'd no time for fame or lights
you were myth made real
and every part of me believed
I remember dancing in your arms at Christmas time
the local band played Maggie May;
the world was out of sight
and you were harmony
in every move you made
and I was just a teenage fool
with sense enough to pray
that I might spend some time with you
(chorus)
And now you've crossed the great divide
Your pain is gone, at such a price
And I will think of you, in grey and white,
I will think of you on autumn nights
I will think of you at Christmas time
And I'll think of when your lips touched mine
And I'll remember you at seventeen
When the sun was high
and all the fields were green
I remember you outside the gym when we were young
your eyes were full of sunshine,
there was passion on your tongue
I didn't have the words
to tell you how I felt
but still you took my hand, and walked
where love rose and fell
and I'll remember when we touched
And now you've crossed the great divide
Your pain is gone, at such a price
And I will think of you, in grey and white,
I will think of you on autumn nights
I will think of you at Christmas time
And I'll think of when your lips touched mine
And I'll remember you at seventeen
When the sun was high
and all the fields were green

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Christmas future is far away
Christmas past is past
Christmas present is here today
Bringing joy that will last
Have yourself a merry little christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on our troubles
Will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little christmas
Make the yuletide gay
From now on your troubles
Will be miles away
Here we are as in olden days
Happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little christmas now

Until then, we'll just have to muddle through somehow
And have ourselves a merry little Christmas now.

Significance, winter, November, unfold, union, bay, seemly, sky
Significance, winter, November, unfold, union, bay, seemly, sky
Winter grey has set in
And its November 7th
The skies are too light to early
They are merely and extension of this grey
Upon my rising
The bay is grey the sky and its meeting are one
They are a union
Announcing
Significance
A statement of fullness
It is the linger of these many long months
As they unfold
First fall
Honoring us with its ways of
Offering difference, warm to cold days
Rain
Ice
Sleet
Then snow, then winter
Cold
Bitter brilliance
My afternoon drink is not a warm one
My wandering come with wearing sweaters
And scarves
I for the first time actually see the
Winter coming in over the gulf coast
Unlike in the years past where it was all
Seemly a summer vacation

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light.
From now on, our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yuletide gay (Weihnacht, bunt, lustig).
From now on, our troubles will be far away.
Here we are, as in olden days.
Happy golden days gone by.
Oldest friends who are dear to us,
Gather near to us,
Once more.
Through the years, we all have been together.
If the saints allow, (heilige, erlaubt)
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough,
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now.

September Song
Oh its a long long time from may to december
And the days grow short when you reach september
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
And you aint got time for waiting game
When days dwindle down to a precious few
September november, and these few golden days Id share with you
Those golden days I share with you
When the days dwindle down to a precious few
September november, and all those golden days Id share with you
Those golden days Id share with you
Those golden days Id share with you
Those golden days Id share with you

Blake - (before birth) .
By field and by coppice
By tumbleweed and marigold,
Skipping at the butterflies
And chattering at the wood,
It’s a handful of happiness
With chubby knees and tatters all
That scurries on to Christmas
Where the old grey man stood.
With a starfish in his buttonhole
And a penny wish for the wishing well
He romps home with a puppy dog
And a flower by his ear,
While the old grey man, smiling
Says: ‘Mummy waits, in a little while -’
And I have a little whisper:
‘I love you, my dear! ’

Jane O'Grady
Grey old lady, sat by the sea
With her nimble fingers, weaving,
Jane O’Grady, seventy three
In the world that she was leaving.
Hummed sweet honey from virgin lips
In the way of the wind, sad-sighing,
Carried the song from her fingertips
To the day that she lay dying.
Shuttle sang in the early breeze
To the tune of life’s sweet sorrow:
“God, I’m weary of weaving love,
But I’ll not be here tomorrow.”
Grey old lady, worked with a will
On the shawl of life’s sweet pattern,
Fingers stilled in the dawning chill
As the world turned once too often.
Nevermore will she weave the love
That we borrowed, all unknowing,
Only the rags of the hand-me-downs
With the grey wind blowing.

The Chill Wind
It's 5 O'Clock on a December morn
From out of the east the wind is borne
Dropping temperatures by 20 degrees
Bundle up or you will freeze
To some the cold's a thrill
Strapping on skis to race downhill
Myself, I'd rather be warm
Stay inside to weather the storm
Down streets and alleys it blows
The chill wind which never slows
Picking up debris along it's way
To leave blocks or miles away
But to work I have to go
Clad in layers from head to toe
Walk to the subway in this gale
Watching leaves and paper taking sail
Undergound, the wind's abated
But this line is an elevated
At stops the doors open wide
And the chill wind rushes inside
Back on the street, with my head bowed
'Damn it's cold' I say out loud
Wishing that I was thicker skinned
The better to stand this chill wind

The night I will always remember
Wednesday night at nine thirty
Terror sailed into my city.
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
Gripped with fear, panic and despair…
Grenades and bullets in the air.
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
Tourists slaughtered on their vacation
Everyday folk massacred on a railway station
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
Babies slaughtered in their mother’s womb
Five star hotels have become a mass tomb
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
Children orphaned, a rabbi dead
Terrorists feeling no regret
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
Brave hearts butchered, lives in disarray
One night that lasted three whole days
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
My city is battered
My faith in every politician, shattered
I will always, always remember,
The night of 26th November
