Of Unspoken Women
(10/8/12)
They are known by many names - prostitute
Hookers, ladies of the night, escort services, call girls
But what's in a name! it's a trade name like electrician
Carpenter, plumber, doctor.
First and foremost she is a daughter - has a mother
And may even be a mother.
You may not accept her as a sister, a cousin, or an aunt
But she is still blood.
her ways of thinking and living
May be different from you
But do not criticize unless you've walked
A mile in her shoes.
She may open her legs to all and any man
But there is one thing you must understand.
She is a woman with many needs
And on this men do feed.
She puts to use what GOD has given
And that's how she earns her living.
She knows that these are her tools
For her to survive - and it's one of a kind.
Her tools can be used in so many different ways
Whether she stands, sits, or even lays.
She does the same things that all women do
She even has dreams just like you.
There are many who use their income
From day to day - then there are the ones
Who use a lay- a-way.
They're the ones who think ahead
And 30% goes into the bank instead.
So when their bodies tell them it's time to quit
And to enjoy life
By then they've accumulated a nice slice.
Now I decided to figure it out
What their lives are all about.
Using a very low figure, even thou
It can be much bigger.
If they have ten johns at twenty dollars a pop
Each day for a five day week.
10x 20 = 200 a day times 5 days =1000.00
A week times 4 weeks is 4000.00
At 30% being banked is 1200.00 per month
Times 12 months is $14,400 a year for 20 years
Is $ 288.000 dollars.
This is a low figure, and how many of us can
Retire in twenty years and have saved this amount?
So with this in mind- who are we to criticize.

Twenty year old friendship
Twenty year old friendship
It was this month
Twenty years ago
I came across you
And took you with me
Since then
You are my conscious keeper
I looked at you
For anything and every thing
I look at you
As soon I wake up
I look at you
As I take my breakfast
I look at you
As I leave for office
Whenever there are challenges
I look at you
And you always give me a breather
And you used to say
There is time still
When I look at you in the event
Of an unfavourable situation
You smile with your hands spread
And say
You should have done something about this
Much earlier
Whenever I am in a rush
Whether it is to attend a meeting
Or to catch a flight, train or bus
I look at you
You will say either there is time still
Or you should have left earlier
It is difficult to say
As to when I have not consulted you
Every now and then
I look at you
And you never failed me
You were prompt although
To give me the help I need
I will not say you kept me on my toes
But, yes, you helped me keep my times
Any event, joyful or otherwise
As soon as it occurred
I would look at you
You kept me telling indirectly
That things keep pace with time
And change
Your message was always
That time is the best healer
And is the best in sorting issues
As you know time puts things
At their right place
For all these I have done nothing to you
But to feed you
With a small disc
This feed is good enough for you
To keep yourself performing
For months
You might have fallen sick
Thrice in these twenty years
Never once I spent
More than the consultation fee, which I pay
To my medical practitioner
I see of late
You are running slow
Because of this long twenty years’ running
May be, soon I will stop
Consulting you
And I am planning to put you to rest
My dear, twenty years old Titan watch

Days Of Our Lives
How many times have you walked through my door
How many times have you heard my song before
How many lines until the end of time
These are the days of our lives
How many times did you hear mother say
You would do fine if you didn't sleep all day
Oh mother dear, I'll get a job next year
These are the days of our lives
How many times did you walk down the street
Avoiding cracks that were thrown at your feet
These rainy days were sent to make us pay
But these are the days of our lives
How many roads must a woman walk down
How many walls will surround the town
All that I am could get us out of here
These are the days of our lives
Did you believe in the stories at night
Weren't you afraid when they turned out the light
Oh, such a gas, I'm sorry it won't last
These are the days of our lives
These are the days that some of us regret
These are the days we learn to forget
These are the days that turn us out this way
These are the days of our lives
Of our lives

1000 Years
If only we talked it out a little more
You might never have gone away
If only I tried
Instead of making for the door
Youd be loving me still today
And if Id only been a little wiser
You knew I knew the lies you told
But you thought I didnt care
And if Id only shown my love
In so many different ways
If only youd stayed
And in 1000 years
Ill still be thinking of you
Though in 1000 years
My love will have gone
But in a 1000 years
Well probably be together
But right now youre gone
If only I had you back again right now
Wouldnt ask for a thing, I know
Except to say Im sorry, and how
And the wisdom to let it show
And if Id only looked a little deeper
Each time I saw you weeping
And how I wished I held you close
Cause if I only shown my love
In so many different ways
Baby youd want to stay
And in 1000 years
Ill still be thinking of you
Though in 1000 years
My love will have gone
But in a 1000 years
Well probably be together
But right now youre gone
And in 1000 years
(Ill still be thinking of you)
1000 years
(my love will be long gone)
1000 years
(well probably be together forever)
1000 years
(Ill still be thinking of you)
1000 years

Rhodes' slave! Selling shoes and gingham,
Flour and bacon, overalls, clothing, all day long
For fourteen hours a day for three hundred and thirteen days
For more than twenty years.
Saying "Yes'm" and "Yes, sir", and "Thank you"
A thousand times a day, and all for fifty dollars a month.
Living in this stinking room in the rattle-trap "Commercial."
And compelled to go to Sunday School, and to listen
To the Rev. Abner Peet one hundred and four times a year
For more than an hour at a time,
Because Thomas Rhodes ran the church
As well as the store and the bank.
So while I was tying my neck-tie that morning
I suddenly saw myself in the glass:
My hair all gray, my face like a sodden pie.
So I cursed and cursed: You damned old thing
You cowardly dog! You rotten pauper!
You Rhodes' slave! Till Roger Baughman
Thought I was having a fight with some one,
And looked through the transom just in time
To see me fall on the floor in a heap
From a broken vein in my head.

Don't Ever Call Here Again
Why did I call?
You have been on my mind.
You are there most of the time,
With thoughts of wishes
I hope you are fine.
Why is it you?
Doesn't my call to you provide a clue?
Perhaps one day,
Out of the 'blue'...
You will call me too!
Instead of seeming to be annoyed.
And giving me attitude!
'Yeah...
But you've called me five times in ten minutes.
You have the wrong number!
How long has it been since you have spoken to your mother? '
Mom I know this is you!
I apologize for not calling in twenty years.
I have fallen on hard times...
And I need your assistance.
'That's unfortunate, young man.
The only son I had told me to mind my business.
He moved out over twenty five years ago!
And I know that could not be you...
Because the last time I called 'him'
He told me where to go!
I went!
And my life has been wonderful ever since!
I would give you his number...
But I have forgotten his name!
I have forgotten I have had any children at all.
And I bet 'if' you were in my shoes,
You would do the same.
When you find your mama...
Give her a hug for me, baby!
And as for you...
Don't ever call here again.'

Graceland
Tomb of a millionaire,
A multi-millionaire, ladies and gentlemen,
Place of the dead where they spend every year
The usury of twenty-five thousand dollars
For upkeep and flowers
To keep fresh the memory of the dead.
The merchant prince gone to dust
Commanded in his written will
Over the signed name of his last testament
Twenty-five thousand dollars be set aside
For roses, lilacs, hydrangeas, tulips,
For perfume and color, sweetness of remembrance
Around his last long home.
(A hundred cash girls want nickels to go to the movies to-night.
In the back stalls of a hundred saloons, women are at tables
Drinking with men or waiting for men jingling loose silver dollars in their pockets.
In a hundred furnished rooms is a girl who sells silk or dress goods or leather stuff for six dollars a week wages
And when she pulls on her stockings in the morning she is reckless about God and the newspapers and the police, the talk of her home town or the name people call her.)

In Three Days
As we see all the troubled times upon Israel, God's chosen nation,
To understand these times you need to turn to His Holy Revelation.
Hosea said of The Lord, after two days the land He would revive,
And after many dormant and desolate years, the land did come alive.
Hosea went on to say, on the third day the land would be restored,
This will be fulfilled when on David's Throne they see The Lord.
We are not talking days of past, but of years is what you might say,
But with the Lord a day is thousand years, and the years are a day.
For The Lord God is not constrained to earthly time like you and me,
For God is a timeless being, from the beginning through all eternity.
Time throughout The Bible has been used by God in different ways,
For a week in some prophetic passages is years, not simply days.
Seventy weeks in Daniel are decreed on his people and his Holy City,
To do away with sin and bring everlasting righteousness and safety.
The final week, which is the last seven years of Daniel's revelation,
Jeremiah calls The Time of Jacob's Trouble, or The Great Tribulation.
But, Zechariah tells of when God's Grace comes to this tiny nation,
And they will see the one they pierced, and will accept His Salvation.
It's true what Peter spoke about the prophets and what they decreed,
Their words are made more certain today for you and I to heed.

Shadows of the Dark
Feelings just feel so lost and I have no idea how to figure my way out?
Tried my level best although finding my way out is not such an easy option
Life is never so easy to figure out
How can I tell you that what are my ways, so things can be figured out?
Do not know how to figure out the right path?
Let me complete my cigarette first
Then I will think of which path to follow?
Right options are difficult to search
I cannot tell which is the exact path
Still, I am trying to figure out my way
Trying to navigate the directions to follow
Thinking of ways to come to terms to life.
My ways are still somewhere in between nowhere
Do not know the exact locations of my whereabouts?
Just me alone here, feels like being, nobody among the shadows of the dark.

Shes got a ballpark figure
Hes got a ballpoint pen
They travel around for weeks at a time
Writin down descriptions of the places they been
She plays guitar but nothin fancy
With no intention of becomin a star
Only thing thats botherin him these days
Is where hes gonna find a good ten-cent cigar
Cliches
Good ways
To say what you mean
Mean what you say
She never did make her debut
He never made it to class
Shes eighty-sixed from the chart room
Hes twenty nine and pushin thirty real fast
Theyre funny when they get to rockin
Goin out for a night on the town
Takin polaroid pictures that are never in focus
Just to look at when they finally slow down
Full moon
So soon
Wishin every month of the year could be june
Hes always tuned into star trek
Shes always tuned into him
Hidin his cookies when he gets the munchies
Tryin hard just to keep the boy slim
Tonight theyre gonna go star gazin
An try to figure out which one theyre near
But try as they might I dont think theyll reach the height
You know you cant get there from here
Full moon
So soon
Wishin every month of the year could be june

Momentary Contact With This Slight Inconvenience
With trillions of dollars in debt.
There are still some people,
Who are hopeful...
The price of gas will lower below a dollar.
A loaf of bread,
Will be twenty five cents again.
A push cart will be full of groceries...
For less than twenty dollars.
And what is being experienced now,
Is not a crisis!
It's a temporary slugfest...
With someone bashing them over the head,
With a ton of bricks.
However...
This 'momentary' contact with this slight 'inconvenience'
Is being addressed and will be taken care of...
As soon as it becomes recognized as a severe condition!
And folks are hopeful these sentiments expressed,
Are being made in the utmost of honesty!
Their lifestyles will return them to Utopia!
'Oh,
I sure hope so.
We must not accept negative thinking!
You know how that can play tricks on the mind?
Better times are coming back.
The gasoline is 'almost' below four dollars now! '

Twenty-four Seven
(j.b. rudd/vip vipperman)
Ive got this craving around the clock
And its got a hold on me
Ive had it bad since the moment we met
I cant get no relief
Youre the only train of thought on my one track mind
Going ninety miles an hour baby all the time
Twenty-four, seven
Youre the only thing that matters to me
Twenty-four hours girl, every day
Seven long days a week
Im in heaven, heaven
Twenty-four, seven
Every night when I go to sleep
In my dreams there you are
Youre the first thing I think about
And thats how the morning starts
It seems like everything I say and do
Is all about me being in love with you
Twenty-four, seven
Youre the only thing that matters to me
Twenty-four hours girl, every day
Seven long days a week
Im in heaven, heaven
Twenty-four, seven
Youre the only train of thought on my one track mind
Going ninety miles an hour baby all the time
Twenty-four, seven
Youre the only thing that matters to me
Twenty-four hours girl, every day
Seven long days a week
Im in heaven, heaven
Twenty-four, seven
Im in heaven
Twenty-four, seven
Twenty-four hours girl, every day
Seven long days a week
Im in heaven, heaven
Twenty-four seven
Twenty-four seven girl

Since I’ve Been In Jail
Since I've been in jail
the world has turned around the sun ten times
And if you ask the earth, it will say:
'It's not worth mentioning,
a microscopic time.'
And if you ask me, I will say:
'It's ten years of my life.'
I had a pencil
the year I came to jail.
It wore out in a week from writing.
And if you ask the pencil, it will say:
'A whole life.'
And if you ask me, I will say:
'It's nothing, a mere week.'
Osman who was jailed for murder
completed a seven-year stretch and left
since I've been in jail.
He wandered around outside for a while,
and then got jailed again for smuggling.
He served a six-month term and left again,
and yesterday a letter came saying he's married
and a child will be born in the spring.
Now they're ten years old
the children who fell from their mothers' womb
that year I came to jail,
And the colts of that year who had long thin shaky legs
have long since become docile broad-rumped mares.
But the olive shoots are still shoots
and they're still children.
New squares have opened up in my distant city
since I've been in jail.
And our family
is living in a house I've never seen
on a street I don't know.
The bread was pure white, like cotton,
the year I came to jail.
Later it was rationed out,
And we here on the inside beat one another
for a piece of black crust the size of a fist.
Now it's free again,
But brown and tasteless.
The year I came to jail
The Second One had just begun.
The ovens in Dachau Camp were not yet lit,
The atom bomb was not yet hurled upon Hiroshima.
Time flowed like the blood of a child with his throat cut.
Later that chapter was officially closed,
Now American dollars are talking about a Third.
But in spite of everything, the days have brightened
since I've been in jail,
And about half of them
'put their heavy hands on the pavement
and on the edge of darkness
straightened up.'
Since I've been in jail
the world has turned around the sun ten times.
And again I repeat with the same passion
what I wrote for them
the year I came to jail:
'They
whose number is as great
as ants on the earth
fish in the water
birds in the sky
are fearful and brave
ignorant and learned
and they are children,
And they
who destroy and create
it is only their adventure in these songs.'
And for the rest,
for example, my lying here for ten years,
it's nothing...

Twenty Years Ago
It's been a long time since I walked
Through this old town
But oh how the memories start to flow
And there's the old movie house
They finally closed it down
You could find me there every Friday night
Twenty years ago.
I worked the counter at the drugstore down the street
But nobody's left there I would know
On Saturday mornings that's where
All my friends would meet
You'd be surprised to know what a dime would buy
Twenty years ago.
All my memories from those days come gather round me
What I'd give if they could take me back in time
It almost seems like yesterday
Where do the good times go?
Life was so much easier twenty years ago.
I guess I should stop by Mr. Johnson's hardware store
His only son was my friend Joe
But he joined the army back in 1964
How could we know he would never come back
Twenty years ago...

A Boy Needs A Bike
Pop works in the shop til eight
Moms on the phone and shes kind of irate
Sallys doing sommersaults on the lawn
Pop slams open the front screen door
Just to scare mom
She says, "what the hell did you do that for? "
He washes his dirty hands in the sink
And things around the table are kind of rough
Mom says its pa
Pa says, "the times are just tough"
And me and sally dont say much of nothing at all
The garage door light brightens up the night
Pa always works on cars when he gets in a fight
As though he could figure out that woman by working on that
Old car
He said a car can cure any problem at all
Cause of looking at all them parts makes a fight look so small
But I wish hed just put me and sally in the backseat and
Drive us away
Thats when he sits me down
He says hes gonna teach me about life
He said, "a man needs a car and a boy needs a bike"
I got my first taste of freedom beneath the light of the moon
But if it were me
Id have the guts to put to test those bolts and nuts
And Id ride away so fast, so far
Ride away... so fast, so far
Put away our tools
We go back inside
Mom feels left out and now shes starting to cry
I wonder if all girls are crazy this way
I wish pops would just get a spine
I said I know its kind of small but you can borrow mine
He just smiled and said, "your mom means well son"
Most times are good its just some that are lean
But its love that makes up for those times in beteween
He got a tear in his eye as he took mammas hand
Said one day Id understand
But if it were me
Id have the guts to put to test those bolts and nuts
And Id ride away so far, so fast
Ride away so fast so far
Ride away

A Man For The Ladies
He was the young dad of the sixties he is the old man of today
Married and divorced for the third time that's life as some are known to say
He is seven times a great grandfather one might say his flock multiply
And he is not yet finished with women he says he will give marriage at least one more try,
He is now with one twenty years younger a divorcees of forty one
At the wooing of far younger women he surely is second to none
Some women like their men much older for the father figure they do fall
When it comes to understanding people I know that I know little at all
He was sixty one on his last birthday with brown hair dye he covers his gray
And when it comes to dress and appearance attention to detail he pay
one might say a man for the ladies at wooing them he has known success
His chat up lines seem to be flawless all of the right buttons he seems to press
Yes surely a man for the ladies younger women fall for him in a big way
Yet in love he likes a new challenge and with one he does not seem to stay.

How Many Seconds In A Minute?
How many seconds in a minute?
Sixty, and no more in it.
How many minutes in an hour?
Sixty for sun and shower.
How many hours in a day?
Twenty-four for work and play.
How many days in a week?
Seven both to hear and speak.
How many weeks in a month?
Four, as the swift moon runneth.
How many months in a year?
Twelve the almanack makes clear.
How many years in an age?
One hundred says the sage.
How many ages in time?
No one knows the rhyme.

Im The Girl
Ive got a memory
A thousand years old
And I know secrets
Ive never been told
And Ive got jewels
I havent found
And theyll return me
To the ground
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
And Im a siren
Ill wreck you on my shores
And Im godiva
Ill call you back for more
And Im medusa
And Im your favourite doll
And Im a georgia okeefe
Hanging on your wall
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter before
And I remember being born just sound and light
And sound and light and light
And I remember the first time, skin on skin in the arms
In the arms of the night
Well how many times have we looked up into the starry skies
And how many times have we felt the passion rise
Every ruby-lipped girl baby, old lady, squaw junkie, girl after girl after girl
Every muse, whore, good witch, princess, back arching, year after year after year
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im the girl, Im the girl, Im the girl
You know me
Im joan of arc
Im the girl next door
Im the mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
The mother and the daughter
Of the mother and the daughter
Before.

My Rhymes Are My Own
Some of those who happen to be strangers to me
Say what I write is stuff as opposed to poetry
But that's their opinion and that suits me fine
And what is their business could never be mine.
As for me other writers professional or amateur I never criticize
For from my years of living I have come to realize
That the Wordsmith Trade all of it's writers does need
Though at making a living from writing few known to succeed.
In a success driven Human World many for success do compete
And many ambitious people live on every street
Yet not everyone does live at a fashionable address
And not everyone known to be a great success.
I thank those who of me have kind things to say
In life you win some and lose some as life is that way
And those who criticize me are those I've never known
But I can vouch for one thing my rhymes are my own.

Super MoM
Times are getting hard and not getting better
But one thing that stands and has not broken down is my mom
We've been through the storm an into the slet
But one thing about my mom is she stayed on her two feet
My mom is very smart, intelligent, mature super women, and funny at times
But NO matter what she has always made her way with her 3 girls
A strong black women with the potential to do anything, she is a super women..
I know our mother daughter relationship was not close but I'm getting older and I want our Relationship to get better.
But there's only one thing I want, an that's to get older with you.
You have always been My Mother an Farther since George had gone
But one thing about you you is that you stand strong.
I love you mom

The Rest Might
The rest might...
Criticize.
The rest might,
Analyze the times.
But these are
Only the times to live.
And these are
Only the times to give...
'What' and 'how' we can.
The rest might...
Try to hide.
The rest might,
Cry with alibis.
But sympathies
Really do not pay.
Not even wishing
That these times go away.
Nothing,
Today will stay!
The rest might...
Close their eyes.
The rest might,
Fight themselves inside.
But even having nothing more to say...
Wont make a difference,
If all things decay...
Right before our eyes!
The rest might...
Criticize.
The rest might,
Analyze the times.
But these are
Only the times to live.
And these are
Only the times to give...
'What' and 'how' we can.
So live your life enhanced!
