Undivided Attention
I 'use' to wonder as a child,
Why there were so many elderly people...
Packed inside the church,
My mother made sure...
She would take my sister and I,
Faithfully on Sunday and choir rehearsals...
As children.
When I turned 60,
I realized...
I could talk to myself,
And not get a batted eye of attention...
From anyone!
That piece of the puzzle,
No longer remains a mystery.
Now I know for a fact...
What those who are elderly know.
God is the only 'One'...
To have ever given undivided attention.
Most in their youth take for granted!

Pachyderm
O' my elderly world, am I getting too bold?
The ones who go first were the elderly ones
Leaving spawns of unfertile aftermaths
Leaving my elderly world high and dry
O' my elderly world, am I getting out of control?
Doing everything that crosses my mind
Like there is no tomorrow
Like there are no rules
O' my elderly world, am I worthy of being alive?
When all my tendency contributes are turmoils
When my currupted mind only grieves others'
Like I own this elderly world...
O' my elderly world, are the rulers doing well?
When all they can offer are blood, tears and lives taken
When the rich becomes richer
When the poor becomes poorer
Like they own this elderly world...
O' my elderly world, do I still have the time?
Am always envious of time
Am always running out of time
Hope I won't be here when your time runs out
O' my elderly world...

Simply Lonely
He's lonely
He always is
He just wants the attention
That he never
Receives
Instead he hides
His feelings
In a guise as black as night
He uses red lines
He uses sharp edges
To hide, silently crying inside
They call him a troublemaker
He just wants the attention
That is always denied to him
His mother just sits in her room
Locked up with her boyfriend
Never paying attention
His father is no where to be found
He left years ago
No one can get close enough to see
The class clown
Just wants to have someone's
Undivided attention
To know someone
Truly cares
He's lonely
He always is
He just wants the attention
That he never
Recives

How We Were Introduced
—for perfidious protectors
I was playing in the street
no one paid attention to me
as I made forms out of sand
mumbling Rimbaud under my breath
once an elderly gentleman overheard it
—little boy you are a poet
just now we are organizing
a grass-roots literary movement
he stroked my dirty head
gave me a large lollypop
and even bought clothes
in the protective coloring of youth
I didn’t have such a splendid suit
since first communion
short trousers and a wide
sailor’s collar
black patent leather shoes with a buckle
white knee-high socks
the elderly gentleman took me by the hand
and led the way to the ball
other boys were there
also in short trousers
carefully shaven
shuffling their feet
—well boys now it’s time to play
why are you standing in the corners
asked the elderly gentleman
—make a circle holding hands
but we didn’t want tag
or blindman’s buff
we had enough of the elderly gentleman
we were very hungry
so we were seated promptly
around a large table
given lemonade
and pieces of cake
now disguised as adults
with deep voices
the boys got up they praised us
or slapped us on our hands
we didn’t hear anything
didn’t feel anything
staring with great eyes
at the piece of cake
that kept melting
in our hot hands
and this sweet taste the first in our lives
disappeared inside our dark sleeves

A home with grandma
Not all the homes are lucky to have grandmother
Children love grandma even more than mother
They have less attachment with the father
Grandma is all the time there to bother
She is generous and vast sea of affection
Al children are taken of with full care and attention
Grandma is such personality at home that needs no mention
She is there for all practical purpose for any prevention
She may guide us as to how the things are to be passed of or gone
Nothing escapes from her mind as it is practically performed or done
She has no forgone conclusions but with practical remedy
She also offers us stories with so much truth in comedy
Grandmamma remains so much healthy and stout
She has seen the ages with experience and knows all about
She has passed off all the storms at ease
She has now the big task to get it released
It is always nice to find elderly woman in home
She is protective cover for all the times to come
She is there to entertain us with all the dignity
The home is fine place to find her with all the qualities
What else can we expect from lovable grandma?
She moves in home with all her stamina
Sometimes we feel shame to walk with her
She complains about nothing and makes us to bother
It is honor to address her as grandma
She is no less important than papa
It is our luck that we have somebody to look after
The life would have turned us into miser
She is source of towering strength and inspiration
She is sought after by all children and asks for narration
She may have all the stories to be told with great effect
It is her gorgeous part that instills the confidence and will power to act
All the children are good listener
She is preferred to and remains as great admirer
It is easy to make joke or laugh it out
Dignity and personal honor is all about
It is honor and simple craze
Elderly women are considered in good phrase
Concealment of age makes it difficult and not easy
Still grandma remain at help of affairs and makes it rosy
One should be cautious while dealing with elderly person
They are easily offended for no reason
Their honor and dignity must be preserved at all the costs
After all it is pride that has to be counted as sacred most

The Elderly These Days!
The younger birds have flown off far away!
Their parents aged are left alone today;
The nest looks empty, silent, everyday;
O Lord, show us your way- they pray!
Who cares who cares for elderly these days?
All children seem busy in their own ways;
Mere solitude is what the world repays;
Oh, what a blot on modern human race!
What love was shown by parents in years past!
They look now weary, dazed, with eyes downcast;
They live in penury and sickness fast;
’Tis years, their near and dear ones saw them last!
Cannot all children understand their plight?
Neglecting elderly is never right;
God sees their bloody tears when children fight;
The elderly need food, comfort, care, sight!
Our parents kept us warm when we were cold;
All children have a duty to ones old;
The elderly need young shoulders to hold;
Their virtuous deeds are worth more than all gold!

Sonnet- The Elderly
Show consideration for an aged man;
Show courtesy to elderly persons;
Inhuman ways to human lives, you ban;
To do a thing, have sufficient reasons.
Their frame is frail and mind is filled with fear;
Assault of any kind, they cannot bear;
They can’t see well or sleep or even hear;
The elderly need special love and care.
Their growing age is their sweet punishment;
They flex with age and become like a child;
Their Will-power is their great armament;
Their days are numbered- why should we turn wild?
Let’s look after the elderly with pride!
Their words are wise and let’s therefore abide.

Sonnet: Care of the Elderly
God, bless the souls who care for elderly!
Oh, what a lovely service they perform!
And wretched be those thinking cleverly,
Escaping duties, keeping them not warm.
The elder ones took care of us when young;
What love they showered when we were children!
‘They cooked us tasty foods with wet cow-dung! ’
They told us fables showing what’s heaven.
How can we then repay the love we get?
-By taking care of elderly in turn.
Can we ever repay their loving debt?
We fail to carry sometimes ev’n their urn!
The elderly can bless one’s family;
Their curses lead to ruin verily!

All And Any Explanation Is A Pointless Endeavor
No more time is there to be given,
For the purpose of enabling...
Unconscious or misguided people.
The patience of those sacrificial...
Has been replaced with rewards of peace.
Frustrations from people like this has been released.
Those who don't get,
What has been there for them to have gotten...
Need no longer to explain themselves,
With alibis and excuses made they can now drop.
These days that have come,
Requires everyone's full attention.
And not the attention focused on them.
But an attention for those who have awakened...
For a quickened evaluation,
Of all that speeds by within a twinkling of an eye!
And if anyone is not equipped to see it mentally,
All and any explanation is a pointless endeavor.

The Uprising Of Conflicts
How profound,
Statements made in the past...
Have come back to trespass,
To capture imaginations...
With undivided attention given to them.
'Chickens have come home to roost.'
Boasted one from a pulpit,
To cause an uproar to despise him.
'The practice of cowardice when facing racial tensions.'
One had mentioned to declare a people,
And their daily affairs to describe denials everywhere.
But it is all out there!
As if prophets had prescribe them.
Leaving bliss and ignorance no longer a satisfying mix.
In a world where lives are being afflicted,
By the uprising of conflicts based upon race,
AND religious sentiments.
How profound,
Statements made in the past...
Have come back to trespass,
To capture imaginations...
With undivided attention given to them.
And yet there are still those carrying their pretentions,
That none of this exists.
But it is all out there!
As if prophets had prescribe them.
Leaving bliss and ignorance no longer a satisfying mix.
In a world where lives are being afflicted,
By the uprising of conflicts based upon race,
AND religious sentiments.

Talking To Themselves
There is not a day that goes by,
I find myself lost for words to say.
But as each day does go by...
I realize very few are paying attention,
Whether they are in conversation or not.
And I have also noticed,
Those who are giving their undivided attention...
Are often talking to themselves.
'Well...
At least there is 'someone' captivated,
By what is being said.'

Who Must Take Care of Old-aged Parents?
Which child will care for parents when old-aged?
Which child will show compassion and respect?
Which child will find the time to talk kind words?
Which child reciprocates their affection?
Gone are the days of joint family system!
Gone is the sense of values in people!
Gone are the times when blood was quite thicker!
Gone with the wind is honouring parents!
Have parents not showered love on children?
Have they not slogged to give them life's comforts?
Have they not nursed them whenev'r they fell ill?
Have they not done their duties to their kids?
The world today is selfish to the core;
Children just want the wealth of parents old;
None volunteer to tend to old parents;
Children show scarce love to their parents dear!
What has then come upon children today?
Who should take care of parents, elderly?
Should not one's children take care of parents?
Much love seems lost in families these days!

Sonnet: The World's Aged, Need Our Help
Our world has older men more than before;
Health-carers wake up! Aged need better care;
Their problems seem so different- don’t ignore
The Elderly; no nation can then fare.
None can prevent the aging process, sure;
And die, we must someday diseased or not;
Ailments defying cure, we must endure;
Improve we can, the quality of cot.
The Elderly have served their useful terms;
They need just love, affection from young ones;
Their body frames are weak and prone to germs;
With help they can complete even more ‘runs’!
The care of Elderly is a challenge,
And needs more work; if not, it takes revenge!

How Archaic Can They Be?
Only children not given attention,
Are out of control.
Spare the rod, spoil the child.
That's what I've always been told.
And the evidence of that,
Is not an assumption!
That's a fact.
A child undisciplined,
Will bring grief in the end.
And those doing their research through books,
Are the ones seen tearfully...
Expressing they've done what they thought it took,
To keep their children from becoming...
Liars, criminals and deceiving petty crooks.
How archaic can they be?
Wanting to whipped their children...
Into respectful human beings?
Only children not given attention,
Are out of control.
Spare the rod, spoil the child.
That's what I've always been told.
And still to this very day,
As the industry of incarceration...
Blooms to a boom without a bust,
There are those who are scholars...
Professing they know a way,
How a restoration of values and standards,
Will eliminate division and the onslaught of decay.
AND return the public's trust.
IF...
We all follow 'their' instructions,
Outlined in their bestselling books!
Instilling within us a more educated way...
To properly train our children to become,
The liars, criminals and deceiving petty crooks...
A decadent society has obviously become.
And with a price to pay.
That's the way it looks!
How archaic can they be?
Wanting to whipped their children...
Into respectful human beings?
Only children not given attention,
Are out of control.
Spare the rod, spoil the child.
That's what I've always been told.

When Girls Get Together
When girls get together
They like to talk about their latest love
And their description seems somehow to fit just like a glove
When girls get together
They dont waste time on things llike weather and stuff
They all just play around and never seem to discuss it enough
This must have been going on prehistory
They may not ever solve the mystery
But theyll go talk until eternity
When girls get together
And bring up father or brother or men of their lives
It means so much if shes your sister or your mother or your lovin wife
I guess we guys might never really know
How good weve got it but wed like to show
Just how much that we love them so
One bright springtime morning
I over heard an elderly ladys voice
As I walked by her bench she told her friends of her great loss
After theyd gone away
Three little girls came skipping through the park
Talking of little boys and getting home before its dark
When girls get together

Nurture the Elderly
All the elderly are all alone,
All alone in nursing homes.
Sleeping in beds with drugs
blurrying their heads.
Now this is our state of affairs right now,
before we had elderly helping out.
They lived to be healthy and take care of kids,
now we hide them away and make them forget.
Forget who they are,
for we labeled them thus far.
As drains on our society and economy,
not giving them respect or dignity.
Alzheimer's has a spiritual cause,
no family ties is the result of it all.
Now we need to give Elderly’s
a way to fit in,
to give them meaning to life
not make them a “has been”.
They could work at Daycares,
help with the children
because they have so much to share.
It’s a shame for one day we could be in their shoes,
we better change our ways, we have too much to lose.

Missing puzzle
They talk of the puzzle that has the missing piece,
But none mention the piece with the missing puzzle,
It's hard when there is nowhere to turn for release,
And searches for acceptance lead to refusal,
It pains me to hear puzzles constantly complain,
For the piece with a missing puzzle cries in vain,
They try to fit in places that they never can,
And end up with a life like that of a cursed man,
They can pretend they are another puzzle piece,
And then try forcing themselves into a puzzle,
But it will hurt them until they crave for release,
And acknowledge their prospective host's refusal,
They will surely be doomed to tiresomely roam,
In a vain search for a place that they can call home,
Till they declare themselves a puzzle of their own,
And then learn how to be content being alone.

The African Mother
Who battles with sleep when her child is sick?
Her surveillance around him alone is a cure
Who knows the meanings to her child's actions?
Who understands the heartbeats of her children?
She feels it in her abdomen when her child is hurt
Who fathoms out the daunting of her child
She pacifies the anger of her with just the insertion of her nipple in his mouth
It is you the African mother
You make your wards have confidence in you
Every child calls to his mothers name when he is not comfortable
Who is the child that cries with the father's name?
Which child threaten to tell what has happened to his father
Every child confines in you why because your love never wanes
Your love so pure like crystal
Your sagacity surpasses all women
You never join the dance of the world who thinks everything is fatalistic
You are never fortified by the ignominious traits of your children
In tattered penury you cater for your children
Through thick and thin you struggle to feed your home
Your utmost priority is to set food on the table
You give your children the opportunity you never had
You imbibe into your children reverences
To respect the elderly

Please Respect The Elderly!
Please respect the elderly!
Learn patience day-by-day...
A little love from you and me
Can go a long, long way!
God's love towards Mankind goes on
For all eternity
And when His children must pass on,
He treats them tenderly...
Please respect the elderly!
No matter, fit or frail...
A soothing word or pleasantry,
Is hardly known to fail.
Lord Jesus died for one and all...
He died for young and old...
While young at heart we may walk tall,
In time, we're not so bold...
Please respect the elderly!
Is that too much to ask?
Our actions prove our courtesy,
Regardless of the task...
God hears the prayers of everyone,
No matter, rich or poor.
If we do things that must be done,
God couldn't ask for more...

Children from like 8 and even up to the college age - Spider-Man appeals to a fairly broad demographic but, like I said, a mean age probably of 12 is a good mark - they process information so quickly and it's not because of attention deficit or short attention span.
