Jogger

Being chased by a ghost, the roots of his teeth
break with impact, joints tied together with string,
corpus filled with compressed breath.

He gasps stones, grit and smoke, an air maschine,
a wet, strained mask, the bottom of his lungs filled with silver.
His heart shakes like a shocked bird.

It is as if all things in the park have been stilled,
left and right, one and two, all under the grey
now out in bad standing.

Please Dont Drag That String Around

(words & music by blackwell - scott)
You like to keep me dangling on a string
cause you know without you my life dont mean a thing
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
Oh, tell me, what would I do then
Keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end
Yes, Im your puppet, my heart is in your hand
One twist of the wrist and I jump to your command
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
What would I do then
Baby, keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end
I feel inside me, as sure as anything
One day Ill mean more to you than a puppet on a string
So I beg you
Please dont drag that string around, oh no
Well, what if it should break
Oh, tell me, what would I do then
Keep that string up off the ground
Oh, yeah, remember my heart is tied to the other end

The Air is a Root

The air is a root.
The stones are filled with tenderness. bravo.
bravo. the stones are filled with air.
the stones are watery branches.
on the stones replacing the mouth
grows the skeleton of a leaf. bravo.
A stone voice face to face and foot to foot
with a stone glance.
the stones are tormented like flesh
the stones are clouds for their second
nature dances to them on their third nose.
bravo. bravo.
when the stones scratch themselves, nails grow
on the roots. bravo. bravo.
the stones woke to eat the exact
hour

A New Sun Filled Day

Such a fine morning
Bird's are singing their song
The sun is golden and warm
I hum my tune walking along
Not a grey cloud in the sky
Feeling the crisp cool air
I reflect back to early days
When You were with me there
A New Sun Filled Day
A smile in exchange of a tear
The sun is beaming brand new
All those sweet memories
I still feel your with me too
The small lake and it's stones
How rewarding this is I say
These days will remind me so
When those clouds turn grey
A New Sun Filled Day

False Teeth - A Children's Poem

Our teacher had false teeth;
She kept them in a box
Inside the classroom cupboard
Which she forgot to lock,
So we broke in at break-time
And took them out to play.
They fell into a puddle
And turned a muddy grey.

We gave them back to teacher;
She had to grit her teeth
Or, rather, to de-grit them
For grit was underneath
Under the muddy covering
Mixed with her chewing gum.
This made her gums quite tender;
She didn’t find it fun.

But later we regretted
The mischief that we’d made;
When lessons stopped for playtime,
Our teacher soon explained
That punishment must fit the crime
So, for our evil sin,
Just like her now-cleaned gnashers,
She had to keep us in.

Smokeless

It's so uninspiring.
I'm sitting here and no lights are firing.
My head is mired with faulty wiring.

I need a spark to break the dark.
A cigarette that cures the heart.
Of mind and body it makes me smart.
At least it seems to fill the part.

I sit here now with no smokes left.
My head is empty and bereft.
Of great ideas.
There's been a theft.

So help me now to get them back.
Loan me six bucks to get a pack.
Then I'll find the things I lack.
With smoke filled lungs it brings it all back.
The brilliant ideas on which I snack.

Contemplation

When pen touches paper
Feelings being to surface
Surge forth, though thought to be
Long forgotten and burried
I do my best to stay in constant motion.
The second I stop to take a breath
Inhale till I feel my lungs will explode
I focus
And,
What do I see before me?
The fortress that I've built and isolated myself in
The moat that can not be crossed
The facade is grand, strong and stout.
No one realizes that it's just an illusion.
I hate loosing my composure.
I'm always in control, not a hair out of place
So it would seem..
I've suffered some injustice
Years and years ago
Promised myself never to repeat a mistake
Well,
I haven't made any
I haven't moved from where I
Decided to sit that day.
I thought I would watch the world go by for a while.
See what passes before my eyes and not be a participant.
I needed to take a breath..
So I inhaled deeply, filled my lungs, and sat..
And
Now
It seems if my feet did touch the floor
If I stood to walk,
I'd fall.
Knowing the pain will shoot up my legs
Send needles of realization through and through me
I'd have to grit my teeth and propel myself forward..
It's going to hurt..
I know I need to try.
But,
I don't know if I can remember
What if the pain is unbearable
And,
I'm crippled for life.
But, like this,
What is my life
Sitting here
Watching the world go by?

Rucksack Full Of Stones

A Babe…
Born perfect, innocent, ready
Cast into a corrupt world

Parents eagerly present
A family heirloom
A patchwork rucksack
Part-filled with stones
To a wide-eyed child

Begins the journey…

Child given stones of many shapes, sizes
Stones of pity, sorrow, fear, trauma
Stones filled with words like “No”
Stones filled with ugly phrases
Stones filled with abuse, punishment, pain

Rucksack seams burgeon

A growing Soul shouts

“Enough”

Emptying begins…

Through lessons, experiences, prayer
One by one
Removed the stones
Rucksack lightens
By the Grace of God,
Finally emptied

Another Babe born
Rucksack beckons

“Not this time”

Rucksack flung
Into Wisdom’s Fire

Consumed

Ends a vicious cycle…

The Fairy Clock

Silver clock! O silver clock! tell to me the time o' day!
Is there yet a little hour left for us to work and play?
Tell me when the sun will set--tiny globe of silver-grey.

It has been so glad a world since the coming of the morn,
Oft I wondered when I met any souls who seemed forlorn--
And I scarce gave heed to those who were old or travel worn.

Mayhap I have loved too well the merry fleeting things;
Run too lightly with the wind--chased too many shining wings;
Thought too seldom of the night, and the silence that it brings.

Well I fear me I have been but an idler in the sun--
All unfinished are the tasks long and long ago begun--
In the dark perchance they weep, who have left their work undone.

And I know each black-frocked friar preacheth sermons that, alas!
Fain would halt the dancing feet of those careless ones who pass
Down a sweet and primrose path, through the ribbons of the grass.

Silver-clock! O Silver-clock! It was only yesterday
Dandelions flecked the field, starry bright, and gold and gay;
You are but the ghost of one--little globe of silver-grey!

Tell me--tell me of the hour--for there is so much to do!
Is it early? Is it late? Fairy clock! 0 tell me true,
As I blow you down the wind, out upon a road of blue.

Bottom

Lift your head up from the clouds
I know that you're shaking
Breaking down
How could you leave me
Garbage can
Never want to be your understand
Help me
Help me
Help me
Help me
Lord can you help me get this weight off my shoulders
Can you help me I think I'm getting older
The pain that you left me deep within
How can I live living in sin
And you know that I've tried
And you know
Lord knows I've tried every day of my life
Sitting at the bottom, sitting at the bottom with you
Sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom, sitting at the bottom
How many times I gotta say
That you're never ever gonna get your way
Down in the gutter as I decay
Where you gonna leave me
Let me be
Help me
Help me
Help me
Help me understand
And you know that I've tried
Don't you know
Lord knows I've tried every day of my life
Sitting at the bottom, I'm sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom with you
Now I'm sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom, sitting at the bottom with you
[x2]
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But words will never hurt me
[x2]
Sticks and stones breaking my bones
No your words aren't never gonna hurt me
And you know that I've tried
And you know
Lord knows I've tried every day of my life
Sitting at the bottom, sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom with you
Now i'm sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom with you
I'm just sitting at the bottom with you

Hole Hearted

Lifes ambition occupies my time
Priorities confuse the mind
Happiness one step behind
This inner peace Ive yet to find
Rivers flow into the sea
Yet even the sea is not so full of me
If Im not blind why cant I see
That a circle cant fit
Where a square should be
Theres a hole in my heart
That can only be filled by you
And this hole in my heart
Cant be filled with the things I do
Hole hearted
Hole hearted
This heart of stone is where I hide
These feet of clay kept warm inside
Day by day less satisfied
Not fade away before I die
Rivers flow into the sea
Yet even the sea is not so full of me
If Im not blind why cant I see
That a circle cant fit
Where a square should be
Theres a hole in my heart
That can only be filled by you
And this hole in my heart
Cant be filled with the things I do
Theres a hole in my heart
That can only be filled by you
And this hole in my heart
Cant be filled with the things I do
Hole hearted
Hole hearted
Hole hearted
Hole hearted

My House

(Paul Overstreet/Al Gore)
My house is no mansion
But it still holds my treasures
Things that will never be sold
Theres a few things in this world
That just can't be measured
By money, by silver and gold
My house is filled with the things that I love
From her smile in the mornin'
To her soft goodnight hugs
Her whisper, her laughter
Everything that she does
My house is filled with the things that I love
This old bed that we sleep on
Don't have satin covers
But it holds some great memories
No decorations can make better lovers
In her arms I feel like a king
My house is filled with the things that I love
From her smile in the mornin'
To her soft goodnight hugs
Her whisper, her laughter
Everything that she does
My house is filled with the things that l love
Yes, my house is filled with the things that I love

Smoke Two Joints

(she was living in a single room with three other individuals.
One of them was a male and the other two, well, the other two were females.
God only know what they were up to in there.
And furthermore susan, I wouldnt be the least bit surprised to learn that all four of them
Habitually smoke marijuana cigarettes... reefers)
I smoke two joints in the morning.
I smoke two joints at night.
I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints,
And then I smoke two more
Smoked cigarettes til the day she died
Toke a big spliff of some good sensimillia
Smoked cigarettes til the day she died
Toke a big spliff of some good sensamill...
Easy-e were ya ever caught slippin? hell no!
Daddy he once told me son you be hard workin man
And momma she once told me son you do the best you can
But, then one day I met a man who came to me and said
Hard work good, and hard work fine but first take care of head
(guitar solo)
Whoa, rock me tonight,
Whoa-oh, jah sake,
Whoa-ohh

At Dawn

In the night I dreamed of you;
All the place was filled
With your presence; in my heart
The strife was stilled.

All night I have dreamed of you;
Now the morn is grey.--
How shall I arise and face
The empty day?

But my heart is filled wit poverty it speaks words of volmue but know one hears it

Some say it's just a symptom but this heart is broken and steps on left on the ground unwanted......

When light and air were born

When light and air were first born
Man came,
And woman followed,
So filled
With awe & wonder,
What is this light that makes them see?
What is this air that makes them breathe and live?
Definitions were made,
In awe and wonder, What it feels when air gets
Into their lungs what it feels when they Walk in the light and not stumble on stones?

The years accumulated like layers and layers Of earth and fire and rocks and earth and sea
Came then some cataclysmic changes While more and more
Men and women and lots of children came
Inhabiting this earth
And awe and wonder
Were lost, More changes came that kill and annihilate and
Men and women and children were so preoccupied with saving themselves, Forgetting how air first filled their lungs Forgetting how light first guided them not to stumble to stones,
Now air and light
Have become so ordinary, & no one really remembers about how it was at first No one really cares to recall what first was,
Men and women and children are so busy
Preoccupied with darkness,
these choking blankets darkness
These poisonous packets of air,
so debilitating, so deadly &
some of the children Simply dropped dead on the streets, and fear so gripped the men and women
gripes and grimes geometrically hurried in their hearts,
Night’s darkness
The darkness of insensitivity
buried them and indeed things change and
everything goes from bad to worst

What was it at first, is now not felt anymore, what was first
was taken for granted and finally forgotten,

Where is the awe? Where is the wonder?

Men and women and children, where are you all going?

The bones

nothing can be more dry than a piece of human bone
they steal the vitality from you even as you look

i stare at a broken 200 year old coffin filled with
all facets of skeletons; a jamble mass of broken,
brittle, sorry state of dehydration;

joints, ankles, skulls, and thigh bones
that had taken on the years to nowhere,

a stamp of desolate whiteness that
dissipates the spirit and gnaws at the heart
with its teeth of anguish

dont get me wrong, they are just bones and nothing else,
and they arouse no fear, no ghost walks with them;

death is like the bones, dry and empty, carrying
a whiteness so dissipating i guess that's God
telling us it holds no more life, merely broken
jigsaw pieces where no more dream can be put together

Seansons When

A shadow loomed on my sill so blue
Through my window my bird flew
Filling my heart with such sadness
Gone sweet bird of happiness

Franticly seeking calling it back
Searching in every corner and ever crack
Sought refuge in other places
Dormant lies now my heart in stasis

My bird no longer sings me love songs
On foreign shore it now belongs
So desperately I tried
Long through the night I cried

My bird now is set free
Its voice no longer calls me
My head no longer filled with rage
It was I the one that kept it in a cage

True love was all that I had sought
I made mistakes for that’s how I was taught
Bleeding heart knows no cure
The love of my life loves me no more

My blue bird one day will nest a new
For that there is nothing I can do
With flock ling’s now domesticated
Off lings forever we are related

Days gone now by and by
Recouping I have tried
Lost all but not my footing
On my feet for I am still standing

Bittersweet sorrows lessons to learn
Burdens filled now it’s my turn
Seasons when yellow leafs fell of my tree
Gone forever now so shall it be

Breathe

Breathe your life...
Ive got to come down
Ive been awake for far too long
My eyes look torn, they were so strong
I wore the crown, I wrote the song
Now its fading
My heart was open
Like a window to a summer breeze
I breaaaathed your love,
I filled my lungs and veins
And I breaaathed your love
Until I felt the pain
And like rain it slipped away
I tried to find out
What love was realy all about
Behind the curtain waits the sky
Its rare I feel enough to cry
Im drying up inside
My life was open
Like a window to the summer breeze
I breathed your love,
I filled my lungs and veins
And I breathed your love
Until I met the pain and like rain
It slipped away, just like a little rain.
I breathed your love
And nothing stayed the same.
Yes, I breathed your love
And filled my heart in vain cos like rain
It slipped away, just like rain it swept away.
