The Rest

The rest of us watch from beyond the fence
as the woman moves with her jagged stride
into her pain as if into a slow race.
We see her body in motion
but hear no sounds, or we hear
sounds but no language; or we know
it is not a language we know
yet. We can see her clearly
but for her it is running in black smoke.
The cluster of cells in her swelling
like porridge boiling, and bursting,
like grapes, we think. Or we think of
explosions in mud; but we know nothing.
All around us the trees
and the grasses light up with forgiveness,
so green and at this time
of the year healthy.
We would like to call something
out to her. Some form of cheering.
There is pain but no arrival at anything.

The Language Of Silence

we cannot often hear...
the whisperings of the grasses,
the chant of trees swaying,
those intimate voices in the wind...
we have no names for these sounds,
these doings outside the cage.

does the body call from the grave?
do bird's wings exchange secrets with the sky?
is the moment just before, and just after,
the last breath... the only eternity we know?
why do we call god, god?
is the atheist closer to the presence?

we go to wars with righteous fever...
we kill as if a gift.... to whom?
we draw our morals with black crayons
on the sheets of our indiscretions..
wearing our holiness like halloween masks...
who are we fooling?

if you must call her god,
i'm sure she weeps...
the lover mourns who walks alone!
the wind has no name,
and that is enough!
the language of silence
smells like nails and tastes like rain!

Something That I Can't Do

how i wish i can imitate
the flow of water in my life
that choice of taking the path
of least resistance

how i wish i can have the language
of the rain
that which assuages pain
that which satisfies the thirst
of grass
that which jives with the slow pacing
of the stones

i can't.

i am already born with the language of
my parents
it is the language that i know
the only language of my body and soul
i have to like it
there is no other sound
no other choice
except to speak it
again and
again.

The Sounds

I can hear her heart beat
It seams a little strong
I can hear the things I did wrong
I can hear her thoughts
By looking in her eyes
I can hear her all the times she cried
I can hear the memories
As they echo off the wall
Falling from the pictures down the hall
I can hear regret
Building up in side of me
And I can hear all the things
I could not see
Those are the sounds of a woman leaving
Stronger then the wind in a willow tree
Those are the sounds of a heart breaking
You can't hear it
But the noise is killing me
I should of heard it coming
But I chose to pretend
I should of recognizes that sound
Way back then
But I just wouldn't listen didn't want to all those years
Now the truth is ringing clear
In my ears
Those are the sounds of a woman leaving
Stronger then the wind in willow tree
Those are the sounds of a heart breaking
You can't hear it
But the noise is killing me
Those are the sounds of a heart breaking
You can't hear it
But the noise is killing me
I can hear it
And the silent is killing me

My Romanian Language

Sweet, melodious there’s no other
like my language in this world,
From the lips of my grandmother,
every word is shining pearled.

It is born straight from the Light,
Sunrise over the Black Sea,
To hear it is a delight,
Oh, how great is my love for thee!

My Romanian language, a treasure
Safely kept inside my soul,
Then released with grace and leisure,
Golden words that made me whole.

You can hear it in the leaves,
when you walk with Eminescu,
In the secret of the breeze,
Trying lovely to impress you.

It is there in melodies,
In the waves of the Danube
In Enescu’s rhapsodies
I can hear it, so can you.

It is there in poetry,
Written in book after book,
Our language molded me,
Blaga, Goga, and Cosbuc.

If you carefully listen,
If you have the time and patience,
I am sure you too can hear it,
At “The Table of Silence”

At “The Endless Column”
With Brancusi dreaming along
Our language so solemn
Like an old, enchanted gong.

In the mountains and the valleys,
In the rivers in the springs,
In the meadows and green alleys,
Unseen angels, touching strings.

Is the language of the songs,
Shepherds playing the whistle for their sheep,
Is that sound where love belongs,
Mama's singing you to sleep.

Sounds of joy, sounds of joy
Oh how I love to hear sweet sounds
Of joy

Sounds of joy, sounds of joy
Oh how I love to hear momma sing
In her morning voice

Sounds of joy, sounds of joy
Oh how I love to be in the presence

Love You Out Loud

I sit in my living room thinking of you
And the feelings I fear are coming true
And everything about you is wrong I know it
But I still taste you on my tongue
And I still breathe you in my lungs
And I wish I could stop breaking down
Wish I could love you out loud
Wish I could love you out loud
But I'll just keep it to myself
Wish I could hear how it sounds
To be with you and no one else
Don't make a sound
Don't tell a soul
It's 7:00am and I just want to call you
And tell you I'm falling in love
But, there's someone else inside these four walls
If she smells you on my skin
I can't let her know where I've been
I wish I could be with you now
Wish I could love you out loud
Wish I could love you out loud
But I'll just keep it to myself
Wish I could hear how it sounds
To be with you and no one else
Wish I could love you out loud
Because I'm under your spell
Wish I could tell the whole world
But I'll just keep it to myself
Don't make a sound
Don't tell a soul
Don't tell them anything
And I won't let you go
Don't say a word
Don't tell a soul
And I shiver at the thought of you
I can't believe that you love me too
And we quiver when we touch
I can't believe I love you so much
And I hate it when you walk away
I know we can't go on this way
But there's magic when we touch
I can't believe I love you so much
Wish I could love you out loud
Wish I could hear how it sounds
Wish I could love you out loud
Wish I could hear how it sounds
Wish I could love you out loud
But I'll just keep it to myself
Wish I could hear how it sounds
To be with you and no one else
Wish I could love you out loud
Because I'm under your spell
Wish I could tell the whole world
But I'll just keep it to myself
Don't make a sound
Don't tell a soul
Don't tell them anything
And I won't let you go
Wish I could love you out loud

Mr. Freeze

Hey Now
This year I've been feeling kinda weary
oh,next year I may not come back at all
sometimes I hear the angels a singing
or I can hear my mothers call
Give me a cadillac for a carriage
and you'll hear my name
whispering through the trees
you can call me Mr. Black
you can call me Mr. Grey
or you can call me simply,
call me Mr. Freeze
And tonight I'm feeling kinda beautiful
tonight I'm feeling kinda warm
and there's a touch of humour
in everything I see
oh there's a touch of scorn
Give me a Mercedes for my baggage
and hear my name on the breeze
you can all me Mr. Black
you can all me Mr. Green
or you can call me simply,
call me Mr. Freeze
If you please Mr. Freeze
Solo
Give me a cadillac for a carriage
and you'll hear my name
whispering through the trees
you can call me Mr. Black
you can call me Mr. Grey
or you can call me simply,
call me Mr. Freeze
oh Mr. Freeze
Give me a Mercedes for my baggage
and hear my name on the breeze
you can all me Mr. Black
you can all me Mr. Green
or you can call me simply,
call me Mr. Freeze
If you please

The Green Dot

A green dot was wandering one day,
Where is its spot, where it can lay! ,
It delayed its arrival,
And all the green is now gone,
The green dot is wandering searching,
Goofing the streets under rain and thunder,
It moves fast and slow, gradual run,
From the shore, to the bays,
When it was deceived by the beauty of trees,
What beauty can it see, but she wasn’t comfee,
Because it wasn’t that green,
What green it could be?
What green does it belong?
It don’t know, but the search seemed to be long,
Oh! Lil green dot, lil green dot,
What is this mess all about?
The lil green dot missed its way,
And now it dun no where to stay,
Where are the other green, where is its stain?
Forever the search, Forever it will feel the pain,
To be away from the other green dots.

Warm Sound

Faith sealer
I don't feel you
Don't hear you speak
Maybe
Someone else will
Help you to see
Warm sounds
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sounds
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me
Fake feeler
I see through you
With my eyes closed
Warm sounds
Falling slowly
Takes the time away from me
Warm sounds
Feeling no pain
Taking the time away from me
They can't tell me
What they can't see
How it feels here
Just how it feels here
Just how it feels here ...

I have some green grapes at their best

I have some green grapes at their best
And I am waiting for you to pass by
For these grapes are of such great taste
It is the truth so I swear and so I sigh

They were raised upon mountains high
where the wind softly blow
and a herd of wild horses feeds nigh
on tall grass blades rooted grow

So this is why my grapes are so sweet
The mountain spring by them lead
Tall reeds guard the gates
To keep out the ugly crow’s gait

Quietly my green grapes wait
For the clock sounds the hour late
What makes you hesitate?
What makes you not keep your date?
Therefore my grapes are so sad
And I am waiting not have gone yet to bed

But here I hear approaching steps from the south
My green grapes are full of hopes for your mouth
But still I am so lonely and sad
Since to bring flowers you forbade

May be next year you change your mind
And to my request you be more kind
And I will bring you flowers from the bowers
Wet with rain of rainbow showers

Disillusionment

Outside the wild stormy wind blows
and it's full of sorrow as if it cannot find any comfort,
in this winter branches are stripped from trees,
and I am blinded, are not able to find hope;
too late I had to learn that love is cruel,
for this great pain there is no forgiveness.

With a kind of innocence I loved you
from the moment that our relationship started
but your treason comes as my greatest fear,
it sounds absurd that there can be pleasure in pain,
and every between us dies with your confession,
for this great pain there is no forgiveness.

The Mining Story

they scraped the hills
with trees
the green grasses of homes
are gone
they dug those big holes
looking for
metals

manganese, gold,
for your jewelries
and other accessories
coal for your
fuels

the natives are dislocated
the children lost their birds
chickens and pigs are butchered
for they have no place
to stay

the hills are like criminals
their heads cut off
the trails here are like
intestines
penetrating the
belly of this
earth

listen! do you hear the drunkards
the government and mining firms!
listen! do you hear the sounds of guns
and the last living screams of the
chieftains
the mayors whom they voted
betrayed them

listen! do you hear the explosions
of bombs
the mountains are cracking
skulls
brains are spilling on the
rocks

listen! do you hear the guards coming
with their M-16s
and barking dogs

Run! Run! Run for your lives
Lest you forget
We are the last chickens and
pigs alive

Do not look back

Those are the children and wives
of the chieftains
Those are the hungry natives
begging in the cities

Their Homes gone
Their Hopes shattered

We Hear the Time

We hear the time-beautiful time-
In the year when the truth is unveiled.

We see the time-beautiful time-
In the year when the light shines upon us.

We smell the time-beautiful time-
In the year when the earth is awakened.

We taste the time-beautiful time-
In the year when the false collapses.

We touch the time with the hands sublime
And the hearts like the sacred lotus.

We feel the time with the light divine
Bursting forth from the depths of despair.

We shout the time when the planets align
Like the sun with its sparkling hair.

We dance the time when the music rhymes
And we set forth where no one dared.

We breathe the time with our bodies supine,
Breathing in the transcendent air.

We speak the time with the language enshrined
In the nebulae debonair.

While the voices scream and the mystics dream
To the minds that are unaware

Of the time that in now, of the beauty within
That the surface things have concealed.

Yes, the time has arrived-beautiful time-
That the prophecies have revealed.

And I am waiting not have gone yet to bed
If you only give your saint like smile in a glance
My face will be covered with happy countenance

But here I hear approaching steps from the south
My green grapes are full of hopes for your mouth
But still I am so lonely and sad
Since to bring flowers you forbade

May be next year you change your mind
And to my request you be more kind
And I will bring you flowers from the bowers
Wet with rain of rainbow showers

A flimsy fancy flattered my mind
Yet again it seemed overbold
If you can just love me for a while short
I always consider you gentle and kind

But sometimes you are remote and cold
May be my approaches are too bold
And most hurtful are your scorns
Sharp and fierce worse than a thousand thorns

Alas, I hear no more sound where I stand
But the rivulet on from the lawn
Running down to the wood sand
And my fear like an evil feeling drawn

My hopes diminished that you eat my green grapes
And feel my pangs and heart aches
This is why I keep talking to my green grapes
So one day you feel my pains and shakes

So please be kind and rethink again
And let me bring you flowers from the plain
Flowers are so much nicer and have various scents
Although green grapes are my dear loyal friends

Strangered In The Night

Well it was dark at midnight
There was hardly any moon
And no one really saw much
No one was really sure
But something didnt seem right
Something seemed kinda queer
The roar turned into whispers
Everyone stood t here
When the sounds fit the night
Something hiding from the light
Like strangers in the night
Well I didnt see them shotguns
I didnt see no knife
I saw this crazy black guy
With a demon in his eyes
I heard him say white man
Ive seen that silver cue
You dont remember me well
But I remember you
When the sounds fit the night
Something hiding from the light
Like strangers in the night
Well the knife just left his fingers
As the black guy took his aim
White guys head exploded
My God how much pain
And then everybody scattered
I heard some woman scream
God damn you old black bastard
Youve blown away my dreams
When the sounds fit the night
Something hiding from the light
Like strangers in the night

Silent Language Of Grief

tears are the silent language of grief
Taht mostly provide us comfort and grief
When once they quietly all fall down
On grass that's green or on mud taht is brown

Because they are very precious and rare
that no one whenever wants can spare
Becaus eit only comes with the pain
that we get like an unpredictable rain

So then after facing agony and distress
And all life's lies, fib and mistrust
What is left for us to feel
That afterwards every one has to deal

Is the silent language of our grief
that gives us way to find a relief
Through the path of life's precious tear
That not only sounds but is very rare.

Elliot's Oak

Thou ancient oak! whose myriad leaves are loud
With sounds of unintelligible speech,
Sounds as of surges on a shingly beach,
Or multitudinous murmurs of a crowd;
With some mysterious gift of tongues endowed,
Thou speakest a different dialect to each;
To me a language that no man can teach,
Of a lost race, long vanished like a cloud.
For underneath thy shade, in days remote,
Seated like Abraham at eventide
Beneath the oaks of Mamre, the unknown
Apostle of the Indians, Eliot, wrote
His Bible in a language that hath died
And is forgotten, save by thee alone.
