Die Or Fly
Dangerous Reality TV ‘Hoarders' - people
collecting trash till drowning in houses like
garbage dumps made me feel I have to get
rid of my papers and books, life's useless;
at least I tidied my cupboard
Books read yesterday led to nihilism, wilful
acceptance of mental handcuffs unsettling,
self-declared intention to take free-thinkers
hostage, ‘Feet of Clay': Discworld religious
groups calling Golems an abomination
Just as Internet clergy reject codes in Bible; I
respect their right to self-righteously despise
anything they cannot comprehend - as long
as I never get to meet them, determined to
flee all causes of depression
Reading newspapers a disaster except when
Adapt Or Die becomes Adapt Or Fly, I had
to smile - we are adapting still and shall not
Die or Fly at political behest!

On Books
Books are my first love, I’m so proud to read;
They give me knowledge and help life to lead;
Hours, days just pass by, by reading life-time;
Life would not be worth, if not for my rhyme.
Great are those people who write books all life;
Burning just candles, with Goose-quills in strife;
Tired of writing though day-long or night,
They keep on writing in such a bad light.
Books serve a great cause; their value can’t cease;
It takes years to write but reading is ease;
Book-makers struggle to print a few books;
And keep spending time to, improve their looks.
Some find their way to libraries in town;
Some remain untouched and nev’r taken down;
Silver-fish, Moths eat the books that are old;
Some are gone obsolete, some sold like gold.
Some are in tatters and must be rebound;
Books are Man’s best friends where solace is found;
Reading for long hours, does help you to learn;
Books give much knowledge and wisdom to men.
Read books with great care whose weight is in gold;
Serve generations though they may be old;
Source of much Info, deserving respect;
Books are life-partners whom you ne’er reject!

Hoarder Or Collector (Fun Poem 101)
Some of us are hoarders
and we don’t know where to stop.
We say we are collectors,
of rubbish maybe.
For a long time I have loved books
and collected every waif and stray.
People gave them to me by the dozen
and I never turned them away.
My collecting went so mad
I have now ten thousand or more
within my library.
Enough is enough I would say,
but still more arrived.
Now I don’t live in a house anymore,
as it has become a library.
There are books in every room
and not just one or two,
but dozens and dozens of them.
Everywhere you go;
there are books here and there.
Now I must down size
and my problem is
which ones do I let go,
and then I think
I might want to read a couple of them.
I am confused at what to do.
I know if I don’t do it soon
we won’t be able to
even get into the loo!
19 April 2009
Author’s note:
Loo is a word we use instead of saying Toilet. And, yes, I have that many books and I do have to get rid of some.

Laissez-Faire Despair
I measure my state of depression by the books I am able to read,
when it becomes impossible to enjoy any hilarious romp by Terry
Pratchett, when Ecclesiastes and Proverbs are the only reading
material with any relevance - my mental gyroscope has come to
a standstill
As noise irritates me more and pressure is forcing me out of my
head and all I want is darkness, silence and death, it is time to
take drastic steps to feel better again, as I waft about in a smell
of Vicks VapoRub and swallow coloured pills by the handful
hour after hour
And start to hate and despise all forms of consciousness and life,
seeking the meaning of existence as opposed to happy non-being,
it is time to visit a quack to obtain poisonous concoctions and life-
shortening toxins to take the seasonal discomfort away, to stop
the disease
Which leads straight to the nihilism of laissez-faire despair

Leopard-Crawling Worm
Lyall Watson says the moon determines how
we feel, full moon next week no werewolf or
vampire syndrome should appear as yet, but
I feel bad, twisted my ankle on the treadmill
it's throbbing and my head hurts
Everyone sharing my date of birth stayed home
today: one wants to resign, the other never comes
to work, another suffers sinus attacks - everything
seems to confirm Watson's Supernature theory -
I should run and hide
Even the books I read are menacing, confusion
and blackouts in Agatha Christie - the beloved
Golems suicidal in Feet of Clay, even the jokes
I read today could not make me smile, this is
pre-ordained misery
I shall sink into the pit of depression until moon
and seasons change - let me wallow in self-pity
and flee physical pain, no more treadmill until
the planets change configuration, currently
electromagnetic waves
Are disrupting the matrix of life for all January -
February born, I should join the rest, climb
into bed and not surface again until planets
have been rearranged, I cannot face
another day
As a depressed leopard-crawling worm, swollen
ankles and barbed-wire brain, crying in my
chair…

cn U rd ths? Its nt gd nws...
The National Literacy Trust in Britain
did a survey and
- yes, you guessed -
57% read 'only a bit' or not at all
and 25% of the older ones said
they had no intention to
read any more than this
So what do they read when
they read?
Well, mags,
and websites
and txt msgs of course
and jokes,
and TV books and mags
and e-mails
and eighth on the list comes fiction
that's made-up stories, right?
right
then comix ninth
then newspapers well
they're just for people
who don't have TV and
don't mind waiting 12 hours
to read the news put that tenth
what's that? poetry?
sorry would you spell that
oh poetry nah
girls said, they read
to find out how other people live
and feel and
to help them understand
more about themselves
boys said, they read
because they have to and
because it helps them
get a job so
some old farts might say
put up a sign
civilisation's postponed until further notice
but it may all work out
well it'll have to

In Hell
You live by the book of wonders,
The book has hell on it when opened.
The inferno carries pits too grilling,
The grills are offered by devils,
Contagious diseases are handed over
To the body and bones, full of hatred.
A hell of books is opened by the librarian,
You choose a simple verb to read,
Then this verb is read, the verb that signals death.
Your death must never come by reading books,
Long scrolls so wonderful,
Of books the world is made
And the reason for books is reading,
Not living in Hell.

I still love books. Nothing a computer can do can compare to a book. You can't really put a book on the Internet. Three companies have offered to put books by me on the Net, and I said, 'If you can make something that has a nice jacket, nice paper with that nice smell, then we'll talk.' All the computer can give you is a manuscript. People don't want to read manuscripts. They want to read books. Books smell good. They look good. You can press them to your bosom. You can carry them in your pocket.

They EXIST - That Is All
Looking at commentary of erudite scholars
always superior to anyone else, being a gift
to mankind, I raise my unenlightened voice
to say what Bible Code claims mean to me,
the smallest bookworm that has ever been:
Such a code confirms the spiritual assertion
the Energy forming the universe is conscious,
intelligent, well-meaning and life-sustaining -
all examples of time-spanning non-sensory
communication such as these Bible Codes
Enlarge the spectrum of possibilities posited
by quantum physics, it is a joy to the thinking,
dreaming, feeling mind to find ever-widening
spirals of alternatives to the little bit of world
confirmed painstakingly by human scientists
As long as we remain free to study anything
the imagination can envision without bending
to the authority of science and religion alike,
without forcing anybody to pay homage to
us, the way science and religion compel
People to subscribe to their subjective theories;
we shall be all-right, as long as we reject claims
of other people's non-sensory experience and
only believe in what we individually live and feel,
we shall become independent thinkers - and
Dream up a separate world for each one of us,
unique, subjective and individual; no-one allowed
to proselytise - only to sing their own song while
followers are simply told to go find or make their
own way…
A scientist can only find proof of something, the
public is free to ascribe meaning to it; nobody
should be compelled to agree with anyone else,
everybody is free to make up their own story
and live it
As long as they respect the right of their
neighbours to do the same…

Moving Picture
When two take gas
by mutual consent
and the cops come in
when the walls are broken down
and the doctor pays respects
by closing the books
and the neighbors stand about
sniffing and afraid
and the papers run a brief
under a whiskey ad
and the news is read
eating ice cream or a fruit
and the paper is used
to wrap peelings
and the garbage man
dumps the barrel
into the truck
and the paper flares
in the furnace and sinks back
charred and is scooped up
for mud flats and pressed down
by steam rollers for hard ground
and a house on it
for two to enter

Suicide & Depression Of My Life.
Suicide. Is a big part of my daily income.
Suicide. Made My docter give me those drugs.
Suicide. Makes My life hole.
Suicide. I dont know any better.
Suicide. Theres no life for me with shelter.
Suicide. Can i ever be happy.?
Suicide. I push myself away from loving another.
Depression. Has made me a horrible person.
Depression. Pushed me away from the ones i needed.
Depression. Made me a bad person., as though im told.
Depression. Was caused by this thing called Shizophrenia.
Depression. Is something im told i will have to live with for the rest of my life.
Depression. Please, please. Help me. I want to get out.
Suicide. My wrists, they bleed more then enough.
Suicide. It hurts me, on inside and out.
Suicide. The day will come soon.
Suicide. Im over it, bring me a knife.
Suicide. This is hurting me so much.
Suicide. My hearts ripped apart.
Suicide. Dont worry this wont be the end.
Suicide. I will see you again.
Suicide. I love you, and that will never change.
Suicide. This isnt your fault.
Suicide. So goodbye to you, i love you, goodnight.
Suicide. Dont let me ruin your life.
*READ* To everyone who read this, this is pretty much what i have to feel each day, i have mental health problems, and thats something i have to live with, im only young so i have learnt to grow with it. Please, to anyone who think about suicide, dont.. It not only hurts you, but hurts people around you, and iv learnt that along the way. So be happy with what you have, and the people you've got. And be glad you dont have a mental disorder and a disease. It hurts, so bad. =(

My little book
blind as I was, deaf as my friend yet! have
gone as furthest as the universe, I thought
that was only a great dream of my past
laughing me seems to easy, for once I was
a little child is always a child, it was the day
where my father and mother hold me so tight,
closing my bulging eyes as they read, telling
some fabulous stories and then gradually falls
my attentive ears down to my sight and there
no more
all comes to meet my fantastic imagination,
making my childhood memories filled it all, with
what is all remembered is not what it makes, for
what ever is heard now has gone as it is done
books tells me different stories, that relates my
ways, for I taste of what is the past and today, simply
I know that hearing is not reading and reading is
always remembering
my little book paved me the way that in my little
room I will be free....read and read and read...the
only way to visit and see, of what is yesterday for
the future belongs today.....and reading always
become part of me

Books To Be Read
A bottle of books seems to be drunk by men,
Losing is abusing, reading can keep flow;
Where words rescue, we understand simply
Like authentic tastes, the rallies of fortune.
The real boss of books is called the bible
Of the results, on Wednesday our uniform
Is dressed to wages, towards the harbour.
I sail out to the sea of urchins, beauty has met me;
Loathe me when I sink, and stutter my words
Of importance that I achieve, since it cancels me.
I can not read according to wisdom of books,
For my vocabulary rests, loiters and repairs the ills.

Nest In My Bed
Enough books to create
ambiance in my room -
build a nest in my bed,
anxiety requires travel
between quotes I love
Can't spend three days in
spearmint only, need some
chocolate, meat & veggies
also, books in all flavours,
teddies and my paper-doll
Vivid Verse, Soul Music by
Pratchett, Agatha Christie -
tie down my mind at night &
for the trip by bus, a juvenile
Horror High - Killer Instinct
To combat all fear - Feet of
Clay - should speeches be
too menacing, words can
change mental states -
I feel secure
In preternatural spheres, no
emotional upset - books are
survival, nourishment and
divine help all in one

Save Me Instead
Rima never watches scary movies while I never read
sad books; trusting Jean Ure to be a good author for
children, I read her book, expecting the abused kids
to escape nasty parents – it did not happen; leaving
me with a gaping hole in my heart
The whole world bathed in a sad grey light, yet it was
necessary to feel this sadness tonight, felt melancholic
and useless all day: my eighteen year old kid getting
angry at me and nearly crashing, not stopping at stop
streets and barging in front of people
Not listening to me, stalling the car on a steep incline,
stalling on the road because changing gears down is
too much effort for the lofty ‘Madame’, I am a failure
as driving instructor, a failure at work, no documents
received for processing, no idiots writing
To the President, they might have made me angry, but
it would have meant being useful- I’m only an oxygen
thief trying to learn about quantum physics instead of
trying to meet demanding requirements, this is most
unsettling, my mind is unhinged, I’m lost
I have nothing to rant and rave about, just the cold
knowledge that I have nothing to dream about after
reading the world is well-ordered and does not need
saving, if I cannot save it, the world must save me
instead, give me a goal to accomplish…

books after being read
become nothing
but things
books unread
are treasures of gold
undiscovered
beneath your feet
books unshared
are thoughts unspoken.

The Romance Of A Book
Reading a book, you're hit by romance,
No matter the subject matter,
You can read and read,
And every book is different,
Some stories are more pleasant than others,
While some are funny, but most are serious,
For the romance of a book,
Is in everyone's heart,
No matter their age or height,
Whether male or female:
It is all relative and I devour,
Each and every book,
I can read the classics,
Or even a heart-warming romance,
I just get through so many books,
I love every storyline,
Not so much the gory parts,
But the cleverness of the fictional detectives,
And those rock stars that roam the stage,
For a book is something that will never age,
No matter how many years on the shelf,
And stories can be shared with everyone else,
Yet everyone has their own views,
And books can be lifting when they're feeling blue,
For people have been reading fiction for centuries,
But, of course, not all books are fictional:
There're the historical books, interesting,
Even if a reader is just passing through,
And we can all learn something from the history books,
And let's not forget the autobiographies:
Many a man and woman fascinating,
Having lead unique lives and having had special loves,
And there is a romance to these people,
For they walked the same earth as everyone else,
Yet brought something strange and special to the world,
Like a scientist making a new discovery,
Or a rock star penning a hit song,
And all these things are which make books belong,
I haven't met anyone yet who finds books boring,
Because books are not boring: they are fascinating,
Unique, special, strange, romantic and enjoyable,
And every reader's dream: like hitting 'play' on a record,
For this is the romance of a book.
