Upon a Bed of Gravel
Exposed and open.
I can not expect to be rescued soon.
I wont pretend my pain will end
Many scars and shattered wounds held.
Sunlit nights and darkened days...
Find my hands bloodied
Attempting to protect buckeling knees
Descending.
As I come to rest,
Upon a bed of gravel!
Too wasted to pretend logic!

Logic suffers
Desire blurs the logic.
Passion wounds the logic.
Fear maims the logic.
Rage kills the logic.
They spring from instincts
To protect the self
And hence ignore the logic.
Logic is meant for the third person.

Stupid Girl
You pretend you're high
Pretend you're bored
Pretend you're anything
Just to be adored
And what you need
Is what you get
Don't believe in fear
Don't believe in faith
Don't believe in anything
That you can't break
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
All you had you wasted
All you had you wasted
What drives you on
Can drive you mad
A million lies to sell yourself
Is all you ever had
Don't believe in love
Don't believe in hate
Don't believe in anything
That you can't waste
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can't believe you fake it
Can't believe you fake it
Don't believe in fear
Don't believe in pain
Don't believe in anyone
That you can't tame
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
All you had you wasted
All you had you wasted
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can't believe you fake it
Can't believe you fake it
You stupid girl
You stupid girl
Can't believe you fake it
Can't believe you fake it
You stupid girl

Too Many Nights
(nick martinelli/a.brown/b.wayy)
Too many nights
Too many tears
Too many years
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
I thought that I could make it on my own
And the thought of starting over again
Scared me into staying here with you
Long after all the heartache began
Im through with waiting in an empty bed
One for dinner when it should be two
Im tired of holding back what should be said
Im gonna let it go and stand up to you
Hey, too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
My pride was swallowed one too many times
Ive kept on turning my back on the truth
Now Im as serious as a heart attack
coz Ive decided baby, were through
Im growing stronger from experience
The woman in mes taking a stand
You taught me good, I learned my lesson well
And Im never gonna let it happen again, no
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
Im gonna turn the page
Put heartache in the past
I gotta think about getting strong
And Ill put all those memories on the shelf
And make the space for someone else
(too many nights Ive waited around for you)
Too many nights
(too many nights)
Too many nights
Hey, too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
(Im through)
Im ready to dry my eyes again, this time I wont pretend
Too many nights Ive waited around for you
Ive waited around for you
As the nights turn into weeks, I couldnt even sleep
Too many tears Ive cried but now Im through
I cried, cried, cried
Too many nights
Too many tears
Too many years

What Truths Are?
in trying to find them
the paradox is
they keep on concealing themselves
in shapes you least expect it:
you turn into a clown
to let them be children and
with their smiles
you find how innocent
truths are
but as you grow older
you get numb and you become less interested
and they too get worried about this dryness
this aridity
this stoicism
they pinch you and you do not mind at all
you pretend you are not hurt
there is no visible grimace on your face
then day by day
they keep on opening themselves like wounds
begging for a cure
but you get no medicine at all
in this familiarity
this contempt for them
you have already said yes
to everything
they come they go and you do not waive your hands anymore
they arrive and shake your hands
you are no longer excited
they are not invited guests
your eyes do not speak about who they are
what are their names
their roots their origins
now, they want to befriend you
what for? you ask them
you have already caused me all the pains
you promised to set me free
look! i am faceless
look at me! is this what you are all about?
the truth is
we get tired we only want to rest we do not need them much
too much of them is poison
and no one wants
no one wishes to die as such

What For Them Will Be Their Just Reward
Beginning to grieve their own imperfections,
They seek 'immediate' relief...
From the sight of their flaws and blemishes,
They have begun to witness.
Yet for years by others seen,
Even though those same 'flaws' and 'blemishes',
Now declared too painful...
Have agonized others who have suffered...
With a tolerance,
Of sacrificing all of their lifes...
Enduring being afflicted by them.
With no one attempting to heal or mend,
The scars they have had to pretend were not felt.
Or for 'them' and those before them,
Carried.
But did dare not to say,
Existed!
What for them and those before them,
Will be their just reward?
Apologies?
Ointments?
Bandages to mask their wounds?

Sorry
You're my best friend
No you're not
You're my sister, stay in your place
I can't pretend that you're not
Threatening to me,l need my space
I'm not lying, I value survival
Over you
I'm on my own
No I'm not
I've my sister to fight for me
I can't pretend that you won't
Cause you love myself more than me
I'm not lying, so often you choose me
Over you
And I've tried to heal the wounds
Make it as if it never was
And I know I've done my best
But I can never heal the scars
I wanna say I'm sorry but I know I'll do it again
I'll do it again
I know what I did but I still don't know the reason
I wanna say I'm sorry but I know I'll do it again
I'll do it again
I'll do it to you
I don't wanna hurt you anymore
I pull you close
Feel your love
Then I push you away from me
Protect myself
I'm not safe when my boundaries are violated
And it's kill or die
So I choose me
Over you
ADD is my excuse
And with my excuse I shot you down
And I know I've got to change
But I can never work out how
How can I say I'm sorry when I know I'll do it again
Do it again
I know what I did but I still don't know the reason
I wanna say I'm sorry but I know I'll do it again
I'll do it again
I'll do it to you
I don't wanna hurt you anymore
Lash out in anger
Hit the wrong target
My little sister
No matter what I say
I love you so much I cannot leave
But when family get too close
I always find it hard to breathe
How can I say I'm sorry when I know I'll do it again
I'll do it again
I know what I did but I still don't know the reason
How can I say I'm sorry when I know I'll do it again
I'll do it again
I'll do it to you
I don't wanna hurt you anymore

I Cant Pretend
Charles tobias / paul rusincky (w. edward breuder? )
I cant pretend
Im sorry were apart
I cant pretend
I just cant fool my heart
Though I make mine
My friends all seem to realize
Their smiles, that look in my eye
I cant pretend
I simply cant be gayer
For in the end
My tears give me away
Without you dear
I live a lie
I cant defend
I love you
And I cant pretend

As Is Meant To Be Told
With a silenced mind,
Listen to them find...
Excuses to make for themselves.
And those who make excuses,
To abuse the truth.
Are liars.
With a quiet mind anyone can find,
Those who pretend.
There are ways to deal with people who pretend.
And there are many of them attempting to defend themselves,
With lies they tell on someone else.
Hoping the doing keeps them popular amongst those unknowing,
Them to be chronic liars prepared to always put on a show...
To protect their insecurities and victimizing those that don't know.
The affects of this are all around.
If one's eyes and ears are kept open.
And one's mouth is kept shut.
While listening to things being instantly made up.
Watch them mentally self destruct.
'Who? '
Those who lie and want you to believe them true.
While they continue to make things up,
As often as they do.
And those they've deceived will eventually awaken,
To disbelieve the doers of these misdeeds.
When the pieces are put together to reveal those faking.
There are ways to deal with people who pretend.
Hoping the doing keeps them popular amongst those unknowing,
Them to be chronic liars.
With a watching them mentally self destruct,
And those they've deceived will eventually awaken,
To disbelieve the doers of these misdeeds...
While listening to them talk about themselves too much,
With a passing of judgement and telling of lies on others.
'But...
How do we know them to do these things? '
Those who make excuses,
To abuse the truth...
Are liars.
And...
With a quiet mind anyone can find,
Those who pretend with a defending of themselves against...
Someone who is not around,
More familiar with the telling of truth as is meant to be told.
'Who do you think are those least likely to tell the truth? '
It is in the observation.
Who has difficulty accepting who they are?
Who uses their ethnicity as a fashion statement,
And not a possessed identity?
And who is quick to assess others like themselves,
With comments made that have no dignity?
And those who lie are always the ones self righteous,
Quick to use God as if God is not aware of false tongues.

Her
Baby, Ive been watching from a distance
And everything it rings familiarly, mmmm
But I cant imagine what you must be thinkin
Cuz she could never be what I can be
Oh, loneliness has really got you twisted
And theres so much your eyes dont even see, yeah
And then I laid my eyes upon your woman
And to my surprise I saw me lookin at me
But how could you be with her?
Her
You dont really love her, no
She
Cuz shes not me and i
I
I wont stand by and watch you pretend
So baby how could you?
Her
You dont really love her, no
She
Cuz shes not me and i
I
I cant stand by and watch you pretend
We parted so that we could make it better
Cuz boy, you said we needed time and space, mmm
We vowed that it was only temporary
But I never thought that I would be replaced
Now youre living all our dreams with another
And youre giving everything you promised me
Youre pretending were together when were nothing
But shes not me, she cant be, no
How could you be with her, oh baby
Her
You dont really love her, no, no
She
Cuz shes not me and i
I
I cant stand by and watch you pretend
So how could you play me?
Her
Cuz dont really love her, no
She
Cuz shes not me and i
I
I cant stand by and watch you pretend
I never thought that you would be hurting this way
And I never thought Id be without you, without you
You didnt have to run away to find me again
Cuz Ive always been here I am the real thing
So dont you pretend, oh
Her
You dont really love her
She
Cuz shes not me and i
I
I cant stand by and watch you pretend
Oh
Her
You dont really love her, no
She
Cuz you really love and and i
I
I cant stand by and let you pretend
We could start again
Her
Ya gotta let her go baby
She
And bring your love to me
I
I want your love, I need your love

Take Your Memory With You
I can read the writing on the wall
You pretend that nothings changed at all
Ive got just one thing to ask you if its so
Just take your memory with you when you go
So I wont have to think about
The lonely nights Ill be without
Someone to hold me when the cold wind blows
Take your memory with you when you go
I walk the floor and wonder what went wrong
Ill have to find a way to carry on
Why dont you leave before the heartache starts to show
Take your memory with you when you go
So I wont have to think about
The lonely nights Ill be without
Someone to hold me when the cold wind blows
Take your memory with you
So I wont have to miss you
Take your memory with you when you go

It's A Fact
that those who pretend
to be asleep
are the hardest people to wake
and so i pretend too that i do not know that you are pretending.
in this way
we are even.
i pretend that i am wide awake
in the middle of my
resentful sleep.

The Scars That U Leave
I don’t know how much more
How much more I can take
Of this crap you keep doing
Every night I go to bed
With the scars of the day
Scars that you inflicted
And the pain searing through my body
A pain that was caused by your hands
Inflicted by your hatred
A pain remembered the next morning
Only to be added to that night
A never ending pain
As the wounds are never left to heal
But are added to
Over and over again
Know I add a new pain
A pain I inflict on myself
A cut that you didn’t make
But was caused by you all the same

Just Pretend
(words & music by flett - fletcher)
Just pretend, Im holding you
And whispering things soft and low
And think of me, how its gonna be,
Just pretend I didnt go
When I walked away, I heard you say
If you need me, you know what to do
I knew it then, Id be back again
Just pretend Im right there with you
And Ill come flying to you, oh yes
All the crying is true
Oh, I will hold you and love you again
But until then, well just pretend
Oh, its funny but I cant recall the things
We said or why youre crying
But now I know it was wrong to go
I belong here by your side

Walk Away
Dont say I love you, I wont say that I care
Ill pretend I never kissed you, or held you, or worshipped you
I swear
Ill live in denial for as long as I live
Cuz *what I need baby, this love just cant give
We have to walk away
We have to walk away
Ill try not to sing, youll try not to talk with those lips
Well forget all the sweet memories, and now well just go with what
Is
Cuz this love aint loving, and I dont know why
But anything that stands so still cant be alive
We have to walk away
We have to walk away
[refrain]
But there were times our love was, so sweet
And its *memory that makes me want to make it last
But you cant make love work, anymore than you can make it leave
And its then you gotta leave it yourself
[refrain2]
Cuz when love aint loving but still aint leaving
Its then you gotta leave it yourself
Now jealousy can ride your heart like a sick kind of pony
And envys just the same
And your loneliness can consume you no matter how much love you had
And when it all boils down, baby, theres no other way
And I *care much more than to make you stay
We have to walk away
We have to walk away
So at night, when darkness fills me,
Ill pretend you never spoke my name
When Im sitting home that lonely,
Ill pretend youre home and lonely, oh just the same
And Ill pretend this sorrow, this sorrow will pass
And Ill try to pretend that this loneliness wont last
And that Ill walk away
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Refrain
Repeat
Refrain2
Repeat
So dont say
So dont say I love you
I wont say that I care

There Is
this vacation's useless
these white pills aren't kind
i've given a lot of thought on this 13-hour drive
i missed the grinding concrete where we sat past 8 or 9
and slowly finished laughing in the glow of our headlights
i've given a lot of thought to the nights we use to have
the days have come and gone
our lives when but so fast
i faintly remember breathing on your bedroom floor
where i laid and told you but you sweared you loved me more
do you care if i don't know what to say
will you sleep tonight or will you think of me
will i shake this off pretend its all okay
that there someone out there who feels just like me
there is
those notes you wrote me
i've kept them all
i'll give a lot of thought of how to write you back this fall
with every single letter in every single word there
will be a hidden message about a boy that's
loves a girl
do you care if i don't know what to say
will you sleep tonight or will you think of me
will i shake this off
pretend its all okay that there's someone out there who feels just like me
there is
do you care if i don't know what to say?
will you sleep tonight or will you think of me
will i shake this off
pretend its all okay that there's someone out there who feels just like me
do you care if i don't know what to say?
will you sleep tonight or will you think of me

Scars
Those who suffer scars outside
Are afflicted since they can't hide.
But they likely confront reality
Since their appearance is there to see.
In turn most learn it's not what is seen,
Since actions determine what life will mean.
Whereas those harboring scars inside
Can't be treated when they've denied
That there's anything wrong…
Until the next crisis comes along.
Then it's the world that's marred…
Not them since they have worked hard.
Scars of denial, insecurity and hate
Are like open wounds that never abate.
These marks take their greatest toll
Surreptitiously hidden, destroying soul.
Sadder are innocent victims that suffer;
Unscarreds exposed to denial with no buffer.

After The Storm
Open hearts
Open eyes
Open scars that are left upon
Open minds
Sacred words
Sacrificed
Storytellers exaggerate
Shallow lies
(chorus)
After the hurt has gone away
Oh will we feel the pain
After the storm begins to turn
Oh will we ever learn
Open doors
Open books
Tragic stories repeated still
Overlooked
Chase the wind
Catch a breath
Watch a child when it falls
Helplessness
(chorus)
Its never too late to say a prayer
It might be all we got to share
Theres always a hope that someones there
Dont confirm unless its sure
Dont pretend to know a cure
Dont convince the world youre right
Dont deny youve never lied
(chorus)

Buss Stop
Theres a cry that is heard in the city
From vivian at pentecost lane
A shriekin and dancing till 4 a.m.
Another night of muscles and pain
I love you despite your convictions
That God never laughs at my jokes
Im a young man at odds with the bible
But I dont pretend faith never works
When were down on our knees
Prayin at the bus stop
Now jesus he came in a vision
And offered you redemption from sin
Im not sayin that I dont believe you
But are you sure that it really was him
Ive been told that it couldnve been blue cheese
Or the meal that we ate down the road
Im a young man at odds with the bible
But I dont pretend faith never works
When were down on our knees
Prayin at the bus stop
How yeah

Wishful Heart
Wishful Heart
Wishful Heart
How much pain can you endure?
Hurt you til there's nothing left.. Love Again?
Are you sure?
All the times you stay hopeful to it all
You know very well in the end you always fall
Wishful Heart
Wishful Heart
Are you a fool?
Love the one who will never love you
Broke into a million pieces
some stolen along the way
you care too much
Though they abuse
Still you stay; Pretend covers your bruises
Wishful Heart
Wishful Heart
Where do I begin?
Want to mend you
But you wont give in
afraid of what love just may do
you close your eyes
& pray to god
that this is true.
Wishful Heart
Wishful Heart
Oh I love you so
Not enough to heal your scars
but enough to sew your wounds
I promise, one day you'll have a new start.

I Dont Believe In Love
I awoke on impact
Under surveillance from the camera eye
Searching high and low
The criminal mind found at the scene of the crime
Handcuffed and blind, I didnt do it
She said she loved me
I guess I never knew
But do we ever, ever really know?
She said shed meet me on the other side
But I knew right then, Id never find her
I dont believe in love
I never have, I never will
I dont believe in love
Its never worth the pain that you feel
No more nightmares, Ive seen them all
From the day I was born, theyve haunted my every move
Every open hands there to push and shove
No time for love it doesnt matter
She made a difference
I guess she had a way
Of making every night seem bright as day
Now I walk in shadows, never see the light
She must have lied cause she never said goodbye
I dont believe in love
I never have, I never will
I dont believe in love
Ill just pretend she never was real
I dont believe in lovev I need to forget her face, I see it still
I dont believe in love
Its never worth the pain that you feel
No chance for contact
Theres no raison detre
My only hope is one day Ill forget
The pain of knowing what can never be
With or without love its all the same to me
I dont believe in love
I never have, I never will
I dont believe in love
Ill just pretend she never was real
I dont believe in love
I need to forget her face, I see it still
I dont believe in love
Its never worth the pain that you feel
