Mothers' Forever Stay
When the storm raged
Fell the trees,
Lightening struck
And cloud burst,
Rain lashed on the roof
And tiny white balls
Gathered at our door;
I remember how I would run
With a pounding heart
And hide my face in your sari folds
Until the storm spent… left.
You took me to the courtyard
And pointed at the mango tree;
See, the trunk, didn’t yield to wilful storm.
It’s grounded with roots deep into the earth.
The top shook like you.
I nodded as if I understood.
All I cared for was her nearness
And familiar fragrance.
As I grew old, her morning chants woke
Me from deep slumber, and I lingered in bed
Listening to her footsteps… reassured.
Looking back, when life threw some difficult tests
I had learnt to anchor myself in my breath.
Now there are no sari folds
But what she told
Guides me through highs and lows.
Mother, your little girl is all grown up now,
Just because you showed her how.
Pray mother,
How did you always know
What to say?
Even today I can feel your presence
For mothers never leave,
They forever stay.
a tribute to my mother on her birthday, written on 1st August.

Calming the mind! ! ! !
The high tide
Washed away my footprints
On the beach
I gazed
From atop
A rock…
What will it take
To wipe clean my mind,
Of passions that
Arouse and hound?
More than a wash cloth,
I used, to clean the slate
As a child,
When some one scribbled
That I didn’t like…
I wish
I could unplug
The power supply
that feeds on my mind...
Recall, how I would
Hide in the folds
Of my mother's saree
When a storm raged
And lightening struck,
feeling safe.
I know, this too
Shall pass.
After a stone is thrown
in water, ripples do settle.
What would life be
If one didn't grow,
And learn to go home
to oneself...

From the House of Yemanjá
My mother had two faces and a frying pot
where she cooked up her daughters
into girls
before she fixed our dinner.
My mother had two faces
and a broken pot
where she hid out a perfect daughter
who was not me
I am the sun and moon and forever hungry
for her eyes.
I bear two women upon my back
one dark and rich and hidden
in the ivory hungers of the other
mother
pale as a witch
yet steady and familiar
brings me bread and terror
in my sleep
her breasts are huge exciting anchors
in the midnight storm.
All this has been
before
in my mother's bed
time has no sense
I have no brothers
and my sisters are cruel.
Mother I need
mother I need
mother I need your blackness now
as the august earth needs rain.
I am
the sun and moon and forever hungry
the sharpened edge
where day and night shall meet
and not be
one.

More Than A Mother
More Than a Mother by Kenny Davis
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re a better part of my heart
Through all the tears, I look to you
For me, that’s where the joy starts
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re more like a guiding light
There in the mists of the darkness
I am drawn to you, burning so bright
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re like the sunlight after the rain
A comfort after the troubles
Removing all of my pain
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re my calm before the storm
Keeping me grounded, keeping me focused
So my faith may take its form
You’re more than a mother to me
My personal North Star
Finding myself following your glistening glow
For times, when I shall stray afar
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re like the first day of spring
Each smile from you, a simple ray of sunshine
Angels and birds would sing
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re my absolute best friend
Of all the times we have spent and shared
I hope and pray they never end
You’re more than a mother to me
You’re truly one of a kind
I am truly blessed to have a mother like you
I am glad to say you’re mine

Light House! ! ! ! ! !
Am overwhelmed with guilt, you see,
Due to paucity of time, my deadlines
Thought you alone will understand,
I axed your name off the do list.
I don’t know where I got the beliefs…
Those are now obsolete and bind.
I have rewritten my own script,
With the pressure off, I feel relieved.
The tree rooted, though shook, withstood the storm
Power failed, lightening struck… shuddered,
Grateful for darkness, after a pause, mother
Said, thanks for being candid, go spread wings.
Umbilical cord, dear was severed long ago,
Hush fell after the storm, lights came on.
Mother smiled, despite shadows and dark rings
Don’t you see we both want the same thing?
Her silhouette, tall and proud in the dawn light.
I wonder; if you are aware, have suspended dreams
Come here, how pretty ships look from afar… twinkling
See how bright the light house looks, a beautiful sight…

Thank Mother Earth Each Day
If you have a pain that won't go away
at least stand on Mother Earth during the day.
You also need the sunlight of Father Sun
he uplifts the spirit of everyone.
Mother Earth is more in sync then you know
visualize be rooting to her in a storm.
Your brain and her have same hertz frequency
which is very healing.
Your root chakra is a deep red
think of Mother Earth when you lay in bed.
See Mother Earth as your life line
your first chakra is associated with your spine.
So ground yourself everyday—
thank Mother Earth for
having things come your way.

A Poem for Mothers, and Mine
The love of a mother is beyond compare
One who dearly loves and is always there
From scraped knees
To falls from trees
A mother cares for all
From “I told you so”
To “That’s a no-no! ”
A mother answers the call
Mothers cook, mothers clean, some even work a job
Even with all their strength, a mother still knows how to sob
Mothers should be honored for all they have done
Every day of the year, not just one
There is nothing better than a mother’s love
For her time on this earth thank God above
A mother’s love endures forever
Its unbreakable bonds no on can sever
No matter how much I have grown
My mother’s love is always shown
She has become a mentor and a guide
Within her always I am able to confide
No better payment for her I can find
Then to love her with heart, and with mind
To the one who bore me; I share my emotion
To the one who raised me; Absolute devotion
To this woman I express my joy
You will always be my “mommy” and I your “baby boy”

Mother, Unreplaceable Woman
When I was made,
And suddenly born in to this world,
From mother's belly,
And breath my first air, , ,
Grateful that I can saw how beautiful,
My mother face with a glittering tears,
Carried me with happiness,
And that's the first time I feel calm, , ,
Protected and be loved, ,
And finnaly grew older,
Be a nice girl,
Against the world on own,
Cause mother's tolds,
not Fairy tales, but some act, , ,
But it just make me remember,
How old you are,
Look at the way,
And cried with all that misery, , ,
But kept still strong,
Never be wrong,
And try to go on,
Never give it up, , ,
You teach me, sing to me,
Tell me when I was wrong,
Help me to understood,
Always on my side, , ,
This day, I remembering,
Fifty Three Years has passed,
13 November 2008,
I circle it on the date note, , ,
You've been here along that journey,
Across that many barrier and challenge,
Go around the world to see,
For more knowledge and study,
At this 13 November 2008,
The rain falling,
followed by my said,
From the far at upstairs,

Lazarus Heart
He looked beneath his shirt today
There was a wound in his flesh so deep and wide
From the wound a lovely flower grew
From somewhere deep inside
He turned around to face his mother
To show her the wound in his breast that burned like a brand
But the sword that cut him open
Was the sword in his mothers hand
Every day another miracle
Only death will tear us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
Id be the blood of the lazarus heart
The blood of the lazarus heart
Though the sword was his protection
The wound itself would give him power
The power to remake himself at the time of his darkest hour
She said the wound would give him courage and pain
The kind of pain that you cant hide
From the wound a lovely flower grew
From somewhere deep inside
Every day another miracle
Only death will keep us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
Id be the blood of the lazarus heart
The blood of the lazarus heart
Birds on the roof of my mothers house
Ive no stones that chase them away
Birds on the roof of my mothers house
Will sit on my roof some day
They fly at the window, they fly at the door
Where does she get the strength to fight them anymore
She counts all her children as a shield against the pain
Lifts her eyes to the sky like a flower in the rain
Every day another miracle
Only death will keep us apart
To sacrifice a life for yours
Id be the blood of the lazarus heart
The blood of the lazarus heart

Black cloud in a storm
Black cloud in a storm
I fell lkie a black cloud in a storm.
But stuck in the storm I am.
So depressed so sad.
Hurt angry and alone.
Death now will be the end of me.
I cant live another day.
Another day in the storm.
I want to go to sleep
And not wake up again.
So so very tired.
I'll always be in the storm.
For as long as my heart beats.
When my heart stops beating.
I'll be out of the storm.
And once again free

Close to the Edge
My father was a sailor
He was always off the shore,
And I’d watch his sailboat ‘Ransom’
As it gaff-rigged past our door,
And he told me – ‘When you’re old enough
I’ll show you where they dwell,
The mermaids, with their necklaces,
Made out of cockleshells!
Then out on the verandah
He would stare straight out to sea,
Where the sun meets the horizon
Then he’d sit me on his knee,
And he’d tell me tales of Morgan,
Tales of Captain Kidd and Co.,
When they roamed the Caribbean
In the days of long ago.
He would sail out in the summer,
He would sail out in the fall,
He would sail to the horizon
In the mist, and through a squall,
And he always took his bo’sun
‘Shifty’ Dick, who trimmed the sail,
Drank the ‘Ransom’ dry of whiskey,
Lashed his wrist, hard to the rail.
Then one winter, storm capped waters
Beat unceasing on our shore,
And my mother lit the lantern
Kept a vigil by the door.
But the ‘Ransom’ kept its secrets
Never came to shore again,
And my father joined the history
Of all seafaring men!
I grew and took my lessons
In a little trailer-sail,
When my mother wasn’t watching;
She would cry, and she would wail:
‘Don’t you ever let me catch you,
Staring, looking at the sea,
It’s enough I lost your father…’
‘Never fret! You won’t lose me! ’
For years I watched them leaving,
All the magic sailing boats,
Some were worth a clear million,
While some could barely float!
I watched as they sailed out, and then
I watched on their return,
But some were lost forever,
Sunk – Exploded - Overturned!
I bought a gaff-rigged schooner,
It had seen far better days,
But I patched it and I painted it,
I called it the ‘Sea Haze’;
I took it out with friends -
We didn’t venture out too far -
But learnt to jib, and trim the sail,
To run along the shore!
Then finally I headed out
To where it all began,
Beyond the far horizon
Where the ‘Ransom’ cut and ran,
The clouds began to gather
And the shades began to steal,
The waves broke on the forward deck
And I clung to the wheel.
The storm clouds that had gathered
Opened up and thundered rain,
It beat upon the masthead, and it
Lashed the sagging main,
It soaked my tiny cabin and it
Churned the heaving sea,
The waves on the horizon
Lay in wait out there, for me!
I sailed right through some warp of space
Or time, or so it seemed,
For then it was I caught a sight
Out there – a Quinquereme!
The rows of oars were stilled, I saw,
But some unholy moan,
Broke through the madness of the storm
And chilled me to the bone!
And then I saw a Galleass,
And then I saw a tramp,
To port there was a Brigantine
To starboard there, a lamp!
A single lamp to light the way
I took my bearings then,
No sign of a horizon there,
I sailed toward the end!
The sea, it fell away just there
And all I saw was space,
The ancients said the earth was flat,
My heart began to race.
A thousand ships lay still out there
A Cruiser, Barque, a Dredge!
They’d sailed in space there since the day
They sailed right off the edge!
The ‘Sea Haze’ raced along a line
Just inches from dismay,
I turned the wheel to head back home,
To live another day,
And then I saw the ‘Ransom’ turning
Slowly in the sky,
While ‘Shifty’ Dick, still tethered,
Floated wide and still and dry!
The ‘Sea Haze’ sits at anchor still
Just out from my back door,
She sank a dozen years ago,
Sat down, hard on the shore.
I never stare out at the sea,
The sea I thought I knew,
For who’d believe the earth was flat?
That’s right! – Not even you!

Mother In Law
(a. toussaint)
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
The worst person I know
Mother in law, mother in law
She worries me so
Mother in law, mother in law
If she leaves us alone
We could have a happy home
Sent from down below
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
Satan should be her name
Mother in law, mother in law
To me theyre about the same
Mother in law, mother in law
Everytime I open my mouth
Steps in trying to put me out
How could you stood so low
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law
Come home with my pay
Mother in law, mother in law
She asks me what I made
Mother in law, mother in law
She thinks her advice is a contribution
If she would leave that would be the solution
Dont come back no more
Mother in law, mother in law
Mother in law, mother in law....

A Tribute to Mothers
Greatest gift of nature
To human creature
Mother, mother and mother
She is the first teacher
Teaching you since you were a babbler
She understood you better than the best
Did every little things in your interest
Loving, caressing touch of a mother
During your waking and slumber
Forgetting your every misdeed
Giving you advice when you need
Her true love is unfathomable indeed
Answering all your queries, paying heed
The safest place is the lap of a mother
Your real resort for all weather
Mother is mother no poor or rich
She does whatever is in her reach
For your happiness and growth
Changing your bad habit like old cloth
Teaching you best manners and conduct
To make you best nature's product
This poem is a tribute to mothers
Read, enjoy and spread the message
O my friends, reader and dear brothers

Storms
no storm has a strong wind
that takes the roof
of your house
that levels coconut
trees to kiss the
ground like some
lizards kissing
the floors
on late afternoons
no storm is harsher
than those that
erases a neighborhood
waters rising
people perishing
cattle and cars
stolen from you
on the wink
of an eye
no storm is greater
than this
this storm inside
us that nobody sees
and feels
except the heart
to a time ticking
and soon
will burst and
kill and erase
the whole world
right at the
very cold stare
of your eyes
the tempest within
and you shall be lost forever
only if you do not
hold on to life
you must beg

I Don't Feel Like It
The sky is blue and a streak of
Magenta hovers beneath the early morning’s sun as
It rises over the treetops-
The air is cool, crisp and invigorating,
Blowing as a gentle breeze through the open crack
In my living room window, inviting me to walk outside-
Today I feel no motivation-
Today I fear the outside world
Today I cannot face-
Inside where all I can hear is the ticking of the wall clock and
The sound of eerie silence interrupting
The voices inside of my mind that wish me ill fate-
Today is just another day- I know today is almost magical,
There is so much outside that seems to be summoning- though
Today I cannot venture outward.
I hear the gentle morning breeze rustling the barren branches upon the trees-
I can recall my mother’s tearful voice and her frequently spoken words
“I don’t feel like it.”
Today I don’t feel like walking amongst nature’s bounty and
As my tears are falling down my flushed cheeks-
I remember my mother and how she didn’t care-
She didn’t care about whether she lived or died and
She didn’t care if the sun was shining or hiding behind clouds of misfortune-
And how I so believed she did not care about me?
The sky is blue in the early morning as
A magenta cloud hovers above the rising sun-
I have been told to try and understand my mother’s plight and
To bring her back inside my memory and wish her well-
My mother is dead and gone and
I cannot bring her back in any way – too much time has passed and
The voices inside of my mind keep telling me- she did not care.
I cannot bring her back- even if she were to become an angel in heaven-
No matter if the sky is blue on an inviting winter day-
I cannot venture outside and I cannot forgive my mother-
Some say I need to try and forgive her before the rain takes over and
Washes away even memories of all of good times-
All I can remember are her words as I repeat them-
“I don’t feel like it.”

Mother....
I am nothing, nothing,
And the bloom is broken.....
She has forgotten to check the locks,
And the monster is loose....
I am no more,
As he takes her with his will....
I am no more,
As my mother told me
The publisher was a lie,
An easy meal for the tiger,
The fanged stranger jumping on the shore....
Maybe it would be easier as a homosexual,
And more translucent as a nun;
The trouble-free men take her in the space
Of commercials,
Taste her like an effortless meal....
But I love her, mother,
And I am the only one,
Though don’t tell father,
Or he’ll eat me, the flatulent bear....
He’ll eat me, and then eat another....
There are strange men doing her as
They are able,
The dime-store strangers with perfect teeth....,
But they will soon decay, mother,
Their tomb-stones facing east....
Even after death has eaten me, mother,
Even after it has cleaned my face,
I will still love upon her, mother,
The hiccupping possibilities
In her womb....
I will still love her mother,
Even as you come out of the still
Young door, mother,
And harp up to the blooming storm...
Can you taste the hyathines,
Blooming in red on the front corner of the rented lawn;
They are a part of the unremembered, mother;
And already gone before the rented dawn,
But I love her still, mother,
Even though I no longer recall who I am,
The airliner is taking off, mother,
And I have to go now
Unto her....
Erin, in that translucent storm:
My face is a hideous mask of Greek tragedy, mother:
But I love her this day,
And the next....
Though that is all I am.....
That is all there is,
The supposition of the beautiful clairvoyant,
The breaking of the luxurious waves
Over to the exorbitant real-estate....
I cannot afford her, mother,
Where I am,
But I will write her again in these few words,
Before the finish line mother,
Where I have lost,
The triumphant men took her,
Mother,
And I don’t have time to recoil, mother,
Though, do you suppose,
She is looking at us strangely, mother?
As if she might love us,
Together, for a little while....
Before un-relaxing Pentecost, mother....
She put us in the zoo,
For all the children to see,
And I cannot recall her name, mother,
Though, unfortunately, mother....
She is standing beside the door, mother,
And I must let her in....
Before she knocks....

I still need a mother
I need a mother who would love me
I need a mother who would take care of me
I need a mother who would understand me
I need a mother for who I am
I need a mother to know me
I need a mother who would be there for me
I need a mother who would not yell at her son
I need a mother who won't push her son away
I need a mother who would not throw me out of her life
Even though I still need a mother
Everyday I try to be nice
Sometime she don't care about me
What I need is a mother who would be there for me
I need a mother who would watch me grow
I need a mother who would celebrate my birthday
I need a mother who would miss me
I need a mother to cry on
I need a mother to know that her son loves her
But she won't let me know her
What I need is a mother
Who is no more now.

The Storm
The clouds turned to gray
The air turned to cold
And I knew by that day
Some evil would unfold.
It arrived without a warning
Along with the pounding rain
And it was gone by the morning
As violently as it came.
But for that night I lived in terror
That night I lived in fright
With every sound I heard
With every flash of light.
Violently came the wind
Terrorizing with no form
Then came the thunder and lightning,
Arriving, was the storm.
Many trees I saw bent
Then God clapped his mighty hand
While many trees were refusing to fall,
But then, a tree didn't stand.
Rushing came the wind
Pounding came the rain
Crashing came the thunder
Quickly, came my pain.
Underneath my bed I hid
From the terror of the storm
And in pain and terror I cried
In horror and pain I moaned.
That night I lived in terror
That night I lived in fright
With every sound I heard
With every flash of light.
And the rain just kept falling
More tears I began to weep
For the wind just kept calling,
Then that night; I fell asleep.
Then morning she finally came
I awoke to the sound of peace and birds
The sound of thunder and rain was gone
Which had awoke my sleeping world.
Then outside towards the sky I stared,
To the clouds God he did call
I saw Gods hand moving the wind
Commanding the rain not to fall.
Then the sun began to shine
So on my knees I fell to pray
Then again, I began to cry
Thanking God; the storm had went away.
