That Is What A Kept Faith Does
After one has become accustomed,
To experience repeated attempts to reach peaks...
From cloud covered and mist strewn valleys,
Of course there is going to be some bragging...
When that brightness of a peak is reached.
Regardless of one's scars and bruised knees.
Or the pettiness of distant voices heard.
One's repeated attempts to reach peaks,
Develops a capability...
To even ignore pain.
That is what a kept faith does!
Especially if one is devoted and focused,
To accomplish heights,
That appear to beckon those who dare.

Just A Series Of Tests To Measure
Let this be said,
To those great and small.
To those standing on the peaks of mountains,
And to the ones beginning their journeys...
On knees in the darkest of valleys,
Who believe it is beneath them to crawl.
When that moment of 'light' upon you hits.
And you become aware of your talents and gifts.
You will begin to lift your head,
To reach the furthest star.
Even when you reach that peak you seek...
You will not become satisfied inside at all.
There will still be that urge,
To surge to even greater heights!
Let this be said,
To those great and small.
You owe it only to yourself to be your best.
And those obstacles you face,
Are just a series of tests to measure your self worth.
You will pass.
If you learn not to give up...
And get off your accusations to aspire.
And rid that trash on your back that is carried.
To accept...
That difficult tasks can never be grasped.
You will!
Only you can fulfill your dreams.

Helderberg Hill (Sestina)
You are the high hill with numerous peaks,
that in summer looks magnificent and cheery,
where I have climbed up to waterfalls, to heights,
where I got a view of sun, beach and sea,
felt as if in presence of God, with tranquillity
with your moods you remind me of a lady.
Once I wandered with a young lady
on a twisting trail among your high peaks
to find some inner peace, some tranquillity
and she was quite happy and rather cheery
gazing up at the blue sky, down at the sea
from both of those dazing heights.
Climbing up to the sheer heights
was like exploring the body of a lady
as if finding a secret kind of sea
with beautiful rising pointed peaks
and the experience was quite cheery,
suddenly leaving an own tranquillity.
My privacy is invaded by her tranquillity
as from far I still do watch her heights
and although feeling rather cheery
there is danger in this lovely lady
that beacons me with her high peaks
to look upon an endless open sea.
I long to gaze out upon the sea,
to be with her in tranquillity,
to wander among her peaks,
to again explore her heights
as if to visit a dear kind old lady
but I wonder if I will find her cheery?
But I must now continually stay cheery,
keep far away from the troubled sea,
avoid all of the dangerous heights
of live to be able to find tranquillity
but still the beautiful ageless lady
is luring me continually with her peaks.
How glimmering and cheery with ice her peaks
high above the sea, do glow from their heights,
she is without tranquillity, a chilly frozen lady.

Early Works - Far Beyond
Far beyond I see a sky of blue,
still further beyond I see
mountain peaks covered in mist.
Just beyond the sky of blue
and mountain, peaks covered in mist
lies a sun setting peacefully.
As the sun sets
it colours the sky
lighting the mountains
like a roman candle
and far beyond these burning mountains
the sun rests its head peacefully
as the day come to a close.

Reminders
What one knows,
Can not be thrown away.
Or be disposed of!
To unlearn an experience,
Is not like a pinch felt.
I can recover from being bruised.
Depending on who did the abusing.
And if on my knees I knelt.
But if I'm left to wallow in a sorrow,
That is life changing?
An experience like that...
Will be remembered for the rest of my life.
I know how to ride on a two wheel bike.
But for the life of me...
I can not remember the many attempts I made,
Before I started to ride without assistance.
And I've got scars all over my body.
But the ones in my mind...
Seem to linger there all the time,
As if reminders!
And some have first and last names.
Attached and dated to the experience.

The Peaks
In the night
Grey heavy clouds muffled the valleys,
And the peaks looked toward God alone.
'O Master that movest the wind with a finger,
Humble, idle, futile peaks are we.
Grant that we may run swiftly across the world
To huddle in worship at Thy feet.'
In the morning
A noise of men at work came the clear blue miles,
And the little black cities were apparent.
'O Master that knowest the meaning of raindrops,
Humble, idle, futile peaks are we.
Give voice to us, we pray, O Lord,
That we may sing Thy goodness to the sun.'
In the evening
The far valleys were sprinkled with tiny lights.
'O Master,
Thou that knowest the value of kings and birds,
Thou hast made us humble, idle futile peaks.
Thou only needest eternal patience;
We bow to Thy wisdom, O Lord -
Humble, idle, futile peaks.'
In the night
Grey heavy clouds muffled the valleys,
And the peaks looked toward God alone.

Sunlight Is What I Wish To See
Perhaps it is okay...
For you to decide I am okay,
Today!
But I remember how my yesterdays were spent.
Getting dirty looks from you.
And receiving your resentment.
I guess it is alright,
If you treat me today...
With respect and politeness.
But my wounds and scars,
You will never see anyway.
Since the life I have lived...
Had nothing to do with you in my way!
You know why?
Because any tears I had to cry...
I've never relied on you to help me dry them.
You made it known a long time ago,
Any obstacles I had on my path...
You were one of the ones too happy,
To put some there.
Hoping they would last.
Unaware...
I was being prepared,
To climb mountains.
And the molehills you constructed...
Were just test to strengthen my resolve.
I reach for peaks to conquer.
I already know who prefers to dwell in valleys!
And more Sunlight is what I wish to see.
Believe it or not...
That is the destiny for me I desire to reach!
Perhaps it is okay...
For you to decide I am okay,
Today!
However...
I am not relying upon your decisions.
Or am I wishing to impress,
To gain your approval for my success or happiness.
I 'am' going to climb,
THAT mountain!

through her valleys and peaks
my lips taking in every spot in her body
inside outside
i travel
panning her through
a journey incomparable
where we reach
a journey into the inner space

Sweet Silence Speaks
At the brink of the midnight
When every mortal sleeps
When voices turn their faces
Then the sweet silence speaks
With the onset of the moonlight
Slowly deserting the streets
When the noises are duped
Then the sweet silence speaks
When the zephyrs are high
At the snow covered peaks
And the voices get numb
Then the sweet silence speaks
I desperately wait to meet her
Through days and all through the weeks
I really die to hear her voice
And then the sweet silence speaks
Through an edge of a dream
When my sweety slowly peaks
All of a sudden I wake up
When the sweet silence speaks

The Mountain Like A Lion
Windsor Seep was dry and covered
with pine cones and dirt; on hands and knees
I could never have extracted water
there for my barren tongue to lap.
The saddle, with deer plentiful
as pests, huddles my tent and me;
where I saw the spinning stars
against the towering twin peaks.
My boots were wired to my feet,
kicked by rocks and prickly pear,
whose fruit I'd had to eat
for the juice bound by a thousand neddles there.
Then, another night.
The winds of autumn howled down the peaks
like javelinas,
yet the mountain itself was a lion,
Looking me between the eyes,
then pouncing.

Braving It
Saving it.
With a making of it,
My love of life...
As a sequel.
And braving it.
Through stormy days,
Will be my life...
To seek those peaks,
I wish to reach.
Borrowed are no sorrows,
To maintain.
Tomorrow I seek the Sun,
And not the rain.
I make those choices,
To choose to rejoice.
And with open eyes,
Fears inside I push aside.
Saving it.
With a making of it,
My love of life...
As a sequel.
And braving it.
Through stormy days,
Will be my life...
To seek those peaks,
I wish to reach.
And...
With a peace,
I keep within.

I will persist until I succeed. Always will I take another step. If that is of no avail I will take another, and yet another. In truth, one step at a time is not too difficult.... I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.

Dare to Believe
I dare to believe that the sun will come out
I dare to have faith that the time is right
For me to reach the top of my game
To say goodbye to heartache and pain
I dare to believe that for the very first time
I will truly get what I want to be mine
And no, it’s not a never ending love
Nor even a fortune dropped from above
No, I dare to believe that I’m all right
That I’m the best that’s ever been
The smartest, the funniest, the best overall
I dare to believe in myself, that’s all.

A Distance From The Sea
To Ernest Brace
"And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was
about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto
me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and
write them not." --REVELATIONS, x, 4.
That raft we rigged up, under the water,
Was just the item: when he walked,
With his robes blowing, dark against the sky,
It was as though the unsubstantial waves held up
His slender and inviolate feet. The gulls flew over,
Dropping, crying alone; thin ragged lengths of cloud
Drifted in bars across the sun. There on the shore
The crowd's response was instantaneous. He
Handled it well, I thought--the gait, the tilt of the head, just right.
Long streaks of light were blinding on the waves.
And then we knew our work well worth the time:
The days of sawing, fitting, all those nails,
The tiresome rehearsals, considerations of execution.
But if you want a miracle, you have to work for it,
Lay your plans carefully and keep one jump
Ahead of the crowd. To report a miracle
Is a pleasure unalloyed; but staging one requires
Tact, imagination, a special knack for the job
Not everyone possesses. A miracle, in fact, means work.
--And now there are those who have come saying
That miracles were not what we were after. But what else
Is there? What other hope does life hold out
But the miraculous, the skilled and patient
Execution, the teamwork, all the pain and worry every miracle involves?
Visionaries tossing in their beds, haunted and racked
By questions of Messiahship and eschatology,
Are like the mist rising at nightfall, and come,
Perhaps to even less. Grave supernaturalists, devoted worshippers
Experience the ecstasy (such as it is), but not
Our ecstasy. It was our making. Yet sometimes
When the torrent of that time
Comes pouring back, I wonder at our courage
And our enterprise. It was as though the world
Had been one darkening, abandoned hall
Where rows of unlit candles stood; and we
Not out of love, so much, or hope, or even worship, but
Out of the fear of death, came with our lights
And watched the candles, one by one, take fire, flames
Against the long night of our fear. We thought
That we could never die. Now I am less convinced.
--The traveller on the plain makes out the mountains
At a distance; then he loses sight. His way
Winds through the valleys; then, at a sudden turning of a path,
The peaks stand nakedly before him: they are something else
Than what he saw below. I think now of the raft
(For me, somehow, the summit of the whole experience)
And all the expectations of that day, but also of the cave
We stocked with bread, the secret meetings
In the hills, the fake assassins hired for the last pursuit,
The careful staging of the cures, the bribed officials,
The angels' garments, tailored faultlessly,
The medicines administered behind the stone,
That ultimate cloud, so perfect, and so opportune.
Who managed all that blood I never knew.
The days get longer. It was a long time ago.
And I have come to that point in the turning of the path
Where peaks are infinite--horn-shaped and scaly, choked with
thorns.
But even here, I know our work was worth the cost.
What we have brought to pass, no one can take away.
Life offers up no miracles, unfortunately, and needs assistance.
Nothing will be the same as once it was,
I tell myself.--It's dark here on the peak, and keeps on getting
darker.
It seems I am experiencing a kind of ecstasy.
Was it sunlight on the waves that day? The night comes down.
And now the water seems remote, unreal, and perhaps it is.

Luck Has Nothing To Do With What Has Been Achieved
Sacrifice, initiative, motivation, discipline...
Self esteem, belief, faith and consistency,
With a persistence to get done and do!
Are you listening to me?
Success has more than one avenue,
One can take to reach it.
But if commitment isn't attached,
With a plan to match...
Some folks will never know,
How it feels...
To touch a dream that comes to life.
And when one has spent many sleepless nights,
In pain and 'still' applies emotions felt to accomplish...
With a focused devotion no one witnesses to see to believe,
Luck has nothing to do with what has been achieved!

Voluntarily Given
Uncovering those things,
Only found to be of interest to you...
With attempts made to share with others,
Believing them to have similar interests too?
May upset when they finally,
Come around to confess...
Their participation was not from a depth felt.
But had only been voluntarily given,
To appease your anticipation.
With a quieting done of your repeated wishes.

Vanity
High peaks beckon to vainglorious of hearts,
As if to say, from there, Heaven is near,
A fool from whom humility departs,
Would scale the heights, mindless of any fear;
Foolhardy quests may for adventures make,
To flaunt before the eyes of beasts and men,
In climbs, or hunts for fiercest game to take,
Are gloss photos, or stuffed heads for the den;
Where does courage lie, where lies vanity?
What profits a soul pushing to extremes,
Even to dare God's awesome majesty,
Scheming for which, the mere desire blasphemes;
…..Earth is way down here, high up there, the sky,
…..Firmaments apart, but naught we know why.

Dare To Dream
(paul begaud/vanessa corish/wayne tester)
I am my own believer
In my heart the reason
I will follow the light from within
Im not afraid of weakness
Im gonna taste the sweetness
Of the power not to give in
Oh I will see it through
I believe this is my moment of truth
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream
I will go the distance
Embrace resistance
I will lay my soul on the line
When the wait is over
And the hunger has spoken
If I give my all,i will shine
Oh I will see it through
I believe, this is my moment of truth
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream,oh
And the heart will shine like the sun
A million voices together as one
I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
Dare to dream
Dare to fly
Dare to be the ever chosen one to touch the sky
Dare to reach
Dare to rise
Find the strength to set my spirit free
(find the strength to set my spirit free)
Find the strength to do what I believe
(I believe)
Dare to dream
Dare to dream
