An untold Story of a Pebble
Blissfully, at sunrise, walking
On the white sandy river beach,
I folded my denim jeans,
And bent down to reach
Out for some pebbles
Resplendent in the Sun’s rays,
Below a moss covered rock
In the palest of hues,
Childlike, picture of
Innocence…
Please, I beseech
Let me rest a while,
Am tired of an arduous
Journey…
Did I hear
A silent plea
Or my mind as usual
Was in overdrive…
Tremulously, I put it back
With reverence…
Hey, it called back,
Come again
This is my temporary habitat,
I want to share the story
Of my adventure
And how I ended here.
Although my colour, shape
And size gives away,
It entreated
Like a child
Waiting for a gleam
Of excitement in my eyes
To my surprise
I said out aloud, you bet
I can’t wait,
I shall return at sunset.
But when I went back
Before my eyes
A big, gushing wave
Carried it away…

Bad Denim
You've got a rack so stacked.
When you move,
You're like a 'caddy'.
And smooth like a 'rolls'...
Wherever you go.
Some folks wear jeans,
That scream when they're in them.
My eyes look away...
But on you,
They stay!
Bad denim.
Some other people make them look like,
Bad denim.
They shouldn't even try to fit them,
Bad denim.
When you wear 'your' blue jeans,
You lift my low self esteem.
Some other people need to quit,
Trying to squeeze them till they rip.
Bad denim.
Some other people make them look like,
Bad denim.
They shouldn't even try to fit in,
Bad denim.
When I see you from the back,
There's no sad sagging that's a fact.
You're like a smooth moving 'caddy'.
With a packed stacked rack.
Some folks wear jeans,
That scream when they're in them.
My eyes look away...
But on you,
They stay!
Bad denim.
Some other people make them look like,
Bad denim.
They shouldn't even try to fit them,
Bad denim.
My eyes look away...
But on you,
They stay!

Everybody can't fit in 'em.
Bad denim.
Everybody can't fit in 'em.

I Want to Be Where the Palm Trees Are
I want to be where the palm trees are,
Upon some sunny and sandy beach,
I want to be away from it all-
Out of touch and out of reach.
I want to lose myself in the sea
Or rest upon some moss covered rocks,
To roam about-wild and free-
Away from the crowds, schedules and clocks.
I want a blank canvas to paint anew,
I want a blank page and a childlike mind
To sit on a hilltop with a scenic view,
To see the world to which I was blind.

Some Dreams
She stood out just like a diamond lady
Amongst the tourists in a crowded room
I took her walking on the sandy beaches
Under a silk Carribean moon
That's when she promised that
And I promised this
And till this day I can still picture it
She took my hand
And I took her kiss
So temporary these moments of bliss
CHORUS:
Some dreams just fade away
Like yesterday's sunset
Some dreams are made to stay
She's one dream I'll never forget
Everyday just seemed to go too quickly
And ever night just passed us in a blur
I never noticed the blue skies and waters
Because I only had eyes for her
And so when she promised that
And I promised this
And to this day I can still picture it
She took my hand
And I took her kiss
So temporary these moments of bliss
REPEAT CHORUS
Roll back
Those crazy summer days
Stroll back
I'll find you through the haze
REPEAT CHORUS 2X

God Of The Sun
Written by gerry beckley, 1977
Found on harbor and highway.
God of the sun
Dont make me wait till the morning comes
Light in the sky
Look me in the eye, eye, eye, eye
Dont, keep me waiting around
Too much longer now
Dont, dont keep me waiting around, around, around, around
When I called you from my river of darkness
An echo was all that came back
Saw you wave goodbye
Down the railroad track
Sometimes when youre out and all alone
And you cant find your way back
Wonder if youll ever make it home
God of the sun
Ill be around till the days begun
One sight of your ray
Takes the night away, away, away, away
Oh, but when I walk through that door
Take my hat and my coat off waiting for you to call
I tell you not right now, lady, I got work on my mind
And Ill talk to you soon
Always remember
When I called you from my river of darkness
An echo was all that came back
I saw you wave goodbye
Down the railroad track
Sometimes when youre out and all alone
And you cant find your way back
Wonder if well ever make it home
No more

Sunrise, sunrise
Looks like mornin' in your eyes
But the clocks held 9:15 for hours
Sunrise, sunrise
Couldn't tempt us if it tried
'Cause the afternoon's already come and gone
And I said hoo...
To you
Surprise, surprise
Couldn't find it in your eyes
But I'm sure it's written all over my face
Surprise, surprise
There was something I could hide
When I see we made it through another day
And I said hoo...
To you
Now good night
Throw its cover down
On me again
Ooh and if I'm right
It's the only way
To bring me back
Hoo...
To you
Hoo...

Hammock Upon The Winds
there lies sadness like patches of green moss
sticking upon a rock half covered by the clear water of the river
one may think that sadness will always be there as patches of
what we have always wanted to get rid off like peeling them off gently from
an old sharp and rugged edged rock
sometimes you become so tired planning and doing and then surrendering into the helplessness of a fallen leaf that floats and is carried slowly by the current of the river early morning on a Sunday
when people are not around spending holidays on places that they miss for the whole week
and so one lays its tired body on the side of the river's bank
wades his hands and feels the coolness of the water and then starts to flow and release what he thinks must be given away
one feels the restfulness of finally giving up
of not minding about what cares must be done in order to make
life smoother
flowing and easier like the way the brown leaf floats
like the way the blue clouds drift
like the way we let the moss grow
upon the side of the rock
having more wet times with the clear water of the river
having a clearer view of the orange fish within and the shiny pebbles
beneath them
words lull me like i were carried by the hammock upon the arms of the unseen winds....

Stranglehold
Can I get you to give me a minute of your time?
Can I get you to slip me the answer?
Can I get you to slow me a little of your mime?
You were always a very good dancer
Id be happy to show you a bit of what I found
Id be happy to share in its beauty
Id be happy to lay low inevitably bound
I would only be doing my duty.
I wait, I wait, I can wait, I can wait back in the bar
I can wait, I can wait , I can wait back in the car
Ill be waiting for you
Stranglehold, you know youve got on me
I dont want to go without you.
Stranglehold, youve got me where you want me
But I want to know more about you I want to know more
About you.
Are you willing to wager a little of your life?
Are you willing to take such a gamble?
Are you ready to walk on the edge of the knife?
Then I think we can skip the preamble.
I wait, I wait, I can wait. I cant wait back in the bar,
I can wait, I can wait, I can wait back in the car
Ill be waiting for you. Ill be waiting...
Stranglehold, you know, youve got on me
I dont want to go without you
Stranglehold, youve got me where you want me
And I want to know more about you I want to know more
About you.
I can wait, I can wait back in the bar I can wait, I can wait
I can wait back in the car Ill be waiting for you.

A Sandy Beach In April
I stood on a sandy beach
on an April weekend.
The sun was shining bright
on each wave
that carried its reflection in.
The sky in the west
was filled with mottled clouds
and on occasional breaks;
the sun’s rays peaked through.
An easterly breeze
lifted the sand into little swirls
and carried them a short while
before depositing them down again,
as I walked along a sandy beach in April.

Green River
Take me back to the Green River
Let my troubles roll on down
Take me when the leaves are falling
That's when my baby's love was still around
My memories take me to the Green River
How plain was the picture in my mind
Autumn leaves were paint in the water
Love was shining in your eyes
How I long for us to return
To the love we had back then
Darling, I'll be waiting a lifetime
For you to take me back again
How I miss the sound of the water
Gently flowing past the trees
How I miss your tender kisses
The way you once loved me

A Personal History and Mythology of Blue Jeans
In the old movies,
The women wore
Skirts and dresses.
Marilyn Monroe,
In “River of No Return”,
Had on tight blue jeans.
Mom wore dresses.
(Did women have legs,
Or were they
Like mermaids under there?
And why did they leave
a toilet full of blood, sometimes?)
In the mid ‘50s
She got some tight pants,
With green, vertical lines
And some kind of flower pattern.
She had legs, and an ass.
(toosie, she'd taught us to call it,
A word that sounds like a cushion.)
I felt embarrassed when she wore them.
Then she got a denim skirt.
“It looks like blue jeans! ”
Said my brother Fred.
It did, with stitched, white
Pockets on the rear.
I felt I’d die, that eyes,
My own included,
Would rivet on Mother’s ass.
Blue jeans were for boys.
(Our mythologies, they say,
Determine how we dress—
In this case, how our parents
Dressed us, after the War,
In cities and in suburbs,
Little cowboys everywhere,
Kicking soccer balls
And sliding slides,
Who’d never plowed a field
Or herded cows.
I fantasized of boys, back then,
For blue jeans x-rayed bodies
With their pockets
And their rivets
And their stitches.
“This is beyond
Naked, ” I’d say to myself,
Wondering “Why isn’t it
Against the law? ”
Of course, I never asked aloud.)
And then, in junior high,
One shapely girl
started wearing
Tight blue jeans.
She found the secret first.
(Maybe she’d seen
“River of No Return”.)
Today, half the women
Who walk into the coffee shop
Are clad in that blue intrigue.
After 40 years of contemplation,
My mind still cannot penetrate
The intrigue and the mystery
Or dethrone the mythology
Of those streamlined bodies
That help to bring my world alive,
though clothed
In its illusions.
Strange Meeting Ii
Deep down in the depths of forgotten dreams
So far away so long ago it seems
The memory comes of a distant beach
Pale sand stretching far from reach
It was then I found my princess of the sand.
As I traced the foam, peebles beneath my feet
I looked behind, I saw this one so sweet
She came to me and I saw in her eyes
The heavy toll of a thousand eyes
I called her my princess of the sand.
She stared at me and my mind was in a maze
As we moved along in a summer sea-dream haze
She moved her mouth but there came no sound
The message she brought can never be found
But I called her my princess of the sand.
One moment we walked with the night breeze in our face
Then I looked, shed gone. of her presence there was no trace
Where she went or came from who can know
Or if shell ever return to help me know
Who she is, my princess of the sand.
Sometime when the summer nights come back
Ill go back to the sea, follow that sandy track
Ill look around, hope to find
That strange young dream, close behind
Ill call her my princess of the sand.

Snapshots
Just across the busy road and the crowded cityscape,
Ocean waves playfully froth and undulate, while I gape.
All you have to do is to turn your back to the city,
And captivated, feel filled with serenity…
From the distance hooting, leisurely ships approach,
I walk towards a beckoning rock, shining and smooth.
Sail boats from afar; appear as colourful, tiny dots
My mind’s eye is busy capturing the snapshots.
Tanned fishermen return with the day’s catch and nets
Sun is spreading its amber steaks and aura in the west.
Soon city dwellers flock to the cool sandy beach,
How lucky, it is walking distance and within reach.
Taken by surprise, a huge wave drenches one and all,
Children go on screaming with delight and play ball.
Rejoicing in the company, I watch the distant horizon,
It seems the sky has come down to converse with the ocean…

Asthenia
Last night it came as a picture
With a good reason, a warning sign
This place is void of all passion
If you can imagine it's easy if you try
Believe me I failed this effort
I wrote a reminder this wasn't a vision
This time where are you Houston
Is somebody out there will somebody listen
Should I go back should I go back should I
I feel alone and tired
Should I go back should I go back should I
I hope I won't forget you
My head is made up of memories
Most of them useless delusions
This room is bored of rehearsal
And sick of the boundaries
I miss you so much
Should I go back should I go back should I
I feel alone and tired
Should I go back should I go back should I
This time I don't want to
Should I go back should I go back should I
I feel alone and tired
Should I go back should I go back should I
I hope I won't forget you
Should I go back should I go back should I
I feel alone and tired
Should I go back should I go back should I
This time I don't want to
Should I go back should I go back should I
I feel alone and tired
Should I go back should I go back should I
I hope I won't forget you

Collecting Pebbles
It was from the sands of a windswept beach
I picked up pebbles that were easy to reach.
They had attracted my attention while walking by
their coloured well formed shape caught the eye.
There were so many to choose from I had to decide
in selecting those which my fancy would coincide.
It’s truly amazing what some people see in stone
a subject in which a lot of our imagination is prone.
It was almost as if I’d found treasure on the seashore
and couldn’t help myself as I looked around for more.
The simple joy of collecting something that attracts the mind
is an age old activity which all people do have of some kind.
There were the questions of how many would I take
and what, if anything with them, one could make?
They were so abundant and all varied mostly in size
that it wasn’t hard to imagine an object or visualize.
It was also only the first location at which I found
that I thought surely there must be others around.
So with a sense of adventure I looked forward to explore
another beach while making my way home along the shore.
There were several other stops made further on the way
collecting various coloured pebbles amidst the sea spray.
Many times would I get my sandals wet along that coast
going amongst rocks and sand to the waters edge at most.
It was with a sense of gain and loss then after I’d taken enough
deciding right there and then to stop collecting which was tough.
The next step would be to think about and see what I would do
with all those beautiful pebbles gathered while passing through.
Maybe I could approach someone with the right flair and skill
who could make something with them and imagination fulfill.
That natural forming eroding action of water, ice, wind and sand
rarely requires the finishing touches of some other skillful hand.
Perhaps in fashioning some jewellery using metal to bind
a few pebbles together that are different or a similar kind.
Or maybe I could just keep some myself and give the rest away
a gesture of friendship toward which our memories would play.
Yes it was from the sands of many a windswept lonely beach
I came accross and collected pebbles that were within reach.
Isn’t it truly amazing what some people see in stone?
a subject in which much of our imagination is prone.

I Want Rock & Roll
I want to go back to fifty-five
Ten before i was burned alive
There ain't no use in a stupid dream
My head is tired from this enthymeme
I want to hear the holy ramage
I don't mind a little ear damage
Henry sloane in my soca soul
I'm not ashamed to say i want rock & roll
I'd like to hear some cubby checker
Crush my heart with desmond dekker
Little itty bitty of freddy fender
Start me up return to sender
I want rock & roll
I want rock & roll
I want rock & roll
I want rock & roll
I want rock & roll

Ultimate
It's been a while since i've scarcely moved
The earth vibrates through my skinny shoes
I think i heard a voice, not long ago
Stuck in anxiety for tommorow
I think i glimpsed a smile, not long ago
It breaks down, an angelic halo
You're not alone....not alone
Be gone, he fades
I wonder if he'd run away
I miss his dashing steps
I miss his shiny compliments
Yesterdays without an address
The ultimate sunset...
My ultimate sunset....
Oh, inhaling obsession
Fading depression
I turn my lights on,
Denying aggression
And i run as fast as the horizon
While the evening's slowly rising
I reach the skies, with opened eyes
To catch the stars of different types
Not the rare one caught....yet
The ultimate sunset....
My ultimate sunset....
You're not alone...
Im here on my own...
Still i think im not alone...
As i lie my head on top of grass...
To praise the sky and everything vast...
Even with a wounded back....
I think im just going to relax.....
To watch this view...
Displaying you.....
The ultimate sunset
My ultimate sunset
And the sunrise that's yet to come...
Oh, my sunrise that's yet to come...
Oh, i will be waiting right here.....
Where you crawl beneath my fears....
A pulse or a shiver.....
Sweet rather than bitter....
Oh, i will be waiting for once.....
I will be watching the skies
I will be watching this life
For the ultimate sunrise....
My ultimate sunrise to come....

Someone Is Going To Pay For This
'MOMMY? '
Why are you screaming like that?
You nearly scared me to death.
That look...
In your eyes.
What is wrong?
'Mommy?
The sky.
I saw the sky...
And it was blue.
No?
What did I tell you about lieing?
'It's true mommy.
It's true.
My friends and I just left the beach.
And it was covered with...'
Go on!
Don't cry.
Mother's here.
'Mommy?
It was covered with 'white' sand! '
LIES!
'And...
We saw people smiling.
At us.'
Where is my gun?
I want you to stay in this house.
Go to your room.
Don't go anywhere.
I'll be right back.
'Where are you going, mommy? '
Someone is trying to feed my child with delusions.
And I don't like it one bit.
We are here to trash this world.
Not respect it.
Do you understand that?
DO YOU?
'Yes, mommy! '
You go to your room.
I'll be right back.
Someone is going to pay for this.

Goin' Back To Cali
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali.. hmm, I don't think so
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali.. I don't think so
Going back to Cali, stylin, profilin
Growlin, and smilin, while in the sun
The top is down, on the black Corvette
And it's fly, cause it's sittin on Dayton's
Laurents steering wheel, plushed out, gold-leaf phantom top
and three girls waiting
VRRRROOM engine's blowin, the chrome, is shining
Passing all the cars on the way
Movement of the wind, back wheels spin
Pop in a cassette and push play
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali - yea y'all, I don't think so
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali..
I'm going back to Cali, shakin 'em, bakin 'em
Takin 'em to spots they never before hung
?? the place, on Sunset it's a trip
Where the A.C.'s cold, and the girls still strip
The record skip, but this girl kept dancin
Prancin, grindin, grinnin, romancin
I asked her to the barn, so we could hit the hay
I wanna do this, Brutus, but I don't wanna pay
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali - no man I don't think so
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali..
..
I'm going back to Cali, rising, surprising
Advising realizing, she's sizing me up
Her bikini - small; heels - tall
She said, she liked, the ocean
She showed me a beach, gave me a peach
and pulled out the suntan lotion
Now I thought that was fast, but this girl was faster
She's lookin for a real good time
I said, "Close your eyes, I got a surprise,"
and I ran away with the bottle of wine
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali.. I don't think so
I'm going back to Cali, Cali, Cali
I'm going back to Cali.. I don't think so
